4. Solid State
Properties of solid matter:
- Has a definite size (or volume) & shape
- Cannot be compressed, except at high
pressure
- Diffuses slowly
Examples of solid include sugar, ice cube,
stone etc.
5. Liquid State
Properties of liquid matter:
- It has a definite volume but no definite
shape.
- It is incompressible
- It diffuses slowly and can evaporate
when placed in an open container
Examples of matter in liquid state include
water, urine, kerosene etc.
6. Gaseous State
Properties of gaseous matter:
- It has no definite shape and volume.
- It has low density and it's highly
compressible.
- It diffuses rapidly, hence gases are miscible
in any proportion.
Examples of matter in gaseous state include air,
smoke etc.
