PERSONAL INVESTMENT Personal investment is defined as an individual invest and manage their own financial instrument, such as, stocks, bonds,
property and others. This personal investment is in aims of improve the liquidity and efficiency of the equity and capital of the individual. Basically, the
individual investors have to develop their own investment plan and framework based on different characteristics of the individual investors. This is
because the personal investment is very subjective, whereby it is totally based on the characteristics and the degree of risk tolerance of the individual
investors. However, before investing into the financial instruments, the individual investors should develop an investment plan and strategy. This...

guidelines are referred as the road map for investment over different stages of the financial life cycle, and also consist of the financial goals and the
financial perspectives. After that, the individual investors have to address the investment constraints and take into consideration when managing the
investment. Some constraint factors embraced tax consideration, investment duration and liquidity. Third part of investment plan is the investment
policy which meant a statement about what will and will not to invest and the way of investing the financial instruments. Firstly, the individual
investors have to clear about which classes of financial instruments wanted to accept and invest while what kind of financial assets will be rejected.
Second, the investment benchmark which is a hypothetical to show the performance of certain financial asset over the duration. This benchmark also

Investment Advantages And Disadvantages
The historic choice for a client aged 57 would be to invest heavily in the bond markets to minimise risk. That being said returns on the bond markets
are quite low and rising interest rates could mean an even lower return in the long term as bond prices decrease. To try and balance risk and return I
have chosen to invest 15% of the portfolio in alternatives.
Alternative assets can help diversify an investor's portfolio. They are normally non–traditional investments & do not tend to move in the direction of
the stock market and may protect the portfolio in times of market volatility.

Stocks or shares are essentially a part ownership of a company & that companies assets & earnings. As you buy more stock your ownership in the
company increases. Stocks are sold by a company to raise funds to help the company grow. The first stock issue is called an initial public offering or
(IPO). The owners sell control of the company in the form of stock. Shares can then be resold on the stock market. Stock prices are detmined by
expectations of company earnings, or profits.

The Theoretical Aspects Of Investments
Introduction In our day to day interactions we end up making many investments anticipating future gains in terms of profits or dividends. In
accounting, financial investments are extensively covered as they form the basis of many business interactions between people, companies and
organizations. A financial investment can be described as the act of either creating or purchasing an asset for a fixed amount of money with the hopes
and expectations of benefits in the future. A perfect example is when a company provides services or particular assets, e.g. land to another company
or group of people for a pre–determined value. The primary focus of this paper will be to highlight and critically analyze the theoretical aspects of...

Therefore, it is of great importance for adequate prior research to have been conducted on the asset before the investment is made. In addition to this,
the market must be carefully studied to provide concrete and reliable predictions of future trends in relation to the particular asset (Elton, 2009).
Income Emanating from Dividends and Interest Accrued The second main reason why investors spend both money and their time on investments is
to realize the income that comes in the form of dividends and interest from assets. Over time, an asset generates either interest or dividends depending
on its use. Assets owned by a company or an individual investor and are loaned to other individuals or businesses generate interest. This interest is a
compensation to the owner of the asset. To the investor, the interest is the value he, she or it derives from the investment made on the asset. If the
investor invested in a company, then his, her or its reward will come in the form of dividends. Dividends are mainly the periodic payments made to
shareholders of a company depending on their level of investment, the more money invested in a company, the more the dividend returns will be.
Control and Influence The third and final reason why investments are made is to establish and maintain significant control and influence over a
company, sector, region and many more. By investing in companies and assets, investors are

If it cannot pay pensions, what good is it! Responses * Indeed, the one year results were terrible, but one year is a poor statistical base from which to
draw inferences. Moreover, the board of trustees had directed Karl to adopt a long–term horizon. The Board specifically instructed the investment
manager to give priority to long term results. * The sample of pension funds had a much larger share invested in equities than did Alpine. Equities
performed much better than bonds. Yet the trustees told Alpine to hold down risk (Alpine's beta was also somewhat defensive). Alpine should not be
held responsible for an asset allocation policy dictated by the client. * Alpine's alpha measures its risk–adjusted performance compared to the market: a
= 13.3% – [7.5% + 0.90(13.8% – 7.5%)] = 0.13% (actually above zero) * Note that the last 5 years, and particularly the most recent year, have been
bad for bonds, the asset class that Alpine had been encouraged to hold. Within this asset class, however, Alpine did much better than the index fund.
Moreover, despite the fact that the bond index underperformed both the actuarial return and T–bills, Alpine outperformed both. Alpine's performance
within each asset class has been superior on a risk–adjusted basis. Its overall disappointing returns were due to a heavy asset allocation weighting
towards bonds, which was the Board's, not Alpine's, choice. * A trustee may not care about the time–weighted return, but

The Alternative Investment Of Equity
2.0 Alternative investment to equity "Equities are notoriously volatile investment, both in terms of the market as a whole and individually, and its
prices are affected not only by fundamentals, but by external factors and market sentiments" (Conen, 2015). Apart from the volatile nature of equities
which may lead to a significant reduction in investment value for investors, equities are subject to capital gains tax on gains at disposal, and income
tax on dividend income. As such including investments other than equity in an investors overall portfolio not only counteracts the risk of volatility but
may also offer an opportunity for tax efficiency. Even when equities are performing well, these other assets should also provide reasonable... Show

