"All women and girls should have power over their own bodies and the right to decide whether and
when to have children. Reproductive health is about safe pregnancy and childbirth, prevention and
treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, and family planning and access to contraception." This
is the UN definition of reproductive rights, and is created based on UN's Millennium Development
Goals. The goals as well as this explanation are something all nations should thrive towards. I will
take a look at Norway, and how the situation regarding reproductive capacities, as well as
reproductive rights, as this goes hand in hand. There is two reasons I am looking at Norway, one
being that I am myself from Norway, and can on some level speak based on my own experience.
The main reason however is that Norway has many times, and by many different surveys, been
rated the best country in the world to live in , and can therefore be seen as a primary example on
reproductive rights. I will take a look at the different policies put in place in Norway, as well, as the
tittle states what claims partners, family and the Norwegian state have regarding reproductive
capacities.
First of a brief run–through of the Norwegian family life. The period after World War II
(1940–1945) and until the end of the 60s are often called the "housewife 's prime." The mother was
home with the children while the father worked outside the home. Beyond 70's there was great
demand for labour and it was more common

Girl Power Was Around In The 2000's
Girl Power was around in the 1990's and early 2000's. The iconic phrase girl power was made
popular by the spice girls in the mid to late 1990's.
Girl power also linked to a third wave feminism, the Spice Girls got the attention of woman as well
of men.
One of the earliest uses of the phrase "Girl Power" was in 1987 by a London–based 'capella' all–girl
group called 'Mint Juleps' in a song entitled 'Girl to the Power of 6'. The phrase is sometimes spelled
as "grrrl power", initially associated with Riot Grrrl.
There are a wide range of other female artist who have used the influences from girl power. Here are
a few:
Alicia Keys – Girl On Fire
Katy Perry – Roar
Pink – Most Girls
BeyoncГ© – Run The World (Girls)

Essay On The Power Of Power In Jane Eyre
One of the main problems Jane struggled with while falling and being in love Rochester was the
power dynamic. Mr. Rochester has a more powerful position due to his money and station in
society, but most of the Mr. Rochester's power that Jane struggles against stems from him being a
man. Rochester's actions toward Jane after their engagement cause Jane to verbally retaliate
against the way women are treated, which also shows the stage they are in in their relationship and
many piecing of foreshadowing. This passage opens with Jane struggling to get Mr. Rochester out
of the silk warehouse and then the jeweler's shop. Immediately her anger at how women are treated
is presented when her cheeks burn "with a sense of annoyance and degradation" at everything Mr.
Rochester buys her (Bronte 241). When Mr. Rochester smiles at Jane she compares it to how "a
sultan might [...] bestow on a slave his gold and gems had enriched" (Bronte 241). Instead of
letting the thought flee her mind, Jane criticizes Mr. Rochester's look and threatens to continue to
wear her Lowood frocks. Jane's threat conveys that she scorns the way women are treated and she
will not let a man treat her like a lesser being. Seeing where Jane's comment is coming from, Mr.
Rochester remarks that he would not trade "one little English girl for the grand Turk's whole
seraglio" and this comment leads to a playful, yet serious conversation of what Jane would do if
Mr. Rochester was a sultan who had a seraglio (Bronte

How To Write An Essay On The Powerpuff Girls
An accident made in the lab by father Utonium, created his three little girls, Blossom, Bubbles,
and Buttercup. The animated series "The Powerpuff Girls" was created by Craig McCracken and
directed by Lauren Faust and Genndy Tartakovsky. The show revolves around the adventure of
three little girls trying to save their city, Townsville, from all of the evil monsters and bad people.
Blossom is the leader of the trio, while Bubbles is the sweet blue eyed one, and Buttercup is the
toughest one of them all. "Girls Gone Mild," was the episode I decided to watch. We learn how an
anti–Powerpuff group doesn't want the girls using their powers anymore. In this episode we learn
how Mr. and Mrs. Practive have formed an anti–powerpuff group, so the girls can stop using their
superpowers in Townsville. The parents formed a group called PAPP (Parents Against
Powerpuff) so the girls weren't allowed to use their powers. They were told if any of the rules
were broken they would be sued. As we go further into the episode Stanley and Sandra learn the
town is defenseless without the girls superpowers, because a group called "Dooks of Doom, soon
comes to destroy the town, while everyone just hides or runs away. In one part of the episode, when
the "Dooks of Doom" were coming into the...show more content...
As I kept watching the episode I did notice some onomatopoeia, when the monsters were driving
through town and making all sorts of noises and sounds. If you ever thought about watching the
series you might want to. The show may seem like it's for little kids, but every episode has a
different meaning. This episode might have been my favorite one because Mr.and Mrs. Paractive
tried to underestimate the girls, but when they were in trouble they decided to break the contact, and
let the Powerpuff Girls save the

