Seborrheic Dermatitis
Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis characterized by redness and scaling and
is typically seen in the brows, nasolabial folds (NLF), and chest.1 Topical antifungals such as
ketoconazole can be helpful, but resistant seborrheic dermatitis often requires topical steroids or
steroid sparing agents such as tacrolimus.2 The exact cause and pathogenesis of seborrheic
dermatitis is not known. However, inflammation is known to play a role in seborrheic dermatitis.
The disease has a preference for body sites with increased or larger sebaceous glands (ie face,
scalp). Sebaceous glands create an environment favorable for growth of lipid dependent fungi such
as Malassezia. Multiple seborrheic dermatitis treatment studies have demonstrated

blocking of the pores. Blocked pores either cause white heads or black heads. You are advised to
stick on a balanced diet for general good health. In addition, acne of any kind will not find place to
attack you. Take lots of vegetables, fruits, and at least 2 liters of water on a daily basis. It will be a
way of reducing chances of getting the vulgaris acne and also reducing them from your skin in case

Skin Disorders: Acne Affects The Skin
Acne is a disease that affects the skin's oil glands. The small holes in your skin (pores) connect to oil
glands under the skin (NIH, 2015). Acne isn't a skin disorder that just came about. It existed in
ancient Greece whereas people then were affected by the disorder; some even believe it was
invented in this time. Acne is not a serious disease and cannot cause a life and death situation, but it
has a history of really infecting young people because of the sensitiveness of their skin. As I stated
above acne is an ancient skin problem. In fact, the background of acne reaches back to the dawn of
recorded history. In ancient Egypt, it is written that several pharaohs were acne sufferers (Best Acne
Treatment, 2015). Facts state that approximately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

include questions about:
 Areas of sensitive skin, or eczema
 Other diseases that may affect the ability to handle medications
 Previous drug allergies
 Use of steroids (e.g., for bodybuilding)
 Mood disorders or depression
 Use of contraceptives, irregular menstrual period, current or past pregnancy, breast feeding
(Galderma, 2015)
Women may be asked questions about their menstrual cycle. This can help the doctor to know
whether or not hormones have to do with the flare ups(American Academy of Dermatology, 2015).

Sometimes over the counter drugs may not work to clear up acne on your skin. Your doctor can
prescribe a medication or different kinds of therapy to clear the skin.

One Little X Ray. Biopsy, Surgery, Cancer
One Little X–ray Biopsy, Surgery, Cancer. How would you feel if a doctor said these three words to
you? These 3 very scary words can change your life and they changed mine. On a bitter cold
December day when I was in the 7th grade, my mom took me to the orthodontist office in Sioux
Falls. When he announced the news that I needed braces, I was not real thrilled. I tried to think
about the fact that I would eventually have perfect, straight teeth but I wasn't ready to give up
caramel apples. Although I liked straight teeth, I did not like braces, but my orthodontist said I must
have them. At the appointment, my orthodontist performed an x–ray to fit my braces. That's when
my life took a turn. Just when I thought it was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It did seem like it took a l ong time for the results to come back. The ticking of the clock was a
booming drum in the waiting room. It felt like we were waiting in the little cramped room for hours
but it was only 15 minutes. When we received the results, we were devastated. We were told I had a
mass growing in my jaw that was eating away my bone. From the x–ray, it didn't look like I had
much bone left. Remember, I kept thinking that the doctor was wrong because my jaw didn't hurt.
When are doctors wrong? I kept thinking about the weekend before when my basketball team
played in a very rough basketball tournament at the Dakota Dome. My team played 5 games and
made it to the championship. Lennox Lady O's took home a huge trophy. When I told the doctor
about the basketball game, he kind of freaked out! He told me he couldn't believe that my jaw didn't
break on the court and he told me I was out of sports for a while. Devastation hit me like a ton of
bricks. P.E class wasn't even a possibility.
Biopsy of the mass was the next step. Biopsy, which meant surgery. Surgery, which meant going
under anesthesia. I had gone under anesthesia one other time and it didn't go very well. My doctor
then told me something that I will always remember, Dr. Christ was concerned that the "mystery
mass" was cancerous. What, I couldn't believe it!! My jaw didn't even hurt!! He then went on to
explain that because my jaw was so fragile that there was a chance it

