The World Of Our World
We are told from birth that all seven of us are like islands. We have no connection and no
communication. Each of our islands has the SC, Superior Class, the TC, Traditional Class and the
GC or Ground Class. "The only thing you ever need to know is the information that SC has." We are
told to spread that information and only that information, and if we do not, we are warned that
punishment will come.
Our world revolves around our internet, and SC is all knowing. So they give us all the information
we will ever get and ever need through the internet. Everyone in TC does the same thing everyday.
There is no change and no excitement in our lives beside the news that we receive in the morning
from SC. I slipped out of bed in my all white silky night gown, and I treked slowly to my front door.
No one ever knocks, and there is no doorbell, but every morning there was something. Some days it
was a new computer; other days it was a notifier, a small screen that plays a message through the
internet after it does a facial and retinal scan. That day I had gotten a drive. The drive was probably
the most low tech and oldest way of giving information that we still had. It was a small chip, about
the length and width of your pinky nail. It had a small speaker and microphone in it that would give
you some basic instructions and make you go through a short security check.
I grabbed the drive off of my doorstep. The drive had projected loudly as soon as I had picked it up,

The Events That Caused The World To Change
The view of the world is continually changing. Different events have happened throughout history
that have caused the view of the world to change. New discoveries were made along with
explorations. Also, new ideas were brought to the public, and absolutism rose. Through new
discoveries and exploration, the enlightenment, and absolutism, the view of the world has changed.
Initially, new discoveries of the world came about through exploration. Europeans were motivated
by gold, God, and glory to begin exploring the world. They were seeking to find riches, new
converts to Christianity, and personal fame. The Spanish explorers were looking for an all–sea trade
route and ended up discovering precious metals which boosted their financial gain. Exploration had
a huge impact on the view of the world. New crops such as potatoes, rice, maize, and tobacco were
discovered. Inflation occurred along with the expansion of the middle class. New economic and ...

The enlightenment was an intellectual movement throughout the 17th and 18th centuries involving
the natural and social sciences. Four ideas that emerged from the enlightenment were reason, liberty,
happiness, and progress. During this movement all areas of scientific thought were challenged. The
view of astronomy changed after Copernicus came up with the Heliocentric Theory (the sun was the
center of the universe). Before this theory, everyone believed the earth was the center. Also, the law
of gravity and three laws of motions were brought about by Newton. The enlightenment thinkers
believed in human perfection and human reason. They distrusted monarchy institutions and the
church. The criticized religious customs and disliked tradition. The enlightenment had a big impact
on the view of the British and French development. It is one of the influences in the French and
American revolutions. The enlightenment definitely impacted the view of the

Disney World Caption
Social Media has a long–lasting effect on our society today. Many people base their perception of
someone off their social media pages (i.e. how many likes they receive, how often they post, or their
captions). I chose to analyze the picture above due to the uplifting sense it gives off. As you lay eyes
on this picture, most people can immediately tell where it was taken, Disney World. Disney World is
often referred to as "The happiest place on earth", and portrayed as an attraction where people of
any age can have a great time. As you can see in this picture, my friend Dante and I are exceedingly
happy. We're not smiling like most people would in a picture, but we're throwing up peace signs in
front of the Magic Kingdom which is Disney World's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They typically convey what you're trying to get across by sharing the picture with your family and
friends. The caption I placed under this picture conveys that it is almost impossible not to be happy
in Disney World. It shows that I truly enjoyed my time here and I was extremely delighted with my
experience. At the end of my caption I placed two emoji's, a star and a crown. I placed these emoji's
there to emphasize the feeling of magic that I experienced in Disney World. I enjoy including
emoji's at the end of my captions because I believe it adds to the glamour and fun of your Instagram
profile. In addition to the emoji's, I included a hashtag "towerofterrordidntphaseme", which is placed
there to emanate a sarcastic feeling. Tower of terror is typically classified as one of the scarier rides
at Disney World, as a result many would interpret this hashtag as a joke and assume that tower of
terror tormented me, in which it did. I also included a hashtag "europetodisney", which implies
Dante and I traveled to Europe together prior to Disney World, showing that we are close friends
who enjoy traveling together. This caption is simply one sentence, but an abundance of ideas and
feelings can be

Stereotypes Are In Today's World
I would have to say one thing that really pisses me off is how judgmental

people are in todays world
and how it creates so many different social classes . Not all, but some people like to act like they are
psychics. They think they can tell who you are and what kind person you are ,what kind person you
have been, and, what kind of person you're going to be just by passing you in the hallway. They can
tell all this without even saying a single word to you. For example I was held back in the eighth
grade because I failed my math class with flying colors so my parents thought it best that I hopefully
mature and grow up a little before I got to high school. In doing, I left my comfort zone I had been
with my class since I started their

Empathy: The Oppurtunity Of The World
As a whole, we do not acknowlage what goes on in people's lives other than our own. Most people
are selfish in everything they do, and it seems we will step on who ever or what ever it takes to get
to the top. The world is becoming a place where you are only important if you are the richest or the
person in charge only to make ourselves better, not taking any time to stop and try to help others
become better and more successful.Another thing we dont think about is that when we only focus on
ourselves, we are taking all of the avaliable oppurtunities that we may not need (just want) from
someone else who might have put the same oppurtunity to better use. Empathy is the understanding
you have either from being in the same situation as others, or being able to put yourself in their
shoes, seeing the world from their prespective. It's not until we can step into someone elses shoes or
realize the problem first hand that we can open our eyes and see how the world is being impacted,
not just "your world". ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
all we thought about was what we lost, not what we gained. This is the mentality of the world now,
empathy is present, but all of our empathy is focused on ourselves. When we see our lives, we tend
to see the worst, or what we dont have and focus on everyone else. When people deal with loss, they
will feel empathy, it's just a matter of how they deal with it. Some people will become depressed and
the economy will become run down and people start playing the "poor me" and "it's not fair" cards.
In some instances though, people will fight back and stand up for what they believe is rightfully
theirs; and this is what ends up starting

Technology In Brave New World
Brave New World Essay We live in a world where people are becoming increasingly more reliant on
technology. We've make digital watches so we don't have to take an extra 15 seconds to count the
hands on a watch. We've made escalators so we can stand still while we go up the next level instead
of walking. We have become obsessed with the idea of using technology to save us from actually
having to do things that take a little extra time or require some actual thought. Postman's suggestion
that our world today is becoming more like Brave New World is correct because people have
become more and more lazy and driven by easy pleasure. Younger generations are now being raised
in front of a tv or an iPad instead of going outside and playing. They don't look up from their phones
to see what is going on in the world around them. Even with my generation today people can't tell
you what is going on in the world around them but they are so concerned with the social media. We
have lost our interest in actual real life problems and have become addicted to phones. ... Show

they hear from outside sources. With people always uploading such strong opinions on the internet it
is easy for kids to believe these things and be influenced by what they read. The children in Brave
New World heard certain ideas repeated so many times that it becomes their reality. It is the same

Metaphors And The Natural World
Whether we know it or not, we make use of metaphors daily in many ways to help us make sense of
the world. A metaphor is defined as a figure of speech that identifies an object or an idea that is
similar to an unrelated thing. The use of metaphors and the language that they portray help to create
new insight into the universe. They not only help classify the natural world, and help interpret the
scientific world, but they also set outlooks on individuals culture and society; however, some may
argue that metaphors are an impractical use of our language that only complicate things that can
instead be stated clearer. Our perspectives and the way we think are directly linked to how we talk
and communicate in in the natural world and how we are viwed by society. This is explained further
in detailed in Metaphors We Live By, because it clearly shows how individuals shape their
perspectives based on their experiences in society: "In most of the little things we do every day, we
simply think and act more or less automatically along certain lines," (Lackoff & Johnson 3). This
furthers proves how much metaphors can affect the way we think and the way we see the world
from what we undergo and experience in our life––it is what gives us an opinion on certain matters
of race, gender, religion, etc. We all think and act according to how we interact with our society and
it is the power of metaphors that help guide and change one's beliefs to help portray our own
perspective for others.

