Classification Of Drive Essay
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MOTORS AND DRIVES:
In this segment, I will briefly review the diverse types of variable–speed drives used in the industry. For the most part, electronic AC and DC drives
find their domination in manufacturing and commercial HVAC uses of today. This brief look at drive machineries will assist you, should you
encounter any of these types in the future. In addition, I will also review the benefits and limits of each type. The types of drives I will consider are
mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/electronic (eddy–current coupling, and rotating DC).
MECHANICAL VARIABLE SPEED MOTOR DRIVE
SYSTEM:
As seen in Figure 1–7, the mechanical drive operates on the standard of variable–pitch pulleys. The pulleys are typically ... Show more content on

Size can also be a restriction. Typically, floor–mounted, this device sometimes stood 3–5 feet tall for general applications. Size and weight could
prohibit the use of this device in areas that would be required for mounting a drive.
HYDRAULIC MOTOR DRIVES SYSTEM:
Hydraulic drives have been, and continue to be, the rock of many metals processing and manufacturing functions. The hydraulic motor's small size
makes it ideal for situations where high power is needed in very tight locations. In fact, the hydraulic motor's size is 1/4–1/3 the size of an equal power
electric motor.
Figure 1–8 indicates a hydraulic drive. In Figure 1–8, a constant– speed AC motor operates a hydraulic pump. The pump builds up the necessary
operating pressure in the system to allow the hydraulic motor to develop its rated power. The speed control comes from the control valve. This valve

that this system uses a coupler to connect the AC motor to the pump. The benefits of this type of drive system is the ability of the hydraulic motor to
develop high torque (twisting motion of the shaft). In addition, it has a justly simple control structure (a valve), which operates at a wide speed range

Design Optimization Of Worm Gear Drive
Conventional tipper mechanism an unload materials only at the backside of the tipper using hydraulically operated cylinder which may cause the
problems of road blockage in the limited space area. The revolving hydraulic trailor overcomes the problem of unloading the vehicle on side way by
using hydraulic cylinder. By using cylinder the material can be unloaded in 180 degree as per requirement. The revolving hydraulic trailor is
developed and tested for its movement in all 180 degree possible angle to unload the materials in the tipper trolley and monitor the inclinations for its
gradualism (linearity).
Key words: Design Optimization of WormGear drive, Hydraulic Cylinder, Worm & Worm Gear
Introduction
Material handling in construction and civil works is one of the basic necessities. The material supply to civil and construction is provided through
trucks, tractor, dumper etc. The material should be properly loaded, managed, stacked, transported and unloaded. The trailor carries the material which
is loaded from the site, where the material is initially stored. It is then loaded to the trailor and transported to the required site and then unloaded. The
major issues raises over here, the incompatibility of the site with the fully loaded trailor causes a lot of settling time for the trolley to get the material
properly arranged and transportation time to reach its location. The trailor unloads the material in

Personal Narrative: My Home, Plymouth, Wisconsin
My home, Plymouth, Wisconsin, is a typical midwestern town located about 15 miles west of Lake Michigan and 45 minutes north of Milwaukee.
With a miniscule population of about 8,400 people, it radiates peace and humility. An accurate description to capture the essence of my place include
the words small, farms, corn, cows, cheese, hills, calm, and friendly. Plymouth is home to numerous large cheese production and packaging companies,
which I suppose is a fitting role for a town belonging to "the cheesehead state". Main Street, the most popular and crowded area in the community is
lined with two–story brick buildings constructed almost 200 years ago. There, many small businesses can be found such as a trophy shop, breakfast
diner, and hair salon. You can almost always find a friendly face there to brighten your day as most residents are caring and helpful people. At the
beginning of the main road lies a giant hill that's home to a Catholic church. At night, you can stand at the top of... Show more content on

Plymouth thrives on. The Mullet River, known for being somewhat musky, weaves its way from one side of town to the other. Although it isn't the
cleanest water, it sparkles in the light of the sweltering sun, providing ideal fishing locations for children and adults as well. Along the outskirts of
town, farm animals playing an important role in the agribusiness, including cattle and chicken wander the rugged hills. The back country roads,

Hard Drive Dq
Firstly, with a hard drive, much information can be stored and kept safe, including maps, videos, photos, and statistics to show and explain the past.
Like ancient Greek manuscripts, the hard drive would be the most important part of the time capsule. The files stored in the capsule would not take
too long to gather, but a long time to read. The files contained in the storage unit would include global warming statistics, stocks of that past couple
years, census statistics, medical statistics, and all that could fit in 15 terabytes of space. Other than statistics, photos, videos, and maps would be on
the drive. Documentation of the current world would be placed on the drive, including a video message from the creator of the time capsule, and
pictures and maps of the area it was planted. In conclusion, the hard drive would be the main item of the capsule, containing all the information
needed. Secondly, an item that would be more valuable over time could be useful such as a ring. The finder of the capsule could either make use the
ring or sell it and make a bit of money. The item would have no need for a fourteen–karat gold ring, but even simple titanium or maybe silver make.

possibilities, whether a major science breakthrough or just a smile on someone's face as they uncover someone's third–grade project. Understanding the

Drive In Movie Theater History
History of Drive–In Movie Theater Drive–in movie theaters were extremely popular during the 1930' through the early 2000's. Creators, facts, and
closed are main points in the history of drive–in movie theaters. Richard Hollingshead made history June 6, 1933, when he opened the first drive–in
movie theater in Camden, New Jersey (Cohen). Richard was a sales manager at his dad's store, Whiz Auto Products (Cohen). The idea for a drive–in
movie theater came to him because his mother would be very uncomfortable when she would sit in theater seats. He experimented in his own
driveway (Cohen), by nailing a screen to a tree, putting a 1928 Kodak projector on the hood of a car, and using a radio to produce sound ("Drive–In

four thousand and sixty–four drive–ins in the United States and Canada (Cohen). The largest drive–in movie theater was the All–Weather Drive–In in
Copiague, New York (Drive–in Movie History). It had two thousand five hundred parking spaces, one thousand two hundred indoor seats, a restaurant,