Descriptive Essay About Being A Woman
It was a frigid Tuesday morning, dim light of the sun was shining from millions of miles away
brightening my day with its sparkling lights. I walked to my 76 years old grandma (Maya) house
through thin and spiky grass, giving me an unbearable feeling in my foot. As I got to my
grandma's house looking pale and a goof with cold frosty air coming out of my mouth, ringing
the bell on her door, she finally opened it. Then, she gave a tight hug with a big surprise in her face
of the joy of seeing me after a month. Her squeeze gave a feeling of warmth where I lost track of my
self–feeling safe and comfortable like a perfect dream. It had melted all my stress and gave me a
calm atmosphere of delights. As I enter her dark and cozy room, seeing many traditional types of
furniture, it had made me feel like I was living my life in the old days. Her bed felt super soft like
clouds, and I could not help myself sitting on that bed and talking with her about her life
experiences as being a woman. As we sat, she asked, "So, what brings you here today after so
long?" I was in excitement to see myself through her words of her life experiences from her
childhood. As I asked her many questions that involved gender roles of being a woman, she looked
serious with a question mark on her face. We pause for seconds; it was dead quiet, and all I could
hear is the tick–tock of an old cranking sound of a clock. She then responded, "Being a girl, I lived
in a farm–like house, it was a muddy and dirtiest place that no one can imagine living in there
today." Her response had made me terrified because of the description of the condition and the
environment she had lived during her childhood. "My brothers had gone to school while I stay
home with my mother helping her do chores and clean up animals stool, the worst smell God ever
had created." she continued, with shame on her face. I was angrily surprised to hear how much
differentiate her family kept in the gender role of her being a female. In my life, I have never
experienced or seen such a dreadful situation like how my grandma did. Afterward, being not able to
attend school had affected her entire life.
While attending school was not a priority for her because of the stereotypes of

Essay On Power Is Power
Power means to be on top, that there is no competition against you. I personally believe power
gets you respect. People follow a powerful person. A powerful person is someone who does
anything that they please in any particular way without any restraints. Another the way of having
power to be financially successful. Having financial power in my world is another way of being
powerful because money has a huge value in today's society and can affect people's decisions.
Having power is important to me not only for the respect factor but because by being powerful I
would have less financial worries.

For many people doing that is evil something they do not think about until later in the future like
murder: out of the evil things you can do, the worst kind of evil is murder because that is killing
an innocent person or people. Redemption after committing such an act be regained but many
instances you can kill 10 people and be forgiven, but kill one people and no one will forgive you
because of the way you killed the person.
Evil has been around for centuries and as long as there is good, evil will be present as well. When
someone commits an act of evil they are seen as society downfall or dead weight and are always
punished; even if someone has committed an evil act they can still be admired by their friends
and family and they can recover but, not only will they recover for themselves they will help
other people who were in their shoes and they work to guiding the person out of the evil life they
once lived. I believe that you can recover from an act of evil but it would have to be a lesser

Growing Up With Girl Power By Katniss Everdeen
The Girl On Fire
In the last twenty–five years, social and political activists have made tremendous efforts towards
equal opportunity across all spectrums. Girl activists, especially, have largely advocated equality
between women and men due to the notorious gender inequality around the world. While the most
prominent leaders derive from areas of severe gender inequality such as Malala Yousafzai from
Pakistan and Urmila Chaudhary from Nepal, some of the most notable girl activists emanate right
from the United States, where a myth that gender inequality is a misconceived idea of the past, still
continues. Recently, this newfound sense of girl activism has been distinguished throughout pop
culture including movies, songs, and books. Suzanne Collins, author of The Hunger Games trilogy,
created a fictional, yet extraordinary girl activist named Katniss Everdeen, who since the first novel
was published in 2008, has inspired millions of young girls around the world to embrace their inner "
mockingjay" and justify revolution when necessary. Katniss Everdeen is one of the most socially
moving female protagonists in contemporary literary history who continuously illustrates integrity
and strength throughout the trilogy. Hains, author of Growing Up With Girl Power, explains how
prominent female characters have evolved through modern popular culture: "All of these texts could
be interpreted as reflecting shifting cultural discouraged regarding women and power – representing

Power of Women and Women of Power Essay
Women have found power in a variety of ways though out history in their struggle towards justice
and equality. Though personal power can take many forms this paper will primarily focus on
power found through gender solidarity, class issues, race or sexuality. I intend to examine the ways
in which three different women, of different races and times in history, were able to find such
power resulting in a positive change to either their own lives or the lives of others. Those women are:
Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Eleanor Roosevelt and Melba Beals.
Elizabeth Cady Stanton found power through gender solidarity. She was a true feminist concerned
with not just suffrage but total equality for the sexes. Her Declaration of Sentiments brilliantly...show

Roosevelt spoke out for an abundance of causes including women's rights, poverty, discrimination,
children's issues and foreign affairs. Being the President's wife came with certain privileges and
she utilized them on several occasions to further her agendas. According to an article in Women's
America "ER increasingly bypassed State Department restrictions; she worked, often covertly,
with private groups and individuals. She campaigned for a less restrictive refugee policy, pursed
visas for individuals, and answered and passed on to government officials every appeal sent to her"
(Kerber 532). Being of the highest possible social class, Roosevelt found power in her status and
leveraged it to further her own itinerary.
Selecting from only the above mentioned forms of personal power, I must argue that Melba Beals
found power threw race. She used her race, or at least attempted to, to gain equal access to a higher
quality of education and educational resources. The white students also used their race to gain
access to such an education. The difference was that the white students were born with the skin
color that came with those opportunities. This was their white privilege. If all students, regardless of
race, were provided the option to attend either the prestigious Central High School or the
impoverished Horace Mann High School, it is likely that none of them would have chosen to go the
latter.