In case of default of a bank or building society, FSCS provides compensation of 100% of the first ВЈ85,000 invested in cash per institution for a single
depositor, and ВЈ170,000 for joint investors (Conen, 2015). This means that an investor will most certainly receive back the original amount invested
no matter the turbulence in the financial markets. Conen (2015) identified cash and deposit based investments in the UK to include but not limited to
National Savings and Investment products; bank and building society accounts; offshore deposits; and credit unions. These investments will usually
offer a very low variable interest rate. Charles Schwab (2015), Money–Zine (2015) and Voigt (2012) all agree that cash and deposit based investments
offer liquidity and flexibility to a portfolio. This will allow investors not to sell equity holdings during bear market in other to fund emergency
borrowings as they will have easy access to cash. This means that cash will enable investors to regain over a longer term the losses incurred on
equities during a stock market crash as they will not have the need so sell the shares in the short term. Cash and deposit based investments however
offer investors very low interest rates and over the longer term returns may be totally wiped out by inflation. According to Conen (2015), a study

Nearly three quarters of all U.S. households invest in the stock market. And half of all U.S. households invest in mutual funds–the nation's fastest
growing type of investment. Some investors are saving for a comfortable retirement, other's for a child's education. Whatever their goals, shareholders
benefit from broad diversification, professional investment management, and ready access to their money. If one decided investing was a sound way to
secure their financial future, their next step is to build a balanced portfolio by selecting an investment company and/or suitable investment types. While
it may seem daunting–and even overwhelming–there is always someone who stands ready to help an investor.

Companies were small and investors were smaller. Today, companies are huge and investors are still small for the most part. The biggest problem for
the small investor is cost. Costs are a critical consideration in investing, but are often overlooked by investors. Costs should never be left out of the
investment equation. Here's why:
 In a money market or bond fund, lower cost result directly in higher yields for investors.
 In common stock funds, lower costs can provide a significant enhancement to the compound rate of total return achieved over a period of
time.
The cost of owning a mutual fund, called the expense ratio, can be quite high depending on the type of fund and company that offers that fund. An
expense ratio is the percentage
of a fund's average net assets used to pay annual fund expenses. The expense ratio takes into account management fees, administrative fees, and 12b–1
marketing fees. Transaction fees or loads also effect cost. These fees are paid either going into a fund, coming out of a fund, or both. These fees are
used to help offset the cost of maintaining smaller accounts. It costs companies more to maintain smaller accounts; therefore, smaller clients put less
into their pockets as earnings. The less one spends in fees, the more money one earns. Such a simple process, but easier said than done for the smaller
clients. Once the accounts reach a certain asset level, the account fees are waived. Vanguard

Institutions, Investment, And Growth
Institutions, Investment, and Growth Through our discussion this past week, we pondered the role of institutions in investment and the subsequent
resulting growth. I hypothesize that institutional quality, measured through economic freedom, influences three separate mechanisms that determine
the level of investment and its efficiency in creating growth. First, institutional quality determines how markets allocate investment capital, favoring
both less risky and higher returning projects. Countries with institutions more consistent with economic freedom have lower taxation rates and less
chance of asset seizure, making them more attractive destinations for investment capital. Secondly, prospective investment capital is less likely to be
used to pay bribes or be confiscated by the governments of more economically free countries. Thus, the capital is more likely to create growth rather
than be allocated towards unproductive means. Lastly, countries with more economic freedom should observe higher rates of return due to increased
worker productivity and lower regulatory costs, creating more economic growth and allowing for further investment. In sum, investment in more likely
to be allocated to countries with better quality institutions, the investment capital is more likely to be used towards productive projects in those
countries, and finally, the investment capital should produce higher returns, leading to more economic growth. This is particularly relevant in the

However, high risk tolerances investor may not favour riskier growth stocks if they will retire soon. Portfolio Investments for Retirement As for
Investors who are saving for retirement, their investment portfolio should be diversified with low–cost investments such as index fund. As a
consequence of the minimum expense level among a number of asset classes, index funds are favoured by investors who are saving for retirement.
Therefore, the retirement portfolios will corely hold these types of funds. In order to get a more hands–on portfoilo, investors may add additional asset
classes to their portfolio mix, for instance, they can tweak portfolio allocations to add real estate, private equity, stocks and bonds. Interestingly, the
investments between you and other investors can be considered as a tug of war. In tug of war, the best foothold should be gripped to win game.
Similarly, in order to win the investing game to get profit, you should make effort to manage your portfolio as well as possible. Therefore, during the
rest lifetime, the profit of share you take will be determinated by your decison now or 10 years later in your Thrift Savings Plan account. In my
opinion, it's essential to try to distill this complex recipe for managing your investment portfolio down to its essential ingredients. What

Ethical investments are similar to traditional investments with only one difference. Both traditional and ethical investors pursue the same goal of

that ethical investors do not want their investments going for things that cause harm to the social or physical environments. Instead they want their