Credible World Study
To study the world, professionals of many fields, including science, use simplified models of the
world so they can examine how the relation(s) found in the model may take place the real world.
Some economists, according to Sugden, prefer to use economic models as a sort of theoretical study
which may or may not have any connection to the real world. However, in his paper, Sugden argues
that economic models can tell us something about the real world, and in doing so presents two
models which he claims attempt to explain something in our world. This paper will examine what
the term credible world means by focusing on Schelling's checkerboard model of racial sorting. I
will then argue that Sugden's credible worlds model is not useful. In the ... Show more content on

Let's say you agree with the idea that mild preferences lead to a sharp segregation in communities.
This does not really tell us anything more than we could have already obtained from looking at
natural models. There is nothing in the model that lends any sort of credibility to the causal
connection Schelling is asserting that he could not obtain through observations of the real world. His
model may be true, in the sense that it describes a process seen in the world, but we are left without
any direction of where to go next. There is not tests or observations that could be done which could
show that the model is wrong. Perhaps you could make a new model based on other factors that are
present in the real–world, that would cause the effect we see in the real–world. But that does not
distinguish which model is the correct model. There is no basis which we can use to reject

The Old World And New World
When the Old World and New World collided, different countries from the Old World reacted
differently. The French reacted positively with the Native Americans and became allies with them.
The English tried to steal the natives land, disregarding that the natives were there first. The Spanish
pursued to conquer Southern America, in hope to discover gold. All three countries came in search
for different things but all came in contact with the Natives.
When Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer, was sent over by Spain to find a passage to the
eastern side of Asia in 1492, he unintentionally discovered the Americas, first founded by its native
inhabitants. He interacted with the Natives, whom he believed were the Indians. The first Natives
Columbus encountered was the Tainos. Spain's main goal of finding the New World was to find
gold, so when the Tainos were wearing gold jewelry, the Spaniards figured they were on the right
track for finding a place to dig for gold. Later they discovered the Tainos only obtained only a small
amount of gold. Columbus then took some Tainos back with him in hope to enslave the new people.
The monarch denied the request for enslavement, but in 1520, only thirty eight years after Columbus
founded the New World, all the Tainos were extinct due to the disease he brought. Spain, still with
the hope of finding gold, wanted to conquer the rest of the New World. He brought over horses and
cows which were important because the only beast of burden the

World Cafe Method: Essay
Explanation of the method (around 500–600)
According to the information from The World Café (2008), the process of Café conversation starts at
small café–style tables with four to five people each. Individuals will switch to another table on each
round of conversation which takes approximately 20–30 minutes. After completing the first round of
conversation, one person will remain at the table and become the "host" for the explanation of the
main ideas, themes and questions from the previous conversations. While the others, as travellers,
which carry key ideas, themes and questions to link and connect into their new conversations. Both

There are hint to construct powerful questions, the host just to remember that avoid any narrow, yes
or no, response and develop more open and wider question.
The fourth principle is to encourage everyone's contribution. Contribution not limited to verbal
speaker only, but also the listener or observer in the conversation. Passive people well in observing
that helps others discover the deeper patterns of situation. Juanita & David (2005) believe
enlivening the culture of connection is one of the unique contributions as the conversation
encourages the connections among people with ideas and insights.
The fifth principle is about cross–pollinated and connects diverse perspectives. Participants will
shift to another table when the first round of conversation ends, and the table hosts will share their
collective discoveries on the tablecloth, new findings may emerge on the table provided by the next
participants. The shift enables participants not only engage in diverse insights but also access mutual
intelligence.
The seven world café design principles. When used in combination, also create a kind of
"conversational greenhouse," nurturing the conditions for the rapid propagation of actionable
knowledge. These design principles are not limited to a formal Café event. They can also be used to
focus and enhance the quality of other key conversations– enabling you to draw on the talent and
wisdom of your organization or community to a

The Old World : The Discovery Of The New World
In all of history, there have been few situations that could affect a majority of the world at once.
Through a series of events, one of these situations may be the discovery of the New World. This so–
called discovery of the Americas had enriching effects for Europe, and catastrophic results for
Indigenous Americans. While those from the Old World acquired wealth and curiosity, those in the
New World were being conquered and forced into submission while dying of disease and losing
crops. Those who prospered only reigned by stepping on the heads of the unknowing. Europeans,
from the Old World, were intrigued by these new continents. They could never have expected entire
new landmasses, and these feelings were even more so for the ones who landed there. While these
ship landers originally thought they had reached the Indies and Asia (see: the journal of Christopher
Columbus), it soon became clear that the land had never been seen before by exploring eyes. Many
who were on the ships wrote about the native people they saw, and how radically different they
were. From eating on the ground to wearing nothing at all (as stated in Amerigo Vespucci's
accounts), these people made Europeans interested. So, more explorers came to see if these rumors
were true. They would soon find that they were, and news of these true messages would soon
become the fascination of the continent. After finding the indigenous people, there was much debate
on what to do with them. Interacting peacefully

The Old World : Columbus And The New World
""Pre–Columbian" refers to the period before Columbus landed in the New World", Carol Strickland
wrote in the book The Annotated Mona Lisa (20). Five hundred and twenty–five years ago,
Christopher Columbus decided to travel by three ships to discover new countries in the western
hemisphere. Columbus and a hundred other men sought out to find a new route for trading and also
to discover Asia. One of his main goals during this travel was to find civilization somewhere other
than where he was, the Old World. On the way of attempting to find these places, Christopher
Columbus bumped into what he refers to as the New World. If it wasn't for finding the New World,
the people who were on the ships would have never made it to China alive. There were limited
resources on the boat, that would not last throughout the whole trip. When reaching the New World,
he discovered there were people living within the society in villages. I believe the New World has
given the Old World new opportunities for livestock and animals. This was the start of making the
Old World a better place. Christopher Columbus and a hundred men discovered the New World on
accident. Even though it was accidental, the crew found the New World and it opened many doors
for people living within the Old World. With the New World, the Old World had changed
dramatically. It changed because food like tomatoes, potatoes, chocolate, tobacco, corn, and horses
were all shipped to the Old World. The people Columbus found living

Being the first African American Principal dancer at American Ballet Theatre is a big deal. Principal
is the highest rank one can become at a major dance company, and rarely does anyone ever make it

dancers of varying racial and economic backgrounds". Not only does she just want to change the
dance world racially and economically, Misty wants to break away from the stereotypical ballet
dancer– that of a Russian ballerina type, a skinny, tall woman. Standing at 5'2 and very muscular,
Misty had and still has trouble finding leotards that would fit her type of body. She hopes to create
dance clothing for "fuller figured dancers and athletes" (Woods). She has joined American Ballet
Theatre's Project Plie Program, a program that helps mentor dance teachers in "racially diverse
communities" ("Misty Copeland"). Boys & Girls Club, Ballet Austin, Cincinnati Ballet, and Orlando
Ballet partnered with American Ballet Theatre in this project (Collins). Dance studios who could
never afford master classes which would give their dancers the opportunity to learn from other
teachers were able to achieve that because of Misty Copeland. She would go to their studios and

world. Misty travels to public schools to inspire young children ("Misty Copeland") and she talks to
young African Americans that wanted to do classical ballet and encourages them to go for it

Privacy In A Dystopian World
Sydney J. Harris, an American journalist, once said, "the real danger is not that computers will begin
to think like men, but that men will begin to think like computers." This is a common fear among a
society where technology seems to be taking control of everyone's lives. A person's surroundings is
filled with people who go about life focusing on screens, and merely caring about each other.
Everyone is synced to look down, press a button, and repeat. This compares to a dystopian world,
where technology, and those who provide it, oppress the people. In a dystopian world, men are not

The World On The Turtle's Back Myth
"In the beginning, there was no world, no land"(25)... So where did everything people see, hear, and
feel come from? This is a question almost every person has asked himself or herself at some point in
his or her life. There are many different stories about how the world was created, based on people's
varying beliefs and customs. One of these is "The World on the Turtle's Back," which is a creation
myth from the Iroquois tribe. In this story, one can see the four functions of a myth clearly fulfilled.
These four functions are metaphysical, cosmological, sociological, and pedagogical. As one sees the
creation of everything on earth, one can also look a little deeper and see a meaning behind the
events of the story that is meant to guide people, which is what the pedagogical aspect of myths is.

