1. Dear Friends,
We have much to be thankful for. Many blessings and blessed moments have been bestowed upon us. As we go forward I share with you
these words:
The Reverend Kealahou C. Alika
Keawala’i Congressional Church
Dear Kahu,
Years ago we had breakfast together. The power of the church to heal and empower the human spirit was impressed upon me. Years have
passed and the voices of the people have grown stronger. Advocacy and activism continue to change the landscape and bring new awareness
to matters that have been dormant and have not been addressed with clarity and resolve. My heart and spirit is warmed by the participation of
many in matters that impact on their daily lives, today, tomorrow and will do so for generations to follow. My heart and spirit is burdened and
saddened as matters progress the dissention and separation between our people grows as well. Events have raised the consciousness of our
people and differing approaches to seek solutions have created many factional approaches. By analogy, on a smaller scale, this situation is
much like the separation of the Church to the denominations we have today. All is good as the force of unification is one God. For us on earth,
there seems no overarching and prevailing force of to resolve these earth matters. We are free to express our will.
As the season of Thanksgiving and Christmas approaches, peace, goodwill and respect among all people should be themes and practices to be
embraced by our people here in Hawaii and carried forth to our friends across the seas and our neighbors the world over. To be forgiving, to be
accepting of change for the better and to shared each and every day the spirit of peace, goodwill and respect should be the common anthem in
our daily lives.
The power of the Churches to carry forth the theme of the season and the common anthem for daily living has no boundaries.
Your insight and manao is appreciated.
By extension my thoughts are shared with Senior Pastor Elwin Ahu of New Hope Metro where I worship.
