ABSTRACT
The ever increasing carbon emissions from the automobiles all around the world has forced the
incorporation of novel , more sustainable means of non–conventional fuels for the automobiles like
the hybrid cars , solar vehicles , the use of gasohol and alcohol based fuels is also considered as an
alternative for the conventional fuels and also the development of solar electric hybrid vehicle.
There are a lot of possibilities and feasible solutions for lowering the carbon emissions from
vehicles.

The trap oxidizer development in Greece is one of many scientific research done to reduce vehicle
emissions. The carbon dioxide capture using nanostructured membranes is also another way to
check the vehicle emissions. In this method single gas separation experiments were carried out using
silica modified membranes to study the behavior of individual gas permeation at different pressures
and temperatures.
1. Working of nanostructures membranes in capturing CO2 emission.
Design and fabrication of porous membranes comprises of many layers of different materials
namely: Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3), Titanium Oxide (TiO2), Zirconium Oxide (ZrO2), Silicon
Dioxide (SiO2), Silicon Carbide, Zeolite, or a mixture of two materials applied on an underlying
porous stainless steel. The manner in which gas molecules flow is generally influenced by three
factors: The gas properties, morphology of the membrane and the material used for membrane
design. The technology is environment friendly, quite economical and efficient. It is applicable to all
forms of CO2 removal from other gases. Nanotechnology is being greatly used in this method of
carbon capture. Since 2003 vehicles have been built with on–board communications network

4. The Economic Characteristics Of The Global Motor Vehicle...
) The economic characteristics of the global motor vehicle industry are very complex. It takes a lot
of effort and a lot of moving parts to ensure continued and successful grow. For a company to
maintain good economic characteristics a company must continually set out to grow their business,
they must have a defined buyers, number and scope of their direct and potential rivals, product
development and innovation, supply/demand relationship, technological change, knowledge and
experience of the vehicle and global markets, economies of scales, and value vertical integration. All
of these characteristics are vital to success in the global vehicle industry. As mentioned above, the
first economic characteristic would be to grow their business and market size. These companies
either expand domestically, but most importantly internationally. When expanding internationally
most companies seek to enter in developing counties because of the potential future benefit. Tata
motors has excelled at this tactic because they gained a humongous presence in their home country
and then expanded to developing countries such as Africa, ––––––,––––––––,–––––––––. The
second example of characteristics of a global motor vehicle company would be defining their
buyers. Tata has set itself apart from it competitors by offering affordable cars to the middle–income

In the last few years, Tesla Motors, Inc. is growing rapidly. Tesla has more than three thousand
employees in December, 2012. [3] And the number has been increased to six thousand in January,
2014. However, the relatively high price of Tesla electric cars cannot be ignored. Average customers
cannot afford such a car that is priced more that $70,000. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors, Inc.,
gave the opinion that Tesla is trying to eventually offer electric vehicles that are affordable to most
consumers. [4][5] A mature model under $40,000 is expected by 2017. [6][7]
Under such cases, some research on the famous Tesla Motors, Inc. and its electric vehicles will be
conducted in the paper. The study mainly focuses on whether the electric vehicles made by Tesla is
really more environmentally–friendly as what people heard about. And will it cost too much in daily
use? Although many people assume such electric cars can pollute less, a few people have another
theory that such kind of vehicles isn?t as environmentally–friendly as what people expected. In a

industry has experienced several changes due to internal and external factors. External factors were
such as the effects of Great Recession and following credit crunch, which has made it hard for
consumers to undertake loan for vehicle purchasing causing a slowdown in depend, which was
further compounded by uncertain economic conditions. Since vehicles are dependent on gas, the
industry overall has been influenced by oscillating price of gas. Certain vehicle manufactures did
not foresee a change in trends, that the times of high prices, consumers were looking for more