History of the Drive-In Movie Theater Essay
History of the Drive–In Movie Theater
The story of the drive–in movie theater begins with one man. That man was Richard Milton Hollingshead, Jr., born on February 25, 1900, the "father"
of the drive–in.
The drive–in got its humble beginnings in the driveway of Hollingshead's Riverton, New Jersey home, at 212 Thomas Avenue. This is where his first
experimentations took place. Setting a 1928 Kodak projector on the hood of the family car, he projected the film onto a screen he had nailed to a tree.
He tested the potential hazards of foul weather by turning on his lawn sprinkler to simulate a rainstorm. His home radio sitting behind the screen to
provide sound, Hollingshead sat in his car watching and listening. The car windows up or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pennsauken Township was the location. The theater was called the Automobile Movie Theatre. The marquee simply stated "Drive–in Theatre."
Opening night drew a full house. Many were there for free, however, as Hollingshead and Smith had distributed free passes to as many local media as
they could. The first film ever shown at a drive–in was the 1932 release Wife Beware, starring Adolphe Menjou. The partners complained they were
not able to obtain a first–run film from a distributor. This was due to the fear that the gate at indoor houses would be lessened. This problem would
plague drive–ins forever. Many shorts accompanied the feature. Admission was twenty–five cents per person. Three or more in a car were admitted for
the price of one dollar.
Initially the plan was to have three shows a night. There would be one at 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30 P.M. But in order to fit all shows in, films had to
be edited. This system did not work well. Apparently the partners realized this mistake early; for after only the second night, the schedule was
changed to only two shows a night. Now there would be one at 8:45 and 10:45 P.M. The program changed twice a week, on Wednesdays and
Sundays. The two men also learned early on about the difficulties in preparing a quality scheduling format. The films had to be started early enough to
allow time to fit both in, but late enough to be visible against the fading sunlight of

Sonic Drive-In Restaurant Essay examples
The fast–food industry is changing everyday. There are new products being introduced in the market and new slogans being created. The companies in
the fast–food industry will do their best to make the greater burger, and to make bigger and better fries.
Founded in 1953, Sonic has become the largest drive–in chain in the nation. Sonic was founded by Troy Smith, Jr. in Shawnee, Oklahoma. His dream
was to own his own business. Sonic Drive–In keeps the 1950s alive through its chain of drive–in restaurants, each complete with speaker–based
ordering systems and carhop servers – some on roller skates. Sonics top competitors are McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's. McDonald's is the

Exhibit 2. Swot Analysis of Sonic: America's Drive–in
Opportunities: Strengths: Sonics financial performance has had a great growth in the economy. From 1992–2001, net sales increased annually by
27%,19%,25%,22%,21%,20%,17%,8%,and 18%. And on March 22, 2003, Sonic reported net income of $12.6 billion and revenue increased by 19%.
Another opportunity is Sonic is very product differentiated. Sonic is known for its unique made–to–order menu items. Sonic continues to support menu
innovations, such as its breakfast menu, Sonic Summer Nights, toaster sandwiches, extra–long cheese coneys, and frozen and fountain favorites.
Hamburgers are made to order and served in aluminum foil, preserving the heat and drinks are served in Styrofoam cups to preserve the cold.
Opportunities: Weakness: Human resources: There is a low employee rate because of the high turnover. The restaurant industry tends employ more
retirees than the younger generation. However, the industry could strengthen this weakness, by making the companies more attractive to the younger
generation.
Threats: Strengths: Sonic is operating in a fast–food industry that is dominated by large competitors, but through it all Sonic stays on top as the nations
largest drive– in chain.
Threats: Weakness: The rising popularity of dieting could be real threat to Sonic. Sonics competitors have low–carb menus and Sonic does not carry it

Drive In Theater Essay
As a mother, I often wonder what all can be done, as a family, where we can go and have a great time. I imagine going to a drive in theater, the
excitement of enjoying a movie in my own way. This is an all American pastime. My children will have fond memories of everyone driving into the
theater, going to the playground and swinging on a swing while watching their favorite movies. Memories filled with joy, laughter, milk shakes,
eating their favorite junk food, and being able to dress up in a costume of whatever character is featured in a certain movie. They will want to bring
their children, their children's children to recreate those nostalgic feelings of being able to enjoy a drive–in theater. Let's say you and your sweetheart
want a date night. Grab a blanket and some pillows, relax under the stars for a romantic comedy on our plush green lawn. You'll be able to snuggle up
next to your sweetie, the weather is just perfect, and breezy. Fall in love under the stars, maybe even propose to her. Thismovie theater will always keep
that memory alive, and in turn you will be able to bring your future children. Do you want the drive–in experience without having to be outside? We
have just the solution. Everyone can come and enjoy our restaurant with car seating and the look of being in a drive–in. Friends and family will come
in and sit at one of our 50' style car–booths and be able to enjoy a great burger and a shake while watching one of the featured films for that evening.

The Public Company Sonic Drive Corporation
The public company Sonic Drive Corporation was my choice of analysis because of being familiar with the field of work. Sonic Corporation, also
known as Sonic Drive–In, is a fast–food restaurant chain that originated in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As of 2015, Sonic has 3,526 drive–ins across 44
states. The total amount of drive–ins includes company and franchise owned. Sonic has operated since the 1950's and is known for its carhops
delivering food to cars on roller skates (Shine). The restaurant's menu consists of hamburgers and hot dogs with fries and tots following as side
items. The drink options available range all the way from soft drinks to slushes and even milkshakes. Customers are also given the choice to
combine different flavors to create thousands of drink possibilities. It all started at the end of World War II. The founder of Sonic, Troy N. Smith
resided in Seminole, Oklahoma. His job at the end of the war was as a milkman. Soon after that career, he opened up a cottage cafГ© named Troy's
Pan Full of Chicken. By the time 1953 rolled around, he had partnered up resulting in a walk–up root beer stand named Top Hat. The operation brought
in astonishing sales resulting in more expansion (Blackburn). The insight of a speaker system for vehicles was then implemented at the drive–ins. After
the installation of a speaker system, sales had nearly tripled. It wasn't until 1959 that the name of Top Hat wasn't a problem in the legal system. All

Usb Drives And Usb Drive Data Transfer
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1. INTRODUCTION Portability and mobility of storage devices like flash drives and USB devices are
becoming so popular to carry and transport data on the go. Unlike CD/DVD, hard drive, floppy disk or tape drive, a flash memory has no moving
parts, so it guarantees fast read/write speeds and more durable compared to other forms of storage media. Using a flash drive/memory card to
transfer a file typically uses a computer (e.g. laptop, pc, netbook or tablet) to initialize mass storage communication which is not portable.
Smartphone can exchange the data through Bluetooth but can't act as host to USB drive to USB drive communication for data transfer. The
proposed system bridges the gap of USB drive to USB drive data transfer when a computer is not present. Because of low prices of Smartphone
almost everybody use smartphone so even Smartphone can't act as host but it can acts as mediator and can be used as user interface to give
operational command for data transfer. Moreover, booting a computer just to transfer a file/s is ridiculous. In an earlier research, an embedded system
is used wherein a slave to slave flash drive transfer makes it possible to transfer file/s using a programmable microcontroller with USB multi–role
embedded host/peripheral controller and navigation control. This makes it possible to transfer data from a flash drive to another flash drive with 100%
data integrity using MD5 checksum algorithm. That research also

