Sp2750 Inc Case Study Summary
In Raef's search for viable project members, he was short on time and needed to figure out which of the 11 members he should choose. The most
important qualities that Raef should have been seeking were technical experience, capability to work efficiently in small teams, resonate for better
results, all the members with prior project experience, and find the most abstract minds that he could – to ensure multiple outstanding viewpoints. For
this project, it seems like all of the members should be innately interested in the progression of the project and be actively seeking ways to improve
and propel the productivity. The first person that would be selected is Elroy Bennett, who was the best suited candidate from the requirements and was

Another aspect to consider would be whether or not any of the potential candidates would be able to compromise on a solution or decision on what
should be done in the project, and if all of the members will be able to respect Raef's decisions.
The only biases in the case would be the pressure that Raef's manager Jonathon placed on him. The fact that Raef's manage was trying to influence his
decisions makes an obvious bias to who Raef might consider asking onto the team. The other would be selecting one person over another simply
because they had been with the company longer, which would suggest that only people who have been with the company would have the privilege of

A Research On Plastic Pollution
Throughout my research on Plastic Pollution I learned that plastic is a material that our planet cannot digest but it has become the lubricant growth of
globalization. Thus, Plastic is made from oil that contains many chemicals harmful to humans and animals. Humans are barely aware that Plastic is so
part of our lives that it can be found in everyday products that we consume and even the food we eat. Humanity plastic foot print in the oceans has
caused a major garbage path located thousands of miles off the coast of California, called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. This is caused due to humans
that throw their waste into the sea and went those plastics are in the water, it breaks down into smaller particles; then pushed by winds, tides and
currents, plastic particles form with other debris into large swirling glutinous accumulation zones. For instance, The World Economic Forum (WEF)
report stated that if we keep producing plastic and improperly dispose of it, there will be more pound of plastic debris than fish by 2050 because we
have been made three times more plastic stuff since we did in 2014. The dangers of over–produced plastic, is that much of it escapes from collection
systems that end up floating in the ocean than into the stomachs of marine birds and sea turtles. This is very alarming to me because we are killing
thousands of marine's lives and its ecosystem by over producing plastic.
However, I learned that it's never too late to decrease the amount of

Reflections on my Plant Engineering Summer Internship at United Parcel Service
Introduction
My Plant Engineering (PE) internship experience at United Parcel Service (UPS) allowed me to utilize all that I have learned at Florida Polytechnic
University and apply it to real–world work experience. Thus expanding upon my previous knowledge while simultaneously allowing me to grow in
new ways that cannot be taught in the classroom. Interning at UPS has helped highlight my fortes and flaws as not only an engineering student, but also
as a young adult entering the professional world. Through firsthand daily coaching and mentoring from senior engineers, I discovered that
communication is the key to being successful as an individual and as a team. Encouraging social cognizance provides a necessary balance within a
company.
Getting the Job An INROADS alumni told me about an organization called INROADS and encouraged me to go online and apply for their paid summer
internship program. INROADS is a non–profit company that focuses on "developing and placing talented underserved youth in business and industry,
and prepares them for corporate and community leadership (INROADS, 2011)." The organization is currently expanding their STEM program. So, my
Florida Polytechnic education along with their internship program was a great match. The program is highly selective with a rigorous application
process. Of more than 11,000 applicants just over 1,000 earn internships

group projects is the process of brainstorming. All members in the group have different ways of understanding and to make sure each member in
the group is in the same page, require a lot of effort. I even like the way group interaction takes place. We usually form a group with people who we

The Organic Foods Selection Between Ten Projects
INTRODUCTION
This case–study exanimate the Organic Foods selection between ten projects, totaled €208 million. However, evidence suggest that the Organic sales
have been static since 1990, the managers needed to introduce more new products to expand the market presence and boost the company sales.
Although the Organic Food board of directors limited the capital budget from € 80 million. The challenge of this case is the selection and allocation
of the "scares" funds among those compelling projects.
This paper will be divided in three section. The first section will be discussed about the possible threat of the hostile takeover. The second part will be
discussed about the financial analysis of the projects the potential problems comes with it and it will consider the division of the projects in the
aggregate project plan. Finally, the third part will provide recommendations of the projects to select to the Board of Directors, followed by some
comments and implications in the conclusion section.
HOSTILE TAKEOVER
The potential threat of hostile takeover and the importance of 1993 for Organic Foods
A hostile takeover is a situation in purchase and sale transaction which take place against the will of the board of directors of a purchased company
(Puziak and Martyniuk, 2012). In Organic Foods, the sales have been static since 1990, the management attribute this to the low population growth in
northern Europe and market saturation in other areas.

Intern Projects
Below I have compiled a quick list of all the projects that I worked on while I was at Garmin AT and my role in the project. All the proprietary
information has been removed so some details may be intentionally vague.
Major Projects
Flight Data Logging – Gathered flight data from many parts of the system in 1 second intervals. Built a page that would allow exporting of this data to
an SD card by the end user.
WAAS Data Logging– Gathered WAAS data as it was being sent to our system and stored the information in its own logs. Also allowed exporting of
this data to an SD card by the end user.
Dynamic Debug Page – I created the page to allow debugging messages from the system to be toggled on or off by ... Show more content on

Obstacle DB Integration – I wrote the requirements for the integration of the obstacle database for the system I was working on.
Mock up UI Options – The pages I created all had to be accessed from other pages. Because of this we had to do a review of how the pages would
look after I had changed them to ensure they still met Garmin standards. I had to adjust the size of some icons, text, and move buttons around. In many
cases I submitted multiple different possible layouts for the changed pages so that our UI team could pick the option that looked best.
Wiki Pages – Created a wiki page for new hires and interns on our team to show them how to use the GIT repo our team had. This shows how to get
it set up and how to use the features of GIT that were used on the team I was on.
Main Project Details
Probably the single best project that describes my internship is the data logging project. This was a project that I was given almost a month after I
started but also lasted until almost the end of my internship. This was also one of the largest projects I worked on that I can discuss in enough detail to
explain why it describes my internship.
This was a great project for any intern or new employee because of the amount of exposure that it gave to the codebase. It required pieces of many
different part of the Garmin libraries as there was a lot of information that went into the logs. Because of this, I had to gain more understanding