Blower Motor Problems on GM Vehicles
Back in the 70s and 80s blower motor problems on General Motors Corp. vehicles were almost
unheard of. However, they did require a lot of electrical energy.
In an effort to increase the efficiency of the climate control systems General Motors has
experimented with some cutting–edge technologies. Unfortunately, the fallout has been a large
amount of vehicles with common blower motor problems. I guess I 'm saying these systems didn 't
age well.
Here I'll cover four specific issues that are extremely common on cars and trucks from Chevrolet,
Pontiac, Saturn, GMC and Buick automobiles. Keep in mind for Chrysler owners I have a specific

You can jump 12 V to the positive side of the motor and it should run. I recommend that you leave it
fully installed when you run this test because the spinning squirrel cage can cause injury. If the
blower motor works it 's time to check some voltages at the module.
There 's a power wire that comes from the control panel. On most models it 's either red or purple.
This power in wire should turn on a test light with the ignition on and maximum speed selected. The
black wire should indicate a strong ground. If you have a good ground and verified power into the
module, yet have no electricity flowing to the blower motor you probably have a bad module.
In many cases when I find the problem with the GM blower motor module I also find signs of
moisture in the heater case that contains the motor and module. If the AC condensation drain
becomes blocked you 'll wind up with water flowing into the HVAC case. The blower motor module
is close to being the low point and will wind up sitting in a bath of water.
If you wind up replacing this part go the extra step and make sure that the condensation drain is
clear on your AC evaporator. Also make sure your old blower motor spins freely and isn't starting to
bind. I have some final thoughts on the blower motor module failure situation. In an effort to
streamline the manufacturing process and keep costs down these parts are in a tremendous amount

If your car is six years old or less, however, you may not need the certificate. Many auto shops and
mechanics do the testing, and they usually advertise it prominently. They can do this relatively fast
for you. Or, you can go to a smog–check station, but be sure and check with either the DMV or
other smog testing center to see whether your car needs to go to an official smog check station or a
STAR facility. Your DMV documents will tell you which testing center you need to go to. Typically,
older vehicles (1976–1995) will have to go to the STAR facility, and the later model ones can
usually get the certificate from any smog–check station. The California Bureau of Automotive
Repair site will also help you determine where to get your vehicle smog tested.

18. Tesla Motors : An Electric Powered Luxury Sport Vehicle Essay
transortation Tesla Motors created the most innovative advance in car manufacturing in the last 13
years, an electric powered luxury sport vehicle. Before 2003 the world thought that only gasoline
cars could be marketable, profitable, and useful. The founders of Tesla Motors, Martin Eberhard, Ian
Wright, Marc Tarpenning, and Elon Musk did not believe that the only way to make a sports cars
was for it to be gasoline powered. They wanted to make a car that would not only be able to
compete with luxury sports cars, like Ferraris, but would also be electric powered. All of the
founders had substantial amounts of capital which allowed them to actually follow through with
their plan of creating an all–electric powered sports car. That first car was the Tesla Roadster. The
roadster was unveiled in 2006 at a Hollywood event, and within two weeks 127 were sold. Even
though production had issues, by 2008 Tesla had created an electric vehicle that adhered to their
plan of creating a luxury sports car. The roadster was incredibly fast, stylish, and cost next to
nothing to run. It uses an "alternating–current induction motor" rather than a "direct–current electric
motor that relies on permanent magnets" (MIT Technology Review, 2008). Tesla chose AC
induction motors "because they are simple, reliable, and efficient at a wide range of speeds" (MIT
Technology Review, 2008). Tesla created an all new electric motor that could be better suited for a
high–speed performance car. This paired