Will Electronic Publications Ever Replace the Book?
At one time our world was strictly an oral culture. We recited stories, kept records stored in our memories. When writing was invented did we suddenly
stop speaking to one another or remembering facts? Of course not. At any given moment we can recall, from memory, names, dates, and places that we
have committed to memory. When the printing press was invented, did we stop writing by hand? Again, no. So, why would we stop reading a book
just because we have access to the WorldWide Web? All previous information technologies of language, rhetoric, writing and printing are technological
in themselves (Landow 218). These technologies–writing, speaking, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For these books the Internet makes life much easier. If, however, what you want is a story: an engaging novel with plot twists, vivid characters, and a
story you can relate to, you may be reluctant to jump on your computer–I understand. Stories such as these are meant to be read while curled up on a
chair sitting next to a roaring fireplace, but who has the time for that anymore? The Internet novel could very well become the book on the go.
Therefore, anywhere that you have Internet access, which is growing by the minute, you have your book their waiting for you.
Electronic publications have not only increased access to text, they have even created new ways to view and interpret literature, not to mention new
ways to write it (Landow 223). Some would argue that electronic publications leave little room for the 'true author'–the Hemingway's and Thoreau's that
write in secluded cabins, scratching novels on loose paper–but I disagree. Internet authors, while more common that those published in book form, may
be in fact be held to a higher standard. The true author is not leaving the picture, as some fear, but is now expected to continuously paint it. "Authors
are evolving into constant suppliers of new content; they are reporters and advisors as much as they are writers (Pang 349).
The downside to amateur web publications is that the works may not be as well edited as those found in book form, but more often than not the

consumers needs for fast food. The variety allows the consumer many different options of food and beverages. The largest competitive advantage for
Sonic over other fast food restaurants is during the ordering process. At Sonic, the consumer is allowed as much time as they need to browse the menu

Drive: A Close Analysis Of The Movie Drive
When analysing a film, to know if it is good or not we have to put four aspects in mind. Sound, mise–en–scГЁne, editing and cinematography. In this
essay I am going to have a close analysis of the opening scene of the movie Drive in terms of mise–en–scГЁne and sound.
Drive is a movie that is adapted from a book. The movie is a crime, drama it was first released 2011 in the US. The movie is directed by, Nicolas
Winding Refn. Winding worked along with Cliff Martinez to come up with the right music. Screenplay was written by Hossein Amini, and the book
was written by James Sallis. The stars of the movie are Ryan Gosling as (The Driver), Carey Mulligan and Bryan Cranston. First, the essay is going to
cover what is mise–en–scГЁne. Mise–en–scГЁne is very essential when making a movie. It is a French word that is translated to 'to put on stage'. The
stage would include the actor, set, costumes, makeup, light, space and props. The directors' decision on what to include on stage is very important, it
affects what the audience can see and how they perceive it. (Gibbs, 2002,p.5) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Flash Drive Advantages And Disadvantages
What is a USB Flash Drive? The term USB stands for Universal Serial Bus and is used to define a special kind of connection between a computer
and other electronic devices. The connections can serve different purposes ranging from power supply to communication. A USB flash drive is a
storage device that acts as a portable hard drive, but generally has a much more limited capability in comparison. As mentioned, their purpose is to
store digital information and to transfer information between systems. Other popular names used for these devices include; USB drive, USB
stick, thumb drive and memory stick. Advantages of using USBs (at least 4) USBs have an assortment of advantages associated with them. They
are extremely portable, allowing for information to be easily carried around and relocated. This can go a long way for jobs and school projects, as
it allows work to be taken home for further use. Another great advantage is their ease of use, as they are extremely simple to use and are extremely
fast at storing information. This could come in handy in emergencies where information needs to be saved urgently. An example of this, although
extreme, would be in the case of an evacuation, whether that is a fire or some other emergency. This work could quickly be stored onto a USB so it
is saved. USBs are also extremely compatible, as most modern computers are designed to include USB access. This allows an almost universal
transferability of information between computers, excellent

with consistency but if students neglect to backup work every time it is changed then them being in charge of their own backup would ne unpractical
because in the event of data loss they could not backup to the most recent version of the file.
There also arises an issue of students bringing their own storage media which as well as external storage devices includes the student's device itself. It
is possible that the student's devices have become corrupted with various issues such as, worms, virus, adware and spyware. Depending on the
conditions, the network connection may create an environment for the malware to spread to other devices and cause multiple infections. However an
advantage of this would be the school would not need to spend money on backup hardware.
File types would become an issue when students are using a range of freeware on their devices. Rather than pay $1000 dollars for Adobe
Photoshop as explained earlier freeware is available that can perform the same tasks to the same or a less technical level. These often have their
own file types to save in but many of them for example Kingston office allows users to save in the same file type or a compatible file type for its
paid counterpart, however some freeware may not offer this feature which means all work will need to be completed on the students device in

The Invention Of Usb Flash Drive Or Usb Stick Driver
The invention of USB flash drive or USB stick driver is based on PC connectors condition at that time, which is too much and very complicated.
According to John Garger in his article Who Invented the USB Flash Drive?, USB mass storage devices were first developed by a group of computer
companies including Intel, Compaq, Microsoft, Sony, DEC, IBM, and Northern Telecom. They want to make a special basic device connection
protocol to standardize the PC connectors; this will facilitate data transfer and connection between devices. Universal Serial Bus or better known as
USB was first introduced in late 1995 and released in January 1996. Now USB flash drive has a standard set by the International Electro–technical

In securing data storage, information, and applications, USB flash drives use biometric software and encryption as a liability or as a norm. The
on–the–fly encryption system or OTFE is used to encrypt large amounts of data in a transparent manner. An example is IEEE 1667, According to
Brenda Barron in his article IEEE 1667 format makes for cross–platform USB drive security, this is one of the efforts to create a generic authentication

applications used to search and extract digital evidence on computers and USB flash drives. In addition, software or applications such as FreeOTFE
are used for storing data, configuration information, and others on a USB flash drive without the host computer 's registry. In 2005, most USB flash
drives support machine learning, which uses predesigned model design and algorithms that match predictions for predictive analysis. Such as a

