must raise awareness and promote legal awareness among all. The good way to know about this in
local and easiest way is by attending public meetings, hearings and legislative sessions or school

create a communication network like social media that works efficiently to all age group people. We
can also put this on our course form school level. I think, the fast and reliable way of getting

The Power Of The House Of Representatives
Congratulations on being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. I believe you should be very
familiar with the Texas Legislature as you have served as a member of the Texas Legislature for
eight years. However, the U.S. Legislature in Washington D.C. is very different from the Texas
Legislature while having some similarities. I would like to list some of the similarities and
differences between these two legislatures to help you in the transition as the Congress has changed
overtime and thus, to help develop your Home Style. The modern Congress is a reformed Congress
(Shaw, 2015:2). The power of the House of Representative was held in the hand of the Speaker in
the early 1900s. However, a resolution was introduced by George Norris after leading the
progressive Republicans and Democrats into a revolt against Joe Cannon, the Speaker, in 1910. The
power was moved to the hands of the committee chairs, which were determined by seniority, after
the revolt. (Shaw, 2015:3). The seniority system was challenged in the 1950s and 1960s. As a result,
a greater role was placed on the Speaker of the House and the majority party on determining the
assignment of the committee chairs. Moreover, the sub–committees had also become more
important in the legislature. Later in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the wages of the Congress
members and the number of staff had increased as a result of becoming more "professionalized".

The Politics Of The 1876 Texas State Constitution Essay
The 1876 Texas State constitution is the basic framework of today's legislature it consists of three
branches the legislative branch which is comprised of the house and senate, and the executive and
judiciary branch. In the following paragraphs we will discuss the Texas legislature's major
responsibilities relative to checks and balances. The Texas legislature is the dominant branch of state
government within the state constitutional framework of separation of powers. "Under the Tenth
Amendment to the United States Constitution, the legislature, as representative of the people of
Texas, exercises plenary powers, limited only by the Texas and United States constitutions and valid
federal laws" (Texas Legislature). In the 1845–1879 Texas statehood constitution, which laid out the
basic legislative framework established the bicameral legislature, which contains the House of
Representatives and the Senate. The House of Representatives is formed by forty–five to ninety
members, which are elected form counties, cities, or towns for two–year terms. The House of Reps.
originated from the British House of Commons, which has the exclusive right to create taxes and
spend that revenue, which is considered the ultimate check on royal authority. Therefore, "All bills
for revenue shall be originated in the House of Representatives..." (U.S. Constitution), in reference
to the fiscal policy. A fiscal policy is the means by which a government adjusts its spending levels
and tax rates to

Since it is gerrymandered, the issues deal with representation of people. The leaders made it that
way seeking their own benefit. Despite having 28.1%, Hispanics are not represented well in the
committee. Asian also don't have any representation. Representation is done based on the political
advantage. They cut the district boundaries in such a way that it fosters their business rather than
people's sake.
2 Given the results of political party quiz, my political values are closer to Independent. I fall in the
middle of Democrats and Republican. Also, with the political typology quiz, my best fit is Next
Generation Left, having liberal attitudes. Running for the office, I would like to stand on issue
stands such as education, roads, transportation, taxes, homosexuality and health. I would like to
decrease the poverty rate. There is a lot of tax in Texas. We undergo sales tax, state tax and federal
tax which decreases our annual income and the tax return is also less. The highways are not good
enough. For example, TX 183 is undergoing construction and the road is messed up. They are just
expanding express lanes for their purposes. The general public cannot afford tolls.
Education plays a vital role in this era. I support that education should not only be focused on books
but also on critical sense and practical knowledge. Students should be able to experiment with the
technological advancement and its outcomes.

The Texas Legislature members cannot hold another official government office. In addition, the
members must meet specific criteria such as voter status, citizenship, and district residence.
Although all the large criteria required in order to become a member, millions of Texas residents
occupy these legal qualifications. Biographical data, however, has advised that numerous
individuals recent to Texas Legislatures have informal qualifications which are restricting
opportunities for election.

