My subject and person that I chose to perform this movement is Carolyn Gardner, 12–year–old
beginner basketball player in the sixth grade. She is on the junior varsity team and this is her first
time playing basketball on a team. This is her first time playing any team sport. Right now she is
learning the basics and having a hard time focusing but that is expected being her first year. The
reason I chose Carolyn is because since this is her first time playing basketball on a team and her
first sport, there is no muscle memory developed as of yet. I can analyze her foul shot and

The methods of data collection I will use to analyze Carolyn's movement skills in the fouls shot are
a digital camcorder recording of sagittal plane of her dominant side, also frontal plane view. I will
use Coaches Eye, a video recording application. Three times will be recorded for analysis. I also will
physically record on a chart. My limitations will be the environment because I will have to conduct
this analysis outside of a gym, so I will not have a basketball hoop but I will have a goal for Carolyn

For my second observation I went back to my elementary school from when I was younger and
observed a second grade physical education class and their teacher Mrs. McFarland. It was a rainy
day so the lesson was held in the cafeteria. I observed Mrs. McFarland teach the first lesson of
basketball to her class, before class she told me that this would be the first lesson of a 6 part lesson.

Crestwood, Illinois. On April 23, Shepherd played against Bradley High school and Shepard won

career advancement and self–betterment was often considered selfish and self–centered, and Lucille
Ball was one of the women to prove that stereotype wrong. With so little women at the time in the
workplace and drastically fewer women with upper–level positions, Lucille Ball stands out. It is not
a secret that Lucille Ball was one of the first significant female actresses of her time, but the
importance of that role is one that is often overlooked. Not only did Lucille Ball defy traditional
domestic roles off–screen, but the character Lucy on I Love Lucy, was also untraditional in terms of
the 1950s mindset. While Ball is merely looked at as a hilarious television star, the importance of
her humorous personality is also valuable. In the 1950's, the airing period of I Love Lucy, a woman's
traditional place in the world was not one of humor and comedy. A woman's role at that time was
cooking and cleaning and caring for her husband and children, along with maintaining a beautiful
physical appearance. An example of such perfection for the time is the character June Cleaver, from
Leave it to Beaver. June was the epitome of a perfect woman for that time. Perfect hair and outfit,
always cooking decadently, faultlessly cleaned house, all topped off with curlers in her hair and a

lacked economic independence, sexuality, voice, or presence of her own, and her identity was

Conservation is the ability to understand that as an object changes form, it does not change the
overall amount or mass. In Piaget's theory, he describes that during the pre–operational stage of
development children are often incapable of understanding the concept of conservation, the ages in
this stage generally range from 2–6 years old (Siegler & Alibali, 2005). It isn't until the concrete
operational stage that children have the ability to understand conservation. During this stage
children range from the ages of 7– 12 years old. In order to observe the changes in between stages, I
chose to administer Piaget's conservation of solid quantity to two different children. The task
administered was to see if the two children would be able to see a transformation when I rolled out
one of the two balls of clay. Piaget illustrated a stage model that explains the different stages of
development starting at birth and continuing to twelve years old and onwards. In the task that I will
be conducting it involves two of the four stages. The first stage is the pre–operational period. During
this time children are exhibiting egocentrism as well as using symbolic representations, such as
symbols or using signs. When children are in the pre–operational stage they do not have the ability
to see transformations, instead they focus on fixed states. It is not until the concrete operational

New Zealand. The short story was first published in the Weekly Westminster Gazette, then later

centers on young Leila who has moved from the countryside to the city and is attending her first ball

participant. She has likely turned 18 recently and is transitioning into adulthood.
The old man, a sore reminder of Leila's future, attends dances without shame. When Leila remarks
that it is inspiring for him to still be going on, he tells her that she has no chance of lasting as long.

class, and gender roles in the 1920s. Katherine Mansfield uses many symbols to get her message
through: it is not necessarily wrong to see the world through the eyes of a child every once in a
while, and you should enjoy the moment even though there will inevitably be an end to it.