Abstract– The paper presents an analytic insight into the speed control of a dc Motor drive using a more stout, prompt and stabilized technique than
conventionally used. The desired dynamics are difficult to achieve with conventional controllers. New techniques are attempted in the literature to get
the desired performance. Here, Sliding Mode Control – a robust and non–linear control, is considered. Its understanding is simple and the performance
of the whole drive system is found to be much enhanced as compared to the conventional Proportional Integral Control method. In this paper, analysis
of the dc drive is done when subjected to different circumstances of speed variations as well as load variations. It is then established that the range of
speed under which the drive can operate – without changing the parameters of the controllers, is much wider with the Sliding Mode Control.
Keywords– dc Motor, PI Control, SMC, VSC, Matlab/Simulink Introduction
Dc Motors were once the only devices known to convert electrical energy to mechanical energy or vice versa. Although they were inherited
successfully by ac motors and vector control drives; they still show promising advantages like reliability, cost effectiveness, and moreover operator
friendliness.

Hard Drive Advantages And Disadvantages
The conventional turning hard drive is the fundamental nonvolatile stockpiling on a PC. That is, data on it doesn't "leave" when you kill the
framework, as is valid for information put away in RAM. A hard drives is basically a metal platter with an attractive covering that stores your
information, whether climate reports from the most recent century, a superior quality duplicate of the Star Wars set of three, or your advanced
music gathering. A read/compose head on an arm gets to the information while the platters are turning. A SSD does practically everything a hard
drive does, yet information is rather put away on interconnected glimmer memory chips that hold the information notwithstanding when there's no
force present. The chips can either be for all time introduced on the framework's motherboard (as on some little portable PCs and ultrabooks), on a
PCI Express (PCIe) card (in some top of the line workstations), or in a crate that is estimated, molded, and wired to opening in for a tablet or
desktop's hard drive (basic on everything else). These blaze memory chips are of an alternate sort than is utilized as a part of USB thumb drives, and
are ordinarily quicker and more solid. SSDs are therefore more costly than USB thumb drives of the same limits. Note:... Show more content on

The First Recorded Dolphin Drive Occurred Between 1936 And...
In 1933, the finding of the first recorded dolphin drive occurred between 1936 and 1944. According to the 'History of Taiji' these hunts in 1969 were
being led in a larger scale, this commencing what influenced the Taiji hunts that are happening today. The main aims of these hunts were to capture
pilot whales to be 'initiated' as prized attractions for the Taiji Whale Museum. Thus, thedolphin drive was purely for profit, having nothing to do with
cultural history. As some local fishermen might claim (Whiting, 2014, para. 6). Taiji is a town in Japan that has become notoriously known for it's
annual dolphin hunting drive held between the months of September until March. During these gruelling 7 months, dolphins are either slaughtered for
their meat or taken to captivity where they will spend their lives performing tricks for little to no amounts of food. But alas, as the world views these
as a form of animal cruelty and unjust behaviour, community members of Taiji view the hunting's as a long held tradition.
The so–called 'fisherman' (a select few) work in unison with wildlife park trainers who would inspect the dolphins personally and chose the one's that
are 'pretty' and are able to follow given directions for certain tricks to live their lives in captivity. Which subsequently is just as much as the same fate
as their fellow porpoises. The hunters use specific 'equipment' when dealing with these animals, banger poles are used to strike against the boat to drive

Problems With A Hard Disk Drive Space Essay
If you have been online for any length of time you have run into a few basic computer problems. If you are like me you do a search on your favorite
search engine for the solution to the problem. This article gives you some simple fixes to common problems computer users run into online. Problem
#1 One problem I run into often is that my computer will occasionally start to run really slow. There are many reasons this may occur including ahard
disk drive which is running short on available disk space, bad files left from software programs that have been installed or uninstalled, corrupt data,
missing Windows updates or outdated drivers, a computer that is overheating because of a problem with the fan, corrupt OS, or simply bad
Hardware. The solution to a slow running computer is based on which of the above reasons can be attributed to the problem. To free up hard disk
drive space you can take a few steps to free up space. You should have between 200 and 500MB of free hard disk drive space on your computer to
accommodate swap files and temporary files. To free up space run "Disk Cleanup", uninstall old programs or games that you no longer use. If you are
running Windows XP or Vista you can disable System Restore, disable hibernation or delete temporary files. Running Scandisk can insure that there is
nothing physically wrong with the hard disk drive and running Defrag will make sure that the data is arranged in the best possible order. You may also

What Is Hard Disk Drive?
Hard Drive Physical elements
What is hard disk drive?
A hard disk drive (often shortened as disc, hard drive, or HDD) is a nonvolatile storage device that stores digitally encoded information on fast
rotating rigid (i.e. hard) platters with magnetic surfaces. to be precise, "drive" refers to the motorized mechanical side that 's distinct from its
medium, like a tape drive and its tape, or a diskette drive and its diskette. Early HDDs had removable media; but, a HDD nowadays is usually a sealed
unit (except for a filtered vent hole to equalize air pressure) with fixed media.
How hard drive works?
A hard disk is a sealed unit containing variety of platters in a stack. hard disks could also be mounted either in a horizontal or a vertical position.
during this description, the drive is mounted horizontally.
Electromagnetic read/write heads are positioned on top of and below every platter. because the platters spin, the drive heads move in toward the middle
surface and out toward the boundary. in this approach, the drive heads might reach the complete surface of every platter.
Hard drive physical component
PLATTERS:
Platter is a circular, metal disk that 's mounted within a hard disk drive. many platters are mounted on a fixed spindle motor to make new information
storage surfaces in a smaller space. The platter incorporates a core created from aluminum or glass substrate, coated with a filmsy layer of ferric oxide
or cobalt alloy. On each side of the substrate material, the