The Speaker of the House has a variety of responsibilities and duties, which include ruling on
procedural matters, recognizing members during debates, sending bills in favor of the committee
review, and appointing members to numerous committees. Moreover, in opposition to other state
legislatures, The Texas House of Representatives, does not properly recognize the majority nor the
minority leaders. The Democratic House Leader and the Republican Chairman, who are elected by
their corresponding caucuses are the unofficial leaders.
In contrast, the Texas State Senate has its focus on the Upper House of the Texas State Legislature.
The Senate consists of 31 members, who represent single–member districts settled in Texas. The
latest studies confirm that each individual district has an average of 806.000 civilians. Each term a
member serves last for four years. Similarly, to the House, the senate has no term limits. The person
who leads the Senate is the Lieutenant Governor of Texas. The Lieutenant Governor is considered to

Presiding Officers in Texas State Legislature
Presiding Officers in Texas State Legislature: The Texas Legislature is the most significant body in
the state involved in decision–making, which is a bicameral legislative body consisting of two
chambers i.e. the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Senate is made up of 31 members
who serve four–year terms while the House of Representatives consist of 150 representatives elected
for a term of two years. Generally, legislators in this state tend to be wealthier, more educated, and
having higher education status as compared to their constituents. The elitist nature of the Texas
Legislature is attributed to several factors including the costs associated with running for the
legislature and the relatively low annual salary of approximately $7,200. The two chambers of the
Texas Legislature are headed by two different presiding officers with varying institutional and
procedural powers. The presiding officer of the House of Representatives in Texas Legislature is the
Speaker of the House while the Lieutenant Governor is the presiding officer of the Senate. While the
Speaker is elected at the opening of every session through a majority vote, the Lieutenant Governor
is elected through a statewide election and serves for four years ("Chapter 3 Texas Legislature",
n.d.). The Lieutenant Governor has significant influence in the development of state policy and laws
that are ultimately passed by the Senate since the individual is empowered to determine all

It is important to provide citizens with the rightful tools, such as this bill, to be able to protect
themselves and loved ones. With the fear of handguns falling into the wrong hands, there are
multiple steps such as background checks and evaluations all before being able to legally purchase a
handgun in Texas. With this new House Bill being passed, Texas now joins 34 other states who
support the right to openly carry concealed handguns.
The Texas House of Representatives affirms of another policy Bohac strongly supports is "giving
municipalities greater authority to enforce apartment standards" (Tex. House Rep.). Enforcing
apartment standards is important because it ensures the greater safety of those living in the
apartment complexes, of those living in surrounding areas, and of those who patrol the areas. Bohac
felt the greater need to push the legislation towards superior apartment standards after the death of
Houston police officer Timothy Abernathy of December 2016 who was involved in a shooting. As
Bohac elaborates, "...deteriorating apartments often become havens for criminal activity" (Bohac).
The apartment complex where police officer Timothy Abernathy was killed was under run–down
conditions which it would not have been if regular inspections were conducted to improve its
conditions. Under the new House Bill 1819, whom Bohac closely worked with the City of Houston

A Speech For Running For A Texas House Of Representative

As I am running for a Texas House of Representative, the agendas that I have set was to consider
social issues such as terrorism, health or mental sufferings and environmental degradation. My reach
of contribution to the society and campaign endorsement through a celebrity figure adds up to a
positive result. If my campaign becomes successful and I get elected, then the three committees that
I would serve would be Criminal Jurisprudence, Human Services, and Environmental Regulation.

Since, there are limited amounts of officials in a particular committee, likely thoughts during a
meeting would draw more attention in a certain interest group.
The voter groups are the one who has the highest expectation towards their elected member. It is
first important to analyze the problems in a community to provide service for the voters. Anyone
could be a victim of the agenda that I got elected for, i.e. crimes, health and environmental suffrage.
The constituent services that I would do for the voters is by adhering to make the surrounding a
safer area or strict security, confirming insured people, and creating a green act movement to save
our atmosphere from any kind of degradation. In addition, I would also specifically focus on high
profile cases like crimes so that the voters would be benefited with all the basic needs to sustain as a
secure human being.
About creating a "homestyle", I would prefer something that would influence my voters for
reelection and, also build a trust in them by implementing the ideas presented before the election. It
often happens when the elected leader fails to accomplish their goals which makes their voters to
distrust the political leaders. So, I would focus my district's agenda very strictly by setting up a town
meeting, planning in every perspective and mainly implementing the discussed issues. It is very
important to be physically available in the area of need, providing

So, the first step I would take towards this ambitious position would be to gain the following of the

on hand, as their total involvement numbers are low for District 105. A Democrat running for a seat
in the Texas House of Representatives is typically already a difficult task, as Texas is a Republican
state. That means that I would have to present a strong campaign by meeting all the needs of my
district and out–shining Anderson at his own game. The Texas legislature website also claims that
Anderson has lived his entire life as a wealthy Texas native; 2 his parents owned a property

