3. Pitbull- The Boatlift Genre- rap Pitbull’s album the boatlift also stereotypes the rap genre and gangster lifestyle. However, the fact that the women are not half naked and Pitbull himself isn’t wearing masses of “bling” slightly makes the album seem more sophisticated and upmarket. The cover shows a picture of Pitbull stood with two beautiful women looking “cool” wearing a white suit with sunglasses. Also, he is stood in front of a city which implies he has power over the whole city and is respected by everyone in that city. He “owns” that city.
4. Kings of Crunk Genre- Rap This album cover of Lil Jon and The East Side Boyz is a typical gangster rap album cover. It seems to me that they are trying to be big and in your face, and at the same time intimidating. The stereotype of “bling” is shown with the use of silver teeth and the gangster stereotype with the gangster hats. Lil Jon is shown holding a trophy which shows they are proud to be the “kings of crunk” and they flaunt it, sort of challenging any other competitors with one hundred percent confidence.
5. Mike Jones- The American Dream Genre- rap Mike Jones uses a very faded picture of the American flag in the back ground and him standing big and proud yelling in to the microphone. This is as if to say he is yelling because he’s achieved “the American dream” and he is proud. It implies he’s worked hard to be where he is today and he deserves to flaunt it. The title “The American Dream” is written in big, bold, fancy writing to stand out and looking closely there is a woman’s hand trying to grab on to him which agrees with the stereotype that all rappers have lots of women.
6. Kano 140 Grime St Genre- Grime This album cover seems to show Kano walking forward as if to say he’s walking and not looking back. This implies he has no regrets and he’s serious. The album is called 140 Grime St so the use of singling out the word grime in a sign post sort of shape is very effective to show the genre. The picture shows that he wants people to know he means business and to take him seriously because he’s “street”.
