Last 30 Week Research Paper
Over the last 30 days, I was challenged to change one of the behaviors I didn't like about myself. I choose to start saving my money. I will first
explain my research I found and then go through my plan to save more. My goal is to have $1,000 saved at the end of the four weeks. Before I
started this, I went shopping about three to four times a week. Over the past 30 days I tried to cut down my shopping, and budget myself. I will go
through my four weeks, and explain what I did over the past 30 days to keep myself from spending money. "The easiest way to save money rather than
spending it is to make sure that that you never get a chance to spend the money in the first place" (Lewis step 1). By this they mean you should have
part of your money deposited into a saving account ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On day 1 buy gas, which is about $30. Then on day three I buy myself lunch which is about $10. After day three I have $10 left for food and gas,
$50 left for Christmas presents, and $40 left for myself. Day 5 I go get my nails done which is all of my $40, then I buy lunch which is about $10.
All the money I have left to spend is on Christmas presents. On day six I buy stuff for my dad's Christmas present which ends up being about $50. I
didn't spend any more money on day seven which means I met my budget again that means $10 more for myself next week! At the end of week 3 I
have about $1,300 in my savings account. The fourth and final week, I tell myself that I am not going to spend every penny of my budget this week.
I go all the way to day four without spending money. On day four I buy my brother's Christmas present (about $50) and lunch (about $15). On day
six I go to Target and spend my $50 I am allotted this week for myself. That leaves me with $35 for gas and food. I go the rest of the week without
spending any money. I made it the whole week without spending every penny I budgeted, yay! At the end of week four the amount in my saving
account was

Bad Role Models
Police data published by Daily Mail on the Internet, provides evidence suggesting that one crime is committed every five seconds in the United
States of America. Resulting in seventeen thousand two hundred eight crimes per day. This shocking number evidently demonstrates that on
average too many crimes are committed everyday, and while this data is a reliable source that can be relied on to give people an idea of how many
crimes are committed everyday on average; it fails in informing us on the reasons or in what situation the criminals were in to have to be in a position
to break the law. Many criminals are thought to be bad people who do things just because they are bad, but many times not being a criminal for many
people is inevitable.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that people who have necessities in life have no choice than to do anything to no longer have those necessities. Many people grow up not
having anything going towards their way say they end up getting involved in gangs, and doing bad things breaking the law everyday. But what
happens when you are the head of the family and you're not putting food on the table and the only way out of that is by selling drugs? Everyone
generally assumes that people in jail, or prison had something to do with drugs. I'm not saying that everyone is in a correctional facility because of
drugs, but a big percentage of the people in jail in ghetto places are because of drugs, and why is that? Because drugs are the easiest way of getting out
of being poor, or at least that what people who sell them think. When a teenager is arrested because of possession of drugs in a ghetto town, it's not
very alarming because we all expect that to happen, but what happens when a middle age white man who has never had any problems with the law
is arrested for the same reason? That's when we start asking questions and learn the truth of why people act in such ways. The person known as the
head of the family is usually always thought to be the leader of the family. The leader of the family has responsibilities, and one of them is to provide
for the family, and to protect them. Many family leaders have always been very

Sleep Dealer The Father Thing Analysis
Science fiction has contributed to shaping us as a society in lots of different ways. I believe that it has supplied ideas of technology such as:
iPhones, laptops, tablets, etc. Somewhere an author is writing about something that we think would be impossible to create, but will most likely
become a reality someday. There are devices now for things as simple as reading a book. Yes, some aspects of these ideas are much easier than carrying
around your books, however, what does this mean for paper books, and book stores? The idea of an object doing something to make life easier for us,
is more than appealing to people. It is our instinct to want to get things done–and get them done quickly. There are the select few people that stick to
the traditional way of doing things, but it's rare for you to find someone who completely lives by this. It is easy for people to make distinctions
between robots and humans when they're asked, but when the actual thing is standing in front of you it won't be as easy. Is there really as much of a
difference between us as we think there is? There are devices for almost anything that you're going to do. When you go running you can bring your
phone that will easily track your distance, and some can even tell you how much weight you've lost. In the movie Sleep ... Show more content on

It was strange to me that it was so easy for his father's body to be taken captive, and how similarly the other thing was acting to his father. His son
noticed the difference, but there's a large chance that nobody else would. If you were to go out and tell somebody that your father had been replaced,
you would be called crazy. This is something that came up again in Project Kara. Once the robot started to show emotion, there was little to no
difference between her and a real girl. When you're asked if you can tell the difference between a human and a robot, you're prone to say that yes, of
course you could. But could you

PESTEL Analysis : The Pest Analysis Of Home Depot
As we now move on to the PESTEL analysis, it is important to discuss its importance. The purpose of the PESTEL analysis is to evaluate the
environment in which the Home Depot operates. We analyse the political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and the legal environments
so that we can better understand how the surrounding environment will impact the business of the Home Depot and how they will need to adapt.
Political
Donald Trump who was elected on January 20th 2017, is not a fan of NAFTA and would like to make it more difficult to trade between North
American countries and increase taxes on trade (Trump, 2017). This will make it more difficult for Home Depot to expand its business in Canada.
Causing an economic plateau. Another problem that is easily seen is the fact that the government spending is unpredictable. With this fact taken in, the
government contractors are one of the main target markets of Home Depot. This may cause Home Depot's earnings to be inconsistent. Having an
inconsistent market could cause a lot of stress for Home Depot to have very erratic CPI and could confuse or mislead many potential consumers.
Economic
A main source of competition for Home Depot would be the fact that some of its rivals have an extensive foot in the door in other countries. Lowe's
has many locations in Canada, Mexico, and the US. This could cause a lot of conflict as Lowe's could steal a lot of Home Depot's potential consumers,
as it is a very available and widely

Speech On Teenagers
Taking the mask off: It's time to stop being someone we aren't
In today's day and age, there's a common problem that each teenger inevitably faces along the way through adolescence. We try to find out who we
are and what we want to become, but this is becoming ever more difficult. Nowadays in the age of technology, we have thousands of people around
that rub off on us one way or the other. We have all of these influences around us, most of whom are either non–beneficial or unattainable. These, along
with the ever–present peer pressure, make us become someone that's far away from who we really are, something that we should attempt to move on
from. It seems like today the overwhelming question for teenagers is should they put on a fake persona for the sake of being accepted or live every day
unfiltered at the risk of being scrutinized?
When we step outside the friendly confines of our home, we prepare a face to show to the rest of the world, one that shows we are living a great
life and having everything going right for us. We are expected to always put on a persona and show that our lives our great. On social media, we all
post pictures of us in our best moments; We show when we're on vacation, when we're at a bonfire with friends, or when we're sitting in the suite
level at a sporting event. However, we never show the negatives; the times when we get a bad grade, a family member is sick, or an argument
between you and a friend. I know I do the same things

The Old Man And The Sea
Both The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway and "To Build a Fire" by Jack London both explore the literary conflict of man verses nature.
Both main characters share many similarities; however, they also have various differences that set them apart as well. In The Old Man and the Sea
the story is about Santiago, an old fisherman who sets out one day and catches the fish of a lifetime. Santiago then spends multiple days fighting the
fish in the middle of the ocean. "To Build a Fire" is about a nameless traveler who goes hiking on a trail out in the Yukon with his dog to make it to his
base camp. He hikes in fifty below weather and have literally walked on thin ice to make it to his destination safely. Despite being from different stories
in different settings, both men share similarities while they also share many differences that ultimately caused the men to suffer different fates.
Santiago and the traveler share many similarities in their character and the positions they are placed in their respective stories. Santiago is alone
when he is out on his skiff for several days. While he is alone, he is forced to talk to himself, the birds, and the fish, he expresses in innermost
thoughts and it lets the reader understand his process of securing his catch. Santiago, the old man as the book calls him, is well into life. In his age
Santiago has a lot of experience and was even born to fish he uses his knowledge to handle the situation at hand in a calm orderly manner. After