The Negative Differences Of A Centralized Government In...
The Texas government reflects a negative attitude towards having centralized governments. A
centralized government is when the power of the government belongs to very few people and is not
dispersed among a larger group. That could include things like monarchies and dictatorships where
there only a single authority. Centralized governments is exactly the opposite of what Texas
displays. Texas is an example of a decentralized government where the power is dispersed amongst
a group of multiple people. There is no single authority in a Texas government because it includes
many people with power like attorney generals, governor, senators and representatives. What really
makes Texas decentralized is the citizens having the ability to choose whoever they want to have
power in the Texas government. A city council is considered the body in cities that have corporate
status and also have a local government. Their responsibility is to create laws which affect all of the
residents that live in the certain city which they work in. Every city has a different number of city
council members and the type of district that they are responsible for representing varies from city to
city. In some cities the council member is elected by the whole city in a similar method to the way
that a mayor is elected. Another way of electing city council members is by electing them to
represent certain parts rather than the whole entire city being represented by just one member. The
final way is by a

Based on my responses, this quiz placed me into the next generation left which includes people with
liberal values. As a person has different political views towards different things, my views are also
scattered between democrats and republicans in different prospects. I stand as a democrat while
taking the views related to criminal justice and immigration where they are more liberal. In some
cases, like the issue of gun control, I am in support of republicans as they strongly oppose the use of
guns and hand arms to control the crime.
The state house of Texas requires a person to be a U.S. citizen, 21 old or over, 2 years resident of
Texas and 1year resident prior to the elections. Watching over the past, the current representative for
state house Matt Rinaldi is a republican. In 2012, the district was represented by Bennett Ratliff who
was also a republican. Matt Rinaldi is proving his strong presence by winning the seat for two times
in the election of 2014 and 2016. This shows that the republicans have very strong voter population

more democrats which would make it harder to win in this district. However, looking to the general

Pros And Cons Of The Texas Bathroom Bill
In recent years, the United States has been struggling to pass transgender rights, and Texas is of no
means of an exception. Some of these include bathroom rights. In Texas, the bathroom bill passed
through the Texas Senate, but did not survive through the Texas House, resulting in a temporary
halt. Even now, the government still question the rights. It is suggested that Texas may need a
bathroom bill, but would probably end in some kind of financial consequence, along with many
Americans losing their jobs. The Texas Bathroom Bill, otherwise known as SB6, could also fuel
disunity within our nation and cause several riots. According to the "Here's what the Texas

Assuming that the bill has been passed, any violations for not following the bill's guidelines could
be severe. In accordance to State Capitol Reporter Lauren McGaughy's "Texas Leaders Unveil
Transgender 'Bathroom Bill ' Panned by Business, Decried as Discriminatory," the crime penalties
for ignoring the bill would result in being raised by one degree. These acts can involve harassment,
prostitution, and even murder. It would take effect in public facilities such as schools, restaurants,
and especially in governmental establishments. The SB6 will also allow the Texas Attorney General
to fine anyone one to $10,500, as it would be considered a civic crime to violate the regulations.
It would be strongly implied that Texas may have been spared disaster or "dodged a bullet" in the
many failed attempts of the bill being signed. Although it could stop future sexual criminal offences
of any kind, it should also be noted that Texas will not have to suffer financially. To reiterate a point

Analysis Of The Texas Legislature
The first Texas Legislature met in 1846 and has only had a few changes. It is a bicameral legislature
that has two chambers which include the Texas Senate, with 31 senators and the House of

their constituent's concerns and issues by addressing them during the sessions.
The Texas Legislature meets once every two years regular sessions of 140 days. However, there are
times when it is necessary for the governor to call special sessions that are limited to 30 days of

Former governor Rick Perry once said "When you have a full–time legislature, they just feel pretty
inclined to be doing something. So they are going to dream up new laws, new regulations and new
statutes–and generally all of those cost money." (Champagne) Government does not need to be
involved in everything, but it is necessary to try and keep order and to protect the citizens. An
additional argument against a full–time legislation is the belief that it would increase corruption due
to the fact that the legislators would have more time together to deliberate and give in to the
temptation of unethical practices. (Champagne 217) My opinion is that a full–time legislature would
offer more time and money for the job to be completed thoroughly. Instead of scheming, they would
be able to research and discuss the bills as they are being submitted. It seems that corruption is
caused for two reasons. The first being that currently there is simply not enough time to tackle all
the issues, so when one is approached with being persuaded to support a certain bill, they act on it
when they might not have even known that it existed. Secondly, the minimal amount of pay for this
job could play a role in one being tempted to these corrupt practices for money or to enjoy things
that they would otherwise not have access to. Whether the legislature is currently corrupted or
would be so if it becomes a full–time, it is difficult to deny the fact that the legislature is not an