Sebaceous Cyst : Skin And Skin
Sebaceous cyst is believed to be a non cancerous, it is a small bump beneath the skin, slowly
growing and often painless. Sebaceous cyst is also known as Epidermoid Cyst, but the difference
between them two are, sebaceous cyst is less common. They arise from the glands that secrete only
matter that lubricates hair and skin. Most common cyst areas are the face, neck, scalp, ears, upper
arms and trunk. Cyst can appear anywhere on the skin of the body except the hands and sole of the
feet. Symptoms and signs include small, round bump under the skin. A tiny blackhead plugging the
central opening of the cyst, thick, yellow, foul swelling material that sometimes drains from the
cyst. Redness, selling and tenderness in the area is inflamed or infected. When inflamed the cyst can
become tender and swollen, even when it's not infected. Inflamed cyst can be difficult to remove
and can be painful. Ruptured cyst often leads to boiled like infection. Infected cyst can become an
abscess. The cause of the cyst can be by a block sebaceous gland, swollen hair follicles, high
testosterone, use of androgenic anabolic steroids and bad body hygiene. This can also be caused by
hereditary including Gardner's syndrome and basal nevus syndrome. The sebaceous gland produces
oil also called sebum that coats the hair and skin. Cyst can develop in the gland or it's duct, passage
where oil is able to leave, become damaged or blocked. Usually occurs due to trauma in the area.

Nine Ways To Teat Red Spots
How to teat Red Spots
Red spots are superficial pink, red, or brown marks caused by a breakout. They eventually fade over
time, but can be treated by following the steps below (http://www.paulaschoice.com/expert–
advice/acne/_/red–marks–and–acne–scars#difference).
Nine ways to treat marks that work for any skin tone.
Step 1: Only use well–formulated, gentle skin–care products.
It's tempting to try different scrubs to get rid of discoloration, but they can tear into the skin, giving
your skin a hard time to heal. Instead, use gentle facial products like a Hydralight gel face cleanser.
Wet face.
Apply a small amount of cleanser to your face and eye area. o Use vigorous, yet gentle, circular
motions.

Note: Some people may experience a delayed sensitized reaction to retinol. Do not assume that if no
reaction is seen after a few applications that you can apply this treatment more frequently. Pay close
attention to how your skin responds and adjust, use accordingly.
Caution: If sensitization occurs (redness, flaking, tenderness, or drying of skin):
Reduce frequency of use or mix one pump of the retinol treatment with your favorite serum or PM
moisturizer.
If sensitization persists, discontinue use.
Protect skin daily with sunscreen rated SPF 25 or greater.
Step 5: Consider medical help.
Research shows that red or brown discolorations where a breakout once was, responds well to a
series of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments. Your dermatologist would perform this method.
Another option is a monthly BHA or AHA peel performed by a cosmetic dermatologist. Lastly,

Ovarian Cancer Essay
One woman's story that saved her from ovarian cancer.
As a busy mother of two, working a full–time job as a primary schoolteacher, Paula Cann had plenty
of reasons to ignore the subtle changes that were happening inside her body.
Cann started noticed differences in urination and a small lump
It began with something as simple as peeing more than usual. Cann noticed that she started having
to go not only more often, but also with a new urgency. It got to the point that she could no longer
enjoy her evening walks around the local woods without desperately having to run to the bathroom.
Eventually, Cann noticed a subtle lump. She would only feel this lump insider her stomach

Her decision to finally go to the doctor was what saved her life. Cann urges all women to pay
attention to their bodies and respect the fact that small changes could mean huge consequences. It's
better to be safe rather than sorry, so go to the doctor if you feel like there's something wrong and
you can't pinpoint why.
Cann was lucky to have caught cancer just in time
If Cann hadn't gotten the cyst removed at the time that she had, one more month of waiting could
have meant the difference between life and death. Thank goodness that she decided to see her doctor
and that her doctor was available to see her in a timely manner! Cann was told that she caught her
disease just in the nick of time to give her a favorable prognosis.
Why is it so hard to catch ovarian cancer early?
The difficulty in catching ovarian cancer early lies in the elusive nature of the signs and symptoms.
The most common symptoms reported are increased fatigue, needing to pee more often, persistent
bloating, and stomachaches. Because ovarian cancer can become so large as to obstruct other organs
in the body, women can sometimes feel unusually full only after a small meal or snack. This can
cause some patients to lose their appetites as well. When working women and full–time mothers are
bustling around the house or office, it can be easy to miss these changes in your body.
Late diagnosis of ovarian

