A number of factors are responsible for the success of the Walt Disney Company, and all of them listed here should be considered.
However, certain ingredients, the secret sauce, were present from the beginning that provided the foundation on which this company rests.
From the very beginning , Walt Disney founded his company with a strong vision and a strong mission statement. He used the principles expressed in the mission statement and the vision to guide all of the other decisions made by this company.
An effective mission statement defines a companyâs current business plan, and the Disney Companyâs Mission Statement accomplishes that purpose and is thought to be the likely reason for the companyâs tremendous success.
Innovation. Leaders must be innovative and comfortable with risk. (Walt Disneyâs lead by relentlessly focusing on being innovative, creating an ever-evolving learning culture by challenging the status-quo.)
Organizational Support. Leaders must provide overt, enthusiastic and sustained support; be cheerleaders of employee development! (No one is âtoo bigâ to participate in training at Disney)
Education. Employee education and development must be woven into organizational culture. (Walt Disney felt that education was an indispensable commodity.)
Entertain. âLaughter is no enemy to learning.â
Roy carried on Waltâs plans to finish after his death in 1966