20. Causes Of Motor Vehicle Accidents
The Complex Role Introduction In the U. S., injuries that are related to motor vehicle accidents are
responsible for the death of more kids and young adults than any additional one cause alone (The
Community Guide, 2014). Additionally, automobile collision is the major reason for death due to
injury for individuals of every age (The Community Guide, 2014). Roughly 33,000 individuals lost
their lives from being in an automobile accident in 2010 (The Community Guide, 2014). This equals
to 90 individuals every day. Also, a million other received injuries from motor vehicle accidents that
were not deadly, according to the Community Guide (2014). Each year the expenses associated with
motor vehicle accidents is over 99 billion dollars in lost of production and medical expenses (The
Community Guide, 2014). The federal, state, and local government all play a role in the prevention
of motor vehicle accidents. Federal On October 15, 1966, the Department of Transportation was
enacted by Congress (U. S. Depart of Transportation ([DOT], 2015). It was on the first of April in
1967 that the DOT began its first day of officially being in operation (DOT, 2015). According to the

This paper deals with the different motors used in the hybrid electric vehicles. The performance like
the efficiency of induction motor, internal permanent magnet motor and switched reluctance motor
is studied. In recent years permanent motors are often used for driving HEV. This paper compares
the characteristics of Permanent Magnet (PM) motor with Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) and
Induction Motor (IM) and gives us prospects for future development of HEV using these motors.

They also use regenerative braking that converts kinetic energy of the vehicle into electrical energy
that charges the battery rather than wasting that energy in form of heat energy as conventional
brakes does. The HEVs produces comparatively very less emissions from its ICE than a gasoline
car. Many HEVs reduces emission by turning off the ICE at idle situation and then restarting when
needed.
This paper compares the characteristics and performance of IM, SRM and interior permanent
magnet drive motor (IPM). HEVs were not widely available until the launch of Toyota Prius in 1997
in Japan, which was followed by Honda Insight in the year 1999. The data related to design for IPM
is taken from the report on Toyota Prius HEV 2004 [1] and the comparison done with IM uses same
design of the stator. Mostly it is said that PM motor are the best match for the HEVs in terms of
performance and efficiency. This is despite that induction motors and SRM have been used in cars
like Tesla and General Motors. Also the SRM and IM have an advantage over PM motor in terms of
manufacturing cost and durability. SRM is the perfect magnet free alternative as suggested in [2]
and offers zero field coasting and controllable flux. Hence, the IM and SRM offer more flexibility of
controlling flux.¬¬

Problem Statement:
Motor vehicle accidents are one of the leading causes of death in the United States, and are the
leading cause of death in children aged 13 and under [1]. In 2015, 220 per one million children
under the age of 4 were involved in fatal motor vehicle accidents [1]. In addition to motor vehicle
accidents, improper uses of Child Restraint Systems (CRS) in cars are known to cause an increased
risk of injury. Targeting the specific aspect of children being incorrectly fastened to their car seats
could possibly prevent injuries and/or deaths due to motor vehicle accidents. These deaths are a
topic of concern due to that fact that children need more protection in vehicles than adults do.
According to PennDOT, children under age four must be securely fastened in a federally–approved
child passenger restraint system (CRS) [2]. However, there are multiple studies and statistics that
show that many families do not know how to correctly use a child car seat. A Canadian study, which
observed more than 13,000 children, noted that approximately only 90% were using car seats. Of
these, only 60% were using the correct type of car seat, with only 20% of those aged four to eight
years old using booster seats [3]. A Manitoba study found that approximately 70% – 80% of families

Within a veterinary forensic science textbook issued in 2008, noted that motor vehicle accidents are
difficult to differentiate from non–accidental injury due to lack of data on injuries known to be
caused by physical abuse. While analyzing passed studies, researchers knew that motor vehicle
accidents involving dogs showed that the most common injuries are comprised of long bone
fractures, pelvic fractures, soft tissue injuries and lacerations at the extremities, skeletal injuries. In a
study conducted by veterinarians in the United Kingdom about non–accidental injuries, found that in
the 147 suspected cases of non–accidental injuries in dogs could be misunderstood as motor vehicle
accidents, for there was only 1 pelvic fracture, but 21 cases with skull fractures and 23 cases with
fractured ribs. With this information in their hands, that they were able to come up with a new study