A Short Story : Bully : The Story Of Autumn
BullyThis story is about Autumn. Autumn was born a normal, healthy child but a sudden accident
had happened when she was 8 years old. She was sitting on a small tree branch 7 feet above the
ground. The branch snapped due to a sudden gust of wind. She hurt her arm badly with a gash the
length of her forearm and a large bump on her head. It took her several weeks to heal, and the bump
on her head had long–term effects on her personality. As the years went by Autumn gradually turned
into a introvert. She didn't take part in social gatherings or any other situation that involved groups
of people. People would comment in hushed voices on the change in her personality compared to a
few years before. The other kids in her neighborhood felt sorry for her and didn't bother her, but they
never tried to befriend her, either. Instead, they eventually began telling lies and making up stories
about Autumn that weren't true. Some people believed the stories and starting teasing her. Especially
Britney, which was one of the most popular girls at Autumn's school. Britney would threaten to tell
everyone that she has no home and all she is here for is to make everyone feel sorry for her. She
would constantly tease her about the bump on her head. The teasing would increase everyday to
where she would barely go outside anymore.Everyday Autumn would be asked it there was a giant
cyst on her head and that she needed to go to the doctor's to check it out. The teasing and making

Baker's Cyst Removal
The man who first discovered the baker's cyst in the mid 1800's was a british man named Dr.
William Morant Baker. A baker's cyst also known as a popliteal cyst is located in the middle of the
semimembranosus tendon and medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle (Snir, 2013). Sometimes
the Baker's cyst can be mistaken for a blood clot because it presents the same symptoms. A
magnetic resonance imaging scan (MRI) can determine if the patient indeed has a cyst on the back
of their leg. Other tests may be done to make sure that the cyst is not a malignant or benign tumor
before the surgeon tries to excise it. A baker's cyst is formed when a patient has damage, arthritis, or
a meniscus tear in their knee. Rheumatoid arthritis and Osteoarthritis are generally the main cause of
a formation of a baker's cyst (Houston Methodist, 2015). Although any kind of knee injury could
eventually lead to a painful baker's cyst. Too much exercise can also hinder the healing of the cyst.
Wright (2015) stated that, "A Baker 's cyst most commonly occurs in children aged 4 to 7 years and
in adults aged 35 to 70 years," as you can see that is a very large age gap. The cyst behind a child's
knee rarely ever affects them and goes away in time, but for an adult it is harder to get rid of
because the cyst is from a current knee joint problem.
Most cases where it is not serious the cyst is usually aspirated of fluid. If the

The Effects Of Acne Among Teens With Acne
Imagine sitting in the middle of class with a throbbing pain in the middle of your forehead, not
being able to concentrate on what the teacher is saying because the pain is all that is totally
consuming your mind like a dog that has not eaten in weeks. Many teens are affected with acne not
only in the United States but all over the world. They are crippled by the red, puss filled craters all
over their faces and bodies. Scared to go out in public with the fear of someone making a joke about
their acne, like calling them pizza face. Not all people are affected by the shame but the ones who
are, are stuck in this never ending cycle that we call acne. Always worrying about when a pimple
will pop up and ruin their entire day, maybe even their entire week. There are many causes of acne
among teens, how it affects the teens with acne, and what teens can do to try and help the acne that
is riddling their skin to disappear. Approximately eighty–five percent of people between the ages of
twelve to twenty–five experience some form of acne. The most common type of acne that teens get
is called acne vulgaris. This just means that the pimples can show up on the face, neck, shoulders,
upper back, and chest. There are glands in the human skin that are called sebaceous glands that

Skin Cancer In Dogs Essay
Skin cancer in dogs is very common and is found in different forms. It is not always possible to see
any changes to the cancer cell, unlike in humans where we can see changes in color etc. Therefore a
biopsy is the only guaranteed way to confirm if they are benign or malignant. A biopsy is simply the
removal of a small sample of the tumor which is sent off for pathology testing. If the tumor is small
your vet may remove all of it to be used for the biopsy.
If the growth is larger, over an inch in diameter, then your vet will take a cell sample by aspiration.
This is a simple procedure where they insert a fine needle into the tumor and withdraw a small
amount of the cell for further testing.