The World Of The Third World
The "Third World" as a political project emerged out of Cold War rhetoric. It referred to a group of
non–aligned countries that claimed to operate separately from the influences of the great powers.
The movement represented the emergence of the Third World as a "self–conscious political
grouping." Solidarity was predicated upon common economic structures that were distinctive from
both the Eastern block planned economies and the Western free market system (Smith, n.d: 17). The
Third World as a political project was intrinsically linked to decolonization. Developing nations
were encouraged to stand against Western intervention and involvement in the economic affairs of
the Third World (Smith, n.d: 17). In addition, the project aimed to establish a new international
economic order in which developing countries would have greater control over their own natural
resources (Smith, n.d: 18). It also called for more cooperation in the third world in order to lessen
their dependence on leading institutional forums. As one of the most influential proponents of the
Third World Project, Jawaharlal Nehru specifically worked to promote ideas of global
interconnectedness, world peace and non–alignment. Yet despite efforts to uplift the Third World
from its peripheral status, evidence of "Western" superiority discourse was still present in the
language used by Nehru and other elites. Furthermore, while elites championed Third World
principles in word, they generally remained tied to their

How Big Is My World
How big is my world? Everyone says that Holland, or Hope College, is a bubble. In someway I can

stepping–stone to find out about the world. I have been lucky enough to been able to live in a safe
world due to my parents, but I have also been given the chance to explore what is out there. Some of
the ways that have given me a chance to understand how big the world is around me are through two
different roommate situations, previous experiences, and thinking big picture. Over the past four
years, I have had many different roommates, who all come with a different backstory. It is through
them that I have been given the chance to realize that my world had been bigger than theirs. My
freshman year roommate was from Michigan, went to a Christian school, and was valedictorian. My
high school experience was the exact opposite, Indiana, public school, and not number 1 in my
class. Our experiences were very different as she excelled in classes like religion and cultural
heritage as her school focused on those, but the science classes we took together I did a lot better.
This helped me see the world from understanding her background as she knew the more

The New World Of Avatar
I agree that New Worlds need to be strikingly visual in order to make an impact because at the end
of the day, any art form or media needs to gain attention and attract viewers. A strikingly visual
setting, when done right can tell many stories. New World media involves a lot of fantasy as it is a
striking, and an innovate way to view one's world in the context of another world. Avatar is one
example of a New World media that is strikingly visual and has had a huge impact in the movie
industry, not only because it grossed over 2 billion dollars worldwide but because of the new age
technology needed to create such a masterpiece and the themes involved in the final product. The
themes highlighting colonization, and it's affect on the natives, or in this case, the Na'vi. all very
similar to the real life aspects, but done in the form of fantasy so it is taking in a place of fiction.
Another example of a strikingly visual form of New World media is photography and Michael
Cook's photography, which incorporates fantasy and reality to bring light to social issues and
various injustices that occurred due to colonization.
James Cameron's Avatar being in 3D was one element that contributed to the stiking visualization of
the movie. 3D visualizations attract viewers because 3D is the natural form of vision for predators.
Stereoscopic 3D vision contributes to a sharper and more insightful trajectory interception, hence
the reason viewers are more drawn to 3D movies than 2D ones.

Art In The Modern World
Mankind has gone through many challenges and hardships to get to where they presently are. As a
result, modern humans are completely different from the first humans that walked on Earth.
However, there has been a couple of things that have prevailed even after all these changes, and one
of them is art. Art has always been present in the history of humankind, from ancient civilizations to
the modern society. But, what makes art so important that it continues on through history?
The book Station Eleven, written by Emily St. John Mandel, explores the importance of art, in
which it narrates the lives of various people that are connected by Arthur, a celebrity who dies in
chapter one, before and twenty years after the Georgian Flu incident. The book depicts that even
though the circumstances in the old and new world are different, people in both worlds have a desire
to pursue the creation of art. The creation and final work of art is essential in human lives because
art provides a way to express one's emotions, art provides satisfaction to both the creator and viewer,
and it immortalizes the subject so that it can be remembered throughout generations. Therefore, as a
result of the outcomes of art, humans will always have a desire to create art in spite of all the
circumstances.
To begin with, art is used to express one's feelings. Miranda, Dr. Eleven's author, was considerably
wealthy, however, regardless of all her wealth, she still needed an outlet to express herself, and that
was her comic, Dr. Eleven. She used art to express her uncomfortableness in her new life. For
example, she wrote that Dr. Eleven thought "we were not meant for this world. I returned to my city,
to my shattered life and damaged home, to my loneliness, and tried to forget the sweetness of life on
Earth" (105). That was how Miranda felt after she figured out that Arthur was having an affair with
Elizabeth. After she married Arthur, she felt that "she'll never belong here no matter how hard she
tries. These are not her people. She is marooned on a strange planet" (92), in the same way, Dr.
Eleven thought that "he wasn't meant for this world". Miranda knew that she would have to go back
to her former life after her divorce with Arthur, and

World Fair Sparknotes
It was Chicago 1893, the construction of the world fair was to be held there in hopes of promoting
how safe the city of Chicago really is. Architects, Daniel Burnham and John Root were given the
control to oversee the creation of the world's fair with hopes of making it spectacular. As described
in the book as H.H.Holmes
¨a young handsome doctor stepped from a train, his surgical valise in hand. He entered a world of
clamor, smoke and steam, refulgent with the scents of murdered cattle and pigs. He found it to his
liking"– P(12)

Eric Larson himself thought of H.H.Holmes as being a murderous psychopath. Holmes and his
fellow builders of the hotel had quite a few things in common, they were both organized,
determined, self driven and saw the bright side of what they were doing. The workers and him both
were quite the con master, along with flattery and bribery, not to mention sometimes even bluntness.
Larson steers towards the tracks in somewhat of a way to relate back to the fact he finds Holmes
actions to be quite,¨horrifying¨. I have come to the conclusion that in our everyday life we are
unaware of the people that go in and out of our lives, That random guy who held the door open for
you at the store could've been a serial killer and you would've never known. We experience serial
killer behavior in our everyday lives were just unaware of it. Another thing to consider furthermore
is the roles of women in men's everyday life back then.Holmes wanted a world where women were
weak and vulnerable, unable to help themselves. Ironically enough that was the thought of how men
mostly viewed women back in that time period. This book proves what the times were like, there
was no denying it men were dominant powers back then. Dr. Holmes used ladies weaknesses to his
advantage, he knew how to play the game. Even though Holmes was like this women still threw
themselves at him

