I remember when I was fifteen, I went to visit my grandmother in Cuernavaca in the state of
Morelos, Mexico. Because my grandmother doesn't drive, we took the bus to get place to place.
While on the bus, I saw a women with four kids and only one of them was wearing shoes. I had
been happy to visit but witnessing all the poverty made me rethink my own priorities and those of
my American peers. Thinking about that mother and her children, made me bawl my eyes out. Not
because I had felt pity towards them but because even though they had so little they were so grateful
and seemed so happy. I thought about the things that I had that they didn't. It made me wonder why
so many kids in the U.S. depend on technological devices to make them happy. There must be more
to life than facing a screen for most of the day.
The next day, I woke up thankful for being able to simply open my eyes. I decided to leave my

In my culture, gender roles are very personal. Gender roles contribute to how females and males
should think, speak, dress, and interact with others. There are different ways gender roles have
developed over time and how people choose to interpret gender roles and what the male and female
have to do. I was born and raised in San Diego California. My mom is from Acapulco, Guerrero and
my dad is from Morelos, Cuernavaca. They both were raised by strict mexican parents who raised
them to be responsible at a young age. Both of my parents started working at the age of 10. My dad
would work at a bakery after school and then switched up to driving trucks, transporting beer. My
mom didn't get the chance to go to school, my grandparents sent my uncle instead. She would go

brothers and wash their clothes. My grandma would make my aunts and mom do things for their

Mexican artists, more than most other artists in the Americas, exemplify the political and social
obligations of artists. According to Soltes (2011), several Mexican artists of the early twentieth
century were inspired by the revolutions and political unrest occurring in Mexico, which was

Cauduro paints supernatural scenarios with realism akin to 17th century masters like Dutch artists

The piece I choose to critic is titled "Buscado por su madre" or "Wanted by his Mother" by Rafael
Cauduro, no year. This piece is an Oil on Canvas painting that measured 48"x36" located at the
Long Beaches MoLAA. The work is presented as one of a few Mexican artists that share an interest
in their painting primarily figurative style, political in nature, that often narrated the history of

Museum. It is at eye level and demonstrates a superb use of illusionistic realism that it creates the

real bricks with the words wanted by mother on the top. Cauduro's piece, in my eyes looked like he

through the a.v. is when designing high speed rail to the antelope valley. The considerations are is
that the kids or young adults of the antelope valley area are able to go to colleges in san diego and
back home to the AV in the matter of just minutes. The bridge is to get over the highway to get to

Regarding the provenance of the raw materials, in this work we focus in the limestone, being an
important construction material that was not present in the immediate surroundings of
Tenochtitlan. In fact, this was an island city, located in the middle of a volcanic basin, and the
nearest geological limestone outcrops were located far away. According to the historical sources
written during the 16th century, the Aztecs imported by way of tribute and commerce lime and
limestone from different regions. For instance, the tributary lists known as the Matrícula de
Tributos (1991, 22) and the Codex Mendoza (1992, 28r, 42r) record that lime loads were brought

Bernardino de Sahagún (1979, xi:221r) speak about different kinds of limestone used to paint:
chimaltizatl and tetizatl. After Sahagún (2000, 1132), the first came from Huaxtepec (near
Cuernavaca, Morelos) and was sold in the market, while the second one was obtained 'in the small
rivers near Tula' (in the modern state of Hidalgo). For the new enlargement of the Templo
Mayor ordered around ad 1467 by Motecuhzoma I, mentioned above, the lime would have been
provided by the people from the Cuernavaca area, in the modern state of Morelos (Durán 1984;
Nicholson 1987; López Luján et al. 2003; López Luján 2006). Understanding the provenance of the
limestone used in the plasters of Templo Mayor, and clarifying whether there were changes over
time in the outcrops exploited, could therefore help in better understanding the relationship between
the Mexicas and their neighbours in Central Mexico and verifying what the historical sources
suggest.

control/conquer the Aztec empire and succeeded but it still lived on in spite of what happened. But

called Castile which was a part of Spain. He was an only child who lived in a relatively poor family,

Alonso was a very ambitious man, multiple times, he tried to sneak away so he could get the market
for himself, but he was very unsuccessful. In Hispaniola, which is modern day Haiti and Dominican
Republic, Cortes went to meet the house of Governor which whom he knew from Spain, but his
secretary told him that he was gone but that Cortes would be able to get a land grant. Cortes was
upset and he said, " But I came to get gold, not to till the soil, like a peasant." When the Governor
finally came back, he convinced Cortes to take some land for a time, though he didn't fully settle

The Mexican Health Care System
Healthcare in Mexico The Mexican health care system had evolved a series of disjointed subsystems
that are incapable of delivering universal health insurance. Without greatly restructuring the way
healthcare is financed, performance with respect to equity will remain poor. The fact that life
expectancy at birth in Mexico has improved from forty–two years in 1940 to seventy–three in 2000,
major inequalities persist in health and access to health care. Therefore leaving Mexico's healthcare
as in today still a work in progress. Then the country's Congress passed a bill to ensure healthcare
for every mexican without access to it. The goal was explicit: universal coverage. Therefore, by
September expecting by the government to have enrolled about 51 million people in the insurance
plan they created about six years ago. This effectively reached the target, well at least on paper.
Quality varies, and people in poor Guerrero may seek care in nearby Yautepec or Cuernavaca, where

Hernan (also Hernando or Fernando) Cortes was born in Medellin, Estramadura, in Spain in 1485 to
a family of minor nobility.
Cortes was sent to study law at the University of Salamanca. In 1501 He left school to fight in a
military expedition but became ill and was forced to stay behind. In 1504 he left to seek fortune in
the West Indies, eventually joining Diego Velazquez in the conquest of Cuba. Velazquez was a
Spanish soldier and administrator who would later become governor of Cuba. Cortes persuaded

Emiliano Zapata has garnered a cult of personality that shares a common trait with myths from the
beginning of time in which people would create gods to worship and heroes to admire. Zapata was a
revolutionary during the Mexican Revolution who stands out as one of the most admirable figures in
Mexican history. From the state of Morelos near the city of Mexico, he started a practical movement
for land redistribution in his home state that transforms into an ideology of rebelling against bad
government and a true representation of the majority of Mexico. Zapata's myth by this time has
become ubiquitous in Mexico in which highways, streets, and a statue show how important he is and
is remember in Mexico. His myth had to arise from somewhere and in his case; he would become

The war on drugs has been going on for a while between Mexico and the US; George W. Bush had
signed the Merida Initiative with the then, President Felipe Calderon. Shortly after the Merida
Initiative was signed, in April of 2006, Project Gunrunner launched. Developed by the
Ammunitions, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) agency who planned "to stem the flow of firearms into
Mexico and thereby deprive the narcotics cartels of weapons" (Embassy of the United States
Mexico, n.d.). Fast forward 3 years, and Attorney General Eric Holder took office, in order to

Assisting in the operation over the span of 16 months were: such as staff from the Ammunitions,
Tobacco and Firearms Explosives (ATF) force; Homeland Security Investigations (HSI); Drug
Enforcement Administration (DEA); Internal Revenue Service (IRS); and state and local law
enforcement agencies. When the ATF originally investigated the illegal smuggling of guns into
Mexico, the idea of arresting individuals who were identified as straw purchasers was less important
than finding the cartel members identified as decision makers and those financing them. The HSI
