2. Alarming Facts!
1 out of every 3 kids in America is now considered over weight or obese
Obesity is causing a broad range of health problems that previously weren’t
seen until adulthood. These include high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes
and elevated blood cholesterol levels.
There are also psychological effects: Obese children are more prone to low
self-esteem, negative body image and depression.
4. Parents!
As parents we need to be an example at home.
children learn by mimicking us. If we eat healthy and live an
active lifestyle our children will too.
On the other hand if we are so obsessed with body image and
weight our children will be too.
We are responsible for our children's health until they can
make responsible choices for themselves. Encourage children
to get outside and move.
Limit TV, Video games, and Computer time.
Plan family adventures where children are encourage
to run, play and exercise.

6. What can Teachers do?
When doing activities that involve snacks or
food use healthy foods instead of candy.
Try to reward with other items other than
candy
Incorporate movement and exercise into
lesson plans whether these be outside or
inside. For example doing jumping jacks while
saying your ABC’s
8. Students!!!
o Get up and move. Dance, Exercise, Play,
and Play Sports.
o Make the best choices you can when
choosing foods. Those candies, cookies,
and cakes may look good but they aren’t
good for the body.