What Are Thin Oily Hair?
What is Thin Oily Hair?
It is a common occurrence for a person may find out that their hair has oily strings. These strings are
usually shapeless and in some cases, it can turn out to be a permanent hair condition. The problem
with thin hair is that it looks as if it is neglected; this is because it is not something beautiful to look
at. This may affect the appearance of a person and one may look less attractive.
Thin and oily hair is also difficult to style. This may negatively impact a person's life, such as their
self–esteem or confidence. A feeling of despair and frustration may therefore set in due to this hair
problem.
What Causes Thin Oily Hair
The process by which air becomes thin and oily occurs naturally. The scalp usually has natural oil
known as sebum which is secreted by the sebaceous glands. A controlled amount of this oil is
actually beneficial to the hair. Sebum keeps the hair smooth and prevents it from drying. By keeping
the hair oily, sebum prevents the hair from breaking and keeps the hair healthy. The good look of
hair is a result of sebum.
However, in some cases, sebum is produced in huge amounts. This is as a result of hyperactivity in
these glands. This results in an oily scalp which in turn affects the hair. Too much sebum has a toll
especially on thin hair as it makes it appear too oily.
Tips for Dealing With Thin Hair
There are several ways of taking care of thin oily hair. One way is by regularly washing your hair.

Blepharitis Research Paper
Eyelashes are tiny hairs located on the upper and lower human eyelids. Each eyelid tends to be in
the form of layers which might amount to 4–5 layers of the eyelid. They serve an important purpose
of securing the eyes from direct exposure to dust. They are rooted deep in to eyelid. Any sort of
threat to the eyes is automatically detected and responded by the contraction of muscles that are
present inside the eyelids. In the fractions of seconds all of this process gets executed. The eyelashes
act as shields every time the eye flickers. A grease type of substance is emitted from internal
sebaceous organs when a flicker occurs. The eyes are then filled with this substance. The organs

The Effects Of My Life
"Cancer, a failing gallbladder, crohns disease," I stare at the wall rummaging through all the
problems I could be facing in this moment. The surge of pain in the upper right quadrant of my
abdomen strikes me unexpectedly, throwing me into a spiraling episode of assumption and google
searches. The only results yielded by these searches were virtually every terminal disease that had
this symptom. It was now that I realized this could be a potentially life altering circumstance.
All my life I had never had a physical impairment; therefore, you can imagine when I began feeling
even the slightest amount of pain I felt like I was going mad. My trips to the gastroenterologist
started in my sophomore year. I quickly grew tired of showing up ... Show more content on

I lay on the stretcher in tears being rolled away from my family, silently screaming, and bursting
with a terrible anxiety like never before. "We are going to place this mask over your nose and
mouth, just breathe in and out as normal," says the anesthesiologist. The air I was forced to breathe
in smelt explicitly like nail polish remover. I woke up with an atrocious headache and some
immobility. Once again not a thing was wrong with me according to the results which angered me to
no end. How come my life is still being consumed by this pain and yet my results say I'm perfectly
healthy? My last major and only test left that my gastroenterologist had to offer me was a
colonoscopy. Nobody wants to have to experience one of these, especially at the prime age of 16.
Anyhow if this meant yielding another possible reason for this ghastly pain then you bet I was going
to be right back on that stretcher within the next few months. I had my better days, even some no
pain at all; but the days I did have it were some of the worst days of my life. The colonoscopy
brought nothing more than another disappointing sheet of doctor words, and a few pictures of my
intestines (which were kind of interesting so at least if I had any perk to this situation it was this).
The doctors work was done and there was no more for him to try so I guess it was back to google

Bronchogenic Cysts Research Paper
INTRODUCTION: Bronchogenic cysts are formed due to abnormal budding of bronchial tree. They
are lined by respiratory epithelium. They are not air filled as they do not commonly communicate
with the bronchial tree. They are filled with fluid containing proteins, blood products and calcium
oxalate.
One third are located in the lung parenchyma and two third are located in the mediastinum. 40 to
50% of all congenital cysts in the thorax are bronchogenic cysts. On CT scans they appear as round
mass with attenuation similar to soft tissue or water.
Symptoms arise only when the cyst compresses surrounding structures. Most cysts are
asymptomatic.

The age of the patient, non‑smoker status, absence of emphysema or abnormality suggesting a
previous tuberculosis insult lessens the possibility of a bulla. Cystic bronchiectasis is unlikely
considering the solitary nature, lower lobe location and lack of recurrent lung infections.
Treatment for both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients is surgical resection. Surgical resection
is the treatment of choice in all patients including those who are asymptomatic considering the risk
of recurrent infections. If CCAM is detected antenatally or at birth, surgical resection is done
between 1 and 6 months of age as the scope for compensatory lung growth after resection is much
better in infants compared to adults.
The standard therapy has been a posterolateral thoracotomy or median–sternotomy with
intrapulmonary cysts requiring segmental or lobar resection.
Histopathological Examination in this patient revealed hyalinised collagen tissue devoid of any
lining epithelium except a localized area having squamous epithelium and syncytium with multiple
nuclei.
The underlying lung parenchyma showed dilated bronchioles, normal alveolar spaces and focal

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome I myself have struggled with issues for years before I was diagnosed

the inability to conceive. I found that research is becoming more descriptive and in depth as time

cause of PCOS. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a heath disorder that affects females, and is a more
common disorder in women than most people realize.

What is a cyst? A cyst is a sac or bubble that is filled with fluid. Some cyst can be uncomfortable
and cause extensive pain when they rupture, however in this instant and in most cases they are not
harmful to the body and once ruptured the pain normally ends. What are some of the symptoms
caused by PCOS? Some of the most common symptoms are missed or irregular periods, meaning
you can go months at a time without having a menstrual cycle, also many small cysts form in and on
their ovaries. According to the PCOS fact sheet, 'infertility (inability to get pregnant) because of not
ovulating, is the most common cause of female infertility". Since the body produces these male
hormones it can cause women to have ("Hirsutism") excessive body and facial hair on the toes and

bleeding associated with abdominal bloating, swelling, painful bowel movements, pelvic pain

one of her ovaries; therefore, a pregnancy test, a CA–125 blood test, and an ultrasound test were
ordered to confirm suspicions of an ovarian cyst or ovarian cancer. Furthermore, the ultrasound test
will help to determine the size, correct location, shape, and composition of the cyst such as solid or

Cyst Reflection
As a child, I always had the mindset of being invincible, like nothing on the earth could hurt me.
That mindset carried on with me throughout my life, even regarding my health. I had always
thought I was in perfect health and always would be, at least until I was in my 40's. I've always had
good blood pressure and all my checkups would go smoothly with zero problems. I had a lifelong
fear of breaking a bone or having to get surgery, and I was thankful to never have needed surgery or
broken a bone. But everyone's day has to come, right? One day my luck finally ran out. During
September of 2015, I was at my Gynecologist's office for my yearly checkup; a hoop to jump
through in order to continue receiving my birth control medication. My doctor had to do all the
typical things that go along with a check–up: checking my reflexes, checking my blood pressure,

cancerous until she operated. This was another shock to me; I'd be going under the knife! That
freaked me out! I had never needed surgery before so a variety of scenarios were zipping through
my head. The only way the doctors could see if the cyst was cancerous was to get a sample which
would happen during removal in surgery. My dad, unlike me, was keeping his composure pretty
well. Without surprise, he immediately had questions.
My dad asked, "Are their risks to the surgery?"

