• Shalwar is a traditional
and regional dress which
is worn mostly by
women . Shalwar is
loose dress like trousers.
The legs are wide at the
top , and narrow at the
ankle. Today , in our
region most women
wear it in the villages.

4. ALDUVAK(BRIDAL VEIL)
• Bridal Veil is a kind of
cloth with lace and pile
fabric. The brides wear it
to cover their faces until
they get married
• It may be short or long .
After marriage , ceremony
groom removes it. Red
means to get the brides
good luck.

5. ÜÇETEK
• It is a kind of dress worn over shalwar
by women. It is also called zıbın in the
villages of the region .

6. • Silvery and silk clothes are usually
used. Red , purple , pink and brown
clothes are mostly preferred.

• Waistband is wrapped
around the waist of
üçetek . It is also
ornamented with tinsel
fringes . In the past
people would use it
instead of belt.

8. YAZMA (CREPE)
Crepe is a kind of head scarf
that is ornamented with
needle lace. Each needle
lace motif has a different
meaning . If a bride wears a
pepper laced crepe , it means
that she is unhappy . If she
wears a rose laced crepe , it
means that she is happy and
peaceful in her marriage.

• Bindallı is a kind of women
dress that has come from
the Ottoman Empire to now
with an original style. In
Ottoman Period girls would
wear "bindallı" at their
weddings and all the other
wedding ceremonies after
their marriages.

dress that is
ornamented
different kinds of
patterns with metal
string on velvet
cloth.It is a long
dress and also has
long sleeve. It is
usually dark blue ,
purple , green or
dark red.

of "bindallı". But now in
our region brides wear
bindallı at their henna
nights before a day of

14. The Efe were the leaders of Turkish irregular soldiers from
the Aegean Region of Anatolia , called the Zeybek.
(Zeibeks )

15. • The Efe were distinctive in their attire ,
weapons and general appearance .For
example , they wore shorter trousers and
a yataghan with only one side with a
sharpened point.

• Fes is a kind of felt hat of two types : either
in the shape of a truncated cone made of
red felt, or a short cylinder made of kilim
fabric.

Potur is a kind of shorter
trousers that is wide to
kneecap and narrow at the
bottom . It is usually worn by
the Efe

18. KÖRÜKLÜ ÇİZME (HOODED BOOTS)
• It is known that in
the past the Efe
wore hooded boots
in Aegean Region
especially in Aydın
.Nowadays they are
only used for folk
dances on special
festivals and
celebrations .

19. KUŞAK (WAISTBAND)
• The Efe wraps it around their
waist , they put a handkerchief
inside it.

20. CAMADAN
• It is a kind of crosswise and two-breasted
short sleeve waistcoat. It is made of velvet.
Sleeve without sewing is called "cepken"

21. These are Turkish modern uniforms instead of
the Efe clothes which were the Aegean soldiers
in the past.

22. CIRCUMCISION
Circumcision is a
religious and cultural
ritual for male children
who are at the age of
2-10 Boys wear a
special clothes on that
day.

23. The boy usually
wears a white ,
black or dark blue
trousers ; a white
shirt . He puts on a
feathery cape and
holds an ornamental
stick.He also wears
a feathery and
gorgeous hat.

25. • In the past some people used "Kundak" (
swaddle cloth ) to wrap the babies firmly in
our region . It is believed that it makes
babies more relax while sleeping .But
nowadays hardly nobody does it.