O Ahu Case Study
The rail that is currently being built on the island of Oahu is still under construction and is experiencing an 18 months delay due to lawsuits and cost
overruns. The last thing that this island needs right now is another thing that contributes to the heavy traffic. The rail project has been in motion for
quite some time now but there is still little to no evidence of it completing any time soon. The reasons why the rail has not yet to finished is because
of fiscal issues and decrease of values.
The rail that is still under construction is becoming a problem on the island of O'ahu, especially to taxpayers that continue to struggle because of the
high taxes."The project was initially projected to cost $4.6 billion, but that number now is $6.7 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of an elevated railway, HART should have considered a ground–level train that could avoid further destroying the aesthetic value of the island
and possibly shave millions of dollars off the cost of the project, and that could have allowed the city to build a longer train system(Hao). "While it
is understandable why an elevated system might be utilized in rural areas of the transportation corridor ... a host of adverse economic and
environmental impacts are associated with an elevated guideway system, including noise, reduced visibility and access to businesses, visual blight,
and increased crime," Kamehameha Schools wrote the city. Kamehameha Schools is the largest land owner on the island and is concerned about
the impact the rail will have on the island not just for the value of the land but the value of their religious beliefs. "We feel we have a kuleana to
respond to the (responsibility) ... as a landowner with ancestral ties to the lands" (Kamehameha Schools). The Hawaiian's ancestral ties with the land
is a big deal. In their religious beliefs, the land in a way is a part of their family and family should not be harmed in any way. The elevated railway
could also lead to less tenant interest, higher tenant turnover, and reduced property values. Because of the unsightly and noisy rail, the value of
properties and tenants for apartments would drop

Electrocution Occupational Hazard
Electrocution as an occupational hazard isn't limited to electricians. According to OSHA, electrocution is responsible for one of every ten deaths in
the construction industry. This commonly happens when a ladder or the worker on it accidentally contacts a power line. This occurs in a number of
ways such as: A ladder contacts a power line while it is lifted into place, moved sideways, or taken down. A ladder on unstable ground topples onto
power lines. Ladders displace other conductive objects such as antennas onto power lines. Workers on ladders accidentally contact power lines while
using a long–handled tool. Because power lines are invariably near roads, houses, and buildings, construction workers of all kinds must exercise caution

Essay about Christo and Jeanne-Claude: The Artists
Christo had once said "The work of art is a scream of freedom." Christo is a sculptor who had worked with his wife until her death in 2009. Christo
had financed all of his projects himself. He had raised money by selling small paintings he had created. But his main works of art were giant
wrappings of different things. His favorite wrappings were buildings or places seen everday by people. By wrapping these places he was giving them
a new identity. Christo has undertaken many projects. One of the most well known was of the wrapping of the Reichstag in Berlin. They used thick
woven polypropylene fabric with an aluminum surface which was 1,076,390 sq feet.
Also used 9.7 miles of rope. They only used recyclable materials as is the same for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2007 and 2008, Christo and Jeanne–Claude contracted professors of engineering from Many different Universities feasibility studies about The
Mastaba.
The artists then hired the German engineering firm, to analyze these reports. They found a concept that was the most technically sound and innovative.
The entire substructure as well as the layer of barrels will be assembled flat on the ground. Ten elevation towers will make it possible to raise the entire
structure on rails to its final position. Another project that christo is still working on is the Running Fence. The Fence is 18 feet in height 24.5 miles
long it extends east to west near freeway 101, north of San Francisco on the private properties of 59 ranches following the rolling hills and dropping
down to the Pacific Ocean at Bodega Bay. The Running Fence was completed on September 10, 1976.
The art project consisted of 42 months and because it was a project that was not just in one are like most of Christo's the collaborative efforts the
ranchers' participation, 18 public hearings, three sessions at the Superior Courts of California, the drafting of a 450–page Environmental Impact Report
and the temporary use of the hills, the sky and the ocean. All expenses for the temporary work of art were paid by Christo and Jeanne–Claude through
the sale of studies, preparatory drawings and collages, scale models and original lithographs. The artists do not accept sponsorship of

The information for sizing the server infrastructure is gathered from existing server utilization for the applications supported. The amount of servers
selected for implementing the environment is based on projected cpu and memory needs to support the users. As part of projecting resource needs,

Severity of Impact – The severity of the impact is considered medium. If user application performance is negatively affected, the users will not be able
to meet their daily expected workload. In other words, users will not be able to complete their assigned tasks timely.
Risk Response – This issue can be mitigated by deploying additional server resources to support the end users. To improve performance, a group of
users would be moved back to the original vpn access until the performance of the published applications is considered acceptable. At that point the
amount of additional server resources needed can be projected and deployed to support the total user load. Once these additional server resources have

It helps to look at the software as a framework that can be modified in hundreds of different ways to support your organization's culture. If you have a
disciplined organization with projects that are well defined and stable, you can implement many system capabilities relatively quickly to streamline
and simplify formerly manual processes. However, if your organization is new to the field of project management, you might have to introduce system
features in several phases so that the learning curve is not too steep. Another factor, which could be considered in planning the scope and phasing of
your implementation are the history and type of project. (informit.com) There are so many different types of project management software that runs on
desktop or notebook computers can perform these tasks easily and quickly, can enable a project leader to plan and control implementation tasks, and
can help a team install a new system on time and within budget. Examples of project management software solutions include SAP, Agile, Microsoft