How A Usb Drive Can Be Used For More Than Just Storing Data
A USB Drive is known for carry data, be it music, photos, documents, videos, etc. But there 's a whole other side to these handy little gadgets. Take
a look at these 10 ways that a USB drive can be used for more than just storing data. 1. Run portable applications (just like your smart phone)
Portable apps are becoming more and more popular everyday and businesses are starting to see the benefits of using them internally and externally
to market their products. USB drives are perfect devices for these applications. For instance, OpenOffice, which is a complete office suite that
contains a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tool, drawing software and database, is available as a portable app. Mozilla Firefox and
Thunderbird offer portable web navigation as portable applications. If you take these tools, namely the ability to check your email, surf the web
and be able to use a full office suite, in combination with the mobility of a USB drive, you 've given yourself the ability to redefine your office
environment! If you need more, you can choose a variety of other applications for use on a USB drive from Portableapps.com. You can even
download an entire package of applications that include some cool tools like an audio player, games, antivirus utilities and a customizable menu
system that is dedicated to your USB drive. 2. Boot an operating system Some of us older geeks remember making thirty copies of a "boot disk" on old

Three–phase induction motor of wound rotor type is commonly used in adjustable–speed drives. According to the type of winding on rotor, there are
two common types of induction machines namely, squirrel–cage induction motor and wound–rotor induction motor. Squirrel–cage induction motors are
mostly used in industrial drives which have cylindrical rotor with short–circuited rotor windings with the voltage supplied to stator windings. The rotor
does not have a brushes and commutator but consists of conducting bars that are placed into the rotor slots. These bars are short circuited by the
shorting rings. Whereas wound rotor induction motors have wye–connected rotor windings. In addition to the voltage that is applied to the stator
windings, the phase voltages can be supplied to the rotor winding using brushes and slip rings. However, wound–rotor induction motors have not been
widely used because their efficiency and maximum angular velocity are lower compared to squirrel–cage. On the other hand, squirrel–cage motors
have been tremendously used in high–performance electric drives and electromechanical systems. Therefore, in this thesis, only three phase

Drive In Theatre History
June 6, 2008 the flag flying over the U.S. Capitol commemorated the 75th birthday of a distinctive slice of Americana: the drive–in movie theater.
It was on that day in 1933 that Richard Hollingshead opened the first theater for the auto–bound in Camden, N.J. People paid 25 cents per car as well as
per person to see the British comedy Wives Beware under the stars.
The concept of showing movies outdoors wasn't novel; people often watched silent films on screens set up at beaches or other places boasting an
abundance of sky. However, it took an auto–parts salesman such as Hollingshead to see the genius in giving a car–loving society one more activity
they could do in their vehicles.
He first conceived the drive–in as the answer to a problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Digital cinema will be both an opportunity and a threat for drive–in owners," said the association's director of media and research Patrick Corcoran in
an e–mail. "An opportunity because digital will allow them to get new movies sooner than they do–they are often weeks behind the break for new
films. It's a threat in that the digital transition will be expensive to manage, and some may not be able to do it."
Kopp of course bets on the drive–ins' survival. In 2005, he and his wife bought the Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre in Henderson, N.C., for $22,000
on eBay. He said they've invested about $300,000 since to clear the seven acres of weeds and modernize the technology. Today the theatre can
accommodate 265 cars and show movies in a 60–foot–by–80–foot screen. The sound comes through car radios.
Film fare of the Raleigh Road and other drive–ins typically consists of G–rated films, Kopp said. Disney movies thrive, as do animated films.

The Floppy Drive in a Musical Context Essay
1.1Mechanism of a "musical" floppy drive The floppy drive itself is musical in a certain way depending on what people may perceive as musical such
as the sound of friction. In my project, the floppy drive makes sounds through pitched notes due to friction between the read–write head and the

In resume, we produce sound by using a floppy drive, a computer and a microcontroller. Simply convert properly and if there is contact between the
read write head and the diskette itself, it will produce an audible pitch. 1.2The use of floppy drive music in musical context Floppy music is quite
good to listen to in my opinion. However, some might consider it as not musical due its lack of musical characteristic as the floppy drive was not
invented to be a musical instrument but a disk reader. It also does not make any musical association with most people since floppy drives are
associated with computers and electronics. The contexts where this type of instrument might be considered "musical" in my opinion would be the
internet, a creative project and certain performances. It has never been used formally as an instrument, however, due to the tesla coils success in
concerts, I speculate that introducing floppy drive music would be a success since most YouTube videos with a musical floppy drive have pretty
high number of views and critics have been grateful the singing tesla coils. Musical diskette readers should be possible since there are a few bands
that try to implement a new experience in the audience by using new instruments that are not associated with music like tesla coils. It turns out to be

Classification Of Drive Essay

  • 1. Classification Of Drive Essay BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MOTORS AND DRIVES: In this segment, I will briefly review the diverse types of variable–speed drives used in the industry. For the most part, electronic AC and DC drives find their domination in manufacturing and commercial HVAC uses of today. This brief look at drive machineries will assist you, should you encounter any of these types in the future. In addition, I will also review the benefits and limits of each type. The types of drives I will consider are mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/electronic (eddy–current coupling, and rotating DC). MECHANICAL VARIABLE SPEED MOTOR DRIVE SYSTEM: As seen in Figure 1–7, the mechanical drive operates on the standard of variable–pitch pulleys. The pulleys are typically ... Size and weight could prohibit the use of this device in areas that would be required for mounting a drive. HYDRAULIC MOTOR DRIVES SYSTEM: Hydraulic drives have been, and continue to be, the rock of many metals processing and manufacturing functions. The hydraulic motor's small size makes it ideal for situations where high power is needed in very tight locations. In fact, the hydraulic motor's size is 1/4–1/3 the size of an equal power electric motor. Figure 1–8 indicates a hydraulic drive. In Figure 1–8, a constant– speed AC motor operates a hydraulic pump. The pump builds up the necessary operating pressure in the system to allow the hydraulic motor to develop its rated power. The speed control comes from the control valve. This valve operates like a water References: Google 2 Andrew Nunez Mechatronics December 11, 2017 faucet–the more the valve is open, the more fluid passes through the system, and the faster the speed of the hydraulic motor. Note that this system uses a coupler to connect the AC motor to the pump. The benefits of this type of drive system is the ability of the hydraulic motor to develop high torque (twisting motion of the shaft). In addition, it has a justly simple control structure (a valve), which operates at a wide speed range and has an enormously

