1. POPULATION ADDRESSED
- The first grade students at the Gimnasio Los
Alcázares school in Sabaneta, Antioquia.
- The students are 5-7 years old.
- The school is private and its socioeconomic level is
high.
- The students are exposed to English daily at school
and at times at home too.
- The students are interested in sports, cartoons,
games and animals.
2. THE INSTITUTION
- Alcázares is a private bilingual school with grades
from transition to eleventh.
- The British Council Colombia officially certified the
school as bilingual and it continually observes and
advises the school.
- The school is part of the Cambridge International
Examinations (CIE) and its curriculum must adhere
to that of the Colombian Ministry of Education and
that of the CIE as well.
- The school offers a differentiated education in which
all the students are male as well as the teachers.
- The school's pedagogical approach aims to
develop students through a personalized integral
education with a catholic inspiration.
- The school believes that it's necessary to educate
the parents as well as the students.
3. COMPETENCES
- This blog will serve as a tool for students to complement
the topics seen in class.
- The students will be able to use this blog at school during
the science class and at home with the help of an adult.
- These are the competences they will be able to develop.
Cambridge Primary Science Curriculum Framework:
 Recognize and name the main external parts of the body.
 Explore how senses enable humans and animals to be aware
fo the world around them.
 Know that plants are living things.
 Name the major parts of a plant, looking at real plants and
models.
Cambridge Primary English Curriculum Framework:
 Pause at full stops when reading.
 Listen carefully to questions and instructions.
 Read labels, lists and captions to find information.
4. RESOURCES PLANNED
- The blog will include videos about animals, our body,
the five senses, plants, our planet and space.
- There will be links to pages with games.
- There will be documents to be opened at home and
printed with the help of an adult.
- There will be pictures and information about science
topics.