Personal Statement Of Engineering In Electronics And...
It is no doubt that Engineering plays a vital role in our society. This is magnified in a time when the world is faced with so many significant problems
– climate change, population density – to name just two. It is for this reason that I am so excited about the prospect of studying Engineering,
especially at the point of so many major advances in technology, in AI and nanomaterials for example. In the future, I hope to help to lead these
advances and solve these problems.
My interest in building projects first started when I began studying Electronics in Year 9. I remember the joy I felt after making some Christmas
lights flash in different patterns. Though it was simple, seeing how I could genuinely make physical changes to my own home brought me great
pleasure. As I became more knowledgeable in Electronics and Engineering, I began building far more impressive projects. In Year 11, I assembled and
coded a quadcopter, for which I was awarded a CREST Gold award. During the course of Year 12, I made a facial recognition system using a
Raspberry Pi and open–source libraries. These projects have showed me the practical aspects of Engineering, particularly in how important it is to be
able to troubleshoot. [more detail] [A book quote, e.g. as X says in Y ; ''].
Another major project I have worked on recently involved building a suite of different LEDs that can have features such as its flicker rate and
intensity configured to a very precise level. This formed part of a larger research project investigating how animals react to types of light. The
project, done as part of a Nuffield Research Placement was very different to my previous ventures as it involved dozens of different people with a
wide range of skillsets. I found that this project developed not only my ability to work as a team [example], but also showed me how research works
at the PhD level.
Of course, I understand that Engineering is not just about building projects in the garage and I have been actively seeking to gain a more diverse
appreciation of what constitutes Engineering. I recently attended a four day Headstart course at Warwick University which proved to be an
enlightening experience because of the amount of new material that was covered,

The General Overhead And Construction Projects Essay
In the past, the general overhead in construction projects was not important compared to project costs. However, with the new construction
environment and its changes such as the high usage of lean, BIM, and LEED, everything has changed. Nowadays, most of the construction contractors
are measuring their general overhead costs and trying to control it. To gain profits, they started to allocate their general overhead costs to different
construction projects they are working on. In this paper, we investigate how a construction company (general contractor) manages its general overhead
costs. Preceding this stage, we should provide few definitions of the general overhead costs in order to give readers a deep insight of what this paper is
about. Moreover, it is essential to explain how construction contractors allocate their general overhead costs to construction projects, what methods
they tend to use for allocating, and what advantages and disadvantages does every method have. Further, we shift our focus to activity–based costing
method by defining it and describing its steps. Since the main purpose of this paper is to examine how construction contractors deal with their general
overhead costs, an interview should be conducted to know how contractors allocate general overhead cost to construction projects to get profits. Indeed,
each construction contractor may use a specific method when allocating. Due to our interest in estimating, the interview was conducted with a senior

Background:
In considering which contracting method to use the employer will need to assess his own particular institutional and technical strengths and
weaknesses (including access to financing). Each method of contracting affects in its own way the allocation of responsibility and the demands on the
employer for co–ordination of the project. Through the proper allocation of responsibility for the project to reflect these strengths and weaknesses, the
employer can rationalise the price of the contract against his exposure to project risks. The employer's first consideration will be to identify the design

Massachusetts and resulted in a 62% decrease in vehicle hours of travel and reduced the afternoon peak hour by a massive 85.6%.
The highway planning of the Big Dig started in 1982 with the actual construction starting in 1991. The Big Dig was initially planned to be
finalized in 1998 with the estimated total cost of 2.8 billion (7.8 billion adjusted for inflation to today's dollar value) but due to cost overruns,
design flaws, criminal arrests and even one death the construction of the highway was delayed. After all the delays, the Big Dig was finally
completed in 2007 at a cost of 8.08 billion (20.5 billion in today's dollar value). After the Big Dig was completed, it cost nearly 21 billion dollars, had

Essay on One Step at a Time on Littering
Unaware animals, including those way out in the ocean, get a ring of death wrapped around their throat from human actions. Even simple actions like
throwing a can of soda into a bush beside the road or in a neighbor's yard can eventually affect wildlife in the sea. As a whole, littering is basically
depositing an item where it does not belong. Although there isn't a person who hasn't littered, it needs to stop before it gets out of hand.
Surprisingly, some people think littering is okay. This is not the case; there are far too many consequences. They argue that since everyone does it,
why shouldn't they? Or what difference could one person make? Another claim is that biodegradable items, such as bananas and paper towels, are okay

A simple action like throwing an empty water bottle out the window penalizes the world for hundreds of years. Littering impacts the economy.
According to the University of Southern California, 100,000 marine animals are entangled, suffocated, or cut by rough edges each year. The majority
of these cases could have easily been prevented, just by throwing trash away. Litter originates on land, where eventually it migrates to a waterway, and
then into the ocean where it ensnares wildlife. Most of this trash goes into one of the five 'gyres' (a giant ocean based whirlpool) throughout the world.
The largest, commonly known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP), is located between Asia and the United States. According to National
Geographic, there are approximately 1.9 million pieces of plastic per single square mile in the GPGP. The ocean debris can disrupt the food chain:
Plankton is threatened, which results in fish starving. This not only puts sharks and larger marine animals in danger of starving, but it also closes
businesses throughout the world. As more fishing industries are shut down, more individuals become unemployed, which results in a weak economy.
Finally, and most tragically, wildlife is killed by trash. As stated by West Virginia University, "Every year, millions of birds, fish, and animals die from
litter." Many factors contribute to the demise of these animals. First, as mentioned above, marine mammals can be caught by discarded waste and slowly

