6. Aspects I wish to use from Top Of The
Pops
• Text – as my magazine is going to cover the pop genre, the text
used on the cover and inside must represent this, on top of the
pops the typography used is bubbly and smooth, making the
magazine instantly identifiable as pop
• Layout of contents page - although I plane to make some
alterations to colours and puffs used, the simplicity of the cover
page is helpful for readers, having the cover articles easy to accsess
gives new readers help, as the cover pieces may be why they picked
up the magazine
• Double page spread layout – with the double page spread, the way
pull quotes and images were used to split up text made it come
across as a lot simpler and easier to read, with my target audience
being teenagers, this is nessercary as the age group of 15+ will want
something simple. Also, using different band name members in
different colours allows readers to get to know the artist better

11. Aspects I wish to use from NME
• Layout of cover page– with the layout of the cover article it
is simple, yet attention grabbing, the blacks, whites and
reds present it as a mature magazine, which aims at the
target audience I intend to aim my own magazine at.
Although to link it with my genre some colours may be
changed, the simple lay out makes it seem older and more
presentable to teens of mixed gender
• Contents page – One thing I liked from this was the Band
Index, for my genre of pop, this covers many artists and
fans often only stick to one favourite, having this will be
new to pop magazines, making it stand out and it will allow
certain fans of certain artists to find what they want
easily, with little effort
