take a look at Norway, and how the situation regarding reproductive capacities, as well as
reproductive rights, as this goes hand in hand. There is two reasons I am looking at Norway, one

color that came with those opportunities. This was their white privilege. If all students, regardless of
race, were provided the option to attend either the prestigious Central High School or the
impoverished Horace Mann High School, it is likely that none of them would have chosen to go the
latter.

in this arena, there is still the feeling out there that the son should be considered first and the
daughter as a second option, only if there is no son or if the son declines the offer. But, Nelton says

diversity of women and may leave many women feeling insecure and self–conscious about their
appearance and of lesser value than other women who may be deemed more attractive in regards to
society's narrow perspective of a women's beauty. This aspect of the girl power phenomenon also
neglects the consideration that not all women are financially independent or have enough money to
buy the makeup, the clothes and the shoes that have now become attached to what it means to be a
woman and ultimately feminism itself (Sameh, 1997). Some women may not have access to the
resources either. This leaves a lot of women feeling left out an insecure which opposes the idea
that girl power brings women together (Sameh, 1997). On the opposite end of the spectrum, many
women may simply not want to wear makeup and dress in the way that girl power in the media and
popular culture encourages. This marginalizes a lot of women simply because they refuse to follow
trends and conform to what the media and popular culture have manipulated society into believing

Of the shorts screened this semester, there were specific films outlied themselves for their strong
female narrations and themes. Whether we are observing the Somali traditions in 'Godka Cirka' or
follow the hopes and dreams of a working–class teen in 'About a Girl', films with these kinds of
subjects are different from the norms of traditionally portrayed narratives. Like in literature, the
characteristics of subversion are defined by their ability not to portray one side of a particular
