The Ernesto Basile was founded in 1972 as a branch
of the school ‘’Cannizzaro’’, as the “IV High School”.
In 1977 the school has been splitted in IV and V High
School (nowadays the V is called " Benedetto Croce

In 1985 is given the name "Ernesto Basile" to the IV
High School.
In 1988 the school moved to its present location in
“Via San Ciro”.
3. The Name
Our high school takes its
name from the great italian
architect and famous
exponent of Modernism and
Art Nuveau:
‘’Ernesto Basile’’.
8. Projects
Our school has always been involved in projects
that promote culture not only for its students, but
also for the residents of the neighborhood where
it is located, both young and old.
An example is the our school ‘’adoption’’ of the
‘’Castle of Maredolce’’, a castle which belonged to
the emir Kalbita Giafar (997-1019).
The basile also has always been at the forefront in
the fight against Mafia, promoting the anti - mafia
and civic education among both students and
local residents.
