Task 7 evaluation
1. Task 7 Evaluation
I was givenatask withmychosengroup to create a short horrorfilmcalledthe devil'splayground
our firststoryline we made didnotmeetthe requirementsthatwe thoughtwouldbe available tous
so we all decidedtochange the whole storylineandchange the filmcompletelymeaningthe
characters hadto be changedaroundand we had to use otherpeople fromadifferentgroupasone
of mygroup memberswasn'tintofilmfor5 days.Anotherthingthatwasn't verygoodwas the
microphone asitwas brokenso insteadwe hadto use the camera whichpickedupa lot of
backgroundnoise while we were filmingwe alsocouldn'tuse locationsthatwe needed.Whatwe did
well wascreate anotherstoryline veryquicklythatwasmuchbetterthanour original ideathe way
we filmedthemwasmuchbetteraswe got more ideasalongthe way andwhenwe startedto edit
our newfilmwe addedmusic, atitle screenandstartedto cut the bad shotsout of our filmmakingit
evenbetter.
In the original ideamyrole wasto be the killersfriendandhelphimkidnapthe personandi onlyhad
twolinesmeaningmycharacterwas verylimitedtowhathe can dobut inthe new ideamyrole was
to be a friendof someone whogotmurderedi hadmore linesmore actionstododuringthe film
makingmycharacter betterand maybe more interesting.
In our filmwe metall the requirementswe were giveninourbrief asourevidence we putall of our
workwe done duringthe filmonour blogsthe thingsthat we shouldhave improvedonisthe time
as we didn'tuse it verywell whenwe haditandmaybe the mic as it wouldhave made the sound
betterforour film.Inthe endi thinkitwentprettywell aswe managedtofinishthe filmwithall
these difficultiesinourway.
At the lastscene of our filmI thoughtof the ideato use the camera differentlyconsideringthatmost
of ourcamera workwas done witha shouldermountsoI decidedtodoa POV (Pointof view shot) as
it wouldcreate amore realisticendingratherthanusinga shouldermountanditwouldbe easierto
filmitwentreallywell andmade the killerevenmore suspiciousyetterrifyingbyusingPOV ithelped
us a lotwiththisscene. Inanotherscene Aaronwalkedacrossthe bridge we useda close upshot to
catch the expressionof Aaron’s face whichwasveryblandandwe also useda wide shotto getthe
bridge andAaron inthe scene to showhe is walkingacrossitwe trackedAaron byusinga panning
shot. In the scene Aaronwas wearingheadphonesashe walksoutthe library listeningtomusic
whenwe were editingdecidedthatwe shouldhave the songthatAaron waslisteningtowhile
walkingthe reasonIthoughtof thiswasto make the scene more realisticandto show that Aaron
doesn’tcare and ispayingno attentiontohissurroundings.Iwasdoingthe endcreditswith
someone else we made thatverysimpleandforourintro we will addmusiceitherscaryor simple. In
the last scene we addedacamera borderto make the POV evenmore realisticasitlookslike ithasa
batterylife andmore itmakesthe scene seemmore real we got the template forthe camerafrom
online.Thiscanfitthe target audience well asitwouldlookmore appealingtothemas the scene
itself looksmore terrifying.
Andfinallyfromthisexperience I’ve learnedhow toedit some communicationskills andmuchmore
withmygroup and some camerashotsduringthisas well