Thesis Statement On Women Empowerment
Since the inception of this world, women have undeniably played a significant role towards its
development. Having stood alongside men, they have poured in every drop of their blood and sweat
for the cause of humanity. This Earth has, indeed, borne witness to some of the greatest women of
all times. Women like Mother Teresa,Eleanor Roosevelt, Helen Keller and Jane Addams have been
an inspiration for young girls like me, who want to work for the rights of women suffering
persecution around the globe. Despite their efforts to make this world a better place to live, women
are yet treated as inferior citizens deprived of their basic rights. They are restricted to vote, treated
with gender–based discrimination at the workplace and expected to remain confined within the four
walls of their homes as captives. I, for these very reasons, stand firmly against such exploitations of
women's rights and WILL can provide me the perfect platform to voice my concerns.
In addition to that, women are oppressed in every nook and cranny of the world simply because
they are viewed as a soft and weak gender unable to fight for their rights....show more content...
I am not against the superiority of men, rather I stand for the equality of the two sexes because I
believe that superiority is earned, not inherited. Women empowerment in the past has done no
harm to the world except that it led to an equitable distribution of job opportunities, increased
productivity, improved living standards and higher happiness indices. WILL can help me become
an inspiration and a ray of hope for all those women who are denied their rights so they too can
raise their voice against this prejudice. Therefore, I would love to work for a community which is
dedicated to guaranteeing empowerment to young women of today so they indeed can become
leaders of

Recalling the school years or just back to yesterday, the bully has always been present in a
majority of various parts of life. For some, school was a montage of miserable memories and for
others, the unpleasantness of the school yard bully still plays like clips of an old film reel flapping
around and around. Research shows that bullying or mean girls is an imbalance of power that can
cause health, psychological, and educational problems because when girls cannot convey their
feelings, acts of vengeance and resentment build internally, and turns into vastly underestimated
aggression.
From 10%–27% of students are bullied at school, elevating to a whopping 75% on some campuses,
(Wallace 2007). The National Education Association reported that as many as 160,000 or more
students miss school because of relational aggression behavior. Researchers characterize relational
aggression as a type of social violence that can escalate into physical violence so intense that suicide
is a consideration to escape the never ending barrage of meanness. Expending an extraordinary
amount of energy, aggressor and aggresse continually worry about the negative communication
traveling up and down the halls of the school to the gym locker room and to the bus. Many movies
and novels have been written for entertainment on relational aggression stressing in humor the social
deficit of the victimized teens. Thru the movies and novels the storylines are proof that girls are

The most accepted definition for the term patriarchy is the social structure of society based on the

as a backbone for a moral and ethical society. The key structural favour to directly promote gender
equality is economic empowerment. Unless these women have economic autonomy, the struggle for
equality is less viable. If the State raises the levels of literacy and education then it can help
women's empowerment by facilitating entrance into the job market. (Farhed, 2000, p. 463). Women
in North Africa and the Middle East are underrepresented in schools and within the labour force;
they die younger than women in other parts of the world, give birth to large numbers of
closely–spaced children jeopardizing their own health and their child's health. Women because of
their nurturing role in society are expected to protect their children from all harm and are
responsible for their well–being yet they subject their daughters to female genital mutilation (FGM)
to ensure their virginity until marriage. Women and girls all around the world suffer the harmful and
life–threatening effects of traditional and cultural practices that continue under the guise of cultural
and social conformism and religious beliefs. FGM can lead to death and infertility and long term
psychological trauma combined with physical suffering (UNICEF, 2010). In patriarchal societies
men dictate what is considered as an acceptable female image and have control over every aspect

Feminism In The Spice Girls
The Spice Girls believed in "girl power" and empowering women and during the 1990s, feminism
was a larger topic. But what is feminism in the first place? The Merriam–Webster's dictionary
definition of the word feminism is, "the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of
the sexes." This sounds like something good, right, making people equal no matter their gender.
However, many people don't stop to do their own research and get caught up with what their
friend or favorite youtuber says about feminism, and most of the time those people didn't do their
research either. So, there are many misconceptions people make of feminism. For example, some
women are told they cannot be feminists because they like girly things, such as makeup and
fashion. (Wood 2) Telling a girl she can't wear makeup at all if she is a feminist is like telling a
man he can't wear sweatpants at all if he is a businessman. Another is that feminism is about
making women more powerful than men. This is not at all true, for feminism is about equality and
not saying women are superior. Samantha Wood, a feminist, comments on this saying, "Since when
do women have to be more powerful and more appreciated?" (Wood 2) These both go back to the
point of people only believing what they hear and not investigating issues for themselves. A lot more
people (including anti–feminists) would probably support feminism on the spot if it was called
something like equalism. (Wood 1) Now that the definition of

Just under five years ago, on the 9th of October 2012, Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head, the

Girls Trip Movie Analysis
"Girls just want to have fun" in Girls Trip (2017). Directors Malcolm D. Lee and Will Packer put
their stamp on a girl power movie for the summer. This comedy really lets the world in on a great
weekend that four longtime friends, share with laughter, tears and understanding of true love and
friendship among women. The weekend trip takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana at the popular
Essence Festival. The Essence festival celebrates the anniversary of the Essence magazine geared
towards African–American women, therefore the setting for this movie was on point. This movie
has everything all rolled up in one for movie goers mature enough to view rated–R movies. If your
ears are allergic to curse words and sexually explicit language and you squirm at peeks of a
beautiful man's backside then avoid this movie. The supporting characters in the movie are
beautiful men who complement the women so get ready for seriously authentic eye candy. The
costume design is on point, creating each character with their style of clothes to match their lives
and their attitudes as the movie progresses. The four women in the group take the trip after being
apart five years after college. All of the women have taken on their own way of living and they
meet up again to let it all hang out and have fun as they did when they lived together in a college
dorm. Ryan Pierce (Regina Hall) invited to the Essence Festival to speak about her book that she
co–writes with her husband Stewart (Mike Colter).

Essay about Women in Leadership Roles
INTRODUCTION
More and more women are rising to the leadership challenge, even in some of the most
male–dominated industries. The increase in the number of women attending college, the increasing
number of women in the workplace or starting their own business has demonstrated to men who own
businesses that women can be both managers and mothers, thus showing their male counterpart that
women can in fact "do it all".
In this paper the history of women in the workforce will be outlined, as well as the challenges they
face. The changing attitudes towards women taking over family businesses will be looked at briefly,
how women lead in comparison to how men lead, and a comparison of their leadership style will also
be discussed.

Those days have since past. As women are achieving higher levels of education and are being
employed in more prominent positions, their leadership roles in family organizations have
increased. Many young women are refusing to accept the rule of "primogeniture" (Nelton, 1999).
Primogeniture is defined as a birthright or an inheritance. Although women are making great strides
in this arena, there is still the feeling out there that the son should be considered first and the
daughter as a second option, only if there is no son or if the son declines the offer. But, Nelton says
that, "young women by and large feel that if they want to go into the family business, the
opportunity is there." In each of the cases described by Nelton, the fathers encouraged their
daughters to become involved in the family business. As well, each father let his daughter run the
show once she was named CEO–the surest sign of support (Nelton, 1999). In more and more
families and in business in general, gender is becoming not an issue. As roles increasingly change
on the home front, the business world will soon mirror the changes taking place in the family
structure. Nelton also urges women in leadership roles to not lose sight of the bottom line. She says
it is "easy for women to get caught up in the management of people" (Nelton, 1999). She goes on to
say that if you cannot prove that you are also profit–driven, you will never make it to the successor
level.

Definition Essay On A Strong Woman
A woman with a voice is, by definition, a strong woman. Maya Angelou once said "I love to see a
young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's hard. You've got to go out and kick butt.
If you ask different women what the definition of being a strong woman is, you will get many
different answers. Growing up I had different ideas of what a strong woman is. I thought being more
masculine meant you were a strong woman. Strong women have some of the most flourishing
characteristics. A lot of women think being a strong woman is being something they're not. Being a
strong woman means being unapologetically, fiercely, and wholeheartedly you.

The Girl Power Phenomenon
Feminism has been around for many decades with women fighting tooth and nail for equal rights
among the genders. With so many centuries behind us seeing women inferior to men and deemed
lesser and incapable, the world we live in today sees what feminism has worked so hard to achieve.
Today's generation of young women reap the benefits of feminist activism and have grown up with
the mindset that they are equal to the male gender and just as capable and of the same value. In
saying this though, feminism is far from achieving full equality and although it is not entirely
obvious in today's society, young women can acknowledge that the revolution is unfinished (Sameh,
1998). This is where post feminism movements come in, in particular for the...show more content...
Unfortunately, this enforces a particular standard of beauty in society that lacks room for the
diversity of women and may leave many women feeling insecure and self–conscious about their
appearance and of lesser value than other women who may be deemed more attractive in regards to
society's narrow perspective of a women's beauty. This aspect of the girl power phenomenon also
neglects the consideration that not all women are financially independent or have enough money to
buy the makeup, the clothes and the shoes that have now become attached to what it means to be a
woman and ultimately feminism itself (Sameh, 1997). Some women may not have access to the
resources either. This leaves a lot of women feeling left out an insecure which opposes the idea
that girl power brings women together (Sameh, 1997). On the opposite end of the spectrum, many
women may simply not want to wear makeup and dress in the way that girl power in the media and
popular culture encourages. This marginalizes a lot of women simply because they refuse to follow
trends and conform to what the media and popular culture have manipulated society into believing