In the years of 1960 to 1970, Albert Humphrey an analysis technique called SWOT, stands for strength, weakness, opportunity and threat, he led a

According to the World Bank, PPP broadly refers to arrangements, typically medium to long term, between the public and private sectors whereby
part of the services or works that fall under the responsibilities of the public sector are provided by the private sector, with clear agreement on shared
objectives for delivery of public infrastructure and/ or public services. PPP has the ability to link the expertise in the private sector and the control in the

Later the 4 projects were put on hold after the Ministry of Communications reviewed it and decided to bring it under the government purview. The
projects include metro and rail scheme and PTB had taken steps in preparing them for the private sector. If the ministry doesn't approve the project then
it would be a great blow to Kuwait which wants to attract private sector and new technology to the country. The metro and rail would become the
largest private sector projects if they get approved. The MPA (Mega Project Agency) designs and implements the infrastructure projects in Kuwait.
In 2008 a new BOT (Build–Operate–Transfer) law was passed as Kuwait recognized the requirement to attract foreign investors and start the
development plan. BOT is the method through which private sector would be involved in mega projects under the Kuwait development plan. The
new law was a model of PPP according to which, the private investors would build and operate for a fixed time frame and benefit from the revenue
streams. In Kuwait time frame was usually 20–40 years after which it would be transferred to the government. Despite all the optimism, the
government did not sign any BOT contracts and 31.4% projects or $61.2 billion worth of projects were held or called off. Promises by the ministers
and senior officials became a routine in the media with the private investors frustrated in investing. The main challenges facing private investment in

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Intermodal...
Intermodal steel shipping containers have been put to use for various things when they no longer cross the high seas. Generally retired shipping
containers are used as storage containers or are turn into building construction site mobile offices. A current trend gaining strength in the architectural
community is transforming steel intermodal containers into the basis for homes and light business construction applications.
Fortunes of a construction development using an innovative approach are influenced by the research done at the front end of the project. Here we will
take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of implementing shipping containers as part of your building.

The intermodals will examine containers and condemn them if broken welds, twisted frames, or pin holes are identified. For use in construction, some
issues could be less significant than others.
Handling
The size and weight of the containers will require them to be placed by the crane or forklift. Traditional brick block and lumber construction materials
are commonly moved by hand
Chemicals
A container can hold a wide variety of freight while in its working life. Spills or contamination might have happened on the inside surfaces and will
have to be cleaned before habitation. Ideally, the paint on every internal surface should be removed to bare metal and re–painted with a non–toxic paint
product. In addition, chemicals released from paint and sealants used in manufacture of the shipping container might be harmful.
Temperature & Humidity Extremes
Steel is a conductor of heat. Containers used for human occupancy in an area with extreme temperature variations will need to be better insulated than
most brick, block or wood structures. In temperate climates, moist interior air condenses against the steel; rust will form unless the steel is well sealed
and insulated.

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
Since the introduction of plastics in the early 20th century, waste production inland has accumulated at an ever–increasing rate. Improperly disposing
of waste washes through inland waterways, which eventually carries the waste into the ocean. The north pacific garbage gyre spans the majority of the
area. The physical gyre stretches from the coast of Japan to California. Four different currents maintain the circular motion of the gyre, which
encapsulates large amounts of debris in the center of the gyre, known as the convergence zone. All of these components lead to the term most call as
the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch". The unfortunate locations of the world's oceans, downhill and downstream of humans, allow plastics, chemicals and
any form of pollution to follow natural transportation directly into our oceans.
In 1869, John Wesley invented the celluloid, the first plastic product to be given a name. In 1909, Bakelite is introduced to the chemist club in New
York as the "first thermoset plastic", meaning that once the plastic mold was set it was set for life. Everywhere we look there are plastics, we have
become so accustomed to their presence that we can hardly remember a time when they did not serve our needs. Remember, there used to be a time
where our cars, plates, furniture, and airplanes were not made almost entirely of plastic. Roughly 100 billion pounds of plastic pellets are used every
year by the United States, and current figures from India and China are

Construction Of The Construction Project Essay
1.
Cost: when we are looking at the cost of the construction project we have to look through and have to consider all the stages of the design and the
construction project this is part of the specification. It is very important to have the cost estimator involved right from the start of the project to ensure
that the project budget reflects the decisions made by the project construction team throughout the integrated the design process.
2.
Quality standard and legislation: quality is the part of the contractor manager to ensure that products and service comply with requirements. It is a work
method that facilitates the measurement of the quality characteristics of a unit, compares them with the established standards, the analyses the
differences between the results obtained and the desired results in order to make decisions which will correct any differences. The legislation is the
rules that are set on the construction project. Rules apply to projects in parts to prevent clients from avoiding the requirements of the regulations by
simply dividing projects up.
3.
Health and safety issues: if you want to make sure everyone is safe on a construction site you have to sensibly plan the work so the risks involved
are managed from start to finish. You have to have the right people for the job to make sure everyone is safe. Have the right information about the
risks and how they are being managed and lastly consult and engage with workers about the risks and how they are

I Am An Elder Son Of A Real Estate Banker
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE I am an elder son of a real estate banker; my father is always busy with the analysis of construction project budgets. He
had his own library, with books ranging from construction estimation to procurement systems. These books are the seeds of curiousness inside me
about the buildings and the science behind them. My mother being a mathematics teacher, made sure I had a strong grip over that subject all through
my schooling. By the time I had to select my path into graduation, I was already inclined towards construction industry and opted for Architecture. It
was a challenge to get selected among one million applicants. I graduated from "School of Planning and Architecture, India", An Institute of National
Importance, among the top three architecture schools in India. It was my mother's mathematical nourishment which appreciated my chances of
standing in top 0.001% (All India Rank – 870) in All India Engineering Entrance Exam. I was eager to contribute to the body of knowledge in
construction industry and searched for the direction which can add value to the system. India being a developing country with world's second largest
population, construction resources are very important. I have observed a lot of scope for growth in the commercial sector and felt that thrifty
approaches towards generic construction problems in commercial sector are to be modulated. Frugal construction techniques interested me and were

project scope is determined, while the requirements or conditions the system must confer to or achieve determine the projects constraints. The third
step in a preliminary investigation consists of fact finding techniques, that involve the analyses of charts, interviews with users, managers and review of

