To overcome this fear I’ve starting reading everything I can get my hands on that is related
to the course I’m taking, not just what’s suggested. Although I can’t really understand some
of the material I read, I still perceiver. Also, I have started working on my grammar and
vocabulary skills. I hope to be able to “talk the talk” when I receive my degree.

Shanece Wilson is one of my helpers
and one of my daughters. She is one of
my tutors on the computer and she’s a
hard taskmaster. When she’s tutoring me
I’m not momma, I’m a pupil. Shanece
doesn’t believe in coddling anyone, she
says that if you do that that person may
never reach their full potential. When her
daughter was born she had cancer in her
right eye. My grandbaby, Myrical, had to
have treatments and numerous surgeries.
Myrical has partial vision in that eye.
Shanece treats her no different than other
kids, she says when a child is born ill or
becomes ill people tend to treat them with
kid gloves. I believe because she has
treated Myrical this way my grandbaby
has surpassed the doctors’ expectations.
Like I said, she’s a hard taskmaster but,
she gives compliments too.
Dominique Hamilton is a very valuable
helper to me and one of my daughters.
I’m a caregiver for my mother and
Dominique will take her to doctor’s
appointments occasionally so I will be
able to do something else. Sometimes
she’ll bring dinner so I won’t have to cook
and she’ll relieve me sometimes if I have
to stay in the hospital with my mother.
Dominique supports my decision to go for
a college degree and always has an
encouraging word for me. She helps me
financially by paying for my medications. I
receive uplifting phone calls from her
regularly, she always ends the calls with”
I love you mom and I’m proud of you.” I
don’t think she knows just how much I
appreciate everything she does even
though I tell her all the time.

My Career Plan (Due Week 8)
Industry:
Write 100 words summarizing the research here that you have conducted about the
industry you are interested in. Note: Write about your selected industry, education required,
etc.
The industry I’ve chosen to work in is Office Administration. I would like to narrow that down
to becoming a Nursing Office Administrator but, if that’s not possible, I have many other jobs I
can choose from. I could take the route of General Office Manager or find a career in finance.
I will be able to work at a small business where I’m the only administrator or a huge
conglomerate where I’ll be a spoke in a very large wheel.
The educational requirements for the majority of these jobs is a Bachelors Degree. Some
management experience, decision making capabilities, and being a problem solver are great
skills to have but, they’re not required. Also, some working knowledge of the company you’re
going to be working in and it’s purpose can go a long way towards getting the job.
Position:
Write 200 words discussing the position you want to be working in within the industry
you have selected. You may choose more than one position in this section. Note: What are
your reasons for choosing this position? What you have found out in your research regarding
income potential, education requirements, and other considerations in selecting this position(s).
Becoming a Nursing Office Administrator is my chosen career path. I have been a nurse for
over 20 years and now I want to branch out and leave the physical part of nursing behind. I
chose Nursing Administration as my way to do this for the same reason I became a nurse-I
want to help people in my family and community. I can’t remember a time in my life when I
didn’t feel this way.
The educational requirements of this position is a Bachelors Degree. Although management
and decision making skills are wanted, they’re not necessary. There are certain duties this
position requires me to perform, some of these are: managing the nurses and other
employees that report to me, performance evaluations, overseeing inventory, and hiring.
The starting salary for this position is $115,000-150,000.
Having a Business Administration Degree will give me the capabilities to work in other areas
of the business world, such as finance. There are many options to choose from in the
6. CATHERINEWILSON 6
financial field. Financial Office Administrator, Actuary, Financial Counselor, and Financial
Analyst are all careers to be had with a Bachelor Degree in Administration. There are a few
jobs to be had without a degree but, its not many. The salary for these positions range from
$108,000 to $160,000.
Level:
Discuss the target level of seniority you wish to achieve in your career and the steps you
will take to reach that level.
I would like to work in this field, Nursing Office Administration, until my retirement. I’d like to
start off by working for a small company to get some experience under my belt. Hopefully I’ll
be able to prove myself a valuable employee so that I can earn a upper level position. When I
reach a position that is as high as I can get in the company I’m with I’ll have two options, I can
continue with the same company and negotiate a larger salary or I can go to a larger
company with more opportunities for promotion.