Worldview : The World View Of The World
What is a world view? As the word itself suggests, a worldview is an overall view of the world. It's
not a physical view of the world, but rather a philosophical view, a broad perspective on everything
that exists and matters to us. Like for instance family, friends, school and maybe even church but
everything and anything that we have in our lives. Our worldview shapes us to who we are right
now. There are three worldviews we all have. Optimistic, pessimistic, and Realistic are the three
main worldview people have. Starting with Optimistic people, Optimistic people like to view the
world as everything is positive. People who are optimistic see everything as a wonderful dream land
and tend to ignore all problem's keeping the bad in and acting trying to make everything look okay
when actually they are hurting inside. Overly pessimistic are those who look at the world being
dangerous. Everyone is out for their head and views the world as a rotten place. This makes some
people dangerous and angry at the small things in life. Sad to say that I am kind of one these people.
I not fully pessimistic but I have my days where I hate the world and see my life being useless. Last
but not least is the Realistic viewpoint. Looking at life with a realistic viewpoint, you look around in
their life finding evidence of dangerous before they get comfortable. World views also affect what
people believe and how they live their life on a day to day basis. It has a big part in our life

Promise In Brave New World
Who defines peril and promise? (Add static to conclusion) When a new technology is created there
are two distinct parties who define whether it is full of promise or peril: the creator and those who
are affected by the creation. The definition used by each party varies massively on the technology
that was developed. The creator of a new technology is often the first person to determine whether
or not it will bring peril to society. In almost every case, the technology is constructed with the
intentions of promise, bringing a net benefit to society.

Earth receives an encrypted message from an alien world and in an effort to discover it's meaning,
nations of the world join together.
"The moment the Americans and the Soviets decided to collaborate and the Memorandum of

was a kind of World Message Consortium." (118)
The reception of an alien message could result in any number of reactions from the population of
America, but Sagan chose to have the world work together to overcome this issue. Aliens represent a
threat outside of the human race, something completely external and uninfluenced by the actions of
mankind. This is why the scientific advancement of contact aliens is seen as full of promise for our
society: because the threat is not something we created ourselves, but a threat we are responding to.

Georg Lukacs : The World Of The Integrated Society And Our...
Georg Lukács differentiates between two worlds: the world of the integrated society and our world.
These two worlds are in a way opposites of one another, the Greek world is one where the essence
of everything is both within the soul and outside in the world. In our world this is changed and
essence is something in which we live without. The 'good' is not found within or outside the
individual, there will always be an internal debate about what is truly 'good'. In the Greek world this
'good' is found, not created, and acted upon in a way that is instant, there is no debate. This essential
nature of both the outer world and inner soul that the Greeks lived with is seen in their works of art:
the epics and the tragedies. In the tragedy the "Antigone" the discovered, and uncreated, 'good' is
exemplified by the title character, Antigone. Furthermore, this integrated society is shown in the
actions of Antigone through her discovery and unquestioning action towards the already existent
'good'.
An integrated society is a society in which the external is the internal; the aims of one's life are not
discovered through an internal battle, the aims are there to be made conscious of, there is no internal
battle to be had because everything is laid out for you. The essence in the world is the essence in the
soul, in the person. For the integrated society to be understood is for it to be differentiated between
itself and this world that we now live in. Lukács uses the metaphor of the

A Perfect World Analysis
When it comes to what I describe as a perfect world, I envision a place with no stress, expectations,
or obligations. I imagine a world with the financial freedom to enjoy life without living paycheck to
paycheck. No money, problems, or bad circumstances. While some may agree with me, others may
have their own definitions of what they consider to be a utopia. Perhaps some individuals may like
the fact that we live in a society where we must work hard for the things we want in life, even if that
means practically being a slave to society. I feel that my version of a utopia would result in lowered
stress, happiness, and better ability to enjoy life due to the positivity being implemented into society.
However, since we are not all the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

more funding for mental health programs, in an attempt to help those who are suffering from

which is clean and holy. "I'm a big big girl. In a big big world. It's not a big big thing if you leave

Relationships In Brave New World
Our society is leaning closer towards the way personal relationships are portrayed in Brave New
World every day. With the behaviors children displayed and what they once did in their free time, is
a completely different process than a long time ago. The way adults pursue their dating lives is no
longer conservative as it once was, but promiscuous. And, the lack of sympathy our world has as a
whole is lessoning every day. All of these things give example to what The Brave New World
experienced in their transition to becoming The Brave New World; and if we are not careful, we are
headed in that direction. Children today are much more exposed to adulthood, forcing them to grow
up quicker. We now put our children in positions where they must take care of themselves. In today's
society, many families struggle with divorce. This leads to parents fighting, dating other people, and
moving around a lot to different homes. This is exposing children to things that taint their views on
adulthood, leading to them trying to change it during childhood, losing their own in the process.

While the book has one over–arching thesis, "inform the reader about the changing face of
globalization" (12) each section has a thesis which helps to direct the thoughts of the readers and
writers in a particular section. The authors are not attempting to argue for one particular aspect of
world missions but rather they are attempting to provide an overview of the issues which are taking
place in world missions.
The first section deals with the issue of missions within a larger global context. The authors explain
their purpose is to, "describe major trends in the world to which we minister" (14). The text deals
with globalization, changing demographics, the movement of world religions and the world's shift
from modernity to post modernity. The authors argue for an emphasis on globalization stressing that
globalization changes the context in which we minister. "Globalization matters because it
fundamentally changes the contexts in which we minister; the way people and cultures perceive
each other; how people think and the means available to reach them" (24). Globalization has
affected the way Christians view the world and also how Christians share the Gospel. The authors
identify the changing demographics and engage the reasons why individuals are moving away from
their country of birth. The authors provide detailed description of the issues facing migration as well

World Hunger In America
The world is not caring about the more important things in life such as being thankful for what they

great to have in order to be successful but in the shadows are the ones who don't have the
opportunity to have those things and not having these things lead to those who end being homeless,
hungry, or resort to violence. I'm here to talk about the big thing that is constantly on TV but isn't

The Causes Of World Hunger In The World
Tommy Luong Dave King English 150 20 September 2017 Without Food Death Is All I Have Left
To Eat The day usually starts with breakfast but there is no food to be seen or be eaten, so all that is
left to do is starve and wait until your next opportunity to eat happens. This is a reality for those
around the world as some people are unable to get food for themselves or for their families. This is
contributed by the world's population being around 7 billion people and still growing to a higher
population. This high population and its rapid growth rate of about 80 million births per year can
lead to potential food shortages in different places in the world that makes world hunger becoming a
major social problem that can lead to disease and countries dying because of starvation. Some would
say that helping world hunger is a waste of developed nations resources. However that is something
I disagree with because a lot of the world production of goods come from undeveloped countries. In
order to reduce the problem they're should be a way to limit the population growth in countries in
the world that are highly populated besides China's one child law already in place or have a way to
better sustain the world's growing population. The causes of world hunger in the world is due to the
increase in population in very developed countries allowing a longer life span causing the world
population to increase more quickly because there would be a higher consumption of food and it

this poem has no rhyme scheme, Walker did not use any meters and she uses simple words just as

are treated unfairly which reflect one of the ideas of the poem. she writes " In us this is wisdom of
how to shares loaves and fishes..." (line 22–23) here, she promotes equal power between gender and
class. Next, as I read through the poem, Walker also concerned about social class, she believes that

Billy Elliot Into the World Essay
Billy Elliot Into the World
There are a variety of pathways and elements, which enables individual transition into a New World.
'Into the World' is about people choosing the next pathway into their life by their own determination,
experiences and support which enables them to go beyond their original location and narrow view of
the world. 'Billy Elliot' relates to the elective 'Into the World' as the film is about new possibilities
opening up, determination, family support and individual growth. Two related texts that show other
kinds of transitions into new worlds include an article on the Queensland School of Excellence titled

