This question was intended to discover the main age group that our
documentary would be aimed at . The end result revealed that the majority of
those that were asked were between the age of 17 and 24, this gives us a
younger age group to work with and gives us an idea of who to aim the
product at. Other people indicated that they fell into other age groups such as
11-16, 25-30 and 31+ which showed that we should also consider the wants
and needs of a younger and older audience other than the majority age group.

Male Female Other
The majority of the people who were asked responded that they were
female which shows that we have an audience consisting of mostly female
viewers, however a third of those who were asked responded that they are
male which means that we will be catering for both genders but should aim
to cater mostly for a female audience. The information from this question
and the first question help to show our intended audience.

For this question we offered our audience multiple options of common colours as well as
the option to add their own colour if we had not included it in our options. The colours
with the most popularity were blue and pink which may influence our choice of colour for
our documentary (for example font colour and graphics colours). There were other
colours that showed popularity such as red, purple black, white and orange, these colours
may also be used but not as main colours.
Q4: WHAT TIME DO YOU USUALLY WATCH
TELEVISION?

Nighttime
Watershed
This question was designed to show us when our documentary should be aired in order
to receive the best reception. The overall result showed that our audience watches
television in the evening which shows us our ideal time to air the documentary, this is
also ideal because most people have returned from their jobs or from school which
means there will be a large audience. After this time (evening to nighttime) the majority
of those who were asked said they watch television.

This question helped us understand the window of opportunity we would have to show
our documentary before our audience stopped watching television. The majority of our
audience said that they only consume 0-1 hours of television per day which gives us a
small window to broadcast our documentary and for it to be received well by our
audience. Others said that they watch 2-3 hours of television which may give us a larger
window of opportunity, a minority of people said that they watch television for 4-5 hours
or more.

This question was designed to help us find which platform was the most popular for our
audience to watch documentaries on. The end result showed that the majority of our
audience watch documentaries on the online platform mostly through Netflix who are
known to stream a wide variety of documentary programmes. Other popular channels
included BBC One and Channel 4 (ITV and Sky were also voted for). However the
number of votes for Netflix may mean that our documentary is shown via the popular
streaming service.

To gauge the popularity of our topic amongst our audience we presented this question which would
tell us if our audience already liked our topic or not. Unfortunately most of those who were asked
responded that they never watch boxing on television which shows that it may not be a popular
topic for those that were asked or the audience may not watch boxing on television but may stream
it over the internet instead. Only one person responded that they often watch boxing matches
which shows that a small number are interested in the sport, the remainder of those that were
asked said they only watch big fights or occasionally watch fights.

on the dangers of repeated concussions.
Q15: WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE A
DOCUMENTARY ABOUT BOXING?

4
5
Yes No
This is a 50/50 split. Considering not all of the people partaking in
the survey are in our target audience this is a successful return as
the majority of the people in our target audience would want to
watch the documentary.
Q16: WOULD YOU ALLOW YOUR CHILDREN TO
BOX? WHY?
Yes
No
35% of parents wouldn’t allow their children to box, this shows the stigmas
surrounding combat sports like boxing and the difficulties children face in
getting involved with sports. Could ask interviewees if they faced any
opposition in getting involved with the sport. Could also show all the
positives of training for the sport without actually getting involved in
contests.

educate we will exclude this from the documentary, there is no point
telling people what they already know.

Young Old Man Woman
The results suggest a slight favouring towards young men doing the
voiceover. As a result we will try to have our narrator be a young man to
appeal to our target audience.
Q20: WOULD YOU LIKE TO WATCH SPORT
DOCUMENTARIES?
Yes
No
Once again this is a 50/50 split. Considering not all of the people
partaking in the survey are in our target audience this is a successful
return as the majority of the people in our target audience would
want to watch sports documentaries.

Questionnaire Analysis Reveals Insights for Boxing Doc

The end result revealed that the majority of those that were asked were between the age of 17 and 24, this gives us a younger age group to work with and gives us an idea of who to aim the product at. Other people indicated that they fell into other age groups such as 11-16, 25-30 and 31+ which showed that we should also consider the wants and needs of a younger and older audience other than the majority age group.
  • 3. Q2: WHAT IS YOUR GENDER? 0 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 Male Female Other The majority of the people who were asked responded that they were female which shows that we have an audience consisting of mostly female viewers, however a third of those who were asked responded that they are male which means that we will be catering for both genders but should aim to cater mostly for a female audience. The information from this question and the first question help to show our intended audience.

There were other colours that showed popularity such as red, purple black, white and orange, these colours may also be used but not as main colours.
