Evaluation 3
1. WHAT KIND OF MEDIA
INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE
YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND
WHY?
2. • For our film to be successful and make money, the media institution that would
distribute our media product is essential and important. If we don’t have a
popular distributor we might not make profits and have a high box office gross.
3. • The media institution I would like to distribute my media product in is Vertigo
Films. Vertigo Films is a UK Film and Distribution company founded in 2002 by
Allan Niblo and James Richardson. The following year Rupert Preston and Nick
Love joined and became partners. The company’s job is to create and distribute
independent cinema and since inception it has produced 28 films and distributed
a further 35. The Films span a range of genres and audience taste and include the
box office smash hit Streetdance 3D, the biggest independent UK DVD of all time
The Football Factory, the multi award winning Monsters.
4. • Vertigo have received funding from Channel 4 films, The Film Council and the
NFTS to promote film projects with schools. They are also very innovative and
raising funding through public involvement. They had a budget of £2.5 million,
funded by the public, through a website with investment packages of £10, £50,
and £100. So, when it comes to distributing our film we know that we would have
a reasonable amount of money for it to be put into cinemas and on DVD.
5. • For our media product, we will distribute first in the cinemas in 2D and then later
distribute it on DVD and BluRay, so it can be seen to a number of audiences.