Essay On Girl Power

  • 1. "All women and girls should have power over their own bodies and the right to decide whether and when to have children. Reproductive health is about safe pregnancy and childbirth, prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, and family planning and access to contraception." This is the UN definition of reproductive rights, and is created based on UN's Millennium Development Goals. The goals as well as this explanation are something all nations should thrive towards. I will take a look at Norway, and how the situation regarding reproductive capacities, as well as reproductive rights, as this goes hand in hand. There is two reasons I am looking at Norway, one being that I am myself from Norway, and can on some level speak based on my own experience. The main reason however is that Norway has many times, and by many different surveys, been rated the best country in the world to live in , and can therefore be seen as a primary example on reproductive rights. I will take a look at the different policies put in place in Norway, as well, as the tittle states what claims partners, family and the Norwegian state have regarding reproductive capacities. First of a brief run–through of the Norwegian family life. The period after World War II (1940–1945) and until the end of the 60s are often called the "housewife 's prime." The mother was home with the children while the father worked outside the home. Beyond 70's there was great demand for labour and it was more common Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Girl Power Was Around In The 2000's Girl Power was around in the 1990's and early 2000's. The iconic phrase girl power was made popular by the spice girls in the mid to late 1990's. Girl power also linked to a third wave feminism, the Spice Girls got the attention of woman as well of men. One of the earliest uses of the phrase "Girl Power" was in 1987 by a London–based 'capella' all–girl group called 'Mint Juleps' in a song entitled 'Girl to the Power of 6'. The phrase is sometimes spelled as "grrrl power", initially associated with Riot Grrrl. There are a wide range of other female artist who have used the influences from girl power. Here are a few: Alicia Keys – Girl On Fire Katy Perry – Roar Pink – Most Girls BeyoncГ© – Run The World (Girls) Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay On The Power Of Power In Jane Eyre One of the main problems Jane struggled with while falling and being in love Rochester was the power dynamic. Mr. Rochester has a more powerful position due to his money and station in society, but most of the Mr. Rochester's power that Jane struggles against stems from him being a man. Rochester's actions toward Jane after their engagement cause Jane to verbally retaliate against the way women are treated, which also shows the stage they are in in their relationship and many piecing of foreshadowing. This passage opens with Jane struggling to get Mr. Rochester out of the silk warehouse and then the jeweler's shop. Immediately her anger at how women are treated is presented when her cheeks burn "with a sense of annoyance and degradation" at everything Mr. Rochester buys her (Bronte 241). When Mr. Rochester smiles at Jane she compares it to how "a sultan might [...] bestow on a slave his gold and gems had enriched" (Bronte 241). Instead of letting the thought flee her mind, Jane criticizes Mr. Rochester's look and threatens to continue to wear her Lowood frocks. Jane's threat conveys that she scorns the way women are treated and she will not let a man treat her like a lesser being. Seeing where Jane's comment is coming from, Mr. Rochester remarks that he would not trade "one little English girl for the grand Turk's whole seraglio" and this comment leads to a playful, yet serious conversation of what Jane would do if Mr. Rochester was a sultan who had a seraglio (Bronte Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. How To Write An Essay On The Powerpuff Girls An accident made in the lab by father Utonium, created his three little girls, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. The animated series "The Powerpuff Girls" was created by Craig McCracken and directed by Lauren Faust and Genndy Tartakovsky. The show revolves around the adventure of three little girls trying to save their city, Townsville, from all of the evil monsters and bad people. Blossom is the leader of the trio, while Bubbles is the sweet blue eyed one, and Buttercup is the toughest one of them all. "Girls Gone Mild," was the episode I decided to watch. We learn how an anti–Powerpuff group doesn't want the girls using their powers anymore. In this episode we learn how Mr. and Mrs. Practive have formed an anti–powerpuff group, so the girls can stop using their superpowers in Townsville. The parents formed a group called PAPP (Parents Against Powerpuff) so the girls weren't allowed to use their powers. They were told if any of the rules were broken they would be sued. As we go further into the episode Stanley and Sandra learn the town is defenseless without the girls superpowers, because a group called "Dooks of Doom, soon comes to destroy the town, while everyone just hides or runs away. In one part of the episode, when the "Dooks of Doom" were coming into the...show more content... As I kept watching the episode I did notice some onomatopoeia, when the monsters were driving through town and making all sorts of noises and sounds. If you ever thought about watching the series you might want to. The show may seem like it's for little kids, but every episode has a different meaning. This episode might have been my favorite one because Mr.and Mrs. Paractive tried to underestimate the girls, but when they were in trouble they decided to break the contact, and let the Powerpuff Girls save the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. Descriptive Essay About Being A Woman It was a frigid Tuesday morning, dim light of the sun was shining from millions of miles away brightening my day with its sparkling lights. I walked to my 76 years old grandma (Maya) house through thin and spiky grass, giving me an unbearable feeling in my foot. As I got to my grandma's house looking pale and a goof with cold frosty air coming out of my mouth, ringing the bell on her door, she finally opened it. Then, she gave a tight hug with a big surprise in her face of the joy of seeing me after a month. Her squeeze gave a feeling of warmth where I lost track of my self–feeling safe and comfortable like a perfect dream. It had melted all my stress and gave me a calm atmosphere of delights. As I enter her dark and cozy room, seeing many traditional types of furniture, it had