Diet, Micronutrients And Nutrition Supplements
Diet, micronutrients and nutrition supplements have long been studied and utilized in the
maintenance of skin health, beauty and integrity. The skin is the largest organ of the body, consisting
of three layers: the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis, providing a protective layer from the external
environment.1 The dermis and hypodermis contain the cutaneous vascular system, allowing for
deliverance of nutrients to the skin, temperature regulation, immune function and wound healing.
Manifestations of poor skin health can be caused by various nutritionally related conditions, such as
vitamin deficiencies, malnutrition or obesity, as well as other disease states that can negatively
impact normal skin physiology. Nutrition as a treatment or causation of certain skin diseases, such
as atopic dermatitis and non–melanoma skin cancer has become a controversial area of study.2 One
of the most disputed controversies in the history of dermatological research has involved the role of
nutrition in acne development. It is estimated that greater than 17 million Americans suffer from
acne, resulting in negative psychological and emotional impacts.3 The disease effects between 80–
90% of adolescents in America, yet is also prevalent in many adults, with the average age of
treatment being 24. Since acne often persists into adulthood, hormonal imbalances and endocrine

The Anatomy of Hair
Hair is fibre, and it is a lot like wool. Every hair has three layers. The first and inner most layer of

layer is called the cuticle and it protects the other sensitive layers underneath from breakage or
damage. Each hair grows around 0,653cm each month out of the follicles in our heads and it may
keep growing for up to 6 years until it falls out and there is space for new hair to grow. The length of
your hair depends on how long it grows for. If it only grows for less years than the average growth

Birt–Hogg–Dubé (BHD) syndrome (OMIM 135150) is a rare, autosomal dominant, hamartoma
disorder which is characterized by benign tumours of the hair follicle (fibrofolliculomas), lung cysts
and pneumothorax (collapsed lung), and renal neoplasia. BHD was first described in 1977 by three
Canadian doctors – Birt, Hogg and Dubé (Birt et al. 1977). The syndrome had also been identified

Prostaglandin D2: A Case Study
DISCUSSION
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common worldwide problem. It is manifested by progressive hair
loss in scalp hair, and has specific patterns of hair loss in women versus men, but central scalp is
most severely affected (Varothai and Bergfeld , 2014).
In Androgenetic alopecia there is conversion of circulating androgens into dihydrotestosterone
within the hair follicle (Sadighha and Zahed, 2009).
The bioactivity of Lipids in the skin in health and disease is unexplored. Prostaglandin D2 has been
identified to be elevated in the bald scalp of men with AGA and it decreases hair lengthening
(Nieves and Garza, 2014).

Also, (Oztuk et al.,2014) reported that there was a strong correlation between BMI and severity of
AGA.
There has been no study on the correlation between BMI and PGD2 level. The study of Garza et al.,
(2012) didn't correlate BMI with local production of PGD2. Prostaglandin D2 locally produced
inside bald scalp should be correlated with BMI to better elucidate its role in the pathogenesis of
androgenetic alopecia.
In our study, there was a negative strong correlation between the serum level of PGD2 and the
duration of androgenetic alopecia.
This could be explained by the results of (Springer et al.,2003) who reported that AGA increased
with prolonged duration of the disease due to androgen exposure shortens hair follicle anagen phase
as men with increased androgen levels and women with increased 5 reductase enzyme. Affected hair
become shorter, finer, less pigmented and progresses with each successive cycle related to higher