Family In Frankenstein
The story of Frankenstein is one that focuses mainly on the idea of losing touch with the reality of what is family and love whilst in the pursuit of
knowledge. This can initially be experienced in the beginning of the novel in the letters Walton sends to his sister Margaret Saville. In this case,
Walton, in search of a passage to the pacific, risks his life without much regard for how his sister may feel. During his voyage Walton eventually gets
into a situation, being trapped by the ice, that jeopardizes not only his main objective to find the passage, but the relationships he has at home,
specifically his sister. Much like Walton, Victor comes upon a fascination of his own, the natural world. This fascination, rather an obsession, is the

There is however another way to approach the issue and that is placing the responsibility of coping with his difference on the monster. Even
though, some may say he did not know any better it is very easy to argue the abandoned child perspective as I have done hitherto. In "Teaching the
Monster," it is said that sympathizing with monster is a simple way of looking at the story and may result in lack of analysis on behalf of the reader
or writer. This is fairly accurate as it allows the reader or writer to come up with fairly simple explanations for why the story played out the way it

Personal Narrative-Kema's Alriht Universe
Kema sat at her cubicle and tuned into her station and went to work recording all of Willow's thoughts. Some didn't make much sense or were
complete but she enjoyed her job unlike many of her other fellow spirits. Most thought the afterlife was supposed to be a time to relax and enjoy
themselves. They often complained about "this isn't what I signed up for." Kema was new to the Universe Call Center and Willow was only her second
human. Her first " Aunt Mag" as she fondly called her had passed away at 92. Kema wanted a new assignment and the spirit who listened to and

The Value of Taking Risks and Making Mistakes
"A life spent in making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent in doing nothing," wrote George Bernard Shaw. This is
true, one can not truly live life to the fullest and experience all of the things that make life beautiful if they are not willing to put themselves out there
and risk being cut open.
Mistakes are simply learning tools, a means of giving us higher aspirations. They are underappreciated and should be embraced rather than shunned.
Without mistakes, life would be boring, then where would we be?
As small children we are naturally very accident prone creatures. Everything is new and shiny and somehow we are attracted to all of the things that
are potentially harmful. Our minds are designed to want what we shouldn't and to not do as we are told. From a psychological standpoint, the blisters
that form on the burned toddler's hand are a negative reinforcement. Once the child has experienced the pain firsthand, it will associate the heat of the
stovetop or the oven with pain. After the association has been made, the child will not want to make that particular mistake again. That's all
psychobabble though. With every scrape, burn, and scar, one's childhood becomes a long string of memories and stories that are bound to be retold as
a learning tool for the next generation or just to look back on and be able laugh at the naivety that the most important

Impact Of The Six Persuasions On The 21st Century Global...
1. Introduction According to Robert Beno Cialdini there are six basic fundamental psychological principles which affects our behaviour and help
others to have influence on us. They are also known as the six weapons of influence: reciprocity, commitment and consistency, social proof,
authority, liking, scarcity. This research is going to focus on the impact of the six persuasions on the 21st century global economy and business
relationships. Examples from business will be used to support the views. Good reputation is company's most precious asset, in order to keep the good
name there should be a specific organizational structure depending on its goals. Every organization has a leader and his job is to monitor the
employees. "Power and influence make up the fine texture of organizations, and indeed of all interactions. Influence is the process whereby A modifies
the attitudes or behaviour of B. Power is that which enables him to do it." (Handy C. B., Understanding Organizations, 4th ed.1993, pages 118–119),
which is Ciadini's fourth principle – authority. In business very often scarcity is used by the authority to perceive people to do what they want by
setting deadlines for example. It is known that when an individual has to finish its work by a particular date it is more productive and concentrated. On
the other hand very often employers are using pep talk to motivate their employees in order to increase their commitment and consistency in achieving
their goal. By using

By this I mean that at the beginning, much like Walton and Victor, the monster had high hopes of finding what he truly desired and later found that it
was much harder achieved and that things would not work out quite as planned. This is intriguing because it seems to be one of the central points of
the story, which is that in search of something we truly desire, whether it be adventurous, scientific, or emotional in nature, can be detrimental to the
relationship of family even if it is a family you are looking for. For example, in the case of the monster, the way in which he reacted in hopes of
potentially getting Victor to create him a mate led Victor to believe that it would be trouble to create a partner for him. This, in a sense, is what took
away the possibility of the monster ever finding either another creation or human being to

Medicine : You Downed The Shot
Medicine –– Daughter
You downed the shot. And another. And another. The alcohol left a burning trail down your throat, and turned your breath to fire. It had started to make
you feel light headed. You look around the empty apartment and run a hand through your messy hair, listening to the sounds of the traffic so many
floors beneath you. Another tear rolled down your face as you refilled the glass with the whiskey that had been keeping you company. The only
company you had now.
Everything had gone so wrong too quickly, and you couldn't remember the last time you'd been happy. But it was all your fault. You knew that.
You stood up abruptly, sloshing liquor out of the glass you were still holding. What a waste. You finish the shot in a quick gulp and grab the rest of
the bottle by the neck to take two short swigs. Your face contorts with the SHARP taste, but finally start to feel some of the effects. Goodpain medicine.
When you finally got tired of standing still, listening to cars and horns below, you took a wobbly step. Good pain medicine, not to good coordination
medicine. But you didn't need coordination then. You needed another nip. You walked in a wobbly light out of the apartment's kitchen and through the
living room to the hallway. On the left was your old bedroom with the desk that had someone else's computer and psychology books on it, and the bed
that you used to share. Now the only things on the desk were divorce papers, and the only things on the bed were

Conflict In Stephen King's 'The Monkey Paw'
How can people best respond to conflicts is a question commonly asked by people going through a difficult situation without any knowledge of
how to respond properly to a certain conflict. The reality is: there is no solid answer to this question. It all depends on what your conflict is, and of
course in what position you are. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a conflict is an active disagreement, as between opposing opinions or
needs[1], and according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary the definition of conflict is: a struggle for power[2] , so without a doubt, what people
want as a result in a conflict is to have power over the problem, to have control. To be able to have control over a situation, first you need to have
control over yourself. We can use as an example Stephen KingВґs novel Cujo written in 1981. In the book, Donna TrentonВґs four year–old son dies
and the reason for that is because Donna wasnВґt able to grasp control of the situation. Her desperation didnВґt allow her to think clearly and she never

"LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP IS MANAGEABLE!" A very good (morning) to the lecturer in charge, Mr/Mrs/Ms_____________ and the

relationship can be defined as having a constant connection with a person be it family members, friends or acquaintances. However, the relationship
I'm discussing about today is on the relationship between different sex, what we called as boy–girl relationship. This particular relationship can be

couples as they do not see each other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many a times one of us would compare our partner to another person which will indirectly hurt them and also ruin this relationship. Each relationship is
God– given and everyone is different. No two man or even twins can have the same character. It is the mutual understanding and constant
perseverance that brings out the best in a couple. A couple can have many flaws but still maintain a great relationship that envies others. From a
religious point of view, constantly pray for your relationship helps a lot as both has a same goal, which is to have a sweet relationship.
Nevertheless, you must also be ready to work hard for your long distance relationship because it brings a whole lot of challenges while moving along
the way. Arguments and disagreements or even desperately hoping for the presence of your partner are some challenges you will face. However, all
these could be overcome by love, faith and mutual trust. Your relationship is special, never compare it to others! Not many couples can undergo the

