Lupimeb Tablets (Generic Mebendazole Tablets)

Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) is a
deworming medication for humans which is used for
the treatment of patients two years of age and older
with gastrointestinal infections caused by: Ancylostoma
duodenale (hookworm), Ascaris lumbricoides
(roundworm), Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm),
Necator americanus (hookworm), and Trichuris trichiura
(whipworm).
Lupimeb tablets has also been used to treat infestations
due to Strongyloides stercoralis (threadworm) and
Taenia solium (large tapeworms).

Active Ingredient
The active ingredient present in Lupimeb
tablets is Mebendazole. Each tablet
contains 100 mg of Mebendazole.

Mebendazole Tablets – Brand Names
Mebendazole is available under various
Drug trade names that include Emverm,
Vermox, Mebex, Lupimeb, Helmintol,
Wormin, Mebazole, Raid, Sta, Zumin,
Mebenth, Exit, Levasol, Zumin , Sandin,
Acavom and D Worm.

Uses of Lupimeb Tablets
Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) is used to treat
Common roundworms (ascariasis), Hookworms (ancylostomiasis,
ecatoriasis, uncinariasis), Pinworms (enterobiasis, oxyuriasis) and
Whipworms (trichuriasis).
Mebendazole is used to treat infections caused by worms. It works
by keeping the worm from absorbing sugar (glucose), so that the
worm loses energy and dies.

Lupimeb Tablets Dosage
The recommended dosage is administered orally, with or without
meals. The amount of medication that you are prescribed depends on
the strength of the medicine. Also, the number of doses you take each
day, the time allowed between doses, and the length of time you take
the medicine depend on the indication for which you are using the
medicine. The dosage of Lupimeb tablets (Generic Mebendazole
Tablets) is given below:
For common roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms:
Adults and children 2 years of age and older-100 mg twice a day,
morning and evening, for 3 consecutive days. Treatment may need to
be repeated in 3 weeks.

Lupimeb Tablets Dosage
The dosage of Lupimeb tablets (Generic Mebendazole
Tablets) is given below:
For Pinworms: Adults and children 2 years of age and older-
100 milligrams (mg) once a day for 1 day. Treatment may
need to be repeated in 3 weeks.

Contraindications
Lupimeb tablets are contraindicated in persons with a
hypersensitivity (allergy) to Mebendazole or any of the other
ingredients of this medicine.

Storage Instructions
Lupimeb tablets (Generic Mebendazole tablets)
have to be stored at controlled room
temperature i.e. from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to
77°F) with excursions permitted between 15° to
30°C (59° to 86°F).
Keep this as well as all other medicines away
from children and pets.

Warnings
Risk of Convulsions: Convulsions in infants below the age of one year have
been reported.
Hematologic Effects:There have been rare reports of Neutropenia and
Agranulocytosis when Mebendazole was taken for prolonged periods and
at dosages substantially above those recommended. Monitor blood
counts in such patients.
Metronidazole and Serious Skin Reactions: Stevens-Johnson
syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS/TEN) have been reported
with the concomitant use of Mebendazole and Metronidazole.
Concomitant use of Mebendazole (Lupimeb tablets) and Metronidazole
must be avoided.

Warnings
There is no evidence that Mebendazole, even at high doses, is
effective for hydatid disease.
Concomitant treatment with Cimetidine may inhibit the metabolism
of Mebendazole in the liver, resulting in increased plasma
concentrations of the drug.

Effects On Ability To Drive And Use Machines
Lupimeb has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Hence they are not likely to affect you being able to drive or use any
tools or machines.

Side Effects
Generic Mebendazole Tablets (Lupimeb) Side effects reported in clinical
trials were anorexia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea,
vomiting and rash.
Although not all of these Lupimeb side effects may occur, if they do occur
they may require medical attention. Inform your doctor immediately if
any of the following side effects occur:
Rare Side Effects: Black, tarry stools, chills, convulsions, cough or
hoarseness, dark urine, fever with or without chills, general feeling of
tiredness or weakness, hives or welts, itching, or skin rash, large, hive-like
swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex
organs, light-colored stools, lower back or side pain, nausea and vomiting,
painful or difficult urination, pale skin, redness of the skin, sore throat,

Side Effects
Inform your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:
Rare Side Effects: sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth,
unusual bleeding or bruising, unusual tiredness or weakness, upper right
abdominal or stomach pain, yellow eyes and skin
Incidence of Side Effects Not Known:
Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin, diarrhea, difficulty with
swallowing, dizziness, fast heartbeat, joint or muscle pain, red skin lesions,
often with a purple center, red, irritated eyes, tightness in the chest

Overdose
The following adverse reactions have been reported rarely in
patients treated at dosages substantially higher than recommended:
alopecia, reversible liver function disturbances, hepatitis,
agranulocytosis, neutropenia and glomerulonephritis.
With the exception of agranulocytosis and glomerulonephritis,
these also have been reported in patients who were treated with
Mebendazole tablets at standard dosages.

Overdose
In the event of accidental Generic Mebendazole overdosage, the
possible signs and symptoms are abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting
and diarrhoea may occur. There is no specific antidote to treat Generic
Mebendazole (Lupimeb tablets) overdose. Activated charcoal may be
given if considered appropriate.
If you are taking this medication for a long time, laboratory and/or
medical tests (e.g., complete blood count, liver/kidney function tests)
should be performed periodically to monitor your progress or check for
side effects. Consult your doctor for more details.

Lupimeb Tablets During Pregnancy
Mebendazole (Lupimeb tablets) are classified by the US
FDA as Pregnancy Category C.
In animal reproduction studies, adverse
developmental effects (i.e., skeletal malformations,
soft tissue malformations, decreased pup weight,
embryolethality) were observed when Mebendazole
was administered to pregnant rats during the period
of organogenesis at single oral doses as low as 10
mg/kg.