  • 5. One Little X Ray. Biopsy, Surgery, Cancer One Little X–ray Biopsy, Surgery, Cancer. How would you feel if a doctor said these three words to you? These 3 very scary words can change your life and they changed mine. On a bitter cold December day when I was in the 7th grade, my mom took me to the orthodontist office in Sioux Falls. When he announced the news that I needed braces, I was not real thrilled. I tried to think about the fact that I would eventually have perfect, straight teeth but I wasn't ready to give up caramel apples. Although I liked straight teeth, I did not like braces, but my orthodontist said I must have them. At the appointment, my orthodontist performed an x–ray to fit my braces. The ticking of the clock was a booming drum in the waiting room. It felt like we were waiting in the little cramped room for hours but it was only 15 minutes. When we received the results, we were devastated. We were told I had a mass growing in my jaw that was eating away my bone. From the x–ray, it didn't look like I had much bone left. Remember, I kept thinking that the doctor was wrong because my jaw didn't hurt. When are doctors wrong? I kept thinking about the weekend before when my basketball team played in a very rough basketball tournament at the Dakota Dome. My team played 5 games and made it to the championship. Lennox Lady O's took home a huge trophy. When I told the doctor about the basketball game, he kind of freaked out! He told me he couldn't believe that my jaw didn't break on the court and he told me I was out of sports for a while. Devastation hit me like a ton of bricks. P.E class wasn't even a possibility. Biopsy of the mass was the next step. Biopsy, which meant surgery. Surgery, which meant going under anesthesia. I had gone under anesthesia one other time and it didn't go very well. My doctor then told me something that I will always remember, Dr. Christ was concerned that the "mystery mass" was cancerous. What, I couldn't believe it!! My jaw didn't even hurt!! He then went on to explain that because my jaw was so fragile that there was a chance it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cann was lucky to have caught cancer just in time If Cann hadn't gotten the cyst removed at the time that she had, one more month of waiting could have meant the difference between life and death. Thank goodness that she decided to see her doctor and that her doctor was available to see her in a timely manner! Cann was told that she caught her disease just in the nick of time to give her a favorable prognosis. Why is it so hard to catch ovarian cancer early? The difficulty in catching ovarian cancer early lies in the elusive nature of the signs and symptoms. The most common symptoms reported are increased fatigue, needing to pee more often, persistent bloating, and stomachaches. Because ovarian cancer can become so large as to obstruct other organs in the body, women can sometimes feel unusually full only after a small meal or snack. This can cause some patients to lose their appetites as well. When working women and full–time mothers are bustling around the house or office, it can be easy to miss these changes in your body.