made me feel like I was living my life in the old days. Her bed felt super soft like clouds, and I could not help myself sitting on that bed and talking with her about her life experiences as being a woman. As we sat, she asked, "So, what brings you here today after so long?" I was in excitement to see myself through her words of her life experiences from her childhood. As I asked her many questions that involved gender roles of being a woman, she looked serious with a question mark on her face. We pause for seconds; it was dead quiet, and all I could hear is the tick–tock of an old cranking sound of a clock. She then responded, "Being a girl, I lived in a farm–like house, it was a muddy and dirtiest place that no one can imagine living in there today." Her response had made me terrified because of the description of the condition and the environment she had lived during her childhood. "My brothers had gone to school while I stay home with my mother helping her do chores and clean up animals stool, the worst smell God ever had created." she continued, with shame on her face. I was angrily surprised to hear how much differentiate her family kept in the gender role of her being a female. In my life, I have never experienced or seen such a dreadful situation like how my grandma did. Afterward, being not able to attend school had affected her entire life. While attending school was not a priority for her because of the stereotypes of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A powerful person is someone who does anything that they please in any particular way without any restraints. Another the way of having power to be financially successful. Having financial power in my world is another way of being powerful because money has a huge value in today's society and can affect people's decisions. Having power is important to me not only for the respect factor but because by being powerful I would have less financial worries. • 9. Growing Up With Girl Power By Katniss Everdeen The Girl On Fire In the last twenty–five years, social and political activists have made tremendous efforts towards equal opportunity across all spectrums. Girl activists, especially, have largely advocated equality between women and men due to the notorious gender inequality around the world. While the most prominent leaders derive from areas of severe gender inequality such as Malala Yousafzai from Pakistan and Urmila Chaudhary from Nepal, some of the most notable girl activists emanate right from the United States, where a myth that gender inequality is a misconceived idea of the past, still continues. Recently, this newfound sense of girl activism has been distinguished throughout pop culture including movies, songs, and books. Suzanne Collins, author of The Hunger Games trilogy, created a fictional, yet extraordinary girl activist named Katniss Everdeen, who since the first novel was published in 2008, has inspired millions of young girls around the world to embrace their inner " mockingjay" and justify revolution when necessary. Katniss Everdeen is one of the most socially moving female protagonists in contemporary literary history who continuously illustrates integrity and strength throughout the trilogy. Hains, author of Growing Up With Girl Power, explains how prominent female characters have evolved through modern popular culture: "All of these texts could be interpreted as reflecting shifting cultural discouraged regarding women and power – representing worlds in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Power of Women and Women of Power Essay Women have found power in a variety of ways though out history in their struggle towards justice and equality. Though personal power can take many forms this paper will primarily focus on power found through gender solidarity, class issues, race or sexuality. I intend to examine the ways in which three different women, of different races and times in history, were able to find such power resulting in a positive change to either their own lives or the lives of others. Those women are: Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Eleanor Roosevelt and Melba Beals. Elizabeth Cady Stanton found power through gender solidarity. She was a true feminist concerned with not just suffrage but total equality for the sexes. Her Declaration of Sentiments brilliantly...show more content... Roosevelt spoke out for an abundance of causes including women's rights, poverty, discrimination, children's issues and foreign affairs. Being the President's wife came with certain privileges and she utilized them on several occasions to further her agendas. According to an article in Women's America "ER increasingly bypassed State Department restrictions; she worked, often covertly, with private groups and individuals. She campaigned for a less restrictive refugee policy, pursed visas for individuals, and answered and passed on to government officials every appeal sent to her" (Kerber 532). Being of the highest possible social class, Roosevelt found power in her status and leveraged it to further her own itinerary. Selecting from only the above mentioned forms of personal power, I must argue that Melba Beals found power threw race. She used her race, or at least attempted to, to gain equal access to a higher quality of education and educational resources. The white students also used their race to gain access to such an education. The difference was that the white students were born with the skin color that came with those opportunities. This was their white privilege. If all students, regardless of race, were provided the option to attend either the prestigious Central High School or the impoverished Horace Mann High School, it is likely that none of them would have chosen to go the latter. • 11. Thesis Statement On Women Empowerment Since the inception of this world, women have undeniably played a significant role towards its development. Having stood alongside men, they have poured in every drop of their blood and sweat for the cause of humanity. This Earth has, indeed, borne witness to some of the greatest women of all times. Women like Mother Teresa,Eleanor Roosevelt, Helen Keller and Jane Addams have been an inspiration for young girls like me, who want to work for the rights of women suffering persecution around the globe. Despite their efforts to make this world a better place to live, women are yet treated as inferior citizens deprived of their basic rights. They are restricted to vote, treated with gender–based discrimination at the workplace and expected to remain confined within the four walls of their homes as captives. I, for these very reasons, stand firmly against such exploitations