"By investing in companies that are doing things in which you improve, you would actually be helping these companies to continue their good
work. Similar logic applies to avoiding those companies whose activities you find objectionable. If enough people follow suit, the shares may lose
favor and management may be forced to alter its policies. "If our power as consumers were used to the full, every company would have to account

money makes the world go round. If companies found that unethical behavior caused investors to withdraw their money, it would make them think
twice. "In the USA, one in every eight dollars is invested ethically, and this trend is expanding globally". (Asset Financial Management ) The roots of
modern ethical investment may be traced to the 1920s. The Methodist Church in North America decided to invest in the stock market, having
previously viewed it as a form of gambling. However, they wished to exclude certain types of companies, specifically those involved in alcohol or
gambling. The Quakers soon followed, but they were especially keen to avoid weapons manufacture. Public demand for ethical investment vehicles took

du Pont de Nemours and Co., also known as the DuPont Company. Developed originally in the early 1900s by a finance executive at E.I. du Pont
de Nemours and Co., of Wilmington, Delaware, the DuPont system of financial analysis provides a classic template for the decomposition process
that can be used to build integrated systems of performance metrics. The traditional role that the DuPont formula plays in finance is to help
investors select projects and investments that are the most profitable. The first application of the DuPont Model was in 1918. It was used to help
with DuPont's decision to become a major stakeholder in General Motors (Mitchell, Mitchell, & Cai, 2013). The DuPont accounting labs exported
their ROI measure during Pierre du Pont 's reign from 1920 to 1923 as president of General Motors Corp., in which DuPont had taken a major

evolved into a classic diagnostic tool for identifying strengths, weaknesses and potential improvements to a business's capital structure in order to
maximize shareholder wealth. (Mitchell, Mitchell, & Cai, 2013). The DuPont model uses certain inputs such as sales, cost of sales, fixed assets and

Types Of Investment And Financial Investment
I: Types of investment: (words: 184).
There are two main types of investments which are real investment and financial investment. Real investment in the literal meaning is real assets

Investment and Andrews Company
Dear Board of Directors,
Upon implementing a Broad Differentiation strategy, Andrews Company desired to have highly demanded products in each of the market segments,
hold the majority market share compared to our competitors and increase the value of our firm by the year 2021. We believed that this strategy could
get us to that point and we have successfully done so. The start up of Andrews Company proved to be more difficult than anticipated due to high costs in
marketing and R&D, investing in automation of sensors and due to our decision to take out most of our loans in the early stages of our product,
leading to negative profits for the first two years. However, Broad Differentiation lucratively brought Andrews market share up to... Show more content

Andrews also spent money each year on training employees for a maximum of 80 hour and recruiting spend of about $4.5 million each year,
increasing our productivity index to 129.9% by the end of 2021. At the beginning of 2016, Andrews made an executive decision to invest in total
quality management. Of a budget of $4 million, we allotted $1.5 million in 2016 and 2017, then another $600 thousand in 2018. After this amount was
spent, we would have seen diminishing returns and opted to cap out at $3.6 million. The substantial investment allowed us to reduce labor and material
costs, while increasing demand, thus allowing us to steadily increase profits each year, especially during this three–year span when competitors did not
spend enough in TQM.
The Future of Andrews
Andrews Company will continue to use its method of broad differentiation in the upcoming years and plans to issue stock in order to help with
investing in capacity issues that we've had in the past. We will continue to spend on marketing, research and development and compensating our
employees adequately in order to keep our high market share. Distinguishing our products will continue to be of the utmost importance, offering
clientele a superior design.

something that is important to you. If one is unaware of the reason they are fighting, they will soon be blindsided by the affects of war and the
consequences they are forced to face. The significance of personal investment is shown in literature and films in all different ways. In the movie

Being apart of something that does not matter personally should not be the case. Personal investment is allowing one to be involved in something
they feel is important, instead of going along with everyone else. In Shenandoah Charlie at first has a strong opinion on not getting involved in
the war. He believes this way because in this point of the movie the war has not reached his land yet. When Charlie's son bothers him about the war
he sticks to his decision and gives the response of not getting involved in something that does not regard them. This decision in not being involved
changes when the youngest son is taken by Union soldiers. When Boy and Gabriel are caught to close to the action putting their life in danger
they start to run. After making an effort to get away from the danger they collapse near the pond. At this time Boy is wearing a hat he had found in
the river that a soldier form the confederate side would wear. The Union soldiers mistakenly take him for a prisoner and take him away. When
news gets to Charlie he now realizes he has a reason to get involved in the war. For Charlie he now has a personal investment because his son
means more to him then what the war is dealing with. If his son also means war he is willing to take the chance and go look for him. Charlie does
not fall in the trap of the glorification of war, he instead gets involved in war for the right reasons which is saving his son. Although Joe was

Different Forms of Investment
Good morning everyone. I have been asked to find the best investments for my 18 year old friend who has just received 150 thousand dollars.
There are many different ways of investing money. The five most common ways to invest are: Term deposits, Managed Funds, shares, property
and superannuation. According to can star: A term deposit is a cash investment held at a financial institution for an agreed rate of interest over a
fixed amount of time. If the investor wishes to take the money out of the account they will be charged a large fee. Another form of Investment is
managed funds. According to colonial first state a managed fund is a professionally managed investment portfolio that individual investors can buy
into, purchasing 'units' rather than shares. Shares are small parts of businesses sold on the stock market. The value can go up or down. Buying a
property is a way of investing. As the prices of houses rise and fall so does the value of your house. The fifth way of investing is through
Superannuation. Superannuation according to Investapedia are Funds deposited in a superannuation account growing typically without any tax
implications until retirement or withdrawal These five ways of investing are not all suited to my friend. She is 18 and doesn't have a proper job
therefore she will not be able to get superannuation. As she only has 150 000 she will not have enough for a house. This leaves term deposits, shares
and managed funds. These are the 3 best ways of