Local Control in Texas When I was woken up by a 5.8 magnitude earthquake from Pawnee,
Oklahoma on last Saturday morning, I just thought I was in a dream. Is Texas near a seismic zone?
Again, I heard my cousin, a petroleum engineer, talk about the hydraulic fracturing which causes the
frequent earthquakes recently. hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is widely used by the oil and gas
companies in Texas and Oklahoma to produce oil and natural gas. Although hydraulic fracturing
technology successfully reduces the price of energy, the scientific evidences show that it relates to
frequent earthquake and water pollutions. According to a report from Newsweek Global, the
Oklahoma Geological Survey states that Oklahoma only has one and a half earthquakes over 3
magnitudes per year before 2008, the year of the oil and gas companies begin to use hydraulic
fracturing technology, compare to two and a half per day in 2015(MCGRATH). The United States
Geological Survey (USGS) also indicates that hydraulic fracturing induce earthquakes on March 28,
2015 (MCGRATH). In addition, United States Environmental Protection Agency confirmed that the
hydraulic fracturing relates to the water pollution (Banerjee). In Texas, if a city over 5000

Texas Executive Branch Essay
The legislative branch of any state is considered to be the most powerful; being above the judicial
and executive branches. The main job of the legislative branch within a state government is to make
laws, in favor of the people of that state, but every state acts upon each bill by a different process.
The legislation process of both Texas and New York have multiple similarities but also differ on
many levels as well. The structure of both Texas and New York's legislations are bicameral, which
means that there are two chambers that make up the legislature. One chamber consist of the state's

The Constitution Of 1876: The Three Branches Of Texas...
Branches of Texas Government In order for a government to make important decisions successfully
for its citizens, there needs to be different branches with specific tasks. Texas uses the three
branches, legislative, executive and judicial, within its government to create a balance of power.
Each branch has the ability to monitor the powers of the other branches, so that one branch does not
become overly powerful. The system of checks and balances was created and is an important part of
the constitution because it resolves many fears of an overbearing government. The Texas
Constitution of 1876 has laid out the responsibilities and powers of each branch of government. The
legislative branch's power is to approve laws that govern Texas. The Texas legislature is bicameral,
meaning it is separated into two chambers, the Texas Senate and Texas House of Representatives. A

The Texas Constitution of 1876 took executive power and distributed it among officeholders in
order to limit the power of the governor. The Texas governor is said to have the least amount of
formal power. The current governor of Texas is Greg Abbott. An important power that a governor
holds is two appoint people to office, but it is also limited. The Senate must approve any
appointments made by the governor. The governor as well holds both legislative and judicial powers
in the government. The governor has the ability to veto legislation and to call for special sessions.
The governor may appoint judges in order to fill vacancies, and also has the ability to issue pardons
and grant paroles with certain limitations. There are many agencies that monitor, enforce and make
sure that citizens are obeying laws. Other positions that hold executive powers are the Attorney
General, Secretary of State, Commissioner of the General Land Office, Commissioner of

Stand With Texas Women By Wendy Davis
On July 1, 2013, Texas Senator Wendy Davis made a speech at Texas's State Capitol. She had an
audience of about 5,000 people, as she spoke about Women's Rights and Texan power. In "Stand
with Texas Women", Wendy Davis argues that Texas is all about fairness, so women deserve equal
opportunity. Specifically, Davis states that Texas has pushed to be fair, but politicians have been
selfish in their careers. Her point is that creating equal opportunity for women will help not only
Texan families, but Texas as a whole. She also points out that Texas needs politicians who want
what is best for the state and the people. Davis uses her Texas pride as an advantage in her speech.
She talks about growing up in Texas and she shows some vulnerability ... Show more content on

