2. PRODUCT- GONG AND CHEMISTRY LAB
This I my finished product
of the gong, which was
used in one of the very
first scenes, where miss
Darbus’ uses it to catch
her students attention.
Fortunately for me my chemistry lab equipment
was sourced from the science department in
college, this consisted of tests tubes and test
tube racks, filled with coloured liquids, a bunson
burner, pipettes ect. In order to make the
classroom look as authentic as possible.
The labcoats in the end were also sourced
another theatre school so I wasn’t able to mount
my design on to these as they were someone
else's,

3. MATERIAL LIST
• This materials list was imperative in the construction of our sets. This helped
us to determine which materials were best to use for specific things and what
we needed exactly so we didn’t waste anything. For example, if two people
needed a specific colour of the same red paint, this list help determine how
much was necessary to spend money on or source.
• Thick wood 15cm in length
• Black paint
• Card
• Silver/gold/copper paint
• Paint brush
• String
• Screws
• Drill
4. STEP BY STEP GUIDE-
GONG
In order to make the gong I had to…
• Cut 4x wood to 15cm in length
• Attach them into a square using screws
• Once the frame is made, cut a circle out of a piece of card with a 7 cm
radius
• Paint this gong in order for it to resemble symbol colour, using the silver,
gold and copper paints.
• After this is done, peirce two wholes at the top of the circle and tie string
into both, and attach it to the top of the frame.
• To make the gong stick, I cut down a piece of paint brush and stuck a pom
pom on to the top.
