• Use the chat area for questions. If you do not see the chat bar, click on
the green bar at the top of the screen and select chat.
• When using the chat tool, you can either send a message directly to me or
to the whole group. If you have questions, please direct them to the

• Materials Needed:
– PowerPoint Presentation loaded on your
computer
– Microphone
– Speakers

Plug in your microphone, and click “Set Microphone Level…”

As you read the sentence, the computer will automatically set the level of the microphone.

Click OK to begin recording your presentation.

• Once you click OK, the PowerPoint
presentation begins.
• Go through the presentation just as you
normally would, talking into the microphone
as you do the presentation.
• Remember to talk slowly!
• The narration will be recorded along with all
of your animations.

• When you finish the presentation:
• Make sure to click Save so that the slide times
are kept and all the narration will occur at the
correct time in the presentation.

Sorter View.

• In Normal View any slide with a narration will have a
microphone icon in the lower right corner.

• Save vs. Save As
– If click Save, then will save in the current file.
– If click Save As, then can rename this presentation
as the narration version and still keep the original
version without narration.
– In Save As, also have different options for how it
will be saved.
19. PowerPoint Presentation – This will save the
presentation with a new name with the narration. Staff
will have to click on Slide Show to hear the narration.
PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentation – This will save the
presentation with a new name and the narration and allow
people with an older version of PowerPoint to open it. Staff will
have to click on Slide Show to hear the narration.
PowerPoint Show – This will save the presentation with a
new name and the narration and automatically open in Slide
Show mode to hear the narration.
PowerPoint 97-2003 Show – This will save the
presentation with a new name and the narration and allow
people with an older version of PowerPoint to open it. It will
automatically open in Slide Show mode to hear the narration.

Sending to Staff as E-mail
• Save As: PowerPoint Show
• Send As: E-mail attachment
• When staff open the
attachment it will
automatically open in slide
show mode and they will
hear the narration.

• Blogs give you the ability to create your own
newspaper, with articles you decided are
necessary for your staff.
• Creating a blog allows you to write new
updates whenever something new or
important is announced.
• It gives you one place to direct staff (or
parents, students or whoever else) about all of
the articles/posts.

• Terminology
– Posts – Articles written by you for your
“newspaper”
– Comments – Replies left by readers of your blog.
These can be turned on or turned off. You as the
owner of the blog have the ability to decided how
these function
– Subscribe – Allows readers to have notifications
sent to them when you post a new article.

• RSS Reader creates a customized newspaper
with different articles that you choose.
• Gives you the ability to collect information
from many different blogs and websites into
one place.
• When you want to check all of those different
websites, all you have to do is open your RSS
Reader.
