Little Richard Research Paper
Some may know him as Richard Penniman, and others may know him well by the all legendary
Little Richard. This king of Rock 'N' Roll brought you the all–time #1 hit "Tutti–Fruity" in 1955,
and "Long Tall Sally" in 1956. Rolling Stone Magazine choose him as the 8th Greatest Rock 'N'
Roll Artist. This paper will be telling the life of rock artist Little Richards' life from the start of his
music career to present day.
On the day of the December 5th of 1932 a legend was born as Richard Wayne Penniman but better
known to many by his stage name as little Richard. He was born in Macon, Georgia; he was one of
the 12 children raising their small family home. Richard did not have a close relationship with his

Little Richard was honored to be first of the ten in 1986 to be introduced into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall
of Fame. Not only was he honored to be a part of the rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame as well as gaining
the inspiring Pioneer Award, but the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences also
awarded Little Richard with the achievement award in 1993.
In the past years we have not seen this rock star in action. Little Richard is known to now be taking
a break from his music and performing publicly. Recently in 2012, Richard got sick during a show
and then months later suffered a heart attack that he was not even aware of. Thankful for taking a
baby aspirin, it saved his live and Richard survived.
Little Richard went through many life decisions and continuing rollercoaster with his Rock career.
Between juggling being closely involved with the ministry and constantly trying to keep with the
enthusiastic fans, he will forever be credited for his defining and developing the way the world sees
Rock 'N' Roll today. Little Richard will always be remembered for marking history, and for being
the great actress, pianist, singer and songwriter that he was. Although he has not performed in
roughly two years, he still rocks it out with singing in his daily routine. To this day, thanks to the
live saving aspirin this legend is still alive and well, and never to be

The Music Of Guns N ' Roses '
Guns N' Roses is a heavy metal band that helped the rise of heavy metal as the mainstream genre in
the 1980's. Their music has a unique sound with influences from heavy metal and hair metal/glam
metal periods. One song that illustrates both of these musical influences is the song "Welcome to the
Jungle" on the album "Appetite for Destruction".
The members of Guns N' Roses got their start as a band in Los Angeles, California. At the time of
their band rising to fame, America was still in the transition of heavy metal becoming a mainstream
genre again. Although metal was present throughout the 1980's it was not until the late 80's when it
achieved mainstream success. The popular music genres at the time were hip–hop, electronic music,
soft rock, alternative rock, and pop music. Country music was also a popular genre of music in the
early 1980's but eventually got less popular. While Guns n' Roses were building up their popularity
it took nearly a year to get the gigs they were looking for. In that year the odds were against the
band. They had a hard time when it came to getting gigs because "... a series of frenzied, violent
shows landed the Gunners on the shit list of everyone, including club owner, rival bands and the
press – everyone but the fans, who grew in numbers with each passing gig," (Del, "Axl Rose: The
Rolling Stone Interview"). Once they had a large fan base, Tom Zutaut noticed the bands popularity
and decided to sign them to Geffen Records in 1986. Even though

Case Study: A Rape On Campus
This case study will examine the ethical issues journalists face when reporting rape and sexual
assault stories, with specific analysis on the story published in Rolling Stone magazine titled: 'A
Rape On Campus.' It will demonstrate the poor decisions made by journalists through their lack of
fact checking and their negative portrayal of character. I will use ethical theory and self–regulation
codes to establish where the journalist in question crossed the line in their reporting. This case study
will highlight the impact of the article and will establish better methods of practice to avoid a
repetition of this style of reporting in future rape/sexual assault cases. CASE BACKGROUND
On November 19 2014, Rolling Stone magazine published a controversial article detailing an
alleged gang rape at the University of Virginia, USA. In the story the victim, identified as Jackie,
claimed that she was beaten and raped by seven men at the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity house. The
9,000 word piece was met with a nationwide outrage and the school ended up suspending all
fraternities. However, the claims of Jackie were quickly questioned and Charlottesville police found
no evidence that rape had occurred. It later came out that Sabrina Rubin Erdely, the ... Show more

Like A Rolling Stone Poem Analysis
Bob Dylan's song "Like a Rolling Stone" was written in 1965 after he had taken a break from the
famous life. Like many of his songs, this specific song has a special meaning to him. In the majority
of his interviews he bashes his songs and doesn't give us the true meaning of them. Dylan does not
give the meaning of his songs for the sole purpose of his listeners to have their own interpretation of
the song. My interpretation of "Like a Rolling Stone" is about an unidentified woman referred to as
"Miss Lonely" (13) who's has been given everything in life and her fall from fame. In the words of
Dylan, "How does it feel, ah how does it feel?/ To be on your own, with no direction home/ Like a
complete unknown"(46–48) the woman falls from fame and is left on the streets lonely, homeless,
and unknown. In order to write such a poetic song Dylan used imagery, descriptive words, form,
metaphors, similes, and alliteration to covey the message. In the structure of the song Dylan uses
third person point of view to tell the story of the woman. He uses the word "you" which tells us that
someone is speaking directly to the woman. There are eight stanzas and in between each on there is
a repeating stanza, the chorus, which asks the woman a the question "How does it feel" The rhyming
scheme in each stanza of "Like a Rolling Stone" is A–B–A–C–C–D–D–E. In the first stanza second
line, there is and internal rhyme with the words "dime" and "prime". Other scheme is, The las word
of each stanza all rhymed. