Vitamin and mineral requirement
Different vitamins and minerals are required for the proper growth and development of
the human body. Below mentioned are the different vitamins that are required for the
humans.
1. Vitamin A: It is found in carrots, sweet potatoes, green leafy vegetables, fish,
apricots and lettuce are rich sources of Vitamin A.
Deficiency due to Vitamin A: It causes poor eye vision, nyctalopia (night blindness).
2. Vitamin B: The foods rich in Vitamin B are fish, pork, soya beans, oatmeal,
brown rice and eggs.
Deficiency due to Vitamin B: It causes anemia, beri beri, pellagra, insomnia, and
weakness.
3. Vitamin C: The foods rich in vitamin C are citrus foods such as lemon, orange,
kiwi, papayas, bell pepper, pineapple and raspberries.
Deficiency due to Vitamin C: Deficiency caused due to Vitamin C are scurvy,
depression, fatigue and rash.
4. Vitamin D: Foods rich in Vitamin D are milk, fish like tuna and salmon, orange
juice, cereals and soy milk.
Deficiency due to Vitamin D: Deficiency due to Vitamin D causes rickets.
5. Vitamin E: Rich sources of vitamin E are almonds, sunflower seeds, plant oils,
spices and walnuts are rich sources of vitamin E.
Deficiency due to Vitamin E: Vitamin E deficiency causes muscle weakness and also
degeneration of retina.
6. Vitamin K: Rich sources of vitamin K are beetroot, spinach, mustard greens,
cheese, egg and meat.
Deficiency due to Vitamin K: Its deficiency can also cause insufficient dietary intake
and inadequate absorption.
Types of food
A well balanced and nutritious diet helps to keep the body fit. There are different types
of food items that are required by the body in order to keep healthy.
Following are the different types of food that are required by the body:
1. Dairy Products: Dairy products such as milk, , cheese, yoghurt, buttermilk etc.
are required by the human body. Milk is the main source of calcium in the body.
2. Fresh Fruits & Vegetables: Fresh foods and vegetables are essential for the
proper growth and development of the cells and human body.
3. Nuts, grains and beans: They are important part of the human diet.
What to do for concentrating on studies?
There are many ways in which students can concentrate on studies by following the
below mentioned:
a. Yoga: yoga is a great way of relaxing and de - stressing. Regularly practicing yoga
asanas is a great way to concentrate on studies.
b. Timely and early sleeping: Taking proper sleep of about eight hours and also
sleeping early helps in proper concentration on studies.
c. Time management: Managing time properly helps in better concentration of
studies. Students can also give different time schedules for studies throughout the
day.
d. Sports: Sports are a great stress buster for students. Giving an hour a day for
your favorite sports is not only beneficial for the health of the students, but also will
improve concentration on studies.
e. Hobby: Students have different hobbies such as singing, dancing, painting etc.
Practicing hobbies regularly helps to free mind from stress and become more
concentrated on studies.