Recently, Vietnam is attracting increasing interest from international investors as a promising emerging market. Some of the largest U.S. corporations
such as Intel, IBM, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, to name a few, started to set foot in the country with confidence.
However, investing in Vietnam still constitutes a conundrum for outsiders and horror stories have been told by former entrepreneurs who lost their
fortunes and even almost lost their lives dealing with the Vietnamese Communist Party. Case in point: Trinh Vinh Binh, a Vietnamese Dutch investor
who escaped from Vietnam and later sued the Vietnamese government for breach of contract and for confiscating his assets in Vietnam. The case was

A long–term approach investing into the Vietnam Index (VNI) should capture significant profits generated by a steady growth rate of an emerging
economy. Nonetheless, a current lack of sound laws and regulations limits drastically the participation of foreign investors into the Vietnam stock

The Investment Detective Case
Case 17 – The Investment Detective The case of the Investment Detective laid out the cash flows for us in each of eight different projects. Before
doing any calculations we came up with the assumption that we could not rank the projects simply by inspecting the cash flows. Without the ability
to rank the projects based off of cash flows solely, we had to use some analytical criteria as a capital budgeting analyst to provide some thorough
support and reasoning for how we ranked the four best projects. In this case we are only using quantitative considerations that we deem to be relevant
and no other project characteristics are deciding factors in our selection of the best four projects. When coming up with our calculations to rank... Show

Net Present Value and Internal Rate of Return can disagree when the initial investments are substantially different as well but in this case the initial
investment was the same. In fully investigating all of our calculations we are fully invested in using the Net Present Value figures we calculated as a
means of ranking the eight projects. In doing so we found reasons in which why the Net Present Value was our benchmark for ranking the projects
and why we did not use the Payback Method. The Payback Method ignores the time value of money, requires and arbitrary cutoff point, ignores cash
flows beyond the cutoff date, and is biased against long–term projects, such as research and development and new projects. When comparing the
Average Accounting Return Method to the Net Present Value method we found that the Average Accounting Return Method is a worse option than
using the Payback Method. The Average Accounting Return Method is not a true rate of return and the time value of money is ignored, it uses an
arbitrary benchmark cutoff rate, and is based on accounting net income and book values, not cash flows and market values. Plain and simply put, the
Net Present Value method is the best criterion to use when ranking these eight

6Angels are not venture capitalists
You should also know that angel investors are not venture capitalist. It's an important, but often forgotten, distinction. You do need to learn the
difference, as it can make raising money just slightly easier – you don't want to be pitching to angels when you actually need a VC.
Above, I already gave you to short introduction to angel investing.
So, what about VCs? Why are the two different?
Much of the difference is down to the way the investors operate and invest.
Let's compare the two in three of the most common areas of divergence: the amount of money invested, the desired terms and conditions, and the
involvement after investment.
The two investors would approach the three topics like this: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why?
Because an angel investor won't ever sign one so you'd be wasting your time.
I mean, sure, you could talk about it when you are dissing the startup that ask an angel to sign one. Just don't be the startup that asks for one.
I've written a post about why investors won't sign NDAs and it fully applies to both venture capitalists and angels.
Essentially it all boils down to the nature of angel investing – and venture capital, for what it's worth. You see, angels have an investment portfolio that
they are constantly thinking about expanding. They will be contacted by numerous hopeful startups, looking for investment.
They will talk to businesses that might be similar to yours. It just isn't possible for them to take the risk of you thinking they leaked your ideas. That's
costly and time–consuming.
Your relationship with the angel will be built on mutual trust and respect.
They trust and respect you to be transparent and do what you're planning with all you can and you need to trust and respect the angel to not steal your
ideas.
The bottom line is that you shouldn't waste time and breath talking about NDAs with angels – they simply won't write one.

Investment Funds Follow Various Investment Strategies
Answer 1 Investment funds follow various investment strategies. Objectives common to all investors are safety of invested funds, capital appreciation
or providing for current income. пѓ Income Funds– The investors here are more concerned about current income rather than capital gains. These
funds focus on stocks with high dividend yield. Investors prefer to hold funds for a longer time period. Balanced investors who prefer a steady flow of
cash without much risk and the retirees are generally attracted towards income funds. These are conservative investments and avoid volatility. They can
ensure a regular income source for meeting common expenses. пѓ Growth Funds– Funds are invested in diversified stocks having high capital
appreciation and generally involve more than average risk. Investors not due to retire soon, willing to accept risk and plan to hold the investments for
longer time periods prefer to invest in growth funds. They are considered to be tax–efficient and provide the benefit of compounding. пѓ Value funds–
They focus on safety of funds and often involve investments that provide dividends and appreciation of capital. They follow stocks that are considered
to be undervalued. Conservative investors who desire less volatile returns prefer these types of funds. Such investments provide the investors with
current inflow of income (through dividends) alongwith capital appreciation. пѓ Short Funds– Common investors can enjoy some advantages of