Motor Vehicle Manufacturing in Australia
INDUSTRY ANALYSIS
Overview
Thomson (2003) explains that the manufacturing of motor vehicles is a global game. Thomson
(2003) argues that Australia does not really have domestic businesses that manufacture motor
vehicles as the three major car makers (GM Holden, Ford and Toyota) are all subsidiaries of foreign
companies. However, this is not the case, GM Holden for example produces many cars a year in
Australia for Australian consumers as well as engines for export.
Industry Attractiveness
The Ibis report (retrieved 1 August 2010) shows that the motor vehicle manufacturing industry in
Australia is a $11.8 billion industry where 19,025 are employed. The industry is said to grow ...

Midterm Paper: Motor Vehicle Accidents Motor vehicle accidents are undesirable occurrences in
which an individual or multiple people are injured or killed in or by a vehicle. These accidents can
occur due to a variety of factors including, texting while driving, speeding, drunk driving, driving
under the influence, and reckless driving. Accidents affiliated with motor vehicles accounted for
36,161 deaths across the United States and 316 deaths throughout New Mexico in 2015.1 When
compared, this meant that in 2015, there was a rate of about 10.9 deaths per 100,000 people across
the United States, which is less than the 15.1 deaths per 100,000 people in New Mexico.1
When looking at the groups of highest risk, males are found to be involved in more motor vehicle
accidents than females in every age group.2 Of these age groups, individuals between the ages of 15
and 24 are killed in more motor vehicle accidents than any other category in both New Mexico and
the United States as a whole.2 Among groups categorized by race and ethnicity, Native
Americans/Alaskan Natives have the highest motor vehicle death rate in New Mexico.3 Native
Americans/Alaskan Natives also have the highest motor vehicle death rate across the United States,
higher than Caucasians, Asians, African Americans, and Hispanics.4 These points conclude that the
group at the highest risk of being killed in a motor vehicle accident are Native American males that

49. General Motors : A Motor Vehicle Company
Company background General Motors (GM) is a motor vehicle company that is involved in
designing, manufacturing, marketing, and distributing vehicles and vehicle parts. The company
began in Flint, Michigan with founder William "Billy" Durant in 1908. Durant's philosophy and
strategy was to "[build] a car for every purse and purpose" that would change the world of
automobiles and transportation for consumers. General Motors entered the global market in 1982
beginning with Zaragoza, Spain and slowly branched out to 35 other countries all across North and
South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Thirteen brands that General Motors produces
vehicles for are Alpheon, Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Holden, HSV, Opel, Vauxhall, Wuling,
Baojun, Jie Fang, and UzDaewoo. General Motors proceeded to follow along with technological
advances and economy friendly automobiles through series of hydrogen powered fuel–cell vehicles
and gas efficient cars.
In June of 2009, General Motors Corporation filed for bankruptcy, and later rebirthed as General
Motors Company in July 2009. As a smaller, leaner, and more focused company than GM
Corporation, the four brands kept under the GM name are Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac.
The company's top markets by sales are China, the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and
Germany. General Motors Company has always been a well–known name in the automotive
industry, and is still around today.

51. Motor Vehicle Accident Lawyer
Were you recently rear ended or otherwise the victim of a car accident? Are you considering hiring a
motor vehicle accident lawyer to sue for medical expenses or to get reimbursed for a new car? If
you've never been involved in a lawsuit before, the process can seem complicated and scary. Here
are some questions to ask your lawyer to make sure you understand what's going on: How do you
charge? If you aren't able to afford a motor vehicle accident lawyer out of pocket right now, you'll
want to find a lawyer that will only get paid if you win your case. Lawyers who accept cases on a
contingency basis like this will take a percentage of your awarded damages, usually around 1/3rd of
your settlement. On the other hand, if you have a very strong ... Show more content on

