In a class, a video was shown that simulated racism by separating students into brown-eyed and blue-eyed groups and treating the brown-eyed group as superior. This made the blue-eyed group feel scared and intimidated. The video highlighted how African Americans are often treated in a similar or worse manner due to the color of their skin. The document argues that racism is a continuing problem, and while videos like this one can help open some minds, closed-mindedness will persist as a problem until more people learn acceptance of differences.

Brown Eyes vs. Blue Eyes
In class, the debate between the differences with blue and brown eyes were presented
when a video was shown. This video was showing how powerful racism can be. Also, it does not
only have be with the color of your skin, it can be anything. In the video people with brown eyes
and people with blue eyes were separated into different groups. As the video went on, it showed
how the brown eyed group felt more powerful because they were told to do so. Even though they
were told to do so, it became easily noticeable by the blue eyed group as they felt scared or
intimidated.
With this experiment, it was known that the people with blue eyes were hurt by how they
were being treated for no reason. They were harassed the entire time and treated as if they were
dirt. At the end, the instructor made the point that this is how African-Americans are treated, if
not worse.
I believe that with this video, it was extremely harsh. I also believe that, the examples
that were shown can be realistic. I think racism is very popular, especially in America, but I also
believe that racism is not only between people with different skin color. I believe that any person
can be pointed out and mistreated because they are not “normal”. There is no such thing as
“normal” in any area, everybody is different. This video pointed out and used one example of
discrimination when there are many more that also go unnoticed. Racism is a continuing problem
in our country. I think that all the awareness and these personal experiments are extremely good
2. to show people to open their minds. I also believe that some people will always have closed
minds and it will be a continuing problem until others are able to accept others for any
differences.
