2. Plot Summary
As the majority of all good short films do there is a humorous plot twist at the
end of the film and as my partner and I are attempting a comedic style this
was a good example to watch. The general plot of the film is that a young man
bumping into his ex girlfriend at a service station in Australia. They have
flirtatious banter and reconnect as they haven’t seen each other in a
longtime. The young man offers to drive her home, and they wait in his car for
his friends to come out of the shop. Little does the women know that they are
waiting in a car that her ex boyfriend is acting as the get away driving to a hit
and run.
3. Mise-en-scène: setting /location
The film is set mainly in the two front seats of an
old fashioned sports car that is parked outside a
row of service shops. In our case this is a good
location to shoot a short film as it is a simple
location that comes with few complications as it
is a public place. However shooting outside can
provides issues such as the weather.
4. Mise-en-scène: colour and lighting
The Short film Is set in a car and outside on a sunny
Australian day so the lighting is bright and happy. This
style may be difficult for us to gain as we only have
limited lighting equipment.
5. Mise-en-scène: make up and
costume
In this particular short film the costume plays a large part in the
story line although it is a simple concept. At the begging the man
tries on a black hat, but it only becomes significant at the end of
the film when we realize that he is involved in a grab and go
robbing of a store. As we don’t actually see his friends run out of
the store the only indication that it is happening is that he
suddenly puts of the hat and drives of quickly.
