Bandy Tablets (Generic Albendazole Tablets)
Warnings
Albendazole tablets have been shown to cause bone marrow suppression and therefore
blood counts should be performed at the start and every two weeks during each 28 day
cycle. Patients with liver disease, including hepatic echinococcosis, appear to be more
susceptible to bone marrow suppression leading to pancytopenia, aplastic anaemia,
agranulocytosis and leukopenia and therefore warrant closer monitoring of blood
counts. Bandy should be discontinued if clinically significant decreases in blood cell
counts occur.
Based on findings from animal reproduction studies, Albendazole Tablets may cause fetal
harm when administered to a pregnant woman. Embryotoxicity and skeletal malformations
were reported in rats and rabbits when treated during the period of organogenesis.
Patients being treated for neurocysticercosis should receive steroid and anticonvulsant
therapy to prevent neurological symptoms (e.g. seizures, increased intracranial pressure
and focal signs) as a result of an inflammatory reaction caused by death of the parasite
within the brain.

Bandy Tablets (Generic Albendazole Tablets)
Warnings
Cysticercosis may involve the retina. Before initiating therapy for
neurocysticercosis, examine the patient for the presence of retinal lesions.
In clinical trials, treatment with Albendazole Tablets has been associated with
mild to moderate elevations of hepatic enzymes in approximately 16% of patients.
These elevations have generally returned to normal upon discontinuation of
therapy.
This medication can cause liver problems. Since drinking alcohol increases the
risk of liver problems, limit alcoholic beverages while using this medication.
Patients should be advised to inform their doctor or dentist about all the
medicines they take including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and
herbal products in case of surgery. Liver function tests must be obtained
before the start of each treatment cycle and at least every two weeks
during treatment.

Warnings
Undiagnosed neurocysticercosis may be uncovered in patients treated with
Albendazole Tablets for other conditions. Patients with epidemiologic factors who
are at risk for neurocysticercosis should be evaluated prior to starting therapy.
Symptoms associated with an inflammatory reaction following death of the
parasite may occur in patients receiving Albendazole treatment for
neurocysticercosis (e.g. seizures, raised intracranial pressure, focal signs).
Patients should be advised to inform their doctor or pharmacist if they are
allergic to Bandy; or to other Benzimidazole anthelmintic drugs (such as
Mebendazole); or if they have any other allergies.
This medicine may contain inactive ingredients, which may cause allergic
reactions or other adverse effects. Also inform your doctor or pharmacist your
medical history, especially of: liver disease, biliary tract problems (such as

obtained before starting therapy or therapy should be started

Bandy Tablets During Pregnancy
Based on findings from animal reproduction studies, Albendazole Tablets may
cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. However, available
human data from a small number of published case series and reports on the
use of multiple-dose Albendazole in the 1st trimester of pregnancy, and several
published studies on single-dose Albendazole use later in pregnancy, have not
identified any drug-associated risks for major birth defects, miscarriage, or
adverse maternal or fetal outcomes.
In animal reproductive studies, oral administration of Albendazole during the
period of organogenesis caused embryotoxicity and skeletal malformations in
pregnant rats (at doses of 0.10 times and 0.32 times the maximum
recommended human dose based on body surface area in mg/m2).
