2. The concept of learning to live together focuses
on the development of understanding,
consideration and respect for others, their
beliefs, values and cultures. This concept is
central to UNESCO’s mission, recognizing that
differences and diversities are opportunities
rather than obstacles to growth.
Recognizing our interdependence, as well as the
risks and challenges involved, is the first step
towards the formulation of more effective
solutions for learning how we can live together
although this is not an easy task.
3. Inclusiveness in classroom situation play an
important role in order to create positive environment
in the school. It provides equal opportunities to the
children with special abilities and those from diverse
backgrounds. This can be possible in different ways.
Firstly teacher needs to develop an understanding on
children’s strength and weakness through effective
techniques. But more important is that the teacher
must consider the required adaptations and
accommodations while assessing. No teacher can
proceed with fixed curriculum, fixed instructional
goals because one size does not fit to all. There are
various strategies which are being proved to be
effective for inclusive classroom.
5. Identifying Instructional Needs
Identifying individual needs and make an
action plan
Study the curriculum while identifying
instructional needs
Decide how children with disability can
practice in the curricular transaction
6. Individualized Educational Plan
Identify the child’s strength and weakness
Identify the child’s instructional needs
Break goal into short term objectives
Separate the objectives those to be taken up
at group and individual level
Monitor the progress
Involve the parents
7. Universal Design for Learning
Success for inclusion needs a different
initiative i.e. Universal Design for Learning
(UDL). It reflects on the awareness about the
unique nature of each learner and the need to
accommodate differences. Thus it creates
learning experiences that suit the learner and
maximize his /her ability to progress
8. Making Evaluation Learner Friendly
Decide the flexibility in grading
Decide on the purpose of grading
Determine the grading adaptation to be used
9. Differentiated Instruction’
Adaptation and Accommodations in Teaching
and Assessment
Cooperative Learning and Peer Tutoring
Supportive Positive Behavior and Classroom
Management
Using Technology Effectively