Whether or not a lawyer charges an up–front fee has no bearing on whether you'll need to pay any
court fees. Not only are there fees for filing the case itself, but things like subpoenas may require
additional money. If money is tight, many jurisdictions offer reduced or waived fees for hardship
cases. A good motor vehicle accident lawyer will be able to explain the process to you. If allowed by
the court, he or she will be able to file on your behalf to have the fees waived. What areas of law do
you specialize in? Lawyers, just like doctors, specialize in different things due to the complicated
nature of their work. If there was a motorcycle involved, whether or not you were the one on the
motorcycle, you want your motor vehicle accident lawyer to be as familiar with motorcycle law as
possible. If you were rear ended, you'll most likely want an attorney who specializes in rear end
accident cases. How often will we discuss the case? A good motor vehicle accident lawyer will
provide at least weekly updates, even if there is nothing to report. They may do it over the phone, or
you might agree to do it by email. Crucial information should obviously be relayed as soon as it's
received by the lawyer. Your first meeting should also be with the lawyer himself or herself and not
one of their paralegals or other staff members. A paralegal or other employee may be able to file

As new technologies develop and become mainstream over time, there needs to be specific
regulations in place. It is best if these sets of regulations are developed and maintained
independently from battery manufacturers, automobile manufacturers, and/or suppliers. Currently
today there are many bodies that maintain these standards. A few of them include UL (Underwriters
Laboratories), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), NEMA (National Electrical
Manufacturers Association), SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), UN (United Nations), IEEE
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards or Japanese
Standards Association), GB (Guo Biao or National Standard for the People's Republic of China), US
DOT FMVSS ( Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and Regulations), and BATSO (Battery
Safety Organization). These organizations set the standards to help minimize safety risks which
include but are not limited to fire, explosion, and shock. These standards are in place to try and
assess the safety risk associated with these new technologies and to help engineer them to be safer.

Recently, studies have showed that motor vehicles are the causes of pollution and climate change.
Some may argue that the governments should not do anything to solve this problem, however, I
believe that the governments should take action to regulate automotive emissions and enforce public
transportation. Motor vehicles release too much carbon dioxide, we should decrease the amount of
vehicles on the road, and more people should use public transportation instead of using their own
vehicles. Motor vehicles that have failing emissions release too much carbon dioxide into the air.
This is why motor vehicles in most states in the United States require all motor vehicles to have an
emissions test. We have motor vehicle emissions tests

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA, 2016) who wrote that the "Click it

Association of Chiefs of Police, First Vice President Jim Kruger stated that "The Click It or Ticket

who do not use their seat belts." After this campaign, ninety–four percent of drivers in Illinois use
seatbelt when in a vehicle, and because of this approximately 63,000 lives have been saved (Lyles,

rearview camera. According to Tori Tellem, a contributor to edmunds.com wrote an article about the
most popular safety features in cars today (2009). The camera is placed on the rear of the car just
above the license place to ensure that drivers can see everything that is behind them. The positioning

It's a fact, commercial vehicle use around the world is expanding, both in the developed and
developing world. It is debatable whether the use, and more specifically ownership, of a passenger
vehicle is a need, or a want, but before we consider the implications surrounding this debate, we
need to discuss what these terms mean. Needs are things such as food, water, shelter, clothing, sleep,
and comfort that are necessary for human survival. Wants are things that may increase a person's
feelings of self–worth, self–fulfillment, independence, and personal potential. Note that defining

It was also found that fuel consumption and emissions were 20–45% higher during rush hour traffic
than in steady traffic conditions. Stopped traffic, especially during commute times, is not only a
frustration to drivers, but to business and corporations as well. Each year, traffic tie–ups are
estimated to result in 1.2 billion hours of lost time, with productivity loss equal to approximately
$30 billion in the United States alone. On top of that, an estimated 2.2 billion gallons of gasoline are
also lost. One way that rush hour traffic can be reduced is through car pooling, or car sharing. An
initiative in Portland called "Car Sharing Portland" (CSP) has been shown as one way to effectively
reduce road traffic. Car sharing is when a group of individuals or businesses share their cars with
other members, who primarily use these vehicles for short, local trips. As a result of CSP, 26% of
members sold their own personal cars, and 53% were able to avoid purchasing their own vehicle.
This is only one of many innovative solutions that have been shown to be effective in reducing
traffic congestion and unnecessary motor vehicle ownership. When the true costs of commercial
vehicles are considered, it is easy to find solutions that can be beneficial both for you, and the
environment.

