2. Institutions.
• The first 10 seconds of the opening has every single institution
who was involved with the film making.
• As this film is not very well known they felt there was no need
to drag out the institutions as it’s not that sort of film they just
wanted to get straight to the point.

3. • After the institutions there is then a room with a photo of the
Lead singer Josh. This indicates that this is where the band are
staying.
• Then the main institutions get their own screening to show
that its higher status one after another. On the back of the TV
there is an American flag which we see later on in the opening
this shows that they are in America. It’s setting the scene.

4. • While you see the American flag on the TV, you notice that’s
when the film production gets announced. The TV is to
indicate that this is their film.
• There is then a clip where the band start walking towards the
camera. This is showing them now walking into the opening.
With the title ‘ You Me At Six’ to show who they are.
• There is then close ups of all the band members with their
names next to them.

5. History.
• In between introducing the characters within the film is the
American History. Another factor indicating they are in
America. This is significant as they are actually from the UK.
So it’s showing the difference.

6. Status.
• The lead singer Josh Franceschi is the first starring name we see. This is
because he is the lead singer/songwriter.
• Second of all there is the joint song writer and guitarist – Max Helyer. This
is because he helps writes the songs for the band.
• Third of all there is the Guitarist – Chris Miller. He is put third because he’s
the only main guitarist left.
• Fourth there is Matt Barnes He is the Bassist of the band. This shows he
has a different role from the rest of the guitar players.
• Lastly there is then the drummer Dan Flint. This is because on stage you
usually can’t see him and he’s always hiding in the back so they put him
last.

7. Finally..
• There is then a TV screen again to show that this is a film not a
song. In the film there is an image of the band recording their
new song. The film title is their new song. So when the title
comes up it all links.
• Throughout the film there is their song ‘When I Was Younger’
is playing this is for advertisement and it fits in well with this
sort of opening.