Comparison Of Neat People : The Advants Of Sloppy People
The first words I can remember sticking with me from my Momma Jaime's mouth was that cleanliness is close to Godliness. Noticeably, this must
mean that Momma Jaime is hand and hand with God himself. Neat people should be viewed more superior than sloppy people; because, neat people
are much more strategized, systematized, and Prepared for anything to come their way.
Any neat person knows that the easiest way to stay strategized in your life is a calendar.
A quick way to know if anyone is a neat person is to check for an itinerary, journal, planner or calendar. It won't be too hard to find typically they
will pull it out every time they hear something important, or need to write a quick note for later when they inscribe their whole next day before bed.
In addition to that, they precisely go over their whole day while falling asleep to make sure everything is perfectly set for the next day. Every day in a
neat person's life they have a firm plan that they stick to from when they wake up in the morning to when they fall asleep at night. Unlike neat people,
sloppy people tend to 'flow with the day' as Mrs. Susanne Britt says in The Morton Mix, "Sloppy people live in Never–Never Land." This means
sloppy people tend to run late and not know what short–term goals they are supposed to be conquering for the day. They wake up and fall asleep
differently everyday an example of this is how they might shower in the morning instead of at night because they are 'too tired' from running around
all day wondering what they are supposed to be doing. Conversely, while the sloppy person is throwing clean and unfolded clothes on the ground to
fall asleep on their bed the neat person is showered in bed and maybe eating a non–crumbly snack before nine p.m.
When it comes to systems neat people hit it out of the park every time. Work, at work everything on a neat person's desk is methodically placed and
in each drawer, there are tabs and folders placed in ABC order. Moreover, every paper is placed by importance, date, and header. Continuing with how
they have every project in on time and sometimes ahead of time. Whereas the neat person is arriving to work 10 minutes late because they couldn't

Technology And Technology : The Use Of Technology In Business
In today's challenging economic times, the competition for business has never been more fierce. It is imperative that organizations not only provide a
good product, but also provide that product at a good price along with good customer service, all while keeping their product relevant and their staff

Perhaps the easiest way for business professionals to be aware of changing technology and ways to integrate it into their own personal business is to

people with credibility. Especially with the internet today, information can reach people as the event is happening, making new ideas and technology
more available than they have ever been in history. Business magazines also have the same effect, reaching their viewers quickly and cost–effectively.
These articles, either online or in print form, are by far the most available option

Descriptive Essay : ' Thunder '
As they crested the rise, Riasean and Larah looked out at Cazidor. In front of them, to the West, lay undulating plains, ending in the rocky boundary
of the Allurian Sea, where it pounded the shores of the long narrow kingdom. The road they were on plunged down the slopes and turned north into a
copse of trees before reappearing again, just outside a small village astride the road. To their far right, they could see the spires of Wolfbern rising
toward the sky. The rumble of thunder echoed behind them, and they turned to look. Small rocks careened from the hillsides.
"What is happening?" Larah asked.
"Thunder but no sign of clouds? Strange. We had better get to the main road before we find out what it is."
Larah nodded in agreement, and they spurred their horses toward the village. But by the time they blended in with the few travelers on the road, the
disturbance in the pass had disappeared.
To avoid being overheard by others riding close by, Larah spoke in low tones to Riasean. "What do you know about getting to the Valley of Eternal
Darkness?"
"The valley is accessible through the New Moon Gate in the Black Tower of the Citadel. But getting to the gate and using it will be difficult. The
Oligarchs of the Citadel keep tight control over access. They have enchanted the entrance so that you must have a 'Moonstone' to pass through it.
In ages past, one could get these 'Moonstones' readily from Citadel's Gatekeeper, navigate the pass, and take the high road to the lands

Cisco Case Study Essay
CASE QUESTIONS В– CISCO 1a. How did Cisco find itself in trouble with regard to its intended IT prior to Brad Boston's arrival? Prior to his
arrival, CISCO had a decentralized approach to IT spending. Independent business groups were making decisions in fuctional silos. Each group
their own funds for IT, therefore, redundant applications such as CRM systems were created. This was a global issue as well as a localized issue.
The Cisco philosophy regarding IT was simple: As long as someone was willing to pay for it, the IT department would work on whatever process

need for them to communicate with other departments in order to achieve similar objectives and goals. 2a. What is BPOC's role? The BPOC's role

Scrivener Day Bartleby Discussion Questions
Bartleby, the Scrivener Day 1
1.
The lawyer is a smart and observant man that runs a small law practice with four employees. He seems oddly obsessed with one of his former
employees though. This infatuation with Bartleby has caused him to write an entire short story about him.
2.
The lawyer is considered by others as "an eminently safe man" because his job, lifestyle, and demeanor are not flashy or risky at all. For example, his
job as a lawyer is to work with bonds and mortgages not on high profile murders.
3.
The lawyer's "profound conviction" that the easiest way in life is the best way shows the reader that he is not very motivated, is probably content
with stay where he is at in his career, and is lazy.
4.

The lawyer's office and general surroundings are presumably in an office building which is in a city. Inside his office there are two sides one with
Turkey and Nippers. The other side has the lawyer and Bartleby who are separated by a screen. In this story, the setting is important because Bartleby
in particular and the other people in the office as well are trapped in by other buildings and screens.
12
As presented, Bartleby is a quiet, hard working, pale man that rarely leaves the office during work hours.
13
The work quarters Bartleby has been given are very cramped and claustrophobic. For example, out of all the widows near Bartleby's desk the only
thing visible is bricks from the other buildings and right behind him is a screen separating his office with his boss's office.
14
As a new hire, Bartleby is very diligent and effective in his work. The lawyer is surprised by how well his new hire is doing so soon. The lawyer even
described Bartleby as parched for copy work.
15
The lawyer's initial impression of Bartleby was very positive. His impression was so positive that he put Bartleby's desk closest to his own desk so
that he could do his more important and urgent tasks.

I regarded Bartleby's response to the lawyer when asked to proofread documents as being as respectful as possible so that he wouldn't upset the

Competitive Sports Persuasive Essay
While many people believe that competitive sports should be banned from schools and from kids in general, my belief is that they have a largely
outweighing positive impact. There are a few reasons that I believe so, the first of which is that they help unfit and obese children to begin living a
healthy lifestyle, and also motivates them to do so. Another reason I think competitive sports should be allowed among kids is that they make you
more confident and highers your self–esteem. Thirdly, I believe so because with all of the work that the kids are doing at school, they need some way
of having fun with their friends, and in my opinion, one of the best ways to do that is by playing a competitive sport. Competitive sports should be
available to children to play.
Today, over 17% of American children are obese, and when competitive sports come into play, children start getting motivated to lose weight and eat
healthier, especially when their friends are participating in the sport with them. However, a lot of the time, children that aren't highly skilled get