Introduction to Investment Banking An investment bank is not a bank in the usual sense. It doesn't have checking or savings accounts, nor does it

similar way that regular banks help these organizations get financing by lending money that the banks' customers have deposited in the banks' savings,

After exposing the corrupt practices of commercial and investment banks, the investigation led to the establishment of the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) as well as to the signing of the Banking Act of 1933, also known as the Glass–Steagall Act. The SEC became responsible for
regulating and overseeing in–vesting in public companies. The Glass–Steagall Act mandated the separation of commercial and investment banking and
from then–until the late 1980–banks had to choose between the two enterprises. The Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934
required investment banks to make full disclosures of securities offerings in investment prospectuses and charged the SEC with reviewing them. This
legislation also required companies to regularly file financial statements in order to make known changes in their financial position. As a result of these
acts, bidding for investment banking projects became competitive as companies began to select the lowest bidders and not rely on major traditional
companies such as Morgan Stanley and Kuhn, Loeb. By the 1950s, investment banking began to pick up as the economy continued to prosper. This
growth surpassed that of the 1920s. Consequently, major corporations sought new financing during this period. General Motors, for example, made a

The On The Investment Of The Trust
(a) The first question considers whether there have been any breaches concerning the investment of the trust and, if so to consider the consequences.
As mentioned the will contained no further provisions, therefore there are no express controls in the trust instrument with reference to investment so
the following advice is on the basis that the trustees' powers are statutory. Furthermore we are not told of any provision purporting to exclude
liability of the trustees. A trustee may make any kind of investment that he could make if he were entitled to the trust assets , this is referred to as
"the general power of investment" . As there are no positive inclusions of a power to invest in a particular manner Fiona and Edwin have "the general

An Multilateral Agreement On Investment
Different countries have different concerns that need to be preserved through exception provisions. In drafting the Multilateral Agreement on
Investment (MAI), France and Germany tended to introduce cultural exception to protect the domestic cultural industry, while the US proposed
including national security, governmental subsidy, governmental procurement, and support for ethic minority into exceptions. The discrepancy on the
content of exceptions constituted determinant accelerating the failure of MAI negotiation.
Although each state's regulatory space can be preserved at a maximum level through leaving the scope of exceptions to the hands of the states,
different parties may have different explanations according to their own needs. For instance, measures protecting 'public infrastructure' constitute a
form of security exception in both US and UK treaties but it is comprehended as 'property, service and system' in UK practice and 'property and
system' in the US practice. Environmental security is a new form of national security in the US when the country suffered from pollution in the
Northeast region, water shortage in the West, drought and forest fires and hurricanes in the coastal regions since 2009. But such situation may not

today to close the doors to foreign investment. The fact is foreign investment is responsible for providing a great deal of needed capital in this country.
This capital is an asset in the continuous modernization and expansion of our manufacturing and other productive facilities. Without investment in our
factories and processes we would fall behind in the world market. These investments lead to increased competitiveness within the international
community.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are four basic steps to the screening process. The first step involves determining the basic appeal. This is done through determining the basic
demand for the product and determining the availability of resources to support the business. This would include resources such as labor and raw
materials. The next step in the process is to analyze the national business environment. Managers must understand the differences in culture, laws,
politics, and economies between countries. The third step in in the process is measuring the market or site potential. The types of products to be sold
and how they are sold are influenced by the different levels of economic development. The fourth and final step in the process is the actual selection
of the site or market. Visits are made to the remaining sites that have made it through the process so far in order to more closely view the culture or
workforce. Competitors are also analyzed in this process. Competition has a direct impact on pricing. It needs to be determined how many competitors
are in the market, their market share, segment appeal, their focus on quality or price, their level of control over distribution channels, level of customer
loyalty, the potential of new competitors entering the market, and how much control competitors have on production inputs such as labor, raw
materials, and capital (Analyzing

Causes Of Investment In Greece
Unfortunately, Greece is trailing in attracting FDIs and the reasons will be explained in detail below. The net inflows reached EUR 2.8 billion in 2016
(enterprise Greece), the largest amount since 2008, before the beginning of the crisis. Nevertheless, Greece ranks 29th out of the 39 countries (OECD)
that comprise the OECD showing that the country is unattractive to foreign investors. The same picture is illustrated and at the latest attractiveness
report from Ernst & Young. Even thoughtGreece saw a 123% increase in FDI investment in 2016 compared to the year before is still ranked 34th in
the number of FDI projects and 35th in the number of jobs created among the 44 Europeans countries that participated in the survey. Only 13 projects ...

