2. My Philosophy…
I believe that life is better when you can enjoy
your best health. Good health is purposeful and
requires compassion and conscious attention. A
healthy life is an individual journey of smart
choices according to your personal needs based
on evidence-based science. It includes attention
to stress, restful sleep, physical activity and
consuming real food. When you achieve a life
filled with joy, purpose, gratitude, and the
pleasure of enjoying nutritious food, family and
friends… life is good.

3. WOW – Wellness on Wheels
WOW is a business plan
that I entered in the UMKC
Bloch School of Business –
Regnier Venture Creation
Challenge.
The objective was to deliver
wellness activities in a little
trailer to area workplaces for
planned, monthly themed
activities delivered by
subject experts. Examples;
cooking demos, flash mob
fitness, amazing race and/or
ask the doc, etc…
My business plan was
selected to be a finalist
in the competition!
4. The Amazing Race
A team building program to get people moving! Teams of staff
from American Century were instructed to solve the clues to
get through a series of challenges requiring problem-solving
and navigation skills, with collaboration and speed to be the
first to cross the finish line!
5. Variety Dance Shows…
This team building program is a Broadway dance show.
Staff from Sprint were provided with a choreography
coach, a few costume accents. They learned to lip sync
and dance to an assigned song to perform for all
employees.
6. Women’s Wellness Concerts
It’s all in a year’s work… I produced
Women’s Wellness events featuring
exercise celebrity, Richard Simmons.
My work involved:
• managing event needs
• layout exhibitor space
• manage venue usage
• hired vendors for lights, sound
• stage design
• wrote and managed promotions
• provided the production schedule
• worked with area health providers for
educational breakout sessions.
And, I produced Richard’s contract rider
and deliverables.
7. T-Ball Trivia
This healthy team building program took place at Kauffman
Stadium. Staff were assigned to 2 teams. Then presented
with questions based on corporate objectives. If you could
answer the question correctly, you had a chance to hit the
ball and take the bases, unless you were tagged out.
8. Health Fair Exhibition
KANSAS CITRUSCITY
This is our booth at the wellness health fair
for the employees at Cleveland Chiropractic
College. We were featuring citrus and
provided ideas for it’s uses with a
newsletter. A contest for the completing a
crossword puzzle about citrus with a Plaza
banner for the grand prize. We also ran a
“girl on the streets” video that showcases
our day at the farmer market. Our reporter
asked consumer funny questions about
citrus and their answers were very
entertaining. Guests received a walking
map for the Plaza fountains and smoothies.
9. Jessica Harthcock on TV4
Jessica Harthcock is a walking paraplegic. She suffered
a fractured L5 from a gymnastics accident and after 4
years, taught herself how to walk again without
assistance. She has no feeling in her legs and if you
didn’t know about her condition, you’d never know. She
came in town to speak to others with spinal injuries, offer
encouragement and owns a organization that helps
patients find resources for their recovery.

15. Wellness Academy

16. Health Screenings…
I researched, planned and designed a series of screening programs
in response to our Health Interest survey results from our patient
community. This is the information that we provided on the website
and in an email broadcast.
17. Screening Programs…
Hormones can be analyzed several
ways, we concentrate on the 5 with the
greatest impact on women’s health.
Since adrenal glands take over sex
hormone production as we age, this is
another extremely important test. We
will address the root cause of your
hormonal imbalance to determine a long-
term solution that meets your specific
needs.
Hormone issues can be a result of many
factors such as chronic stress, poor diet,
bad digestion, deficient detoxification,
toxic environment, lack of sleep and
others.
Some of the symptoms of
hormone imbalance include:
Irregular bleeding
Breast tenderness
Fibroids
Moodiness
Food cravings
PMS symptoms
Weight gain
Nights sweats
Adult acne
Thinning hair
Fatigue
Painful intercourse
Memory loss
Brain Fog
18. Syphilis – Community Health

SYPHILIS Cathi Horton 2/27/2013
In Europe at the end of the 14th Century
a sexual scourge was making history,
the cause of which was quite a mystery.
Throughout Europe, Asia, China and Africa,
it is believed early explorers brought it to America.
It’s a social disease, an infection caused by Bacterium,
It spreads person to person and can lead to delirium.
So when you see someone special, and want to score
just make sure you don’t come in contact with a sore!
In 2011, 72% cases of syphilis is,
started with men sharing some kisses.
Rashes and sores can last 3 to 6 weeks,
appear rough with red spots that even may leak.
55,000 new cases are reported each year,
about 15% have not been treated, symptoms disappear.
10 to 30 years after the infection began,
you can have paralysis, blindness & dementia – oh, man!
With just a blood test, you can be sure,
antibiotics from the doctor are a simple cure.
Avoid liquor, drugs and risky sexual behavior,
use a condom, be smart and do your partner the favor.
The surest way to avoid transmission,
get tested, talk it over before you get in that sexual position.
19. Elf on Health Contest
Elf on Health is a take on the
infamous Elf on the Shelf…
A contest to see who can
make the holidays healthy
by making a few small
changes for big rewards!
Participants received by email, weekly challenges
for food, activity and spirit. Each week they
reported the points earned for the week and the
winning team took the grand prize!
20. Video Clip Intro…
Frank Ferrante, the subject of “May I Be Frank?” and made a guest
appearance at Your Wellness Connection’s movie premiere. This was
his introduction video that I put together for event promotions.
21. Mindfulness…
I completed a course at Mayo School of Health for
Mindfulness, which essentially teaches you how to train
your brain to purposefully choose thoughts instead of the
random chatter that constantly plays. I took our lessons
and put them into a rolling slide show for my final project.
22. Another mindfulness lesson
I continue to use these with stress relief class and coaching,
to help us focus our attention on intentional ideas.
23. The Power of Ten
One day I was talking with Dr. Robin and I was
explaining how I think the world could be changed by 10
people, sharing with their top 10 and so on… She loved it
and this is the video I made for her promotion to put the
idea into practice at Your Wellness Connection.

26. That’s all folks!
Those are the highlights from over 10 years worth of
work. My entire career has been based on teaching,
improving mind, body & spirit in the variety of positions
I’ve had the privilege to be of service.
This obviously is not all the work I’ve led and
participated in. There are surveys, press, media,
newsletters, email campaigns and a thousand
decisions that led to new objectives, goals and
accomplishments. It has been my pleasure to enjoy
all the opportunities to learn and grow.