The Limits Of Friendship By Maria Konnikova
In "The Limits of Friendship" by Maria Konnikova, social media has significantly changed the way we interact with friends and family. Everybody
thinks that using social media is the best way to talk to friends and family, however, in my opinion, they are wrong because it doesn't give you the
face–to–face connections we need as humans for social interaction. On the other hand, the great thing about using social media is you can connect
with more people, but in a superficial kind of way. Therefore, we do not get the face–to–face interactions with our friends and family. We, the people
that are addicted to social media, learn that without face–to–face conversations we wouldn't have a normal "social" life outside of social media. The

maximum number of people an average person can have in her social group is 150. This number might change because of the way social media has
been growing. We have 150 casual friends, 50 close friends, 15 friends you can turn to for sympathy, and 5 best friends and family. When we use
technology to interact with others, we lose the ability to express the right emotions that you would express in a face–to–face conversation. When you
tell someone how you feel over social media, it is entirely different than how you would tell it to them in person. Emotions that are expressed over
social media, can be taken a completely different way than it would be taken if the conversation was face–to–face. For example, if you were having a
conversation with a close friend, if you said something sarcastic like "You are such a weirdo." That message could mean it is funny to you but it
could be offensive to the person you are texting. In "The Limits of Friendship", Konnikova says "We do have a social–media equivalent–sharing,

Analyble Themes In The Calculus Diaries By Jennifer Ouellette
The author of The Calculus Diaries, Jennifer Ouellette, conveys a story to the reader that calculus isn't as evil as everyone makes it seem, and to
show its uses in everyday life. This happens expertly by using relatable topics such as gambling in Vegas, how to lose weight, and how to survive the
zombie apocalypse. Ouellette makes it a key point that anyone can understand and apply calculus, even those who dread even hearing the term. In
addition, since every chapter has a new topic the characters around her vary, but she remains the narrator of the story. One explanation about why she
does this is because she describes calculus as being on par with a story where the main character and viewpoint can change the entire meaning of the

One weakness this book has though is the fact that it sometimes strayed too far from the main purpose of the book that the reader could become
bored before the author reaches her main point. For example, on many occasions throughout the book Ouellette dives too deep into the history of the
people who came up with theories, hypotheses, or equations and this distracts from the main purpose of the book, which is to make calculus more
engaging for the readers. Finally, this book was enjoyable because it allowed for a better understanding of a complicated topic by using a variety of
interesting examples where calculus is important. Also, since the longer chapters where broken up into smaller sections it was easier to read it faster
and making the book more pleasurable. I would recommend this book highly to other students who want to go into a career that will deal with a
bunch of calculus because it intelligently shows you the basic concepts, but in an easy to understand way. This book challenges the reader to take a
step back and look at the more interesting side of calculus to gain a more solid understanding. For the mechanical engineering major, one must complete
Calculus I, II, and III, so having a strong foundation of knowledge makes these easier in the long run. Also, the test this book puts on its readers is to
make calculus more fun, which makes me more inclined to join clubs and organizations on campus that use calculus because that is the easiest way to

Technology Is Helping Or Hindering People 's Intelligence
There is a conspiracy as to whether or not our generation is the dumbest or not. Many are questioning if the science of technology is helping or

kids and teens of our generation are continuing to excel in the advancement of technology, improving our society, therefore making us not the dumbest

he can make a lot of money from him by producing and selling meth, his security comes first. In that moment, he does not care about how much

Ego Prohibits Self-Awareness In Annie Baker's Body Awareness
Ego prohibits self–awareness. In the world today many people are nervous of not fitting in with society so they create a big ego to hide behind their
flaws. This kind of growth is evident in Annie Baker's first play "Body Awareness" by one of the main characters, Jared. Jared is a twenty
–one year
old, slightly autistic boy who still lives with his gay parents, Joyce and Phyllis. Joyce and Phyllis have been telling Jared he has Aspergers ever
since he was five years old. Throughout the play Jared shows many signs of Aspergers, but he will not admit it to himself or allow his parents
accusations to be correct. Though Jared is conscious of these signs, he is constantly coming up with excuses in order to seem perfect for he believes
this will make his parents happy. In the dramatic comedy Body Awareness written by Annie Baker, the author displays that self
–confidence prevents
one's self consciousness. Ego can prohibit the idea of one's true–self. All Joyce, Jared's mother wants is for Jared to be like any normal kid, but he is
not. This upsets her, and she constantly tries to bring up the fact that he may have Asperger's and proceeds to explain why. Jared and Joyce, are
having a civilized conversation while cooking dinner when Joyce brings up a psychologist and Jared immediately begins to get angry and yells, "I
can tell you with 100 percent certainty that I don't have it... I AM NOT FUCKING RETARDED" (Baker 12). Jared's anger towards Asperger's and his

Today you would be lucky to even know your neighbors names. The term "love thy neighbor as you love yourself" is not really relevant anymore.
Why? You see in today's society we only feel the need to associate ourselves with people that can potentially help us. We are so focused on what we
can get out of people that we no longer value each other.
We have become so self–indulgent that it has this have become the norm, so much that for us we are unaware of when we are doing it. Recently my
Uncle called me and asked me how I was doing, as we further ventured into our conversation, he asked me if I could ask my coach to let him rent
the gym. Although he called me, he really did not want to know how I was he wanted me to do a favor for him. He only asked how I was doing
because it was the "polite" thing to do. Oddly enough you would think that the one group of people who are supposed to honestly care for you
would be your family. Even your family is not exempt from this behavior. They find ways to use you for things rather than to see how you are doing,
and getting to know you. Often times we are victims of this, we do things like this unconsciously, and we use people rather than building a relationship
with them. We neglect what we are actually doing and we continue to operate with selfish motives and are blind to the fact that we are actually doing it.

An entire industry, multiple government organizations and billions of dollars spent to govern, monitor, and enforce safety. With all this oversight, why
does safety fail? Anyone who deals with safety on a day–to–day basis would love to have this question answered. Many people have lost hair, sleep,
patience, and time pondering, "how did this happen?" Most times through the course of research and investigations, the answer is; safety fails when
people routinely deviate from standard without repercussion, supervision is inadequate, or when people begin to rush. Latent failure is the term used to

By not investing the possibilities that they may face nonstandard events in the future, they set themselves and those in their charge up for issues.
Supervisors who are able to look ahead at impending issues will be able to react quicker and have better results. Even worse is the tendency for
reactive supervisors to become over reactive supervisors. Over reaction may come in many forms but all will share one common trend, they will be
detrimental to those they affect. Close–minded supervisors and those that blindly enforce the standard are similar in nature but differ in reason and
drive. Close–mindedness is a product of refusing to see another's point of view where as someone blindly enforcing standards may be doing so with
all the best intentions but may not be aware of the benefits of pushing for a change to the standard. Of all the supervisors for a safety system, the most
burdening is one that only identifies issues and shortcomings but never presents a solution. The impact this style of supervision has on those under it

The Battle Of The Final War
Polis. The name probably didn't have quite the impact as its parent word "metropolis", but the parent word was cumbersome and, as people are wont to
do, prone to shortening. The parent word may have better–conveyed the city's size and scope and industry...or maybe not. Perhaps that was why the
word was changed over time: as the city grew and grew, the word "metropolis" seemed to become more and more inadequate. And "Mega City One"
was just lame. In the aftermath of the Final War (as people called it, when referring to the conflict that gave rise to Polis), things changed. Gradually,
at first, as those leaders that were perceived to have failed were replaced – sometimes violently – by people who genuinely seemed to care about the
population's needs and concerns. The country was slowly transformed, town by ruined town, city by devastated city, state by crippled state. Those
who'd survived were often eager for a leadership that would give them the direction they wanted, that put the people first, that put the needs of
society ahead of the needs of self. It was not socialism, as that was one of the driving forces that had led to the Final War in the first place; nor was it
capitalism, as that had been another driving force of the War– instead, a curious blend of social–conservatism rose to fill the void, and it was embraced
by the survivors. As months became years, and years became decades, things gradually changed. Those who'd begun the revival were elevated to