Removing Plastics From The Pacific Garbage Patch
As an introduction, Stone explains what a garbage patch is and how the Pacific Garbage Patch as formed. He then focuses on "Project Kaisei"
which was a project set up to test ways of removing plastics from the Pacific Garbage patch and disposing of them safely. They found that the larger
pieces were easy to remove, but the smaller pieces posed a problem. These methods included dragging nets and places trash reciprocals need areas
with high concentrations of plastic that could be picked up later. The next step is to find an environmentally friendly ay to dispose of the collected
plastics. One of these methods if called pyrolysis and works by turning waste into oil and other energy forms without using combustion. This process
could account for 85% of the plastic currently in the Pacific Garbage Patch. Furthermore, a pyrolysis system could be mounted on a ship and taken
directly to the garbage patch and loaded with plastics by other boats. Unfortunately, these are expensive systems. A cheaper option would be to
concentrate the sun's rays and highly concentrated UV lights to excel the natural beak down process. The problem with this method is that it still
leaves micro plastic in the ocean. According to Stone, some want to just leave the garbage thinking that it is a better alternative to landfills. Lastly,
environmental activist think that we need to prevent the problem at its source and stop manufacturing such large quantities of plastic. Moreover, we

Being organized will help you so much throughout middle school. The main reason to be organized is because it will make you feel less stressed.
Let's say you just stuff homework in your backpack when your backpack is already full of papers, then the next day you will have so much stress
rummaging through your backpack for a single paper. Being prepared is essential. I have seen many people get written up or even a detention
because they forgot a book. Time management is key in middle school. If you get homework from every class and it is all due the next day, don't do
it all at 10:00 PM, this is single handedly the worst thing you can do in middle school. Also don't procrastinate. Now this falls under the same category
as time management, but this usually has to do with projects, not homework, Let's say Mrs. Delucia gives you a project to do over Christmas break,
don't wait until the last weekend before we come back to school to do the whole science project, If you do two things will happen, one, you will
have a stress filled weekend and that is not good. Number two, you usually won't get a good grade on the project because you rushed the project that
was meant to be done over a span of two weeks, and you decided to do it in two

How I Approach Program Development
HOW WOULD I APPROACH PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
Upon reading and reflecting the insight and knowledge gained from this case study my three values for a program development and strategic analysis
would be: a personal connection with the local population, minimizing hierarchy, and enforcing accountability and transparency in the organization. In
terms of who I would work with, I favour the idea of working in a smaller organization. I would accept funds from multilateral organizations, not the
government, and I would be working at the local level. Working in a smaller organization at the local level allows for greater accountability and a
lesser chance of conflicting motives. As previously mentioned, smaller organizations may lead to exclusion. To prevent this I would be willing to work
with like–minded small organizations to divide the population. My main interest would be cultivating a relationship with the population. The personal
connection with the population is probably the hardest task because we are not all as willing as Roy to immerse ourselves in the community. This
relationship also relies on the population because they need to be willing to share and collaborate. This connection is the most important because it
allows for the strongest trust and the greatest understanding of the needs in the area that we are working. It also allows us to ensure that our
endeavours for the project align with our program. Having an extensive understanding the needs specific

During a SI team presentation, Kim described the details of a market research study to be conducted which Moore knew nothing of. Once again, this
clearly shows from JVI's poor and incorrect information of Kim's position, it allowed him to carry out inappropriate actions which he believed was
acceptable whilst treating Moore as any other SI team members, rather than a co–project manager.
Problem 2: Hierarchical issues and hesitancy to ask questions
The lack of understanding in cultural differences for the three North American consultants had caused occasional disputes with the Korean consultants,
and in many instances led the North American consultants into confusion.
In the Korean environment where Confucian values are deeply implemented, clients are treated with high authority from the hierarchical structure.
When trying to manage the expectations of clients, from the perspective of a North American consultant, this involves frequent communication and
interviews with the client to gain a thorough understanding of the client's system. However, due to Korea's hierarchical structure, the Korean
consultants refused to do this. It was common for the Korean consultants to accept any form of work from the client, even if it was beyond the scope
of the project. Adams and Moore felt powerless to stop this activity and became deeply frustrated, due to their lack of understanding in the Confucian
culture.
Adam's minimum knowledge in the importance of hierarchical status

The Importance Of A Successful Communication Plan
Communication plays a critical role on making sure the correct people will receive the information, what information will be communicated, how it
will be communicated, how often, and who will be responsible for delivering the message during a project. All communication plans will be according
to the needs of the project. Establishing a successful communication plan is one of the most important factors contributing to a successful project
(CA.gov, 2007).
When looking at the project communication plans from several organizations such as the Department of Agriculture (USDA), the City of Scottsdale,
and the Park Development and Acquisition we can see some similarities and differences on how their plans are developed. Some are more extensive
and detailed, and some are concise and to the point. Many of these differences are due to the need of the projects and who is involved.
Out of the three communication plans, the USDA is the shortest and least detailed. The USDA plan does not include a table of content, making it more
difficult for the reader to find needed information quickly. Both of the other plans, City of Scottsdale and Seattle Parks and Recreation, start their
communication plan using a table of contents, making it easier for the reader. The plan from the Seattle Parks and Recreation is the most extensive and
detailed due to the complexity of the project and length of it, with thirty–seven pages in length, while the other two are under nine pages.
All three