67. Self Driving Cars : The Benefits Of Self-Motor Vehicles
Autonomous Vehicles

Ms. Catherine Gorman Abstract
Technology has always found a way to push humanity forward. The next big leap is Artificial
Intelligence, and robots taking over certain tasks from humans. More specifically, autonomous
motor vehicles taking over for human drivers. Are self–driving cars the future, or a pipe dream?
There are some concerns with the idea of self–driving cars, such as the loss of work for professional
drivers or the complete loss of control within one's own vehicle. However, the benefits we see in
turning away from human controlled automobiles far outweigh the negatives. Loss of life,
increasing medical and insurance costs, and long travel times can be decreased drastically by
removing human error from driving motor vehicles.
With more than 30,000 deaths in the United States annually coming from motor vehicle accidents,
we should be doing more to prevent car crashes. Motor vehicle accidents amount to billions of
dollars per year in medical costs, insurance premiums, loss of work and property damage. There are
also mental and emotional issues faced by the victims, such as loss of loved ones and moderate to
severe injuries. Of all vehicular accidents, we find that the majority are the result of human error.
According to Mark Rosekind, from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "Ninety–
four percent of crashes can be tied back to a human choice or error. Ninety–four percent!"

automotive brand into a new market: middle–income buyers" (Kiley). While the all electric vehicle
is similar to its predecessors, the Model X and the Model S, the Model 3 is significantly less
expensive. The Model 3 is $35,000, while the Model X is priced at about $75,000 and the Model S
at approximately $135,000 ("Car and Driver"). The target consumer sales market of this vehicle is
the entire middle class and millennials. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, is working to produce a
significant number of vehicles in a limited amount of time, so an affordable, yet energy efficient
vehicle can be available to every strata of the middle class, as well as to environmentally conscious,

Introduction The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is a branch of the state government that
conducts license and vehicle registration for the state's four million drivers (Dresang, 2012). The
organization's mission is to provide excellent customer service through administering motor vehicle
services and promoting road safety. Currently, the DMV is confronted with customer service
challenges because of congested offices, increased wait times, and inefficient facility workflow,
which results in dissatisfied customers. Therefore, the state agency must implement kiosks into its
service centers, within two years, to enable one–stop processing for drivers to register online and
receive assistance from staff. This implementation report develops a detailed plan to execute this
strategy–implementing kiosks at DMV service centers–to improve the performance of the
organization. In developing the plan, this report considers the necessary resources, stakeholder
support, and risks associated with the implementation of kiosks. Additionally, this report develops a
project management plan to finalize the entire implementation process, including the time and
execution of critical tasks. As a result, the DMV improves its performance, streamlines the in–

The automobile dates back to the later part of the 19th century when Henry Ford made the first car
for the common man. The middle class could go wherever they wanted to go, whenever they wanted
to go at a reasonable cost (Automobiles). An era of speed and travel, the demand for transportation
boomed. An affordable and faster way to get around, owning an automobile became a reality for
most citizens living in the middle class. The "Big Three" automobile producers of the time were
General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford. The automobile "allowed new production methods, charting
new territory in mass, and creating and supplying burgeoning domestic and international markets"
(Coopey). Motor vehicles in the 1920's had a positive effect on the world in the 20th century as it
does in the current day. Automobiles brought much satisfaction to the world in the early 1900's. The