Such a proportion is considered by many authors as an adequate response rate for surveys administrated online (Sheehan, 2001; Hamilton, 2003), since
67.69% of the response rate occurred via emails.
Since we have identified the most important factors that create obstacles for FDIs, thus making Greece unattractive destination for such investments,
we will now analyze in more detail its business environment. Most specifically we will focus on the bureaucratic problems that the companies are
facing, the infrastructure deficiencies, the unstable and discouraging tax system and lastly the insolvent banking system. The last one is worth
mentioning since its relatively new comparing to the other contibuting factors and as we will see it may play an important role in disparaging FDIs
from Greece.
Bureaucracy:
A picture of how the Greek public governance works is shown in the "Doing Business 2018" report published by the World Bank. According to the
statistics the country's ranking in registering for property and enforcing contracts is 145 and 131 respectively out of 190 countries examined. It takes
the last position in the categories easy for doing business, registering property and enforcing contracts and its close to the last

Investment Case Study
In the final year of maturity, I will receive the principal of the bond and the coupon. Plus, when making these calculations and collecting data I have
assumed that the bond is selling at par. All this means is that the bond will be sold for $100,000, which also means for the next five years I will have
to give up the coupon payments of 4,250 if I do sell this bond. Once reviewing the calculations and data collected on the company, Apple, the best
decision for me that would help finance my education would have to be selling the 1,000 EE Savings Bonds. This is the best decision because the
value of the 1,000 shares of Apple stock has more potential to increase in value than the 1,000 EE Savings Bonds. Also, when selling the 1,000 EE ...

An advantage of selling bonds is that the federal tax income is greatly decreased if used for continued education (GreenGarageBlog.org, 2015).
Stocks usually outperform bonds, yet to be successful it is important to research and find a fair price for one's investment (Connectusfund.org,
2015). It is nice to know that having another investment, which makes money with less risk involve can balance one's investments so that he or
she can pay for school and still receive the best returns. There are many advantages and disadvantages of selling a combination of stocks and
bonds, but you have to make the right decision for yourself and the situation that you are in and would prefer. Choosing to sell my bonds and keep
my stocks is more beneficial to me in this case and even though I will have a higher risk making this choice, as explained through the calculations
and data provided at the beginning of this short essay, I feel that this choice is better for me than the others available that may be at a lower risk.
Taking a higher risk with keeping Apple's stocks and selling the 1,000 EE Savings Bonds will allow me to have $121,250 in five years. I will have to
give up $4,250 each year for five years, but in the fifth year, I will receive $104, 250 regardless when the bond matures. This will cover school if
something else were to go wrong in making my decision. Plus, keeping Apple's stocks, which is

Investment Management
1 INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT Note: These course notes were written by Professor Virginia Maracine PhD and Professor Emil Scarlat PhD
Department of Economic Cybernetics, Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest, using the announced references (see the Course 's Syllabus). Chapter
1 Introduction. Basic of Investment 1.1. What Investment it is about? But Investment Management? 1. Investment – concepts and types The word
Investment originates in the Latin "vestis", meaning garment, and refers to the act of putting things (money or other claims to resources) into others '
pockets. The basic meaning of the term being an asset held to have some recurring or capital gains. It is an asset that is expected to give returns

Thus investment is everything that remains of production after consumption, government spending, and exports are subtracted. I is divided into
non–residential investment (such as factories) and residential investment (new houses). Net investment deducts depreciation from gross investment. It
is the value of the net increase in the capital stock per year. Investment, as production over a period of time ("per year"), is not capital. The time
dimension of investment makes it a flow. By contrast, capital is a stock, that is, an accumulation measurable at a point in time (say December 31st).
Investment is often modeled as a function of Income and Interest rates, given by the relation I = f(Y, r). An increase in income encourages higher
investment, whereas a higher interest rate may discourage investment as it becomes more costly to borrow money. Even if a firm chooses to use its
own funds in an investment, the interest rate represents an opportunity cost of investing those funds rather than loaning them out for interest. Finance
Approach In finance, investment = cost of capital, like buying securities or other monetary or paper (financial) assets in the money markets or capital
markets, or in fairly liquid real assets, such as gold, real

The Importance Of Investment In A Website
Why is investing in a website a good step for your business? Here are great reasons why you need to have a website. The investment you make in
your website is a sustainable investment (your site exists as long as you renew the hosting and the domain name), especially if you opt for a solution
that offers an easy to use interface and allows to evolve your site at the same time as your activity.
In our "connected" world, many shopping decisions are made at a computer screen. Imagine those customers you may have lost because you don't have
a website. A web page can then become a very important source of information about everything that affects your products and services for your
customers.
People from all over can find your website and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, it's also easy to use a website to advertise and increase your visibility. Also, by setting up the right tools (payment buttons, forms, automated
procedures, etc.) you can get prospects and customers at any time of the day and even during the holidays.
It is also an element that will bring you more credibility. Your website is an investment and not an expense. In the short and medium term, you will
see the benefits of a website. And your website can also help you defeat your rivals.
An "about" page allows you to tell your readers who you are, the goal of your website and the experience you have. This is a very important page that
can help you quickly win credibility in the eyes of a surfer who arrives on your website for the first time.
Is there any affiliate program that you would like to promote? For example, a customer's garden is in great need of landscaping and they have a lot of
flyers of landscaping companies. Therefore, the first reflex may be to check the information that they found on the internet about these landscaping
companies. Imagine your customer who bought 5 years ago at home, do you think he would like new information?
Your clientele is no longer limited to people in your city or region. Your site is the center of your online presence. Your website is your anchor, your
home on the internet.
A website