Essay on Sustainability at EastLink Engineering Project
Sustainability, which is the definition of "the process of using, conserving and enhancing a community's resources", plays a significant part in large
engineering projects such as EastLink. EastLink's long–term goal is to provide a fast, lasting alternative for drivers to commute between eastern
suburbs. For a project that had a final total cost of $2.5B, sustainability, that is ensuring that its relevance and usefulness to the society today and for the
foreseeable future is a pivotal part of EastLink. Permanent projects that demand large commitment and resources are the ones that need to heed the

Two significant decisions that have affected the EastLink project are firstly, the decision to develop EastLink as a tollway and secondly, an
environmental issue involving potential damage that would be caused to the nearby Mullum Mullum Valley.
EastLink was a multibillion–dollar project, and its funding stemmed primarily from the Federal government, however as the project progressed, the
Victorian Government switched to the stance that the EastLink project was no longer viable as a toll free road which subsequently led to the
termination of the partial Federal government funding for EastLink. The Federal government's reasoning being that it would only provide support
and funding for projects that were toll free, hence the Victorian Government's initial promise. The Victorian Government's decision to have EastLink
be a tolled motorway is one influenced by the operating and development costs of such a large civil project and is largely motivated by the financial
return of such a project. These concerns were later shown as EastLink made a loss of nearly $93M in its first six months of operation, the largest
reason being that being a tolled motorway, it would not attract as many motorists than it would've being a toll free road.
The second decision arose over the planning of the layout of EastLink, namely over the extent of environmental damage that would be caused

Sp2750 Inc Case Study Summary

  • 1. Sp2750 Inc Case Study Summary In Raef's search for viable project members, he was short on time and needed to figure out which of the 11 members he should choose. The most important qualities that Raef should have been seeking were technical experience, capability to work efficiently in small teams, resonate for better results, all the members with prior project experience, and find the most abstract minds that he could – to ensure multiple outstanding viewpoints. For this project, it seems like all of the members should be innately interested in the progression of the project and be actively seeking ways to improve and propel the productivity. The first person that would be selected is Elroy Bennett, who was the best suited candidate from the requirements and was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another aspect to consider would be whether or not any of the potential candidates would be able to compromise on a solution or decision on what should be done in the project, and if all of the members will be able to respect Raef's decisions. The only biases in the case would be the pressure that Raef's manager Jonathon placed on him. The fact that Raef's manage was trying to influence his decisions makes an obvious bias to who Raef might consider asking onto the team. The other would be selecting one person over another simply because they had been with the company longer, which would suggest that only people who have been with the company would have the privilege of working on a major ... • 5. A Research On Plastic Pollution Throughout my research on Plastic Pollution I learned that plastic is a material that our planet cannot digest but it has become the lubricant growth of globalization. Thus, Plastic is made from oil that contains many chemicals harmful to humans and animals. Humans are barely aware that Plastic is so part of our lives that it can be found in everyday products that we consume and even the food we eat. Humanity plastic foot print in the oceans has caused a major garbage path located thousands of miles off the coast of California, called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. This is caused due to humans that throw their waste into the sea and went those plastics are in the water, it breaks down into smaller particles; then pushed by winds, tides and currents, plastic particles form with other debris into large swirling glutinous accumulation zones. For instance, The World Economic Forum (WEF) report stated that if we keep producing plastic and improperly dispose of it, there will be more pound of plastic debris than fish by 2050 because we have been made three times more plastic stuff since we did in 2014. The dangers of over–produced plastic, is that much of it escapes from collection systems that end up floating in the ocean than into the stomachs of marine birds and sea turtles. This is very alarming to me because we are killing thousands of marine's lives and its ecosystem by over producing plastic. However, I learned that it's never too late to decrease the amount of ... Reflections on my Plant Engineering Summer Internship at United Parcel Service Introduction My Plant Engineering (PE) internship experience at United Parcel Service (UPS) allowed me to utilize all that I have learned at Florida Polytechnic University and apply it to real–world work experience. Thus expanding upon my previous knowledge while simultaneously allowing me to grow in new ways that cannot be taught in the classroom. Interning at UPS has helped highlight my fortes and flaws as not only an engineering student, but also as a young adult entering the professional world. Through firsthand daily coaching and mentoring from senior engineers, I discovered that communication is the key to being successful as an individual and as a team. Encouraging social cognizance provides a necessary balance within a company. Getting the Job An INROADS alumni told me about an organization called INROADS and encouraged me to go online and apply for their paid summer internship program. INROADS is a non–profit company that focuses on "developing and placing talented underserved youth in business and industry, and prepares them for corporate and community leadership (INROADS, 2011)." The organization is currently expanding their STEM program. So, my Florida Polytechnic education along with their internship program was a great match. TULSI STUDENT # 825–067–754 PERSONAL REFLECTION ASSIGNMENT A. Your personal style/process 1.What do you like most about group projects and why? The most I like about group projects is the process of brainstorming. All members in the group have different ways of understanding and to make sure each member in the group is in the same page, require a lot of effort. I even like the way group interaction takes place. We usually form a group with people who we are comfortable with and we can get along with and work together in a professional manner. Group projects help me to get prepared to work "in a team" and "as a team". Though it is sometimes very challenging to work with different personalities, but when everyone agrees to a common goal it provides its own advantages to all the members in the group. The important thing I like about group projects is that it prepares me to work in the real working environment and shows us the trailer that how we would encounter difficulties and what solutions can we provide to achieve a common goal. It also helps to provide knowledge of our capabilities and skills that we have and we can use as required. 2.What do you like least about group projects and why? I had to adjust the size of some icons, text, and move buttons around. In many cases I submitted multiple different possible layouts for the changed pages so that our UI team could pick the option that looked best. Wiki Pages – Created a wiki page for new hires and interns on our team to show them how to use the GIT repo our team had. This shows how to get it set up and how to use the features of GIT that were used on the team I was on. Main Project Details Probably the single best project that describes my internship is the data logging project. This was a project that I was given almost a month after I started but also lasted until almost the end of my internship. This was also one of the largest projects I worked on that I can discuss in enough detail to explain why it describes my internship.