  • 12. A Short Story : Bully : The Story Of Autumn BullyThis story is about Autumn. Autumn was born a normal, healthy child but a sudden accident had happened when she was 8 years old. She was sitting on a small tree branch 7 feet above the ground. The branch snapped due to a sudden gust of wind. She hurt her arm badly with a gash the length of her forearm and a large bump on her head. It took her several weeks to heal, and the bump on her head had long–term effects on her personality. As the years went by Autumn gradually turned into a introvert. She didn't take part in social gatherings or any other situation that involved groups of people. People would comment in hushed voices on the change in her personality compared to a few years before. The other kids in her neighborhood felt sorry for her and didn't bother her, but they never tried to befriend her, either. Instead, they eventually began telling lies and making up stories about Autumn that weren't true. Some people believed the stories and starting teasing her. Especially Britney, which was one of the most popular girls at Autumn's school. The Baker's Cyst Removal Garcia, Amber Baker's Cyst Removal MDA 130 Mr. Kennedy Baker's Cyst Removal The man who first discovered the baker's cyst in the mid 1800's was a british man named Dr. William Morant Baker. A baker's cyst also known as a popliteal cyst is located in the middle of the semimembranosus tendon and medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle (Snir, 2013). Sometimes the Baker's cyst can be mistaken for a blood clot because it presents the same symptoms. A magnetic resonance imaging scan (MRI) can determine if the patient indeed has a cyst on the back of their leg. Other tests may be done to make sure that the cyst is not a malignant or benign tumor before the surgeon tries to excise it. A baker's cyst is formed when a patient has damage, arthritis, or a meniscus tear in their knee. Rheumatoid arthritis and Osteoarthritis are generally the main cause of a formation of a baker's cyst (Houston Methodist, 2015). Although any kind of knee injury could eventually lead to a painful baker's cyst. Too much exercise can also hinder the healing of the cyst. It is not always possible to see any changes to the cancer cell, unlike in humans where we can see changes in color etc. Therefore a biopsy is the only guaranteed way to confirm if they are benign or malignant. A biopsy is simply the removal of a small sample of the tumor which is sent off for pathology testing. If the tumor is small your vet may remove all of it to be used for the biopsy. If the growth is larger, over an inch in diameter, then your vet will take a cell sample by aspiration. This is a simple procedure where they insert a fine needle into the tumor and withdraw a small amount of the cell for further testing. Skin Papillomas Skin papillomas on dogs are growths ... • 37. Personal Narrative : My Family History I have always been mature for my age, growing up an only child kind of does that to you. I had to watch over my little cousins quite often and at that time in my life, I dreaded babysitting. The crying, the screaming, the tantrums; they annoyed me to no end. Olivia, being the youngest, would say, "your not the boss of me!" Umm, actually I am while your parents are away, so please just listen to what I ask of you. After two long years of babysitting, I had decided I really did not like kids, that I would never have any of my own. But when I turned fifteen, I regretted ever saying that, seeing as my family history was about to catch up to me. I always knew there was something "off" when it came to genetics in my family. I decided to Google some of my symptoms; which was the wrong thing to do. I have cancer? I am dying? Google, although very handy at times, was my worst enemy that night. I finally decided to talk to my mom; she had been through this, she would know what to do. She told me that she had already noticed what was going on and had scheduled an appointment at a gynecologist for me. Oh no, I am not going there. Mom, you know what they do to women there, right? Within the next couple of weeks I was sitting on a cold, hard doctors bed, wearing a paper vest, looking down at the foot stirrups, shaking to my core, just waiting for the doctor to tell me the inevitable. • 38. Diet, Micronutrients And Nutrition Supplements Diet, micronutrients and nutrition supplements have long been studied and utilized in the maintenance of skin health, beauty and integrity. The skin is the largest organ of the body, consisting of three layers: the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis, providing a protective layer from the external environment.1 The dermis and hypodermis contain the cutaneous vascular system, allowing for deliverance of nutrients to the skin, temperature regulation, immune function and wound healing. Manifestations of poor skin health can be caused by various nutritionally related conditions, such as vitamin deficiencies, malnutrition or obesity, as well as other disease states that can negatively impact normal skin physiology. Nutrition as a treatment or causation of certain skin diseases, such as atopic dermatitis and non–melanoma skin cancer has become a controversial area of study.2 One of the most disputed controversies in the history of dermatological research has involved the role of nutrition in acne development. It is estimated that greater than 17 million Americans suffer from acne, resulting in negative psychological and emotional impacts.3 The disease effects between 80– 90% of adolescents in America, yet is also prevalent in many adults, with the average age of treatment being 24. • 40. Bhd Syndrome Essay 1.1 Birt–Hogg–Dubé Syndrome Birt–Hogg–Dubé (BHD) syndrome (OMIM 135150) is a rare, autosomal dominant, hamartoma disorder which is characterized by benign tumours of the hair follicle (fibrofolliculomas), lung cysts and pneumothorax (collapsed lung), and renal neoplasia. BHD was first described in 1977 by three Canadian doctors – Birt, Hogg and Dubé (Birt et al. 1977). The syndrome had also been identified 1975 by Hornstein and Knickenberg (Hornstein & Knickenberg 1975) and there has been suggestion of renaming the disease to Hornstein–Birt–Hogg–Dubé, however due to confusion this name was never used. • 41. Prostaglandin D2: A Case Study DISCUSSION Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common worldwide problem. It is manifested by progressive hair loss in scalp hair, and has specific patterns of hair loss in women versus men, but central scalp is most severely affected (Varothai and Bergfeld , 2014). In Androgenetic alopecia there is conversion of circulating androgens into dihydrotestosterone within the hair follicle (Sadighha and Zahed, 2009). The bioactivity of Lipids in the skin in health and disease is unexplored. Prostaglandin D2 has been identified to be elevated in the bald scalp of men with AGA and it decreases hair lengthening (Nieves and Garza, 2014). The study of Garza et al., (2012) didn't correlate BMI with local production of PGD2. Prostaglandin D2 locally produced inside bald scalp should be correlated with BMI to better elucidate its role in the pathogenesis of androgenetic alopecia. In our study, there was a negative strong correlation between the serum level of PGD2 and the duration of androgenetic alopecia. This could be explained by the results of (Springer et al.,2003) who reported that AGA increased with prolonged duration of the disease due to androgen exposure shortens hair follicle anagen phase as men with increased androgen levels and women with increased 5 reductase enzyme. Affected hair become shorter, finer, less pigmented and progresses with each successive cycle related to higher dihydrotestosterone (DHT) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