The use of doors is a reoccuring symbol representing new worlds or barriers between worlds and
used throughout the film. Billy's initial glimpse of the ballet class through the door, and the way he
enters the class hesitantly symbolises a new world opening up to Billy. Billy's determination is one
the key elements involved in his eventual transition into a different world. Realising that his father
would not allow him to pursue ballet, he attends lessons in secret and practices extensively in his
bedroom, the bathroom and wherever else he can have some privacy. The door motif is again
prominent with Billy's father physically holding Billy back from pursing his pathway into a new
world. Many of the doors are shut and he must fight to break these barriers down. For Billy, dance
becomes a means of escape from his surroundings, a refuge, a form of self–expression and,
ultimately, a way out of his closed community and into the larger world. The limited use of colour
reminds us that the family world is collapsing just as new horizons are opening up for Billy. Billy is
determined to go against the rules and traditions of his family and forge his way into a new world.
Determination is also used through persuasive and emotional language in the article 'Pas de deux'.
The Queensland Dance School of Excellence is an education program offered in partnership with
Ballet. It provides the opportunities for talented dance students to continue their dance training in

An Island Is Its Own World
An island is its own world. It is isolated from the world, surrounded by nothing but oceans. I lived
on such an island, isolated from the rest of the world. It was wonderful there and I was happy with
the way things were. Then everything changed when my family and I left our small island to a
whole new world. Everything was perfect the way they were. I was born in Guam, a small US
territory in the South Pacific. I was eight and happy with everything. The weather was always hot
and humid with the occasional rain or typhoon, but I didn't mind. My neighbors were wonderful,
especially Mrs. Auguns. She would always give gifts to me and my family and we would do the
same. I had childhood friends whom I spent a lot of time with and our families were close. I went to
a private Christian school which provided a good education and great lunches. On Sundays, we
would go to church and everyone there was so nice and caring. Sometimes, there would be fiestas
after church, which were fun. Everything was fine the way it was, until my dad got a new job. I had
to leave my world behind and embark to a new one. My dad got a job in Arizona and decided, with
my mom, to bring the family over. I was very sad and upset. We packed our things and took a flight
to Arizona in January, 2008. I left behind my whole world with those I cared about. I only possessed
a few things that reminded me of home. I had a small Guam flag, a few photos, and a couple hand–