In accounting, financial investments are extensively covered as they form the basis of many business interactions between people, companies and organizations. A financial investment can be described as the act of either creating or purchasing an asset for a fixed amount of money with the hopes and expectations of benefits in the future. A perfect example is when a company provides services or particular assets, e.g. land to another company or group of people for a pre–determined value. Therefore, it is of great importance for adequate prior research to have been conducted on the asset before the investment is made. In addition to this, the market must be carefully studied to provide concrete and reliable predictions of future trends in relation to the particular asset (Elton, 2009). Income Emanating from Dividends and Interest Accrued The second main reason why investors spend both money and their time on investments is to realize the income that comes in the form of dividends and interest from assets. Over time, an asset generates either interest or dividends depending on its use. Assets owned by a company or an individual investor and are loaned to other individuals or businesses generate interest. This interest is a compensation to the owner of the asset. To the investor, the interest is the value he, she or it derives from the investment made on the asset. If the investor invested in a company, then his, her or its reward will come in the form of dividends. Dividends are mainly the periodic payments made to shareholders of a company depending on their level of investment, the more money invested in a company, the more the dividend returns will be. Control and Influence The third and final reason why investments are made is to establish and maintain significant control and influence over a company, sector, region and many more. Moreover, the board of trustees had directed Karl to adopt a long–term horizon. The Board specifically instructed the investment manager to give priority to long term results. * The sample of pension funds had a much larger share invested in equities than did Alpine. Equities performed much better than bonds. Yet the trustees told Alpine to hold down risk (Alpine's beta was also somewhat defensive). Alpine should not be held responsible for an asset allocation policy dictated by the client. * Alpine's alpha measures its risk–adjusted performance compared to the market: a = 13.3% – [7.5% + 0.90(13.8% – 7.5%)] = 0.13% (actually above zero) * Note that the last 5 years, and particularly the most recent year, have been bad for bonds, the asset class that Alpine had been encouraged to hold. Within this asset class, however, Alpine did much better than the index fund. Moreover, despite the fact that the bond index underperformed both the actuarial return and T–bills, Alpine outperformed both. Alpine's performance within each asset class has been superior on a risk–adjusted basis. Its overall disappointing returns were due to a heavy asset allocation weighting towards bonds, which was the Board's, not Alpine's, choice. * A trustee may not care about the time–weighted return, but ... Apart from the volatile nature of equities which may lead to a significant reduction in investment value for investors, equities are subject to capital gains tax on gains at disposal, and income tax on dividend income. As such including investments other than equity in an investors overall portfolio not only counteracts the risk of volatility but may also offer an opportunity for tax efficiency. This means that cash will enable investors to regain over a longer term the losses incurred on equities during a stock market crash as they will not have the need so sell the shares in the short term. Companies were small and investors were smaller. Today, companies are huge and investors are still small for the most part. The biggest problem for the small investor is cost. Costs are a critical consideration in investing, but are often overlooked by investors. Costs should never be left out of the investment equation. Here's why:  In a money market or bond fund, lower cost result directly in higher yields for investors.  In common stock funds, lower costs can provide a significant enhancement to the compound rate of total return achieved over a period of time. The cost of owning a mutual fund, called the expense ratio, can be quite high depending on the type of fund and company that offers that fund. An expense ratio is the percentage of a fund's average net assets used to pay annual fund expenses. The expense ratio takes into account management fees, administrative fees, and 12b–1 marketing fees. Transaction fees or loads also effect cost. These fees are paid either going into a fund, coming out of a fund, or both. These fees are used to help offset the cost of maintaining smaller accounts. It costs companies more to maintain smaller accounts; therefore, smaller clients put less into their pockets as earnings. The less one spends in fees, the more money one earns. Such a simple process, but easier said than done for the smaller clients. Once the accounts reach a certain asset level, the account fees are waived. Vanguard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Institutions, Investment, And Growth Institutions, Investment, and Growth Through our discussion this past week, we pondered the role of institutions in investment and the subsequent resulting growth. I hypothesize that institutional quality, measured through economic freedom, influences three separate mechanisms that determine the level of investment and its efficiency in creating growth. First, institutional quality determines how markets allocate investment capital, favoring both less risky and higher returning projects. Countries with institutions more consistent with economic freedom have lower taxation rates and less chance of asset seizure, making them more attractive destinations for investment capital. Secondly, prospective investment capital is less likely to be used to pay bribes or be confiscated by the governments of more economically free countries. Thus, the capital is more likely to create growth rather than be allocated towards unproductive means. Lastly, countries with more economic freedom should observe higher rates of return due to increased worker productivity and lower regulatory costs, creating more economic growth and allowing for further investment. In sum, investment in more likely to be allocated to countries with better quality institutions, the investment capital is more likely to be used towards productive projects in those countries, and finally, the investment capital should produce higher returns, leading to more economic growth. This is particularly relevant in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The traditional role that the DuPont formula plays in finance is to help investors select projects and investments that are the most profitable. The first application of the DuPont Model was in 1918. It was used to help with DuPont's decision to become a major stakeholder in General Motors (Mitchell, Mitchell, & Cai, 2013). The DuPont accounting labs exported their ROI measure during Pierre du Pont 's reign from 1920 to 1923 as president of General Motors Corp., in which DuPont had taken a major stockholding. There are many different ways of investing money. The five most common ways to invest are: Term deposits, Managed Funds, shares, property and superannuation. According to can star: A term deposit is a cash investment held at a financial institution for an agreed rate of interest over a fixed amount of time. If the investor wishes to take the money out of the account they will be charged a large fee. Another form of Investment is managed funds. According to colonial first state a managed fund is a professionally managed investment portfolio that individual investors can buy into, purchasing 'units' rather than shares. Shares are small parts of businesses sold on the stock market. The value can go up or down. Buying a property is a way of investing. There are many benefits to foreign investment in any country. It would be very difficult or impossible today to close the doors to foreign investment. The fact is foreign investment is responsible for providing a great deal of needed capital in this country. This capital is an asset in the continuous modernization and expansion of our manufacturing and other productive facilities. Without investment in our factories and processes we would fall behind in the world market. These investments lead to increased competitiveness within the international community.