This is something that is definitely seen in school environments because all people, regardless of social, economical or racial differences are required to

Race, Class, And Identity
I attended the panel on Friday, October 23rd. Discussion at the event centered around race, class, and identity. The introduction mentioned the tragic
event in Charleston and that they decided to do the seminars that weekend in order to talk about these issues now rather than wait for something to
happen like Charleston's incident. The whole purpose of this discussion was to determine how we can start changing how race and class is identified
and judged in our community. One suggested way to start encouraging more acceptance and understanding is through creating spaces for genuine
dialogue. There are facades of these safe spaces; these places are politically correct on the outside, but they contain ill–will on the inside. To fix that,
panel members recommended truly talking and truly listening. Having honest discussions is key to making people more sympathetic to others as well
as important to opening up the floor to differing opinions. To have these discussions, vulnerability must be present; everyone must be willing to step
out of their comfort zones. These talks will help stop the fear and aggression in communities.
While all of that sounds lovely and very productive to shedding light on issues, I'm not sure how that would work well. It's easy for us, at a Christian

The Pros And Cons Of Plagiarism
In a world surrounded by phones, computers, and other technological devices, information is always just a click away. School work has become
more clicking and typing, and less reading and writing. When kids get an assignment to read a book and do a book report on it, laziness kicks in,
and they go to the internet to look up a summary. Then what they do is copy and paste other people's writings into their paper. What a majority of
kids do not know is that this is considered plagiarism and it is illegal. Plagiarism is something that is very common in today's world and although it is
common and a great deal of people do it, it is still illegal and wrong
Plagiarism, defined by the Merriam–Webster dictionary is to "commit literary theft" or "to present as new and original an idea or product derived

When selling your property it's sometimes best to remove some of the clutter and excess belongings around the home to make your home look more

People who collect everything:
If your the type of person who holds on to things for sentimental reasons or because you may need an item sometime in the future self–storage is a

about. As a began tutoring, I realized that my demeanor in the writing sessions, should have been the least of my concerns. Most of my students,
engaged in the writing session, felt free to ask questions, or even laughed in the session. I think that was in part to me not taking myself too
seriously in the sessions. I naturally compliment my students, and leave most of my anxieties behind. I encourage my students to not be reserved
or afraid to tell me if they are confused, by being as transparent as possible. This means that during several times in the session I will ask or say,
"Did that make sense," "You look a little confused. Let me explain that in another way," or "I'm sorry if I confused you before." However, I must
admit that it took me some time to accept that I can be transparent in my writing sessions. I was worried about how I should direct the sessions; how
much I should advise them