Design Optimization Of Worm Gear Drive Conventional tipper mechanism an unload materials only at the backside of the tipper using hydraulically operated cylinder which may cause the problems of road blockage in the limited space area. The revolving hydraulic trailor overcomes the problem of unloading the vehicle on side way by using hydraulic cylinder. By using cylinder the material can be unloaded in 180 degree as per requirement. The revolving hydraulic trailor is developed and tested for its movement in all 180 degree possible angle to unload the materials in the tipper trolley and monitor the inclinations for its gradualism (linearity). Key words: Design Optimization of WormGear drive, Hydraulic Cylinder, Worm & Worm Gear Introduction Material handling in construction and civil works is one of the basic necessities. The material supply to civil and construction is provided through trucks, tractor, dumper etc. The material should be properly loaded, managed, stacked, transported and unloaded. The trailor carries the material which is loaded from the site, where the material is initially stored. It is then loaded to the trailor and transported to the required site and then unloaded. The major issues raises over here, the incompatibility of the site with the fully loaded trailor causes a lot of settling time for the trolley to get the material properly arranged and transportation time to reach its location. • 4. Personal Narrative: My Home, Plymouth, Wisconsin My home, Plymouth, Wisconsin, is a typical midwestern town located about 15 miles west of Lake Michigan and 45 minutes north of Milwaukee. With a miniscule population of about 8,400 people, it radiates peace and humility. An accurate description to capture the essence of my place include the words small, farms, corn, cows, cheese, hills, calm, and friendly. Plymouth is home to numerous large cheese production and packaging companies, which I suppose is a fitting role for a town belonging to "the cheesehead state". Main Street, the most popular and crowded area in the community is lined with two–story brick buildings constructed almost 200 years ago. There, many small businesses can be found such as a trophy shop, breakfast diner, and hair salon. You can almost always find a friendly face there to brighten your day as most residents are caring and helpful people. The Mullet River, known for being somewhat musky, weaves its way from one side of town to the other. Although it isn't the cleanest water, it sparkles in the light of the sweltering sun, providing ideal fishing locations for children and adults as well. Like ancient Greek manuscripts, the hard drive would be the most important part of the time capsule. The files stored in the capsule would not take too long to gather, but a long time to read. The files contained in the storage unit would include global warming statistics, stocks of that past couple years, census statistics, medical statistics, and all that could fit in 15 terabytes of space. Other than statistics, photos, videos, and maps would be on the drive. Documentation of the current world would be placed on the drive, including a video message from the creator of the time capsule, and pictures and maps of the area it was planted. In conclusion, the hard drive would be the main item of the capsule, containing all the information needed. Secondly, an item that would be more valuable over time could be useful such as a ring. The finder of the capsule could either make use the ring or sell it and make a bit of money. The item would have no need for a fourteen–karat gold ring, but even simple titanium or maybe silver make. That man was Richard Milton Hollingshead, Jr., born on February 25, 1900, the "father" of the drive–in. The drive–in got its humble beginnings in the driveway of Hollingshead's Riverton, New Jersey home, at 212 Thomas Avenue. This is where his first experimentations took place. Setting a 1928 Kodak projector on the hood of the family car, he projected the film onto a screen he had nailed to a tree. Many were there for free, however, as Hollingshead and Smith had distributed free passes to as many local media as they could. The first film ever shown at a drive–in was the 1932 release Wife Beware, starring Adolphe Menjou. The partners complained they were not able to obtain a first–run film from a distributor. This was due to the fear that the gate at indoor houses would be lessened. This problem would plague drive–ins forever. Many shorts accompanied the feature. Admission was twenty–five cents per person. Three or more in a car were admitted for the price of one dollar. Initially the plan was to have three shows a night. There would be one at 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30 P.M. But in order to fit all shows in, films had to be edited. This system did not work well. Apparently the partners realized this mistake early; for after only the second night, the schedule was changed to only two shows a night. Now there would be one at 8:45 and 10:45 P.M. The program changed twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. The two men also learned early on about the difficulties in preparing a quality scheduling format. Another opportunity is Sonic is very product differentiated. Sonic is known for its unique made–to–order menu items. Sonic continues to support menu innovations, such as its breakfast menu, Sonic Summer Nights, toaster sandwiches, extra–long cheese coneys, and frozen and fountain favorites. Hamburgers are made to order and served in aluminum foil, preserving the heat and drinks are served in Styrofoam cups to preserve the cold. • 12. The Public Company Sonic Drive Corporation The public company Sonic Drive Corporation was my choice of analysis because of being familiar with the field of work. Sonic Corporation, also known as Sonic Drive–In, is a fast–food restaurant chain that originated in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As of 2015, Sonic has 3,526 drive–ins across 44 states. The total amount of drive–ins includes company and franchise owned. Sonic has operated since the 1950's and is known for its carhops delivering food to cars on roller skates (Shine). The restaurant's menu consists of hamburgers and hot dogs with fries and tots following as side items. The drink options available range all the way from soft drinks to slushes and even milkshakes. Customers are also given the choice to combine different flavors to create thousands of drink possibilities. It all started at the end of World War II. The founder of Sonic, Troy N. Smith resided in Seminole, Oklahoma. His job at the end of the war was as a milkman. Soon after that career, he opened up a cottage cafГ© named Troy's Pan Full of Chicken. By the time 1953 rolled around, he had partnered up resulting in a walk–up root beer stand named Top Hat. The operation brought in astonishing sales resulting in more expansion (Blackburn). The insight of a speaker system for vehicles was then implemented at the drive–ins. After the installation of a speaker system, sales had nearly tripled. It wasn't until 1959 that the name of Top Hat wasn't a problem in the legal system. All owners were informed about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Usb Drives And Usb Drive Data Transfer CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1. INTRODUCTION Portability and mobility of storage devices like flash drives and USB devices are becoming so popular to carry and transport data on the go. Unlike CD/DVD, hard drive, floppy disk or tape drive, a flash memory has no moving parts, so it guarantees fast read/write speeds and more durable compared to other forms of storage media. Using a flash drive/memory card to transfer a file typically uses a computer (e.g. laptop, pc, netbook or tablet) to initialize mass storage communication which is not portable. Smartphone can exchange the data through Bluetooth but can't act as host to USB drive to USB drive communication for data transfer. The proposed system bridges the gap of USB drive to USB drive data transfer when a computer is not present. Because of low prices of Smartphone almost everybody use smartphone so even Smartphone can't act as host but it can acts as mediator and can be used as user interface to give operational command for data transfer. Moreover, booting a computer just to transfer a file/s is ridiculous. In an earlier research, an embedded system is used wherein a slave to slave flash drive transfer makes it possible to transfer file/s using a programmable microcontroller with USB multi–role embedded host/peripheral controller and