Up to us to find compelling architectural arguments to double sales
Let’s have a closer look at SAP Fiori
So I've talked a little bit about the workspace. And it certainly has been a banner year for the workspace and the workspace business. You know, but there are some myths that also exist about workspace.
You know, we say workspace, and sometimes customers hear VDI. And the reality is that that's not how we've thought about the workspace and certainly not how we've built it.
We've built the workspace for all applications. We've built it for all content. And we've built it for all the employees.
So let's take a quick look at what we've already delivered in the workspace. And then, we'll talk about where we see the workspace evolving and moving forward. this is the workspace as we shipped it in the late fall.
Of course, in here, you will see that we have our on-prem existing Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop connectivity so our published apps.
You also see here that we have cloud apps.
And we have SaaS applications that are being secured here and delivered in a secure manner inside the workspace.
We also, of course, have access to your desktops whether that's an on-prem desktop, a cloud-hosted desktop or perhaps a new Win 10 Windows virtual desktop hosted on Azure.
And of course, we integrate all of your content through Citrix Files connectors back to your on-prem content as well as to your cloud providers. And we deliver this experience on all the endpoints.
So I mentioned SaaS applications as part of that experience. You know, one of the myths that exists about SaaS is that we're all good, that my current security practices are good enough for all of my SaaS applications. The truth is that your SaaS apps are much more secure in a Citrix Workspace.
And that's why we've gone ahead and integrated more than 120 of those SaaS applications through single sign on into the workspace to deliver that secure experience. And this is a set of applications we are continuing to extend over time and add to this portfolio.
Today, I'm delighted to announce that we are unveiling new Armored Client technology shipping inside the Citrix Workspace to provide an even greater degree of security and control to organizations.
This new Armored Client inside the workspace thwarts key loggers, screen capture technology and, the most common and dangerous, anti-phishing techniques. And it protects all apps and content inside the workspace.
We think this is a great example of doubling down on our commitments around security, taking our existing capabilities that we've shown in secure delivery for apps and desktops and bringing that same capability to secure delivery for SaaS applications, which, as we all know, are becoming an increasingly larger part of the application portfolio inside organizations.
And I want to talk a little bit about the intelligent workspace or what it is that we do now that we've built that workspace platform.
There's one final myth that I want to share with you about SaaS applications. And that is that we all love to use SaaS. We all love our apps.
The truth is that many employees are frustrated with their app usage experience. If you think about what's happened over the last probably three to five years, we've seen this proliferation of new apps. I have to use many of them myself. But I don't frankly use a lot of them. I use a little bit of many of them. So I never feel like I've mastered any of those applications. I spend a lot of time switching. And frankly, when I need to move information between one application and the other, it's sort of my problem. And this is a really consistent theme that we hear that these applications, as they evolve and get replaced, they create new learning challenges for organizations.
On the flip side, life hasn't gotten any easier for IT. You're managing this new set of applications. They have their own security profiles and policies. They have their own data repositories in stores.
We want to move away from being just an app directory to creating an environment that brings together all your apps, all your content that consistently runs across all of your devices.
And this is what we've delivered. This is the Citrix Workspace that helps you organize work. But we want to move beyond this. The first thing we want to do is we want to deliver intelligence into the workspace where we start to surface inside the workspace interactions that make sense, that simplify the work that you need to do and that help you retain the focus that you need to get your job done.
So we want to guide work. And this is based on that deep analytics platform. It requires us to have insight into what matters most to you, not just about the content but also the applications, also the tasks, the work flows that I need to participate in inside the organization.
And ultimately, we want to move beyond this to also automate work. If we know what needs to get done, we can help you do it. Not only can we surface it. But in many cases, we can actually move the work forward.
This is probably the primary reason this vision that we acquired Sapho in the fall. One of the things that's compelling and exciting about talking to the folks at Sapho is that they shared a vision that we had for the importance of intelligent workspaces and delivering work to users in a brand-new way.
I want to quickly walk you through what that experience might look like and maybe spend a little time showing you some of the elements that we are going to not just extract from Sapho but also unify with capabilities that we already had at Citrix which is really what makes it most compelling and exciting.
So to start with, we're going to make it very easy to start work, to get assistance, to ask for content, find a task, see what's next.
At the centerpiece of the new Workspace experience is the feed that shows all the notifications that are relevant to me. It might be workflows I have to approve. It might be documents I need to review. It might be expenses. I mean, there are all of these very basic things that I need to do on a regular basis.
And rather than having to go somewhere else to do them, we are going to surface enough information inside the workspace to allow you to confidently complete that task. In this case, I can see the line items in the expense report and approve it right here without ever leaving the workspace.
We are also going to work on a concept called boards, which is really a way for me to organize my personal projects and connect them up with team-oriented sites like Slack and Microsoft Teams so that I have my view of the work that I'm contributing.
And of course, finally, we still give you access to your applications, to your desktop and to your content. But this pivot inside the workspace experience really highlights that our goal here is to really drive the experience of completing work in a very different way.
Let's take a quick look at a video of what this might look like for an interactive user. So here, you see in the workspace I have recent content that's being surfaced for me. I have my notification feeds that come from all these applications, as you can see ServiceNow, Concur, Workday.
And of course, you can integrate your own applications into that feed over time also. What we try to do here in the workspace is organize it by priority.
In this case, it's by when it's required. You can see right here I can get to a collaboration that I'm having with someone on a product where we're having a product issue. And I can keep track of that project right here within the workspace.
You can also see that, right here, we make it very easy for you to search for specific things that relate to the projects you're working on. In this case, I happen to know that there's a document that would be very useful for those of us that are working on that product defect.
So I search for it right here. And I get the content that I'm looking for. When I select that content, I can easily associate it with the project that was related to this particular item. And then, what you see here is that we've actually identified the Microsoft teams that might be most relevant.
And I can pick the one right there in context without ever leaving the workspace and drive that workflow forward, share that content with other people on my team.
So really, this is a very significant shift in the way that we think about what that workspace looks like. But I will say the beauty of the workspace is it's more than skin deep. There's a lot of technology that we have that's unique to Citrix that is powering that workspace experience.
Whether it's the security capabilities with access control or it's our networking stack that's helping deliver the quality of the experience or our analytics platform that really is powering those new unified experiences, they are all required technologies to bring together this type of modern user experience.
