Use slow shutter speeds to create neat effects in the dark and with motion.

Step 2: Using Shutter Priority Setting
Get a TRIPOD and plate and use Tv & Manual settings
Ask teacher for the REMOTE for camera to shoot without standing behind camera
Part I: Slow Shutter (use 15 or less – remember that “ = seconds)
Set camera to Tv and set the SHUTTER SPEED at various levels under 30 to stand for the amount of
seconds the shutter will stay open
1. Outside---use panning effect to blur background of car going by with car in focus
2. Inside—make your partner appear as a ghost by moving out of shot while shooting it
3. Inside---use zoom to create spiral effect of object
4. Inside---make water from fountain look soft, almost blurred as it flows out
5. Inside---have one person perfectly still as people pass blurred behind

Part II: Bulb (close up your aperture to F22 and use low ISO)
Set the camera to M and select BULB; here the shutter will stay open as long as you choose
Turn the lights off in the darkroom and light up someone’s face with a cell phone. Hold down the
shutter button for a while to get the picture to appear.