navigation control. This makes it possible to transfer data from a flash drive to another flash drive with 100% data integrity using MD5 checksum algorithm. That research also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Hard Cover vs. Hard Drive Essay Hard Cover vs. Hard Drive Will Electronic Publications Ever Replace the Book? At one time our world was strictly an oral culture. We recited stories, kept records stored in our memories. When writing was invented did we suddenly stop speaking to one another or remembering facts? Of course not. At any given moment we can recall, from memory, names, dates, and places that we have committed to memory. When the printing press was invented, did we stop writing by hand? Again, no. So, why would we stop reading a book just because we have access to the WorldWide Web? All previous information technologies of language, rhetoric, writing and printing are technological in themselves (Landow 218). These technologies–writing, speaking, ... Stories such as these are meant to be read while curled up on a chair sitting next to a roaring fireplace, but who has the time for that anymore? The Internet novel could very well become the book on the go. Therefore, anywhere that you have Internet access, which is growing by the minute, you have your book their waiting for you. Electronic publications have not only increased access to text, they have even created new ways to view and interpret literature, not to mention new ways to write it (Landow 223). Some would argue that electronic publications leave little room for the 'true author'–the Hemingway's and Thoreau's that write in secluded cabins, scratching novels on loose paper–but I disagree. Internet authors, while more common that those published in book form, may be in fact be held to a higher standard. The true author is not leaving the picture, as some fear, but is now expected to continuously paint it. "Authors are evolving into constant suppliers of new content; they are reporters and advisors as much as they are writers (Pang 349). Analysis of SMC based Variable–Speed Phase–Controlled dc Drive for its Speed Range Mohammad Ali and Mohammad Ayyub Department Of Electrical Engineering Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh, UP, India Email: m_ali.rs@amu.ac.in Abstract– The paper presents an analytic insight into the speed control of a dc Motor drive using a more stout, prompt and stabilized technique than conventionally used. The desired dynamics are difficult to achieve with conventional controllers. New techniques are attempted in the literature to get the desired performance. Here, Sliding Mode Control – a robust and non–linear control, is considered. Its understanding is simple and the performance of the whole drive system is found to be much enhanced as compared to the conventional Proportional Integral Control method. In this paper, analysis of the dc drive is done when subjected to different circumstances of speed variations as well as load variations. It is then established that the range of speed under which the drive can operate – without changing the parameters of the controllers, is much wider with the Sliding Mode Control. A read/compose head on an arm gets to the information while the platters are turning. A SSD does practically everything a hard drive does, yet information is rather put away on interconnected glimmer memory chips that hold the information notwithstanding when there's no force present. The main aims of these hunts were to capture pilot whales to be 'initiated' as prized attractions for the Taiji Whale Museum. During these gruelling 7 months, dolphins are either slaughtered for their meat or taken to captivity where they will spend their lives performing tricks for little to no amounts of food. • 31. What Is Hard Disk Drive? Hard Drive Physical elements What is hard disk drive? A hard disk drive (often shortened as disc, hard drive, or HDD) is a nonvolatile storage device that stores digitally encoded information on fast rotating rigid (i.e. hard) platters with magnetic surfaces. to be precise, "drive" refers to the motorized mechanical side that 's distinct from its medium, like a tape drive and its tape, or a diskette drive and its diskette. Early HDDs had removable media; but, a HDD nowadays is usually a sealed unit (except for a filtered vent hole to equalize air pressure) with fixed media. How hard drive works? A hard disk is a sealed unit containing variety of platters in a stack. hard disks could also be mounted either in a horizontal or a vertical position. during this description, the drive is mounted horizontally. Electromagnetic read/write heads are positioned on top of and below every platter. because the platters spin, the drive heads move in toward the middle surface and out toward the boundary. in this approach, the drive heads might reach the complete surface of every platter. Hard drive physical component PLATTERS: Platter is a circular, metal disk that 's mounted within a hard disk drive. many platters are mounted on a fixed spindle motor to make new information storage surfaces in a smaller space. How A Usb Drive Can Be Used For More Than Just Storing Data A USB Drive is known for carry data, be it music, photos, documents, videos, etc. But there 's a whole other side to these handy little gadgets. Take a look at these 10 ways that a USB drive can be used for more than just storing data. 1. Run portable applications (just like your smart phone) Portable apps are becoming more and more popular everyday and businesses are starting to see the benefits of using them internally and externally to market their products. USB drives are perfect devices for these applications. For instance, OpenOffice, which is a complete office suite that contains a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tool, drawing software and database, is available as a portable app. Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird offer portable web navigation as portable applications. If you take these tools, namely the ability to check your email, surf the web and be able to use a full office suite, in combination with the mobility of a USB drive, you 've given yourself the ability to redefine your office environment! If you need more, you can choose a variety of other applications for use on a USB drive from Portableapps.com. You can even download an entire package of applications that include some cool tools like an audio player, games, antivirus utilities and a customizable menu system that is dedicated to your USB drive. 2. Boot an operating system Some of us older geeks remember making thirty copies of a "boot disk" on old 3.5 floppy disks. If you crash your hard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the standout feature for an SUV is its nifty massaging capabilities, what does that tell you about the rest of the vehicle? Maybe not as much as you think, especially if your week–long obsession was with the 22–way power driver's seat offering cooling and heating capabilities as well as a rubbing–down feature that might have you terminating your masseuse's service. But the Lincoln MKX is much more than that, a five–passenger midsize luxury SUV now in its second generation. As before, the MKX shares its mechanical underpinnings with the Ford Edge, but there are important differences here too, including in sheet metal, fascias, engine choices, and the interiors. ... The base price for a front–wheel drive model begins at $38,260. Choose all–wheel drive and your MKX will start at $40,755. As tested, my Reserve model came with a $47,650 base price and topped out at $63,535. Lincoln doesn't offer official trim levels, calling them "equipment groups" instead. Standard, Premiere and Reserve groups are offered; a special high–end Black Label package is also available. Instead of the standard 3.7–liter, naturally aspired V–6 engine, the test model received the 2.7–liter, turbocharged V–6 engine, an option that immediately adds $2,000 to your cost. Reaching the final price came through still more upgrades, including the special bronze fire metallic paint ($495), a cargo utility package ($395), climate package ($595), technology package ($1,720), driver assist package ($1,650), luxury package ($4,400), second–row inflatable seat belts ($250), 21–inch polished aluminum wheels ($1,300), and adaptive steering ($625). The 22–way power driver's seat was yet another option, this one coming in at $1,500. All told, Lincoln added nearly $15,000 in options to a model that already had a price premium topping $7,500 over the standard all–wheel drive issue.