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are four basic steps to the screening process. The first step involves determining the basic appeal. This is done through determining the basic demand for the product and determining the availability of resources to support the business. This would include resources such as labor and raw materials. The next step in the process is to analyze the national business environment. Managers must understand the differences in culture, laws, politics, and economies between countries. The third step in in the process is measuring the market or site potential. The types of products to be sold and how they are sold are influenced by the different levels of economic development. The fourth and final step in the process is the actual selection of the site or market. Visits are made to the remaining sites that have made it through the process so far in order to more closely view the culture or workforce. Competitors are also analyzed in this process. Competition has a direct impact on pricing. It needs to be determined how many competitors are in the market, their market share, segment appeal, their focus on quality or price, their level of control over distribution channels, level of customer loyalty, the potential of new competitors entering the market, and how much control competitors have on production inputs such as labor, raw materials, and capital (Analyzing ... The net inflows reached EUR 2.8 billion in 2016 (enterprise Greece), the largest amount since 2008, before the beginning of the crisis. Nevertheless, Greece ranks 29th out of the 39 countries (OECD) that comprise the OECD showing that the country is unattractive to foreign investors. The last one is worth mentioning since its relatively new comparing to the other contibuting factors and as we will see it may play an important role in disparaging FDIs from Greece. • 40. Investment Case Study In the final year of maturity, I will receive the principal of the bond and the coupon. Plus, when making these calculations and collecting data I have assumed that the bond is selling at par. All this means is that the bond will be sold for $100,000, which also means for the next five years I will have to give up the coupon payments of 4,250 if I do sell this bond. Once reviewing the calculations and data collected on the company, Apple, the best decision for me that would help finance my education would have to be selling the 1,000 EE Savings Bonds. This is the best decision because the value of the 1,000 shares of Apple stock has more potential to increase in value than the 1,000 EE Savings Bonds. Also, when selling the 1,000 EE ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An advantage of selling bonds is that the federal tax income is greatly decreased if used for continued education (GreenGarageBlog.org, 2015). Stocks usually outperform bonds, yet to be successful it is important to research and find a fair price for one's investment (Connectusfund.org, 2015). It is nice to know that having another investment, which makes money with less risk involve can balance one's investments so that he or she can pay for school and still receive the best returns. There are many advantages and disadvantages of selling a combination of stocks and bonds, but you have to make the right decision for yourself and the situation that you are in and would prefer. Choosing to sell my bonds and keep my stocks is more beneficial to me in this case and even though I will have a higher risk making this choice, as explained through the calculations and data provided at the beginning of this short essay, I feel that this choice is better for me than the others available that may be at a lower risk. Taking a higher risk with keeping Apple's stocks and selling the 1,000 EE Savings Bonds will allow me to have $121,250 in five years. I will have to give up $4,250 each year for five years, but in the fifth year, I will receive $104, 250 regardless when the bond matures. This will cover school if something else were to go wrong in making my decision. Plus, keeping Apple's stocks, which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus investment is everything that remains of production after consumption, government spending, and exports are subtracted. I is divided into non–residential investment (such as factories) and residential investment (new houses). Net investment deducts depreciation from gross investment. It is the value of the net increase in the capital stock per year. Investment, as production over a period of time ("per year"), is not capital. The time dimension of investment makes it a flow. By contrast, capital is a stock, that is, an accumulation measurable at a point in time (say December 31st). Investment is often modeled as a function of Income and Interest rates, given by the relation I = f(Y, r). An increase in income encourages higher investment, whereas a higher interest rate may discourage investment as it becomes more costly to borrow money. Even if a firm chooses to use its own funds in an investment, the interest rate represents an opportunity cost of investing those funds rather than loaning them out for interest. Finance Approach In finance, investment = cost of capital, like buying securities or other monetary or paper (financial) assets in the money markets or capital markets, or in fairly liquid real assets, such as gold, real ... In our "connected" world, many shopping decisions are made at a computer screen. Imagine those customers you may have lost because you don't have a website. A web page can then become a very important source of information about everything that affects your products and services for your customers. People from all over can find your website and ... It is also an element that will bring you more credibility. Your website is an investment and not an expense. In the short and medium term, you will see the benefits of a website. And your website can also help you defeat your rivals. An "about" page allows you to tell your readers who you are, the goal of your website and the experience you have. This is a very important page that can help you quickly win credibility in the eyes of a surfer who arrives on your website for the first time. Is there any affiliate program that you would like to promote? For example, a customer's garden is in great need of landscaping and they have a lot of flyers of landscaping companies. Your site is the center of your online presence. Your website is your anchor, your home on the internet. A website
