Locations for the film
1. Locations for the Film
In our short filmwe plan to use several different locations, including the moors, a home, and
a graveyard.
The Moors
We will be shooting on the moors to obtain footage for the
beginning of our film, where the character Richard is driving
along the moorland road and notices Eve huddled on a rock
at the side of the road. The road is long and winding in some
parts, and the moorland is on the left hand side of it. On the
right hand side of the road, there is a dry stone wall with
sheep fields behind it. The moorland is vast to create a
sense of Eve being lost, and as you can see from the
photographs below, there are many rocks we can choose
from for Eve to sit on. We will choose the precise location
on the moor on the day of filming because it will depend on
many variants such as parked cars and the amount of traffic
on the road, both of which could affect the quality of our
filming.
2. A home – Katie’s house
we will be shooting the scene’s that take place at ‘David’s house’ at Katies house in Baildon.
These scenes include the ones where Eve gets out of the camper van and runs inside, when
Richard knocks on the door to get his coat back and also when David has invited Richard in
for a chat.
Katie’s house has been chosen to filmin as she has permission from my parents, and it is
also somewhere that is easy for our actors and crew to get to. However, the decor doesn’t
quite fit a man who is living alone, so Katie has added into the script that Eve actually
designed the decor and David can’t bring himself to change it. On the day of filming we will
also add some general mess to give the impression that David is lost and distant from the
world, and doesn’t keep things tidy now that it’s only him. This will also help to create the
impression that Richard’s visit is unexpected.
3. A graveyard – St John’s Church
We need a graveyard setting to filmthe last scene of our short film. We have researched
into grave yards in the local area and decided that St John’s Church in Baildon would be the
best one to use because it is a small graveyard in front of a church, making it appear
somewhat familiar and special to David, yet strange for Richard because it’s so local but he
never knew Eve was buried there. The fact that the graveyard is in front of church also
connotes that the death of Eve was innocent, and there’s nothing sinister going on in our
film because we feel that our narrative fits the genre of psychological thriller better than
horror.