of women's rights and WILL can provide me the perfect platform to voice my concerns. In addition to that, women are oppressed in every nook and cranny of the world simply because they are viewed as a soft and weak gender unable to fight for their rights....show more content... Women empowerment in the past has done no harm to the world except that it led to an equitable distribution of job opportunities, increased productivity, improved living standards and higher happiness indices. WILL can help me become an inspiration and a ray of hope for all those women who are denied their rights so they too can raise their voice against this prejudice. Therefore, I would love to work for a community which is dedicated to guaranteeing empowerment to young women of today so they indeed can become leaders of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Recalling the school years or just back to yesterday, the bully has always been present in a majority of various parts of life. For some, school was a montage of miserable memories and for others, the unpleasantness of the school yard bully still plays like clips of an old film reel flapping around and around. Research shows that bullying or mean girls is an imbalance of power that can cause health, psychological, and educational problems because when girls cannot convey their feelings, acts of vengeance and resentment build internally, and turns into vastly underestimated aggression. From 10%–27% of students are bullied at school, elevating to a whopping 75% on some campuses, (Wallace 2007). The National Education Association reported that as many as 160,000 or more students miss school because of relational aggression behavior. Researchers characterize relational aggression as a type of social violence that can escalate into physical violence so intense that suicide is a consideration to escape the never ending barrage of meanness. Expending an extraordinary amount of energy, aggressor and aggresse continually worry about the negative communication traveling up and down the halls of the school to the gym locker room and to the bus. Many movies and novels have been written for entertainment on relational aggression stressing in humor the social deficit of the victimized teens. Critically review how we still live in a male dominated society where patriarchal power still holds the 'key' to the door (s) and windows of 'freedom', self–identity and expression. Critically engage with this statement drawing on key writers in the field of religion, ethnicity and gender relations The most accepted definition for the term patriarchy is the social structure of society based on the father having primary responsibility for the welfare of and authority over their families. Islamic practices are emphasized on the role of the family and are of great importance as a backbone for a moral and ethical society. The key structural favour to directly promote gender equality is economic empowerment. Unless these women have economic autonomy, the struggle for equality is less viable. If the State raises the levels of literacy and education then it can help women's empowerment by facilitating entrance into the job market. (Farhed, 2000, p. 463). Women in North Africa and the Middle East are underrepresented in schools and within the labour force; they die younger than women in other parts of the world, give birth to large numbers of closely–spaced children jeopardizing their own health and their child's health. Women because of their nurturing role in society are expected to protect their children from all harm and are responsible for their well–being yet they subject their daughters to female genital mutilation (FGM) to ensure their virginity until marriage. Women and girls all around the world suffer the harmful and life–threatening effects of traditional and cultural practices that continue under the guise of cultural and social conformism and religious beliefs. FGM can lead to death and infertility and long term psychological trauma combined with physical suffering (UNICEF, 2010). The Merriam–Webster's dictionary definition of the word feminism is, "the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes." This sounds like something good, right, making people equal no matter their gender. However, many people don't stop to do their own research and get caught up with what their friend or favorite youtuber says about feminism, and most of the time those people didn't do their research either. So, there are many misconceptions people make of feminism. For example, some women are told they cannot be feminists because they like girly things, such as makeup and fashion. (Wood 2) Telling a girl she can't wear makeup at all if she is a feminist is like telling a man he can't wear sweatpants at all if he is a businessman. Another is that feminism is about making women more powerful than men. This is not at all true, for feminism is about equality and not saying women are superior. Samantha Wood, a feminist, comments on this saying, "Since when do women have to be more powerful and more appreciated?" (Wood 2) These both go back to the point of people only believing what they hear and not investigating issues for themselves. A lot more people (including anti–feminists) would probably support feminism on the spot if it was called something like equalism. (Wood 1) Now that the definition of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. The Great Gatsby Feminine Power Essay Just under five years ago, on the 9th of October 2012, Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head, the bullet traveled through her neck and lodged in her shoulder. The Taliban had issued death threats towards Malala for her activism, such as going to her exam when girls were not permitted to receive education. Subsequently, in her defiance, Malala put herself in danger, nonetheless, the 15 year old was undeterred in her fight for what she believed in. F.Scott Fitzgerald embodied this drive in his characters, even his female ones. Although, The Great Gatsby was not entertained around Jordan Baker, Myrtle Wilson, and Daisy Buchanan, the women in Fitzgerald's story each held feminine power, this power was shown in their physical beauty,...show more content... Additionally, Daisy and Jordan use their opposing beauties to their advantages, Daisy takes her exceptional looks to live a life of wealth, choosing riches over love, expressed the night before her wedding "'Here dearest' . Tel's all Daisy's change' her mine' ...She wouldn't let go of the letter...Next day she married Tom Buchanan without so much as a shiver..."