Last 30 Week Research Paper

  • 1. Last 30 Week Research Paper Over the last 30 days, I was challenged to change one of the behaviors I didn't like about myself. I choose to start saving my money. I will first explain my research I found and then go through my plan to save more. My goal is to have $1,000 saved at the end of the four weeks. Before I started this, I went shopping about three to four times a week. Over the past 30 days I tried to cut down my shopping, and budget myself. I will go through my four weeks, and explain what I did over the past 30 days to keep myself from spending money. "The easiest way to save money rather than spending it is to make sure that that you never get a chance to spend the money in the first place" (Lewis step 1). By this they mean you should have part of your money deposited into a saving account ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On day 1 buy gas, which is about $30. Then on day three I buy myself lunch which is about $10. After day three I have $10 left for food and gas, $50 left for Christmas presents, and $40 left for myself. Day 5 I go get my nails done which is all of my $40, then I buy lunch which is about $10. All the money I have left to spend is on Christmas presents. On day six I buy stuff for my dad's Christmas present which ends up being about $50. I didn't spend any more money on day seven which means I met my budget again that means $10 more for myself next week! At the end of week 3 I have about $1,300 in my savings account. The fourth and final week, I tell myself that I am not going to spend every penny of my budget this week. I go all the way to day four without spending money. On day four I buy my brother's Christmas present (about $50) and lunch (about $15). On day six I go to Target and spend my $50 I am allotted this week for myself. That leaves me with $35 for gas and food. I go the rest of the week without spending any money. I made it the whole week without spending every penny I budgeted, yay! • 2. Bad Role Models Police data published by Daily Mail on the Internet, provides evidence suggesting that one crime is committed every five seconds in the United States of America. Resulting in seventeen thousand two hundred eight crimes per day. This shocking number evidently demonstrates that on average too many crimes are committed everyday, and while this data is a reliable source that can be relied on to give people an idea of how many crimes are committed everyday on average; it fails in informing us on the reasons or in what situation the criminals were in to have to be in a position to break the law. Many criminals are thought to be bad people who do things just because they are bad, but many times not being a criminal for many people is inevitable.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that people who have necessities in life have no choice than to do anything to no longer have those necessities. Many people grow up not having anything going towards their way say they end up getting involved in gangs, and doing bad things breaking the law everyday. But what happens when you are the head of the family and you're not putting food on the table and the only way out of that is by selling drugs? Everyone generally assumes that people in jail, or prison had something to do with drugs. I'm not saying that everyone is in a correctional facility because of drugs, but a big percentage of the people in jail in ghetto places are because of drugs, and why is that? Because drugs are the easiest way of getting out of being poor, or at least that what people who sell them think. When a teenager is arrested because of possession of drugs in a ghetto town, it's not very alarming because we all expect that to happen, but what happens when a middle age white man who has never had any problems with the law is arrested for the same reason? That's when we start asking questions and learn the truth of why people act in such ways. The person known as the head of the family is usually always thought to be the leader of the family. The leader of the family has responsibilities, and one of them is to provide for the family, and to protect them. Many family leaders have always been very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sleep Dealer The Father Thing Analysis Science fiction has contributed to shaping us as a society in lots of different ways. I believe that it has supplied ideas of technology such as: iPhones, laptops, tablets, etc. Somewhere an author is writing about something that we think would be impossible to create, but will most likely become a reality someday. There are devices now for things as simple as reading a book. Yes, some aspects of these ideas are much easier than carrying around your books, however, what does this mean for paper books, and book stores? The idea of an object doing something to make life easier for us, is more than appealing to people. It is our instinct to want to get things done–and get them done quickly. There are the select few people that stick to the traditional way of doing things, but it's rare for you to find someone who completely lives by this. It is easy for people to make distinctions between robots and humans when they're asked, but when the actual thing is standing in front of you it won't be as easy. Is there really as much of a difference between us as we think there is? There are devices for almost anything that you're going to do. When you go running you can bring your phone that will easily track your distance, and some can even tell you how much weight you've lost. In the movie Sleep ... His son noticed the difference, but there's a large chance that nobody else would. If you were to go out and tell somebody that your father had been replaced, you would be called crazy. This is something that came up again in Project Kara. Once the robot started to show emotion, there was little to no difference between her and a real girl. When you're asked if you can tell the difference between a human and a robot, you're prone to say that yes, of course you could. But could you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. PESTEL Analysis : The Pest Analysis Of Home Depot As we now move on to the PESTEL analysis, it is important to discuss its importance. The purpose of the PESTEL analysis is to evaluate the environment in which the Home Depot operates. We analyse the political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and the legal environments so that we can better understand how the surrounding environment will impact the business of the Home Depot and how they will need to adapt. Political Donald Trump who was elected on January 20th 2017, is not a fan of NAFTA and would like to make it more difficult to trade between North American countries and increase taxes on trade (Trump, 2017). This will make it more difficult for Home Depot to expand its business in Canada. Causing an economic plateau. Another problem that is easily seen is the fact that the government spending is unpredictable. With this fact taken in, the government contractors are one of the main target markets of Home Depot. This may cause Home Depot's earnings to be inconsistent. Having an inconsistent market could cause a lot of stress for Home Depot to have very erratic CPI and could confuse or mislead many potential consumers. Economic A main source of competition for Home Depot would be the fact that some of its rivals have an extensive foot in the door in other countries. Lowe's has many locations in Canada, Mexico, and the US. This could cause a lot of conflict as Lowe's could steal a lot of Home Depot's potential consumers, as it is a very available and widely ... • 5. Speech On Teenagers Taking the mask off: It's time to stop being someone we aren't In today's day and age, there's a common problem that each teenger inevitably faces along the way through adolescence. We try to find out who we are and what we want to become, but this is becoming ever more difficult. Nowadays in the age of technology, we have thousands of people around that rub off on us one way or the other. We have all of these influences around us, most of whom are either non–beneficial or unattainable. These, along with the ever–present peer pressure, make us become someone that's far away from who we really are, something that we should attempt to move on from. It seems like today the overwhelming question for teenagers is should they put on a fake persona for the sake of being accepted or live every day unfiltered at the risk of being scrutinized? When we step outside the friendly confines of our home, we prepare a face to show to the rest of the world, one that shows we are living a great life and having everything going right for us. We are expected to always put on a persona and show that our lives our great. On social media, we all post pictures of us in our best moments; We show when we're on vacation, when we're at a bonfire with friends, or when we're sitting in the suite level at a sporting event. However, we never show the negatives; the times when we get a bad grade, a family member is sick, or an argument between you and a friend. I know I do the same things ... • 7. The Old Man And The Sea Both The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway and "To Build a Fire" by Jack London both explore the literary conflict of man verses nature. Both main characters share many similarities; however, they also have various differences that set them apart as well. In The Old Man and the Sea the story is about Santiago, an old fisherman who sets out one day and catches the fish of a lifetime. Santiago then spends multiple days fighting the fish in the middle of the ocean. "To Build a Fire" is about a nameless traveler who goes hiking on a trail out in the Yukon with his dog to make it to his base camp. He hikes in fifty below weather and have literally walked on thin ice to make it to his destination safely. Despite being from different stories in different settings, both men share similarities while they also share many differences that ultimately caused the men to suffer different fates. Santiago and the traveler share many similarities in their character and the positions they are placed in their respective stories. Santiago is alone when he is out on his skiff for several days. While he is alone, he is forced to talk to himself, the birds, and the fish, he expresses in innermost thoughts and it lets the reader understand his process of securing his catch. In this case, Walton, in search of a passage to the pacific, risks his life without much regard for how his sister may feel. During his voyage Walton eventually gets into a situation, being trapped by the ice, that jeopardizes not only his main objective to find the passage, but the relationships he has at home, specifically his sister. • 10. What Is High School Persuasive Essay High School Persuasive Essay Student Sample The Value of Taking Risks and Making Mistakes "A life spent in making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent in doing nothing," wrote George Bernard Shaw. This is true, one can not truly live life to the fullest and experience all of the things that make life beautiful if they are not willing to put themselves out there and risk being cut open. Mistakes are simply learning tools, a means of giving us higher aspirations. They are underappreciated and should be embraced rather than shunned. Without mistakes, life would be boring, then where would we be? As small children we are naturally very accident prone creatures. Everything is new and shiny and somehow we are attracted to all of the things that are potentially harmful. Our minds are designed to want what we shouldn't and to not do as we are told. From a psychological standpoint, the blisters that form on the burned toddler's hand are a negative reinforcement. Once the child has experienced the pain firsthand, it will associate the heat of the stovetop or the oven with pain. After the association has been made, the child will not want to make that particular mistake again. That's all psychobabble though. With every scrape, burn, and scar, one's childhood becomes a long string of memories and stories that are bound to be retold as a learning tool for the next generation or just to look back on and be able laugh at the naivety that the most important ... They are also known as the six weapons of influence: reciprocity, commitment and consistency, social proof, authority, liking, scarcity. This research is going to focus on the impact