This document analyzes the responses to a 20 question questionnaire about boxing and viewers' preferences for documentaries. Some of the key findings were that the majority of respondents were females between 17-24 years old, most watch TV in the evenings for 0-1 hours, and prefer to watch documentaries on Netflix. Regarding boxing specifically, most felt female boxing promotes equality and young people between 11-14 should be able to compete, though some had concerns about head injuries. Most associated boxing with the colors red and gold and were interested in a documentary about the sport.

This question was intended to discover the main age group that our
documentary would be aimed at . The end result revealed that the majority of
those that were asked were between the age of 17 and 24, this gives us a
younger age group to work with and gives us an idea of who to aim the
product at. Other people indicated that they fell into other age groups such as
11-16, 25-30 and 31+ which showed that we should also consider the wants
and needs of a younger and older audience other than the majority age group.

The majority of the people who were asked responded that they were
female which shows that we have an audience consisting of mostly female
viewers, however a third of those who were asked responded that they are
male which means that we will be catering for both genders but should aim
to cater mostly for a female audience. The information from this question
and the first question help to show our intended audience.

For this question we offered our audience multiple options of common colours as well as
the option to add their own colour if we had not included it in our options. The colours
with the most popularity were blue and pink which may influence our choice of colour for
our documentary (for example font colour and graphics colours). There were other
colours that showed popularity such as red, purple black, white and orange, these colours
may also be used but not as main colours.

This question was designed to show us when our documentary should be aired in order
to receive the best reception. The overall result showed that our audience watches
television in the evening which shows us our ideal time to air the documentary, this is
also ideal because most people have returned from their jobs or from school which
means there will be a large audience. After this time (evening to nighttime) the majority
of those who were asked said they watch television.
6. Q5: HOW LONG DO YOU TYPICALLY WATCH

This question helped us understand the window of opportunity we would have to show
our documentary before our audience stopped watching television. The majority of our
audience said that they only consume 0-1 hours of television per day which gives us a
small window to broadcast our documentary and for it to be received well by our
audience. Others said that they watch 2-3 hours of television which may give us a larger
window of opportunity, a minority of people said that they watch television for 4-5 hours
or more.

This question was designed to help us find which platform was the most popular for our
audience to watch documentaries on. The end result showed that the majority of our
audience watch documentaries on the online platform mostly through Netflix who are
known to stream a wide variety of documentary programmes. Other popular channels
included BBC One and Channel 4 (ITV and Sky were also voted for). However the
number of votes for Netflix may mean that our documentary is shown via the popular
streaming service.

To gauge the popularity of our topic amongst our audience we presented this question which would
tell us if our audience already liked our topic or not. Unfortunately most of those who were asked
responded that they never watch boxing on television which shows that it may not be a popular
topic for those that were asked or the audience may not watch boxing on television but may stream
it over the internet instead. Only one person responded that they often watch boxing matches
which shows that a small number are interested in the sport, the remainder of those that were
asked said they only watch big fights or occasionally watch fights.

From our feedback, 18 people said they think female boxing is good as it
teaches them to stand up for themselves, makes them stronger, is a good way
to release aggression and doesn't show sexism within sports. However, 1
person said other which may show that they are undecided on how they feel
regarding females being integrated into the sport.

From the feedback, 18 people believe that there should be more female
boxers as it shows equality between genders, diversion and it shows that it is
not just a masculine sport. However, 2 people said there should not be which
could reinforce gender stereotypes.

From the results, it is evident that most people believe those who are between
the ages of 11-14 should compete in boxing competitions as it can keep them
fit, and this is the stage that majority of teenagers are maturing. They may even
find a passion for sport. However, the results vary, as the audience other
individuals believe that those who are of different ages should be allowed to be
in contact with sports.

From the audience feedback, the majority of people said that those aged
between 4-17 should be able to compete in these sports as it builds
confidence, self esteem, it allows them to use it in defence if its ever
needed and it releases anger. Teens may have a passion for this as well.

From the feedback, it was evident that 13 people do not find fighting
repulsive. However, 7 people did which could show that they find fighting
a dangerous and disgusting which could reinforce it to be a negative sport.

From the feedback, it is evident that 15 people are concerned about the
injuries that could occur within boxing. This could show that boxing is a
vigorous sport. However, 5 people are not concerned which could imply
they may play that sport themselves.

¾ people showed concern for the issue however many of the responses
talked about ‘accidents’ rather than damage sustained over time, this
could be an interesting segment of the documentary to educate people
on the dangers of repeated concussions.

the survey are in our target audience this is a successful return as
the majority of the people in our target audience would want to

35% of parents wouldn’t allow their children to box, this shows the stigmas
surrounding combat sports like boxing and the difficulties children face in
getting involved with sports. Could ask interviewees if they faced any
opposition in getting involved with the sport. Could also show all the
positives of training for the sport without actually getting involved in
contests.

Most people claimed to know the difference between amateur and pro
boxing, as two of the main purpose of a documentary are to inform and
educate we will exclude this from the documentary, there is no point
telling people what they already know.
