NHS Trusts and CCGs to improve their ‘referral to assessment’ and ‘referral to treatment’ waiting times.

Demand for CAMHS services is at an all-time high. Recent NHS England data shows C&YP
referrals have increased 47% in four years.  Furthermore, 50% of children and young people
once assessed, are waiting more than 18 weeks to start treatment.

Co-designing is about getting ALL the right people around
the table - front line clinicians, NHS Trusts, CCGs, Third
Sector and any other partners that are involved in
creating care pathways. It has also been extremely
beneficial in our work, to encourage service users and
their families to get involved in the creation process.

At the heart of the Healios offer is a unique online clinical platform, staffed by experienced and fully qualified
clinicians.  The service is extremely flexible, and available when users need it most, 85% of our sessions run
between 3.30pm and 8.00pm.  The solution provided by Healios can be tailored, meaning it can be scaled to
local demand.
Creating care pathways with these learnings at the heart of our thinking, has helped
deliver some amazing results across the NHS.

The family had been waiting months for their initial mental health assessment and was experiencing a huge amount
of stress and worry, as their son was showing increasing signs of mental health difficulties. The local CAMHS team
was overstretched with limited capacity to meet the growing demands on services.
Upon receiving a referral from the CAMHS team, Healios immediately made contact with the family to begin their
initial mental health assessment. A qualified clinical psychologist from Healios, conducted a comprehensive
assessment with the son and the family. All from the comfort of their home, at a time that best suited their lifestyle
and circumstances. The difficulties presented during the assessment led the Healios clinician to suspect ASC.
Healios contacted the care co-ordinator who agreed with our recommendation to proceed with an ASC assessment,
in addition, the family also agreed and an ASC assessment started immediately.
The assessment service was wrapped around the lifestyle of the family, reducing the stress of accessing a service.
Due to the rapid access to assessment, alongside an immediate transition to a final ASC assessment, the family are
feeling more positive and hopeful as they now move forward on the next part of the journey as a family.

The local CAMHS team was overstretched with limited capacity to meet the growing demands on services. Upon receiving a referral from the CAMHS team, Healios immediately made contact with the family to begin their initial mental health assessment. A qualified clinical psychologist from Healios, conducted a comprehensive assessment with the son and the family. All from the comfort of their home, at a time that best suited their lifestyle and circumstances. The difficulties presented during the assessment led the Healios clinician to suspect ASC. Healios contacted the care co-ordinator who agreed with our recommendation to proceed with an ASC assessment, in addition, the family also agreed and an ASC assessment started immediately. Due to the rapid access to assessment, alongside an immediate transition to a final ASC assessment, the family are feeling more positive and hopeful as they now move forward on the next part of the journey as a family.