(P.80–81). Jordan, Jordan uses her fair looks to be anything but fair, such as "At her first big golf tournament there was a row that nearly reached the newspapers – a suggestion that she had moved her ball from a bad lie in the semi–final round. The thing approached the proportions of a scandal – then died away. A caddy retracted his statement, and the only other witness admitted that he might have been mistaken."(P.61–62). Similarly, Myrtle Wilson used her looks as a gate way into getting what she pleases. Although, she is on the opposite side of the spectrum; where Daisy and Jordan are upper class, elegant beauties, Myrtle falls between the lines of lower and middle classes. Class status does nothing to deter Myrtle's gift in the looks department.Upon introduction to Myrtle, we are instantly aware of the many differences between her and the two girls, such as " Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 17. Essay about Women in Leadership Roles INTRODUCTION More and more women are rising to the leadership challenge, even in some of the most male–dominated industries. The increase in the number of women attending college, the increasing number of women in the workplace or starting their own business has demonstrated to men who own businesses that women can be both managers and mothers, thus showing their male counterpart that women can in fact "do it all". In this paper the history of women in the workforce will be outlined, as well as the challenges they face. The changing attitudes towards women taking over family businesses will be looked at briefly, how women lead in comparison to how men lead, and a comparison of their leadership style will also be discussed. HISTORY AND...show more content... Those days have since past. As women are achieving higher levels of education and are being employed in more prominent positions, their leadership roles in family organizations have increased. Many young women are refusing to accept the rule of "primogeniture" (Nelton, 1999). Primogeniture is defined as a birthright or an inheritance. Although women are making great strides in this arena, there is still the feeling out there that the son should be considered first and the daughter as a second option, only if there is no son or if the son declines the offer. But, Nelton says that, "young women by and large feel that if they want to go into the family business, the opportunity is there." In each of the cases described by Nelton, the fathers encouraged their daughters to become involved in the family business. As well, each father let his daughter run the show once she was named CEO–the surest sign of support (Nelton, 1999). In more and more families and in business in general, gender is becoming not an issue. As roles increasingly change on the home front, the business world will soon mirror the changes taking place in the family structure. Nelton also urges women in leadership roles to not lose sight of the bottom line. She says it is "easy for women to get caught up in the management of people" (Nelton, 1999). She goes on to say that if you cannot prove that you are also profit–driven, you will never make it to the successor level. LEADERSHIP STYLE В– WOMEN Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Definition Essay On A Strong Woman A woman with a voice is, by definition, a strong woman. Maya Angelou once said "I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's hard. You've got to go out and kick butt. If you ask different women what the definition of being a strong woman is, you will get many different answers. Growing up I had different ideas of what a strong woman is. I thought being more masculine meant you were a strong woman. Strong women have some of the most flourishing characteristics. A lot of women think being a strong woman is being something they're not. Being a strong woman means being unapologetically, fiercely, and wholeheartedly you. A strong woman knows who she is. She shows her authentic self and honors her instincts. She is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. The Girl Power Phenomenon Feminism has been around for many decades with women fighting tooth and nail for equal rights among the genders. With so many centuries behind us seeing women inferior to men and deemed lesser and incapable, the world we live in today sees what feminism has worked so hard to achieve. Today's generation of young women reap the benefits of feminist activism and have grown up with the mindset that they are equal to the male gender and just as capable and of the same value. In saying this though, feminism is far from achieving full equality and although it is not entirely obvious in today's society, young women can acknowledge that the revolution is unfinished (Sameh, 1998). This is where post feminism movements come in, in particular for the...show more content... Unfortunately, this enforces a particular standard of beauty in society that lacks room for the diversity of women and may leave many women feeling insecure and self–conscious about their appearance and of lesser value than other women who may be deemed more attractive in regards to society's narrow perspective of a women's beauty. This aspect of the girl power phenomenon also neglects the consideration that not all women are financially independent or have enough money to buy the makeup, the clothes and the shoes that have now become attached to what it means to be a woman and ultimately feminism itself (Sameh, 1997). Some women may not have access to the resources either. This leaves a lot of women feeling left out an insecure which opposes the idea that girl power brings women together (Sameh, 1997). On the opposite end of the spectrum, many women may simply not want to wear makeup and dress in the way that girl power in the media and popular culture encourages. This marginalizes a lot of women simply because they refuse to follow trends and conform to what the media and popular culture have manipulated society into believing defines a women. Appearance has played a primary role in the post–feminism girl power phenomenon, and although it is great that women are feeling empowered and want to dress up and look attractive to feel good and confident within Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Whether we are observing the Somali traditions in 'Godka Cirka' or follow the hopes and dreams of a working–class teen in 'About a Girl', films with these kinds of subjects are different from the norms of traditionally portrayed narratives. Like in literature, the characteristics of subversion are defined by their ability not to portray one side of a particular subject or character. Collectively, filmmaking is dominated by The Male Gaze, which emphasizes the male perspective on female narrative.