The last thing that this island needs right now is another thing that contributes to the heavy traffic. The rail project has been in motion for quite some time now but there is still little to no evidence of it completing any time soon. The reasons why the rail has not yet to finished is because of fiscal issues and decrease of values. According to OSHA, electrocution is responsible for one of every ten deaths in the construction industry. This commonly happens when a ladder or the worker on it accidentally contacts a power line. Christo had financed all of his projects himself. He had raised money by selling small paintings he had created. But his main works of art were giant wrappings of different things. His favorite wrappings were buildings or places seen everday by people. By wrapping these places he was giving them a new identity. Christo has undertaken many projects. • 19. Personal Statement Of Engineering In Electronics And... It is no doubt that Engineering plays a vital role in our society. This is magnified in a time when the world is faced with so many significant problems – climate change, population density – to name just two. It is for this reason that I am so excited about the prospect of studying Engineering, especially at the point of so many major advances in technology, in AI and nanomaterials for example. In the future, I hope to help to lead these advances and solve these problems. My interest in building projects first started when I began studying Electronics in Year 9. I remember the joy I felt after making some Christmas lights flash in different patterns. Though it was simple, seeing how I could genuinely make physical changes to my own home brought me great pleasure. As I became more knowledgeable in Electronics and Engineering, I began building far more impressive projects. In Year 11, I assembled and coded a quadcopter, for which I was awarded a CREST Gold award. During the course of Year 12, I made a facial recognition system using a Raspberry Pi and open–source libraries. These projects have showed me the practical aspects of Engineering, particularly in how important it is to be able to troubleshoot. [more detail] [A book quote, e.g. as X says in Y ; '']. Another major project I have worked on recently involved building a suite of different LEDs that can have features such as its flicker rate and intensity configured to a very precise level. This formed part of a larger research project investigating how animals react to types of light. The project, done as part of a Nuffield Research Placement was very different to my previous ventures as it involved dozens of different people with a wide range of skillsets. I found that this project developed not only my ability to work as a team [example], but also showed me how research works at the PhD level. Of course, I understand that Engineering is not just about building projects in the garage and I have been actively seeking to gain a more diverse appreciation of what constitutes Engineering. I recently attended a four day Headstart course at Warwick University which proved to be an enlightening experience because of the amount of new material that was covered, ... • 21. The General Overhead And Construction Projects Essay In the past, the general overhead in construction projects was not important compared to project costs. However, with the new construction environment and its changes such as the high usage of lean, BIM, and LEED, everything has changed. Nowadays, most of the construction contractors are measuring their general overhead costs and trying to control it. To gain profits, they started to allocate their general overhead costs to different construction projects they are working on. In this paper, we investigate how a construction company (general contractor) manages its general overhead costs. Preceding this stage, we should provide few definitions of the general overhead costs in order to give readers a deep insight of what this paper is about. Moreover, it is essential to explain how construction contractors allocate their general overhead costs to construction projects, what methods they tend to use for allocating, and what advantages and disadvantages does every method have. Further, we shift our focus to activity–based costing method by defining it and describing its steps. Since the main purpose of this paper is to examine how construction contractors deal with their general overhead costs, an interview should be conducted to know how contractors allocate general overhead cost to construction projects to get profits. Indeed, each construction contractor may use a specific method when allocating. Due to our interest in estimating, the interview was conducted with a senior ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each method of contracting affects in its own way the allocation of responsibility and the demands on the employer for co–ordination of the project. Through the proper allocation of responsibility for the project to reflect these strengths and weaknesses, the employer can rationalise the price of the contract against his exposure to project risks. Even simple actions like throwing a can of soda into a bush beside the road or in a neighbor's yard can eventually affect wildlife in the sea. As a whole, littering is basically depositing an item where it does not belong. Although there isn't a person who hasn't littered, it needs to stop before it gets out of hand. Surprisingly, some people think littering is okay. This is not the case; there are far too many consequences. They argue that since everyone does it, why shouldn't they? A simple action like throwing an empty water bottle out the window penalizes the world for hundreds of years. Littering impacts the economy. According to the University of Southern California, 100,000 marine animals are entangled, suffocated, or cut by rough edges each year. The majority of these cases could have easily been prevented, just by throwing trash away. Litter originates on land, where eventually it migrates to a waterway, and then into the ocean where it ensnares wildlife. Most of this trash goes into one of the five 'gyres' (a giant ocean based whirlpool) throughout the world. The largest, commonly known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP), is located between Asia and the United States. According to National Geographic, there are approximately 1.9 million pieces of plastic per single square mile in the GPGP. The ocean debris can disrupt the food chain: Plankton is threatened, which results in fish starving. This not only puts sharks and larger marine animals in danger of starving, but it also closes businesses throughout the world. As more fishing industries are shut down, more individuals become unemployed, which results in a weak economy. Finally, and most tragically, wildlife is killed by trash. • 29. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch Since the introduction of plastics in the early 20th century, waste production inland has accumulated at an ever–increasing rate. Improperly disposing of waste washes through inland waterways, which eventually carries the waste into the ocean. The north pacific garbage gyre spans the majority of the area. The physical gyre stretches from the coast of Japan to California. Four different currents maintain the circular motion of the gyre, which encapsulates large amounts of debris in the center of the gyre, known as the convergence zone. All of these components lead to the term most call as the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch". The unfortunate locations of the world's oceans, downhill and downstream of humans, allow plastics, chemicals and any form of pollution to follow natural transportation directly into our oceans. In 1869, John Wesley invented the celluloid, the first plastic product to be given a name. In 1909, Bakelite is introduced to the chemist club in New York as the "first thermoset plastic", meaning that once the plastic mold was set it was set for life. Everywhere we look there are plastics, we have become so accustomed to their presence that we can hardly remember a time when they did not serve our needs. They found that the larger pieces were easy to remove, but the smaller pieces posed a problem. These methods included dragging nets and places trash reciprocals need areas with high concentrations of plastic that could be picked up later. The next step is to find an environmentally friendly ay to dispose of the collected plastics. One of these methods if called pyrolysis and works by turning waste into oil and other energy forms without using combustion. This process could account for 85% of the plastic currently in the Pacific Garbage Patch. Furthermore, a pyrolysis system could be mounted on a ship and taken directly to the garbage patch and loaded with plastics by other boats. Unfortunately, these are expensive systems. A cheaper option would be to concentrate the sun's rays and highly concentrated UV lights to excel the natural beak down process. The problem with this method is that it still leaves micro plastic in the ocean. According to Stone, some want to just leave the garbage thinking that it is a better alternative to landfills. How I Approach Program Development HOW WOULD I APPROACH PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT Upon reading and reflecting the insight and knowledge gained from this case study my three values for a program development and strategic analysis would be: a personal connection with the local population, minimizing hierarchy, and enforcing accountability and transparency in the organization. In terms of who I would work with, I favour the idea of working in a smaller organization. I would accept funds from multilateral organizations, not the government, and I would be working at the local level. Working in a smaller organization at the local level allows for greater accountability and a lesser chance of conflicting motives. As previously mentioned, smaller organizations may lead to exclusion. To prevent this I would be willing to work with like–minded small organizations to divide the population. My main interest would be cultivating a relationship with the population. The personal connection with the population is probably the hardest task because we are not all as willing as Roy to immerse ourselves in the community. This relationship also relies on the population because they need to be willing to share and collaborate. This connection is the most important because it allows for the strongest trust and the greatest understanding of the needs in the area that we are working. It also allows us to ensure that our endeavours for the project align with our program. Having an extensive understanding the needs specific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Problem 2: Hierarchical issues and hesitancy to ask questions The lack of understanding in cultural differences for the three North American consultants had caused occasional disputes with the Korean consultants, and in many instances led the North American consultants into confusion. In the Korean environment where Confucian values are deeply implemented, clients are treated with high authority from the hierarchical structure. When trying to manage the expectations of clients, from the perspective of a North American consultant, this involves frequent communication and interviews with the client to gain a thorough understanding of the client's system. However, due to Korea's hierarchical structure, the Korean consultants refused to do this. It was common for the Korean consultants to accept any form of work from the client, even if it was beyond the scope of the project. Adams and Moore felt powerless to stop this activity and became deeply frustrated, due to their lack of understanding in the Confucian culture.