of the six persuasions on the 21st century global economy and business relationships. Examples from business will be used to support the views. Good reputation is company's most precious asset, in order to keep the good name there should be a specific organizational structure depending on its goals. Every organization has a leader and his job is to monitor the employees. "Power and influence make up the fine texture of organizations, and indeed of all interactions. Influence is the process whereby A modifies the attitudes or behaviour of B. Power is that which enables him to do it." (Handy C. B., Understanding Organizations, 4th ed.1993, pages 118–119), which is Ciadini's fourth principle – authority. In business very often scarcity is used by the authority to perceive people to do what they want by setting deadlines for example. It is known that when an individual has to finish its work by a particular date it is more productive and concentrated. On the other hand very often employers are using pep talk to motivate their employees in order to increase their commitment and consistency in achieving their goal. By using ... • 14. The Theme Of Family In Frankenstein The story of Frankenstein is one that focuses mainly on the idea of losing touch with the reality of what is family and love whilst in the pursuit of knowledge. This can initially be experienced in the beginning of the novel in the letters Walton sends to his sister Margaret Saville. In this case, Walton, in search of a passage to the Pacific, risks his life without much regard for how his sister may feel. During his voyage Walton eventually gets into a situation, being trapped in the ice, that jeopardizes not only his main objective to find the passage, but the relationships he has at home, specifically his sister. Much like Walton, Victor comes upon a fascination of his own, the natural world. This fascination, rather an obsession, is the beginning of the end for Victor as it begins to alienate the character from his loved ones. These types of obsessions can lead someone to lose touch with the importance of family since they no... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By this I mean that at the beginning, much like Walton and Victor, the monster had high hopes of finding what he truly desired and later found that it was much harder achieved and that things would not work out quite as planned. This is intriguing because it seems to be one of the central points of the story, which is that in search of something we truly desire, whether it be adventurous, scientific, or emotional in nature, can be detrimental to the relationship of family even if it is a family you are looking for. For example, in the case of the monster, the way in which he reacted in hopes of potentially getting Victor to create him a mate led Victor to believe that it would be trouble to create a partner for him. This, in a sense, is what took away the possibility of the monster ever finding either another creation or human being to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It had started to make you feel light headed. You look around the empty apartment and run a hand through your messy hair, listening to the sounds of the traffic so many floors beneath you. Another tear rolled down your face as you refilled the glass with the whiskey that had been keeping you company. The only company you had now. Everything had gone so wrong too quickly, and you couldn't remember the last time you'd been happy. But it was all your fault. You knew that. You stood up abruptly, sloshing liquor out of the glass you were still holding. What a waste. You finish the shot in a quick gulp and grab the rest of the bottle by the neck to take two short swigs. Your face contorts with the SHARP taste, but finally start to feel some of the effects. Goodpain medicine. When you finally got tired of standing still, listening to cars and horns below, you took a wobbly step. Good pain medicine, not to good coordination medicine. But you didn't need coordination then. You needed another nip. You walked in a wobbly light out of the apartment's kitchen and through the living room to the hallway. Yesterday was my eleventh birthday and the last spent with my family in my home. I was a live–in servant for the Proctors, Mrs. Proctor was very uneager about me being there, but I think Mr. Proctor has taken quite a liking to me. While I was cleaning up the dishes, I caught Mr. Proctor staring at me. He's quite old, turned sixty not too long ago, but he does seem to be a nice man. The fits and hysteria had all started about a month ago. My friends and I went to the doctor, but they said nothing was wrong. Mr. Proctor has started worrying about his reputation, being one of the employers of the 'afflicted girls'. He thinks that he can beat out the fits that were all troubled with. It scares me. • 17. Conflict In Stephen King's 'The Monkey Paw' How can people best respond to conflicts is a question commonly asked by people going through a difficult situation without any knowledge of how to respond properly to a certain conflict. The reality is: there is no solid answer to this question. It all depends on what your conflict is, and of course in what position you are. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a conflict is an active disagreement, as between opposing opinions or needs[1], and according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary the definition of conflict is: a struggle for power[2] , so without a doubt, what people want as a result in a conflict is to have power over the problem, to have control. To be able to have control over a situation, first you need to have control over yourself. We can use as an example Stephen KingВґs novel Cujo written in 1981. In the book, Donna TrentonВґs four year–old son dies and the reason for that is because Donna wasnВґt able to grasp control of the situation. Her desperation didnВґt allow her to think clearly and she never actually stopped and tried to figure out a solid plan, she just did everything as she went along. On this pleasant day, I stand before you to deliver a speech entitled "Long distance relationship is manageable!". As we all know, a relationship can be defined as having a constant connection with a person be it family members, friends or acquaintances. However, the relationship I'm discussing about today is on the relationship between different sex, what we called as boy–girl relationship. A couple can have many flaws but still maintain a great relationship that envies others. From a religious point of view, constantly pray for your relationship helps a lot as both has a same goal, which is to have a sweet relationship. Nevertheless, you must also be ready to work hard for your long distance relationship because it brings a whole lot of challenges while moving along the way. Arguments and disagreements or even desperately hoping for the presence of your partner are some challenges you will face. However, all these could be overcome by love, faith and mutual trust. • 19. Comparison Of Neat People : The Advants Of Sloppy People The first words I can remember sticking with me from my Momma Jaime's mouth was that cleanliness is close to Godliness. Noticeably, this must mean that Momma Jaime is hand and hand with God himself. Neat people should be viewed more superior than sloppy people; because, neat people are much more strategized, systematized, and Prepared for anything to come their way. Any neat person knows that the easiest way to stay strategized in your life is a calendar. A quick way to know if anyone is a neat person is to check for an itinerary, journal, planner or calendar. It won't be too hard to find typically they will pull it out every time they hear something important, or need to write a quick note for later when they inscribe their whole next day before bed. In addition to that, they precisely go over their whole day while falling asleep to make sure everything is perfectly set for the next day. Every day in a neat person's life they have a firm plan that they stick to from when they wake up in the morning to when they fall asleep at night. Unlike neat people, sloppy people tend to 'flow with the day' as Mrs. Susanne Britt says in The Morton Mix, "Sloppy people live in Never–Never Land." This means sloppy people tend to run late and not know what short–term goals they are supposed to be conquering for the day. They wake up and fall asleep differently everyday an example of this is how they might shower in the morning instead of at night because they are 'too tired' from running around all day wondering what they are supposed to be doing. Conversely, while the sloppy person is throwing clean and unfolded clothes on the ground to fall asleep on their bed the neat person is showered in bed and maybe eating a non–crumbly snack before nine p.m. When it comes to systems neat people hit it out of the park every time. Work, at work everything on a neat person's desk is methodically placed and in each drawer, there are tabs and folders placed in ABC order. Moreover, every paper is placed by importance, date, and header. Continuing with how they have every project in on time and sometimes ahead of time. In front of them, to the West, lay undulating plains, ending in the rocky boundary of the Allurian Sea, where it pounded the shores of the long narrow kingdom. The road they were on plunged down the slopes and turned north into a copse of trees before reappearing again, just outside a small village astride the road. Competitive Sports Persuasive Essay While many people believe that competitive sports should be banned from schools and from kids in general, my belief is that they have a largely outweighing positive impact. There are a few reasons that I believe so, the first of which is that they help unfit and obese children to begin living a healthy lifestyle, and also motivates them to do so. Another reason I think competitive sports should be allowed among kids is that they make you more confident and highers your self–esteem. Thirdly, I believe so because with all of the work that the kids are doing at school, they need some way of having fun with their friends, and in my opinion, one of the best ways to do that is by playing a competitive sport. Competitive sports should be available to children to play. Today, over 17% of American children are obese, and when competitive sports come into play, children start getting motivated to lose weight and eat healthier, especially when their friends are participating in the sport with them. Everybody thinks that using social media is the best way to talk to friends and family, however, in my opinion, they are wrong because it doesn't give you the face–to–face connections we need as humans for social interaction. On the other hand, the great thing about using social media is you can connect with more people, but in a superficial kind of way. Therefore, we do not get the face–to–face interactions with our friends and family. Analyble Themes In The Calculus Diaries By Jennifer Ouellette The author of The Calculus Diaries, Jennifer Ouellette, conveys a story to the reader that calculus isn't as evil as everyone makes it seem, and to show its uses in everyday life. This happens expertly by using relatable topics such as gambling in Vegas, how to lose weight, and how to survive the zombie apocalypse. Ouellette makes it a key point that anyone can understand and apply calculus, even those who dread even hearing the term. In addition, since every chapter has a new topic the characters around her vary, but she remains the narrator of the story. One explanation about why she does this is because she describes calculus as being on par with a story where the main character and viewpoint can change the entire meaning of the story.... One weakness this book has though is the fact that it sometimes strayed too far from the main purpose of the book that the reader could become bored before the author reaches her main point. For example, on many occasions throughout the book Ouellette dives too deep into the history of the people who came up with theories, hypotheses, or equations and this distracts from the main purpose of the book, which is to make calculus more engaging for the readers. Finally, this book was enjoyable because it allowed for a better understanding of a complicated topic by using a variety of interesting examples where calculus is important. Also, since the longer chapters where broken up into smaller sections it was easier to read