The Hugh Lane first opened in 1908 and was Ireland's first Municipal Gallery of Modern Art. In 1993, it moved to Charlemont House, a new neoclassical building. The gallery has a collection including works from Hugh Lane, Irish artists like Jack B. Yeats, and Francis Bacon's studio which was moved from London to Dublin. It focuses on Irish and international modern and contemporary art and collaborates with schools and other organizations to promote its collection.