  • 41. The Importance Of A Successful Communication Plan Communication plays a critical role on making sure the correct people will receive the information, what information will be communicated, how it will be communicated, how often, and who will be responsible for delivering the message during a project. All communication plans will be according to the needs of the project. Establishing a successful communication plan is one of the most important factors contributing to a successful project (CA.gov, 2007). When looking at the project communication plans from several organizations such as the Department of Agriculture (USDA), the City of Scottsdale, and the Park Development and Acquisition we can see some similarities and differences on how their plans are developed. Some are more extensive and detailed, and some are concise and to the point. Many of these differences are due to the need of the projects and who is involved. Out of the three communication plans, the USDA is the shortest and least detailed. The USDA plan does not include a table of content, making it more difficult for the reader to find needed information quickly. Both of the other plans, City of Scottsdale and Seattle Parks and Recreation, start their communication plan using a table of contents, making it easier for the reader. The plan from the Seattle Parks and Recreation is the most extensive and detailed due to the complexity of the project and length of it, with thirty–seven pages in length, while the other two are under nine pages. All three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Essay on Sustainability at EastLink Engineering Project Sustainability, which is the definition of "the process of using, conserving and enhancing a community's resources", plays a significant part in large engineering projects such as EastLink. EastLink's long–term goal is to provide a fast, lasting alternative for drivers to commute between eastern suburbs. For a project that had a final total cost of $2.5B, sustainability, that is ensuring that its relevance and usefulness to the society today and for the foreseeable future is a pivotal part of EastLink. Permanent projects that demand large commitment and resources are the ones that need to heed the concept of sustainability the most, as often there is no going back once construction of such a project has begun. Just like it is with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two significant decisions that have affected the EastLink project are firstly, the decision to develop EastLink as a tollway and secondly, an environmental issue involving potential damage that would be caused to the nearby Mullum Mullum Valley. EastLink was a multibillion–dollar project, and its funding stemmed primarily from the Federal government, however as the project progressed, the Victorian Government switched to the stance that the EastLink project was no longer viable as a toll free road which subsequently led to the termination of the partial Federal government funding for EastLink. The Federal government's reasoning being that it would only provide support and funding for projects that were toll free, hence the Victorian Government's initial promise. The Victorian Government's decision to have EastLink be a tolled motorway is one influenced by the operating and development costs of such a large civil project and is largely motivated by the financial return of such a project. These concerns were later shown as EastLink made a loss of nearly $93M in its first six months of operation, the largest reason being that being a tolled motorway, it would not attract as many motorists than it would've being a toll free road. The second decision arose over the planning of the layout of EastLink, namely over the extent of environmental damage that would be caused ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