it faster and making the book more pleasurable. I would recommend this book highly to other students who want to go into a career that will deal with a bunch of calculus because it intelligently shows you the basic concepts, but in an easy to understand way. In the world today many people are nervous of not fitting in with society so they create a big ego to hide behind their flaws. This kind of growth is evident in Annie Baker's first play "Body Awareness" by one of the main characters, Jared. Jared is a twenty –one year old, slightly autistic boy who still lives with his gay parents, Joyce and Phyllis. Joyce and Phyllis have been telling Jared he has Aspergers ever since he was five years old. Throughout the play Jared shows many signs of Aspergers, but he will not admit it to himself or allow his parents accusations to be correct. Though Jared is conscious of these signs, he is constantly coming up with excuses in order to seem perfect for he believes this will make his parents happy. In the dramatic comedy Body Awareness written by Annie Baker, the author displays that self –confidence prevents one's self consciousness. Ego can prohibit the idea of one's true–self. We have become so self–indulgent that it has this have become the norm, so much that for us we are unaware of when we are doing it. Recently my Uncle called me and asked me how I was doing, as we further ventured into our conversation, he asked me if I could ask my coach to let him rent the gym. Although he called me, he really did not want to know how I was he wanted me to do a favor for him. He only asked how I was doing because it was the "polite" thing to do. Oddly enough you would think that the one group of people who are supposed to honestly care for you would be your family. Even your family is not exempt from this behavior. They find ways to use you for things rather than to see how you are doing, and getting to know you. Often times we are victims of this, we do things like this unconsciously, and we use people rather than building a relationship with them. We neglect what we are actually doing and we continue to operate with selfish motives and are blind to the fact that we are actually doing it. We have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Reactive Supervisors Essay An entire industry, multiple government organizations and billions of dollars spent to govern, monitor, and enforce safety. With all this oversight, why does safety fail? Anyone who deals with safety on a day–to–day basis would love to have this question answered. Many people have lost hair, sleep, patience, and time pondering, "how did this happen?" Most times through the course of research and investigations, the answer is; safety fails when people routinely deviate from standard without repercussion, supervision is inadequate, or when people begin to rush. Latent failure is the term used to identify an error in the safety system that lays dormant for a period. Latent failures by themselves seldom cause an accident but rather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By not investing the possibilities that they may face nonstandard events in the future, they set themselves and those in their charge up for issues. Supervisors who are able to look ahead at impending issues will be able to react quicker and have better results. Even worse is the tendency for reactive supervisors to become over reactive supervisors. Over reaction may come in many forms but all will share one common trend, they will be detrimental to those they affect. Close–minded supervisors and those that blindly enforce the standard are similar in nature but differ in reason and drive. Close–mindedness is a product of refusing to see another's point of view where as someone blindly enforcing standards may be doing so with all the best intentions but may not be aware of the benefits of pushing for a change to the standard. Of all the supervisors for a safety system, the most burdening is one that only identifies issues and shortcomings but never presents a solution. The impact this style of supervision has on those under it cannot be understated it is morally exhausting. Workers who constantly have to wade through issue after issue with an apparent abandonment from the supervisors that never produce a solution will begin to get sloppy, apathetic, and rush just to be done with ... • 34. The Battle Of The Final War Polis. The name probably didn't have quite the impact as its parent word "metropolis", but the parent word was cumbersome and, as people are wont to do, prone to shortening. The parent word may have better–conveyed the city's size and scope and industry...or maybe not. Perhaps that was why the word was changed over time: as the city grew and grew, the word "metropolis" seemed to become more and more inadequate. And "Mega City One" was just lame. In the aftermath of the Final War (as people called it, when referring to the conflict that gave rise to Polis), things changed. Gradually, at first, as those leaders that were perceived to have failed were replaced – sometimes violently – by people who genuinely seemed to care about the population's needs and concerns. The country was slowly transformed, town by ruined town, city by devastated city, state by crippled state. Those who'd survived were often eager for a leadership that would give them the direction they wanted, that put the people first, that put the needs of society ahead of the needs of self. It was not socialism, as that was one of the driving forces that had led to the Final War in the first place; nor was it capitalism, as that had been another driving force of the War– instead, a curious blend of social–conservatism rose to fill the void, and it was embraced by the survivors. As months became years, and years became decades, things gradually changed. Those who'd begun the revival were elevated to positions of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Identity Of Identity : Who Am I? Throughout my life, I have been greatly influenced by many different sources such as my friends, family, and school. These social groups have shaped who I am today through the values and beliefs they have introduced to me. As Tatum says in The complexity of Identity: Who am I? "The concept of identity is a complex one, shaped by individual characteristics, family dynamics, historical factors, and social and political contexts." (Tatum, 2000) From day one, my family has been there to teach me to be full of love, kindness, and acceptance. The way I was raised prepared me to be able to create and develop long lasting relationships with people such as my peers or my teachers. I grew up in the town of Anacortes, Washington, which is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I grew up in a household full of compassion and big hearts, and I feel that this was extremely helpful in preparing me for life, and specifically teaching. I can use the values and beliefs I have learned from my influences in mentoring because I can come into the classroom with an open mind and the compassion to work with each and every student. No matter where you are, there will always be dominant and minoritized groups of people. This is something that is definitely seen in school environments because all people, regardless of social, economical or racial differences are required to participate in the same schooling throughout their lives. Throughout my mentoring experience, I have gained much insight into who each child is in my site placement class, and what social groups they belong to. This can be discovered in many ways, but I think the easiest way is to simply engage in conversation with the child. Although it may take time to get through to the students and get them to open up to you, it can be done through taking the time out to have meaningful conversations with them. This can be done through thoughtful and responsive listening. Engaging in what the student is saying and replying with concern or care will show each student that you are there for them, and willing to listen. As Mitchell says in Fostering Initiative in Children and Teens, "Be a helpful guide as children identify challenges, reflect on their choices, arrive at decisions, adjust ... • 36. Race, Class, And Identity I attended the panel on Friday, October 23rd. Discussion at the event centered around race, class, and identity. The introduction mentioned the tragic event in Charleston and that they decided to do the seminars that weekend in order to talk about these issues now rather than wait for something to happen like Charleston's incident. The whole purpose of this discussion was to determine how we can start changing how race and class is identified and judged in our community. One suggested way to start encouraging more acceptance and understanding is through creating spaces for genuine dialogue. There are facades of these safe spaces; these places are politically correct on the outside, but they contain ill–will on the inside. To fix that, panel members recommended truly talking and truly listening. Having honest discussions is key to making people more sympathetic to others as well as important to opening up the floor to differing opinions. To have these discussions, vulnerability must be present; everyone must be willing to step out of their comfort zones. These talks will help stop the fear and aggression in communities. While all of that sounds lovely and very productive to shedding light on issues, I'm not sure how that would work well. It's easy for us, at a Christian university with a very privileged majority, to openly talk about our opinions and struggles. Spreading out into a community and trying to get honest thoughts on any issue is like pulling teeth. Even if we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Pros And Cons Of Plagiarism In a world surrounded by phones, computers, and other technological devices, information is always just a click away. School work has become more clicking and typing, and less reading and writing. When kids get an assignment to read a book and do a book report on it, laziness kicks in, and they go to the internet to look up a summary. Then what they do is copy and paste other people's writings into their paper. What a majority of kids do not know is that this is considered plagiarism and it is illegal. What this means in simpler words is that plagiarism stealing someone else's words or ideas and using them as if they were your own. It is considered plagiarism even if you forget to put quotation marks around the information you are using. While reading the article ВЁWhat is Plagiarism?ВЁ the reader learns that although it may not seem like a big deal to copy what someone else said online or in a book, it is actually breaking the U.S. law. For example, if a music composer wanted to write a new piece of music they would research and spend time trying to think about what their piece is going to consist of. • 40. My First Week Of Self Led Tutoring Sessions Essay Going into my first week of self–led tutoring sessions, I was extremely anxious due to the high expectations I placed on myself. I wanted to be able to every rule regarding grammar, confident as recognizing errors concerning a poorly organized essay or weak thesis. In addition to these expectations, I was also worried that I would come off as demeaning to the student or incapable of explain why the student made an error. I wanted to establish my authority, while also ensuring that all of my students felt like they learned something new or got clarity on something they were confused about. As a began tutoring, I realized that my demeanor in the writing sessions, should have been the least of my concerns. Most of my students, engaged in the writing session, felt free to ask questions, or even laughed in the session. I think that was in part to me not taking myself too seriously in the sessions. I naturally compliment my students, and leave most of my anxieties behind. I encourage my students to not be reserved or afraid to tell me if they are confused, by being as transparent as possible. This means that during several times in the session I will ask or say, "Did that make sense," "You look a little confused. Let me explain that in another way," or "I'm sorry if I confused you before." However, I must admit that it took me some time to accept that I can be transparent in my writing sessions. I was worried about how I should direct the sessions; how much I should advise them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