The World Of Our World

  • 1. The World Of Our World We are told from birth that all seven of us are like islands. We have no connection and no communication. Each of our islands has the SC, Superior Class, the TC, Traditional Class and the GC or Ground Class. "The only thing you ever need to know is the information that SC has." We are told to spread that information and only that information, and if we do not, we are warned that punishment will come. Our world revolves around our internet, and SC is all knowing. So they give us all the information we will ever get and ever need through the internet. Everyone in TC does the same thing everyday. There is no change and no excitement in our lives beside the news that we receive in the morning from SC. I slipped out of bed in my all white silky night gown, and I treked slowly to my front door. No one ever knocks, and there is no doorbell, but every morning there was something. Some days it was a new computer; other days it was a notifier, a small screen that plays a message through the internet after it does a facial and retinal scan. That day I had gotten a drive. The drive was probably the most low tech and oldest way of giving information that we still had. It was a small chip, about the length and width of your pinky nail. It had a small speaker and microphone in it that would give you some basic instructions and make you go through a short security check. I grabbed the drive off of my doorstep. The drive had projected loudly as soon as I had picked it up, "Please speak: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Events That Caused The World To Change The view of the world is continually changing. Different events have happened throughout history that have caused the view of the world to change. New discoveries were made along with explorations. Also, new ideas were brought to the public, and absolutism rose. Through new discoveries and exploration, the enlightenment, and absolutism, the view of the world has changed. Initially, new discoveries of the world came about through exploration. Europeans were motivated by gold, God, and glory to begin exploring the world. They were seeking to find riches, new converts to Christianity, and personal fame. The Spanish explorers were looking for an all–sea trade route and ended up discovering precious metals which boosted their financial gain. Exploration had a huge impact on the view of the world. New crops such as potatoes, rice, maize, and tobacco were discovered. Inflation occurred along with the expansion of the middle class. New economic and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The enlightenment was an intellectual movement throughout the 17th and 18th centuries involving the natural and social sciences. Four ideas that emerged from the enlightenment were reason, liberty, happiness, and progress. During this movement all areas of scientific thought were challenged. The view of astronomy changed after Copernicus came up with the Heliocentric Theory (the sun was the center of the universe). Before this theory, everyone believed the earth was the center. Also, the law of gravity and three laws of motions were brought about by Newton. The enlightenment thinkers believed in human perfection and human reason. They distrusted monarchy institutions and the church. The criticized religious customs and disliked tradition. The enlightenment had a big impact on the view of the British and French development. It is one of the influences in the French and American revolutions. The enlightenment definitely impacted the view of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Disney World Caption Social Media has a long–lasting effect on our society today. Many people base their perception of someone off their social media pages (i.e. how many likes they receive, how often they post, or their captions). I chose to analyze the picture above due to the uplifting sense it gives off. As you lay eyes on this picture, most people can immediately tell where it was taken, Disney World. Disney World is often referred to as "The happiest place on earth", and portrayed as an attraction where people of any age can have a great time. As you can see in this picture, my friend Dante and I are exceedingly happy. We're not smiling like most people would in a picture, but we're throwing up peace signs in front of the Magic Kingdom which is Disney World's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They typically convey what you're trying to get across by sharing the picture with your family and friends. The caption I placed under this picture conveys that it is almost impossible not to be happy in Disney World. It shows that I truly enjoyed my time here and I was extremely delighted with my experience. At the end of my caption I placed two emoji's, a star and a crown. I placed these emoji's there to emphasize the feeling of magic that I experienced in Disney World. I enjoy including emoji's at the end of my captions because I believe it adds to the glamour and fun of your Instagram profile. In addition to the emoji's, I included a hashtag "towerofterrordidntphaseme", which is placed there to emanate a sarcastic feeling. Tower of terror is typically classified as one of the scarier rides at Disney World, as a result many would interpret this hashtag as a joke and assume that tower of terror tormented me, in which it did. I also included a hashtag "europetodisney", which implies Dante and I traveled to Europe together prior to Disney World, showing that we are close friends who enjoy traveling together. • 13. Stereotypes Are In Today's World I would have to say one thing that really pisses me off is how judgmental people are in todays world and how it creates so many different social classes . Not all, but some people like to act like they are psychics. They think they can tell who you are and what kind person you are ,what kind person you have been, and, what kind of person you're going to be just by passing you in the hallway. They can tell all this without even saying a single word to you. For example I was held back in the eighth grade because I failed my math class with flying colors so my parents thought it best that I hopefully mature and grow up a little before I got to high school. In doing, I left my comfort zone I had been with my class since I started their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Empathy: The Oppurtunity Of The World As a whole, we do not acknowlage what goes on in people's lives other than our own. Most people are selfish in everything they do, and it seems we will step on who ever or what ever it takes to get to the top. The world is becoming a place where you are only important if you are the richest or the person in charge only to make ourselves better, not taking any time to stop and try to help others become better and more successful.Another thing we dont think about is that when we only focus on ourselves, we are taking all of the avaliable oppurtunities that we may not need (just want) from someone else who might have put the same oppurtunity to better use. Empathy is the understanding you have either from being in the same situation as others, or being able to put yourself in their shoes, seeing the world from their prespective. It's not until we can step into someone elses shoes or realize the problem first hand that we can open our eyes and see how the world is being impacted, not just "your world". ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... all we thought about was what we lost, not what we gained. This is the mentality of the world now, empathy is present, but all of our empathy is focused on ourselves. When we see our lives, we tend to see the worst, or what we dont have and focus on everyone else. When people deal with loss, they will feel empathy, it's just a matter of how they deal with it. Some people will become depressed and the economy will become run down and people start playing the "poor me" and "it's not fair" cards. In some instances though, people will fight back and stand up for what they believe is rightfully theirs; and this is what ends up starting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Technology In Brave New World Brave New World Essay We live in a world where people are becoming increasingly more reliant on technology. We've make digital watches so we don't have to take an extra 15 seconds to count the hands on a watch. We've made escalators so we can stand still while we go up the next level instead of walking. We have become obsessed with the idea of using technology to save us from actually having to do things that take a little extra time or require some actual thought. Postman's suggestion that our world today is becoming more like Brave New World is correct because people have become more and more lazy and driven by easy pleasure. Younger generations are now being raised in front of a tv or an iPad instead of going outside and playing. They don't look up from their phones to see what is going on in the world around them. Even with my generation today people can't tell you what is going on in the world around them but they are so concerned with the social media. We have lost our interest in actual real life problems and have become addicted to phones. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this would be the young teenagers who read about slender man so much that they began to believe he was real and killed their best friend in his honor. When adosdence are still trying to figure out who they are and what they believe in, they are very vulnerable to believing anything they hear from outside sources. With people always uploading such strong opinions on the internet it is easy for kids to believe these things and be influenced by what they read. The children in Brave New World heard certain ideas repeated so many times that it becomes their reality. It is the same way for kids who see the same thing on the internet everyday. We need to keep young children off the internet long enough for them to be able to think about issues for themselves and make their own opinions on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Metaphors And The Natural World Whether we know it or not, we make use of metaphors daily in many ways to help us make sense of the world. A metaphor is defined as a figure of speech that identifies an object or an idea that is similar to an unrelated thing. The use of metaphors and the language that they portray help to create new insight into the universe. They not only help classify the natural world, and help interpret the scientific world, but they also set outlooks on individuals culture and society; however, some may argue that metaphors are an impractical use of our language that only complicate things that can instead be stated clearer. Our perspectives and the way we think are directly linked to how we talk and communicate in in the natural world and how we are viwed by society. This is explained further in detailed in Metaphors We Live By, because it clearly shows how individuals shape their perspectives based on their experiences in society: "In most of the little things we do every day, we simply think and act more or less automatically along certain lines," (Lackoff & Johnson 3). This furthers proves how much metaphors can affect the way we think and the way we see the world from what we undergo and experience in our life––it is what gives us an opinion on certain matters of race, gender, religion, etc. We all think and act according to how we interact with our society and it is the power of metaphors that help guide and change one's beliefs to help portray our own perspective for others. ... Credible World Study To study the world, professionals of many fields, including science, use simplified models of the world so they can examine how the relation(s) found in the model may take place the real world. Some economists, according to Sugden, prefer to use economic models as a sort of theoretical study which may or may not have any connection to the real world. However, in his paper, Sugden argues that economic models can tell us something about the real world, and in doing so presents two models which he claims attempt to explain something in our world. This paper will examine what the term credible world means by focusing on Schelling's checkerboard model of racial sorting. I will then argue that Sugden's credible worlds model is not useful. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let's say you agree with the idea that mild preferences lead to a sharp segregation in communities. This does not really tell us anything more than we could have already obtained from looking at natural models. There is nothing in the model that lends any sort of credibility to the causal connection Schelling is asserting that he could not obtain through observations of the real world. His model may be true, in the sense that it describes a process seen in the world, but we are left without any direction of where to go next. There is not tests or observations that could be done which could show that the model is wrong. Perhaps you could make a new model based on other factors that are present in the real–world, that would cause the effect we see in the real–world. • 33. The Old World And New World When the Old World and New World collided, different countries from the Old World reacted differently. The French reacted positively with the Native Americans and became allies with them. The English tried to steal the natives land, disregarding that the natives were there first. The Spanish pursued to conquer Southern America, in hope to discover gold. All three countries came in search for different things but all came in contact with the Natives. When Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer, was sent over by Spain to find a passage to the eastern side of Asia in 1492, he unintentionally discovered the Americas, first founded by its native inhabitants. He interacted with the Natives, whom he believed were the Indians. The first Natives Columbus encountered was the Tainos. Spain's main goal of finding the New World was to find gold, so when the Tainos were wearing gold jewelry, the Spaniards figured they were on the right track for finding a place to dig for gold. Later they discovered the Tainos only obtained only a small amount of gold. Columbus then took some Tainos back with him in hope to enslave the new people. The monarch denied the request for enslavement, but in 1520, only thirty eight years after Columbus founded the New World, all the Tainos were extinct due to the disease he brought. Spain, still with the hope of finding gold, wanted to conquer the rest of the New World. He brought over horses and cows which were important because the only beast of burden the ... World Cafe Method: Essay Explanation of the method (around 500–600) According to the information from The World Café (2008), the process of Café conversation starts at small café–style tables with four to five people each. Individuals will switch to another table on each round of conversation which takes approximately 20–30 minutes. After completing the first round of conversation, one person will remain at the table and become the "host" for the explanation of the main ideas, themes and questions from the previous conversations. Passive people well in observing that helps others discover the deeper patterns of situation. • 45. The Old World : The Discovery Of The New World In all of history, there have been few situations that could affect a majority of the world at once. Through a series of events, one of these situations may be the discovery of the New World. This so– called discovery of the Americas had enriching effects for Europe, and catastrophic results for Indigenous Americans. While those from the Old World acquired wealth and curiosity, those in the New World were being conquered and forced into submission while dying of disease and losing crops. Those who prospered only reigned by stepping on the heads of the unknowing. Europeans, from the Old World, were intrigued by these new continents. They could never have expected entire new landmasses, and these feelings were even more so for the ones who landed there. While these ship landers originally thought they had reached the Indies and Asia (see: the journal of Christopher Columbus), it soon became clear that the land had never been seen before by exploring eyes. Many who were on the ships wrote about the native people they saw, and how radically different they were. From eating on the ground to wearing nothing at all (as stated in Amerigo Vespucci's accounts), these people made Europeans interested. So, more explorers came to see if these rumors were true. They would soon find that they were, and news of these true messages would soon become the fascination of the continent. • 49. The Old World : Columbus And The New World ""Pre–Columbian" refers to the period before Columbus landed in the New World", Carol Strickland wrote in the book The Annotated Mona Lisa (20). Five hundred and twenty–five years ago, Christopher Columbus decided to travel by three ships to discover new countries in the western hemisphere. Columbus and a hundred other men sought out to find a new route for trading and also to discover Asia. One of his main goals during this travel was to find civilization somewhere other than where he was, the Old World. On the way of attempting to find these places, Christopher Columbus bumped into what he refers to as the New World. If it wasn't for finding the New World, the people who were on the ships would have never made it to China alive. There were limited resources on the boat, that would not last throughout the whole trip. When reaching the New World, he discovered there were people living within the society in villages. I believe the New World has given the Old World new opportunities for livestock and animals. This was the start of making the Old World a better place. Christopher Columbus and a hundred men discovered the New World on accident. Even though it was accidental, the crew found the New World and it opened many doors for people living within the Old World. With the New World, the Old World had changed dramatically. It changed because food like tomatoes, potatoes, chocolate, tobacco, corn, and horses were all shipped to the Old World. The people Columbus found living ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And my unease, coupled with a perfect petual quest for perfect made my life much harder than it needed to be" (Copeland 18). Her name is Misty Copeland. A world changer is someone who uses the power they receive when accomplishing their goals to positively impact the world. They do this with strength and courage. Being the first African American Principal dancer at American Ballet Theatre is a big deal. Principal is the highest rank one can become at a major dance company, and rarely does anyone ever make it up there. A big supporter of changing the ballet world, Misty hopes that she is "creating access for dancers of varying racial and economic backgrounds". Not only does she just want to change the dance world racially and economically, Misty wants to break away from the stereotypical ballet dancer– that of a Russian ballerina type, a skinny, tall woman. Standing at 5'2 and very muscular, Misty had and still has trouble finding leotards that would fit her type of body. She hopes to create dance clothing for "fuller figured dancers and athletes" (Woods). She has joined American Ballet Theatre's Project Plie Program, a program that helps mentor dance teachers in "racially diverse communities" ("Misty Copeland"). Boys & Girls Club, Ballet Austin, Cincinnati Ballet, and Orlando Ballet partnered with American Ballet Theatre in this project (Collins). Dance studios who could never afford master classes which would give their dancers the opportunity to learn from other teachers were able to achieve that because of Misty Copeland. She would go to their studios and teach the dancers (Stahl). Dancing was not the only way she used her power to positively impact the world. Misty travels to public schools to inspire young children ("Misty Copeland") and she talks to young African Americans that wanted to do classical ballet and encourages them to go for it (Woods). Harris, an American journalist, once said, "the real danger is not that computers will begin to think like men, but that men will begin to think like computers." This is a common fear among a society where technology seems to be taking control of everyone's lives. A person's surroundings is filled with people who go about life focusing on screens, and merely caring about each other. Everyone is synced to look down, press a button, and repeat. This compares to a dystopian world, where technology, and those who provide it, oppress the people. In a dystopian world, men are not allowed to think for themselves, and only follow a group. This is a question almost every person has asked himself or herself at some point in his or her life. There are many different stories about how the world was created, based on people's varying beliefs and customs. One of these is "The World on the Turtle's Back," which is a creation myth from the Iroquois tribe. In this story, one can see the four functions of a myth clearly fulfilled. These four functions are metaphysical, cosmological, sociological, and pedagogical. As one sees the creation of everything on earth, one can also look a little deeper and see a meaning behind the events of the story that is meant to guide people, which is what the pedagogical aspect of myths is. • 73. The World Of The Third World The "Third World" as a political project emerged out of Cold War rhetoric. It referred to a group of non–aligned countries that claimed to operate separately from the influences of the great powers. The movement represented the emergence of the Third World as a "self–conscious political grouping." Solidarity was predicated upon common economic structures that were distinctive from both the Eastern block planned economies and the Western free market system (Smith, n.d: 17). The Third World as a political project was intrinsically linked to decolonization. Developing nations were encouraged to stand against Western intervention and involvement in the economic affairs of the Third World (Smith, n.d: 17). In addition, the project aimed to establish a new international economic order in which developing countries would have greater control over their own natural resources (Smith, n.d: 18). It also called for more cooperation in the third world in order to lessen their dependence on leading institutional forums. As one of the most influential proponents of the Third World Project, Jawaharlal Nehru specifically worked to promote ideas of global interconnectedness, world peace and non–alignment. Yet despite efforts to uplift the Third World from its peripheral status, evidence of "Western" superiority discourse was still present in the language used by Nehru and other elites. I have been lucky enough to been able to live in a safe world due to my parents, but I have also been given the chance to explore what is out there. • 81. The New World Of Avatar I agree that New Worlds need to be strikingly visual in order to make an impact because at the end of the day, any art form or media needs to gain attention and attract viewers. A strikingly visual setting, when done right can tell many stories. New World media involves a lot of fantasy as it is a striking, and an innovate way to view one's world in the context of another world. Avatar is one example of a New World media that is strikingly visual and has had a huge impact in the movie industry, not only because it grossed over 2 billion dollars worldwide but because of the new age technology needed to create such a masterpiece and the themes involved in the final product. The themes highlighting colonization, and it's affect on the natives, or in this case, the Na'vi. all very similar to the real life aspects, but done in the form of fantasy so it is taking in a place of fiction. Another example of a strikingly visual form of New World media is photography and Michael Cook's photography, which incorporates fantasy and reality to bring light to social issues and various injustices that occurred due to colonization. James Cameron's Avatar being in 3D was one element that contributed to the stiking visualization of the movie. 3D visualizations attract viewers because 3D is the natural form of vision for predators. Stereoscopic 3D vision contributes to a sharper and more insightful trajectory interception, hence the reason viewers are more drawn to 3D movies than 2D ones. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 85. Art In The Modern World Mankind has gone through many challenges and hardships to get to where they presently are. As a result, modern humans are completely different from the first humans that walked on Earth. However, there has been a couple of things that have prevailed even after all these changes, and one of them is art. Art has always been present in the history of humankind, from ancient civilizations to the modern society. But, what makes art so important that it continues on through history? The book Station Eleven, written by Emily St. John Mandel, explores the importance of art, in which it narrates the lives of various people that are connected by Arthur, a celebrity who dies in chapter one, before and twenty years after the Georgian Flu incident. The book depicts that even though the circumstances in the old and new world are different, people in both worlds have a desire to pursue the creation of art. The creation and final work of art is essential in human lives because art provides a way to express one's emotions, art provides satisfaction to both the creator and viewer, and it immortalizes the subject so that it can be remembered throughout generations. Therefore, as a result of the outcomes of art, humans will always have a desire to create art in spite of all the circumstances. To begin with, art is used to express one's feelings. Miranda, Dr. Eleven's author, was considerably wealthy, however, regardless of all her wealth, she still needed an outlet to express herself, and that was her comic, Dr. Eleven. She used art to express her uncomfortableness in her new life. For example, she wrote that Dr. Eleven thought "we were not meant for this world. I returned to my city, to my shattered life and damaged home, to my loneliness, and tried to forget the sweetness of life on Earth" (105). That was how Miranda felt after she figured out that Arthur was having an affair with Elizabeth. After she married Arthur, she felt that "she'll never belong here no matter how hard she tries. These are not her people. She is marooned on a strange planet" (92), in the same way, Dr. Eleven thought that "he wasn't meant for this world". • 93. Worldview : The World View Of The World What is a world view? As the word itself suggests, a worldview is an overall view of the world. It's not a physical view of the world, but rather a philosophical view, a broad perspective on everything that exists and matters to us. Like for instance family, friends, school and maybe even church but everything and anything that we have in our lives. Our worldview shapes us to who we are right now. There are three worldviews we all have. Optimistic, pessimistic, and Realistic are the three main worldview people have. Starting with Optimistic people, Optimistic people like to view the world as everything is positive. People who are optimistic see everything as a wonderful dream land and tend to ignore all problem's keeping the bad in and acting trying to make everything look okay when actually they are hurting inside. Overly pessimistic are those who look at the world being dangerous. Everyone is out for their head and views the world as a rotten place. This makes some people dangerous and angry at the small things in life. Sad to say that I am kind of one these people. I not fully pessimistic but I have my days where I hate the world and see my life being useless. Last but not least is the Realistic viewpoint. • 105. Georg Lukacs : The World Of The Integrated Society And Our... Georg Lukács differentiates between two worlds: the world of the integrated society and our world. These two worlds are in a way opposites of one another, the Greek world is one where the essence of everything is both within the soul and outside in the world. In our world this is changed and essence is something in which we live without. The 'good' is not found within or outside the individual, there will always be an internal debate about what is truly 'good'. In the Greek world this 'good' is found, not created, and acted upon in a way that is instant, there is no debate. This essential nature of both the outer world and inner soul that the Greeks lived with is seen in their works of art: the epics and the tragedies. In the tragedy the "Antigone" the discovered, and uncreated, 'good' is exemplified by the title character, Antigone. Furthermore, this integrated society is shown in the actions of Antigone through her discovery and unquestioning action towards the already existent 'good'. An integrated society is a society in which the external is the internal; the aims of one's life are not discovered through an internal battle, the aims are there to be made conscious of, there is no internal battle to be had because everything is laid out for you. The essence in the world is the essence in the soul, in the person. For the integrated society to be understood is for it to be differentiated between itself and this world that we now live in. This shapes the way of dating today. Adultery, sneaking around, promiscuity; these are all normal day guidelines we live by. In Brave New World, "Everyone belongs to everyone" (Huxley). They believe no two people should stay together for a prolonged amount of time. If the adults now continue to date as rapidly as they do, the next generation will be like the Brave New World. While the book has one over–arching thesis, "inform the reader about the changing face of globalization" (12) each section has a thesis which helps to direct the thoughts of the readers and writers in a particular section. The authors are not attempting to argue for one particular aspect of world missions but rather they are attempting to provide an overview of the issues which are taking place in world missions. The first section deals with the issue of missions within a larger global context. The authors explain their purpose is to, "describe major trends in the world to which we minister" (14). The text deals with globalization, changing demographics, the movement of world religions and the world's shift from modernity to post modernity. The authors argue for an emphasis on globalization stressing that globalization changes the context in which we minister. "Globalization matters because it fundamentally changes the contexts in which we minister; the way people and cultures perceive each other; how people think and the means available to reach them" (24). Globalization has affected the way Christians view the world and also how Christians share the Gospel. The authors identify the changing demographics and engage the reasons why individuals are moving away from their country of birth. The authors provide detailed description of the issues facing migration as well as evaluations and ways for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 133. World Hunger In America The world is not caring about the more important things in life such as being thankful for what they have and where they live, having great support systems, and being educated. All these things are great to have in order to be successful but in the shadows are the ones who don't have the opportunity to have those things and not having these things lead to those who end being homeless, hungry, or resort to violence. I'm here to talk about the big thing that is constantly on TV but isn't being taken into action and that thing is world hunger. World hunger is one of the main problems in America and even all around the world. I was watching TV and I noticed the BET awards was on and there were all these rich celebrities who have all this money ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Or even learn anything to go anywhere in life so they end up with nowhere to work which means no food, which means another family doesn't have anything to eat while other places in the world waste food or have the money to help but they are just too stuck in their own world to help the next person and help benefit them overall. Also having an education just doesn't help put food in your house and on the table, it helps you get further and further in life then your kids will have something to look up too and to be proud of and be able to say we didn't have much but my mom or dad still made a way for us to have a good life. Those words are so inspiring that just hearing those words from someone miles or even countries away will make them want to change their habits just to do well. And even make them inspire others then we won't have world hunger especially if those with money help out to the world overall will be much better because money does make a difference in anyone's life. Then are charities that donate to countries that deal with world hunger but you have to do your research because some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 137. The Causes Of World Hunger In The World Tommy Luong Dave King English 150 20 September 2017 Without Food Death Is All I Have Left To Eat The day usually starts with breakfast but there is no food to be seen or be eaten, so all that is left to do is starve and wait until your next opportunity to eat happens. This is a reality for those around the world as some people are unable to get food for themselves or for their families. This is contributed by the world's population being around 7 billion people and still growing to a higher population. This high population and its rapid growth rate of about 80 million births per year can lead to potential food shortages in different places in the world that makes world hunger becoming a major social problem that can lead to disease and countries dying because of starvation. Some would say that helping world hunger is a waste of developed nations resources. However that is something I disagree with because a lot of the world production of goods come from undeveloped countries. In order to reduce the problem they're should be a way to limit the population growth in countries in the world that are highly populated besides China's one child law already in place or have a way to better sustain the world's growing population. The causes of world hunger in the world is due to the increase in population in very developed countries allowing a longer life span causing the world population to increase more quickly because there would be a higher consumption of food and it would ... • 141. Change The World Enough Literary Analysis As I read Alice Walker's poem "To Change the World Enough", I found out that this poem has no rhyme scheme, Walker did not use any meters and she uses simple words just as the poem "Expect Nothing". The mood of the poem is dark and angry. Walker feels like poor people are treated unfairly which reflect one of the ideas of the poem. she writes " In us this is wisdom of how to shares loaves and fishes..." (line 22–23) here, she promotes equal power between gender and class. Next, as I read through the poem, Walker also concerned about social class, she believes that end of war is near, and it's time for the poor and rich to work together. She writes " The poor always believe there is room enough for all of us; the very rich ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 145. Billy Elliot Into the World Essay Billy Elliot Into the World There are a variety of pathways and elements, which enables individual transition into a New World. 'Into the World' is about people choosing the next pathway into their life by their own determination, experiences and support which enables them to go beyond their original location and narrow view of the world. 'Billy Elliot' relates to the elective 'Into the World' as the film is about new possibilities opening up, determination, family support and individual growth. Two related texts that show other kinds of transitions into new worlds include an article on the Queensland School of Excellence titled 'Pas de deux' from the 'Australian Educator' on the 03/05/04 and a documentary by a Youth Program called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of doors is a reoccuring symbol representing new worlds or barriers between worlds and used throughout the film. Billy's initial glimpse of the ballet class through the door, and the way he enters the class hesitantly symbolises a new world opening up to Billy. Billy's determination is one the key elements involved in his eventual transition into a different world. Realising that his father would not allow him to pursue ballet, he attends lessons in secret and practices extensively in his bedroom, the bathroom and wherever else he can have some privacy. The door motif is again prominent with Billy's father physically holding Billy back from pursing his pathway into a new world. Many of the doors are shut and he must fight to break these barriers down. For Billy, dance becomes a means of escape from his surroundings, a refuge, a form of self–expression and, ultimately, a way out of his closed community and into the larger world. The limited use of colour reminds us that the family world is collapsing just as new horizons are opening up for Billy. Billy is determined to go against the rules and traditions of his family and forge his way into a new world. Determination is also used through persuasive and emotional language in the article 'Pas de deux'. The Queensland Dance School of Excellence is an education program offered in partnership with Ballet. It provides the opportunities for talented dance students to continue their dance training in the upper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 153. An Island Is Its Own World An island is its own world. It is isolated from the world, surrounded by nothing but oceans. I lived on such an island, isolated from the rest of the world. It was wonderful there and I was happy with the way things were. Then everything changed when my family and I left our small island to a whole new world. Everything was perfect the way they were. I was born in Guam, a small US territory in the South Pacific. I was eight and happy with everything. The weather was always hot and humid with the occasional rain or typhoon, but I didn't mind. My neighbors were wonderful, especially Mrs. Auguns. She would always give gifts to me and my family and we would do the same. I had childhood friends whom I spent a lot of time with and our families were close. I went to a private Christian school which provided a good education and great lunches. On Sundays, we would go to church and everyone there was so nice and caring. Sometimes, there would be fiestas after church, which were fun. Everything was fine the way it was, until my dad got a new job. I had to leave my world behind and embark to a new one. My dad got a job in Arizona and decided, with my mom, to bring the family over. I was very sad and upset. We packed our things and took a flight to Arizona in January, 2008. I left behind my whole world with those I cared about. I only possessed a few things that reminded me of home. I had a small Guam flag, a few photos, and a couple hand– crafted necklaces made from seashells. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
