2. Improvements…But More Still Needed
• According to WHO the maternal mortality rate of
Brazil is 110 deaths per 100,000 live births.
• According the Brazilian Government however, the
number is more around 50.
• Underreporting may have caused the confusion
over the exact number but it’s still to high.
• 300 committees were put in place recently to
take more accurate statistics and provide reasons
for maternal deaths.