She argued for certain regulations, such as fighting for abortion to be banned after 20 weeks of
pregnancy. Unfortunately, she failed to prove her point to the Senate. In her speech at the rally on
July 1, 2013, she talks about the previous filibuster and she called it "the crux of a turning point in
Texas History". The importance of the date of the "Stand with Texas Women" speech is that it was
only a few days after her filibuster in the Senate. It was beneficial for her to be able to further the
points from the filibuster, by talking directly to the Texas women and men who attended the rally. As
she stood in front of 5,000 men and women at the Texas Capitol, she had a much larger audience
than expected. Her speech targeted women and men wanting a better life for them and their families,
and they were there to hear what she had to say. During the weekend before she spoke, Rick Perry
accused her of "not learning her lesson" because she is a single mother (Koh, Luthra, "Abortion
Rights Activists Descend on Capitol"). He was pushing her to a limit that she did not appreciate.
Therefore, she attacked him in her speech by stating, "I was lucky enough to be able to make the
choices in my life that I knew would work for me. And I don't regret for one minute my decisions
about my daughters, my education or my direction in life." She overcame what Rick Perry said by
talking about how her

  • 5. The Power Of The House Of Representatives Congratulations on being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. I believe you should be very familiar with the Texas Legislature as you have served as a member of the Texas Legislature for eight years. However, the U.S. Legislature in Washington D.C. is very different from the Texas Legislature while having some similarities. I would like to list some of the similarities and differences between these two legislatures to help you in the transition as the Congress has changed overtime and thus, to help develop your Home Style. The modern Congress is a reformed Congress (Shaw, 2015:2). The power of the House of Representative was held in the hand of the Speaker in the early 1900s. However, a resolution was introduced by George Norris after leading the progressive Republicans and Democrats into a revolt against Joe Cannon, the Speaker, in 1910. The power was moved to the hands of the committee chairs, which were determined by seniority, after the revolt. (Shaw, 2015:3). The seniority system was challenged in the 1950s and 1960s. As a result, a greater role was placed on the Speaker of the House and the majority party on determining the assignment of the committee chairs. Moreover, the sub–committees had also become more important in the legislature. Later in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the wages of the Congress members and the number of staff had increased as a result of becoming more "professionalized". The Politics Of The 1876 Texas State Constitution Essay The 1876 Texas State constitution is the basic framework of today's legislature it consists of three branches the legislative branch which is comprised of the house and senate, and the executive and judiciary branch. In the following paragraphs we will discuss the Texas legislature's major responsibilities relative to checks and balances. The Texas legislature is the dominant branch of state government within the state constitutional framework of separation of powers. "Under the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, the legislature, as representative of the people of Texas, exercises plenary powers, limited only by the Texas and United States constitutions and valid federal laws" (Texas Legislature). In the 1845–1879 Texas statehood constitution, which laid out the basic legislative framework established the bicameral legislature, which contains the House of Representatives and the Senate. The House of Representatives is formed by forty–five to ninety members, which are elected form counties, cities, or towns for two–year terms. The House of Reps. originated from the British House of Commons, which has the exclusive right to create taxes and spend that revenue, which is considered the ultimate check on royal authority. Therefore, "All bills for revenue shall be originated in the House of Representatives..." (U.S. Constitution), in reference to the fiscal policy. Presiding Officers in Texas State Legislature Presiding Officers in Texas State Legislature: The Texas Legislature is the most significant body in the state involved in decision–making, which is a bicameral legislative body consisting of two chambers i.e. the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Senate is made up of 31 members who serve four–year terms while the House of Representatives consist of 150 representatives elected for a term of two years. Generally, legislators in this state tend to be wealthier, more educated, and having higher education status as compared to their constituents. The elitist nature of the Texas Legislature is attributed to several factors including the costs associated with running for the legislature and the relatively low annual salary of approximately $7,200. The two chambers of the Texas Legislature are headed by two different presiding officers with varying institutional and procedural powers. The presiding officer of the House of Representatives in Texas Legislature is the Speaker of the House while the Lieutenant Governor is the presiding officer of the Senate. While the Speaker is elected at the opening of every session through a majority vote, the Lieutenant Governor is elected through a statewide election and serves for four years ("Chapter 3 Texas Legislature", n.d.). The Lieutenant Governor has significant influence in the development of state policy and laws that are ultimately passed by the Senate since the individual is empowered to determine all parliamentary ... With the fear of handguns falling into the wrong hands, there are multiple steps such as background checks and evaluations all before being able to legally purchase a handgun in Texas. With this new House Bill being passed, Texas now joins 34 other states who support the right to openly carry concealed handguns. The Texas House of Representatives affirms of another policy Bohac strongly supports is "giving municipalities greater authority to enforce apartment