Three–phase induction motor of wound rotor type is commonly used in adjustable–speed drives. According to the type of winding on rotor, there are two common types of induction machines namely, squirrel–cage induction motor and wound–rotor induction motor. Squirrel–cage induction motors are mostly used in industrial drives which have cylindrical rotor with short–circuited rotor windings with the voltage supplied to stator windings. The rotor does not have a brushes and commutator but consists of conducting bars that are placed into the rotor slots. These bars are short circuited by the shorting rings. Whereas wound rotor induction motors have wye–connected rotor windings. In addition to the voltage that is applied to the stator windings, the phase voltages can be supplied to the rotor winding using brushes and slip rings. However, wound–rotor induction motors have not been widely used because their efficiency and maximum angular velocity are lower compared to squirrel–cage. On the other hand, squirrel–cage motors have been tremendously used in high–performance electric drives and electromechanical systems. Therefore, in this thesis, only three phase squirrel–cage induction motor drive is taken and performance analysis has been done using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Technology has become the new face of everything the new rave. With people continually wanting the best new thing, it brings a certain desire to make to best and be on top in the technical world that we are living in today. The new hottest craze that it storming our nation, for the time being is, driverless cars. Essentially it is important to know how these cars work, if there are any problems that will occur when driving them and how are they going to be used in the world today? Furthermore. autonomous, are cars that drive themsleves, so how do they work? For instance there are companies like Tesla, Volvo, Ford and many other car companies that are jumping on this wagon to sucess. The main question that is coming up, is how? How are they doing this? How do they drive by themseleves? Autonomous cars, use sensers and cameras. There are cameras built into the car that show everything that is around them, with that there are also sensers place in different places all around the car. Sensored cars that help with backing up and parking are simular to the driverless cars but with everything there are limitations with the new tecnology. The sensers in the car help to allow the car to be spaced enough away from its surroundings and to never get too close to the objects and other vehicals. That is the exact same concept for the autonomous cars. With the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Assuming We All Are Familiar b)Solid State Drive (SSD) Assuming we all are familiar with USB memory stick, an SSD is can be considered as an oversized and more complicated version of the USB stick. Unlike the HDDs, there are no moving parts in the SSDs. Thus, it stores data in microchips and is faster than the HDDs. The choice of which of the two is the better depends on the buyer's needs and preference. The price of SSDs is comparatively higher so as its performances relatively faster than HDDs [5]. Thus, if the buyer is more concern for better performance and not so concern about the price, he or she can go for SSD rather than HDD. However, if the buyer is more concern about the price than the performance then he or she can go for HDD. Figure 6 below shows a... This is the most important section of the document and it deals with the assembling, configuration, and installation the PC components. Even though this task cannot be detailed in a short document of this length, I will try my best to summarize the process in a simplest possible manner. The assembling of the software components of PC can easily be done by using some of the available online resources. Therefore, I have intentionally excluded those steps to shorten the document. The users of this guide are urged to refer available online videos for additional references concerning this subject and any other information they might need. Customization of a PC can be done just by replacing a single component or multiple components. Whether the customizing is for improving the performance or for replacing a broken component, making a mindset for customizing comes in first place. Users are required to buy desired component/components following the guidelines provided in the earlier section of this guide. Since, customizing requires the installation of one or more components based on the user's preference and necessities, I am giving brief guidelines for installing the system unit followed by its ... It was on that day in 1933 that Richard Hollingshead opened the first theater for the auto–bound in Camden, N.J. People paid 25 cents per car as well as per person to see the British comedy Wives Beware under the stars. The concept of showing movies outdoors wasn't novel; people often watched silent films on screens set up at beaches or other places boasting an abundance of sky. However, it took an auto–parts salesman such as Hollingshead to see the genius in giving a car–loving society one more activity they could do in their vehicles. He first conceived the drive–in as the answer to a problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Digital cinema will be both an opportunity and a threat for drive–in owners," said the association's director of media and research Patrick Corcoran in an e–mail. "An opportunity because digital will allow them to get new movies sooner than they do–they are often weeks behind the break for new films. It's a threat in that the digital transition will be expensive to manage, and some may not be able to do it." Kopp of course bets on the drive–ins' survival. In 2005, he and his wife bought the Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre in Henderson, N.C., for $22,000 on eBay. He said they've invested about $300,000 since to clear the seven acres of weeds and modernize the technology. Today the theatre can accommodate 265 cars and show movies in a 60–foot–by–80–foot screen. The sound comes through car radios. Sometimes I had to work extra hard to get orders out on time when we were short on crew members. On nights like those I really felt like SpongeBob because I was working in the kitchen by myself. It sounds like too much work but it was really fun and I actually felt like I was good at something. Unlike Sonic Drive–in, Nspire was always slow. • 44. The Floppy Drive in a Musical Context Essay 1.1Mechanism of a "musical" floppy drive The floppy drive itself is musical in a certain way depending on what people may perceive as musical such as the sound of friction. In my project, the floppy drive makes sounds through pitched notes due to friction between the read–write head and the diskette. It produces notes since the diskette has contact friction with read write head, in revolution. Recall that sine waves can be viewed as the progression of a circle over time, or a revolution. Spinning at higher speeds increases the pitch and also the frequency. The spindle motor spins the floppy drive at a certain speed controlled by the microcontroller. Then, read write head will be positioned on the diskette with a drive motor that will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In resume, we produce sound by using a floppy drive, a computer and a microcontroller. Simply convert properly and if there is contact between the read write head and the diskette itself, it will produce an audible pitch. 1.2The use of floppy drive music in musical context Floppy music is quite good to listen to in my opinion. However, some might consider it as not musical due its lack of musical characteristic as the floppy drive was not invented to be a musical instrument but a disk reader. It also does not make any musical association with most people since floppy drives are associated with computers and electronics. The contexts where this type of instrument might be considered "musical" in my opinion would be the internet, a creative project and certain performances. It has never been used formally as an instrument, however, due to the tesla coils success in concerts, I speculate that introducing floppy drive music would be a success since most YouTube videos with a musical floppy drive have pretty high number of views and critics have been grateful the singing tesla coils. Musical diskette readers should be possible since there are a few bands that try to implement a new experience in the audience by using new instruments that are not associated with music like tesla coils.
