Reflection
I watched this video in psychology last semester and both times it has left me in awe. It is
so hard for me to grasp the fact of how bad discrimination still exists in 2014. I highly commend
the lady in charge of the experiment and the job she does because it is so sad that she has been
doing this for twenty plus years. I liked this video because it captured how upset people would
get by being discriminated against when I am sure they have discriminated people themselves.
Discriminating people based on their eye color is laughable, but isn’t it laughable that we
discriminate people based on their skin color? I do not think eye color and skin color is different,
neither one changes a person nor their personalities. It is hard when the tables are turned and you
are the one being discriminated against. I cannot believe the experiment works so well, honestly.
I would think people would realize it is an experiment and not true, but the emotions they show
are raw and so real. It was very moving when the person got up and stormed out, she had the
ability to leave and the discrimination would stop, unfortunately in the real world people do not
have that ability. I feel like this experiment should be done in all schools to open up people’s
eyes to what is wrong in our world. I really do not know what it will take to open people’s eyes
and to encourage a change that is much needed. Hopefully, sometime in my generation things
will change, so when I raise my children these ugly discriminations will not exist.