standards" (Tex. House Rep.). Enforcing apartment standards is important because it ensures the greater safety of those living in the apartment complexes, of those living in surrounding areas, and of those who patrol the areas. Bohac felt the greater need to push the legislation towards superior apartment standards after the death of Houston police officer Timothy Abernathy of December 2016 who was involved in a shooting. As Bohac elaborates, "...deteriorating apartments often become havens for criminal activity" (Bohac). The apartment complex where police officer Timothy Abernathy was killed was under run–down conditions which it would not have been if regular inspections were conducted to improve its conditions. My reach of contribution to the society and campaign endorsement through a celebrity figure adds up to a positive result. If my campaign becomes successful and I get elected, then the three committees that I would serve would be Criminal Jurisprudence, Human Services, and Environmental Regulation. Anyone could be a victim of the agenda that I got elected for, i.e. crimes, health and environmental suffrage. The constituent services that I would do for the voters is by adhering to make the surrounding a safer area or strict security, confirming insured people, and creating a green act movement to save our atmosphere from any kind of degradation. In addition, I would also specifically focus on high profile cases like crimes so that the voters would be benefited with all the basic needs to sustain as a secure human being. About creating a "homestyle", I would prefer something that would influence my voters for reelection and, also build a trust in them by implementing the ideas presented before the election. It often happens when the elected leader fails to accomplish their goals which makes their voters to distrust the political leaders. Even though politics and government duties affect my everyday life, I have not pursued that career path thus far. However, what if I were to come across the opportunity to run for either a Texas House Representative member for Senate of Texas? So, the first step I would take towards this ambitious position would be to gain the following of the minority groups within the district. I would target everyone and form my campaign based on the idea that everyone benefits if I become a member of the Texas House of Representatives. Everyone would be considered equal, but I would need to better inform the minority groups about the benefits on hand, as their total involvement numbers are low for District 105. A Democrat running for a seat in the Texas House of Representatives is typically already a difficult task, as Texas is a Republican state. That means that I would have to present a strong campaign by meeting all the needs of my district and out–shining Anderson at his own game. The Texas legislature website also claims that Anderson has lived his entire life as a wealthy Texas native; 2 his parents owned a property management company and he is currently a senior vice president at Alliant National Title insurance. This is where Mr Anderson and I differ, as I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. • 49. The Negative Differences Of A Centralized Government In... The Texas government reflects a negative attitude towards having centralized governments. A centralized government is when the power of the government belongs to very few people and is not dispersed among a larger group. That could include things like monarchies and dictatorships where there only a single authority. Centralized governments is exactly the opposite of what Texas displays. Texas is an example of a decentralized government where the power is dispersed amongst a group of multiple people. There is no single authority in a Texas government because it includes many people with power like attorney generals, governor, senators and representatives. What really makes Texas decentralized is the citizens having the ability to choose whoever they want to have power in the Texas government. A city council is considered the body in cities that have corporate status and also have a local government. Their responsibility is to create laws which affect all of the residents that live in the certain city which they work in. Every city has a different number of city council members and the type of district that they are responsible for representing varies from city to city. In some cities the council member is elected by the whole city in a similar method to the way that a mayor is elected. Another way of electing city council members is by electing them to represent certain parts rather than the whole entire city being represented by just one member. The final way is by a ... In some cases, like the issue of gun control, I am in support of republicans as they strongly oppose the use of guns and hand arms to control the crime. The state house of Texas requires a person to be a U.S. citizen, 21 old or over, 2 years resident of Texas and 1year resident prior to the elections. Watching over the past, the current representative for state house Matt Rinaldi is a republican. In 2012, the district was represented by Bennett Ratliff who was also a republican. Matt Rinaldi is proving his strong presence by winning the seat for two times in the election of 2014 and 2016. This shows that the republicans have very strong voter population in this district. An additional argument against a full–time legislation is the belief that it would increase corruption due to the fact that the legislators would have more time together to deliberate and give in to the temptation of unethical practices. (Champagne 217) My opinion is that a full–time legislature would offer more time and money for the job to be completed thoroughly. Instead of scheming, they would be able to research and discuss the bills as they are being submitted. It seems that corruption is caused for two reasons. The first being that currently there is simply not enough time to tackle all the issues, so when one is approached with being persuaded to support a certain bill, they act on it when they might not have even known that it existed. Secondly, the minimal amount of pay for this job could play a role in one being tempted to these corrupt practices for money or to enjoy things that they would otherwise not have access to.
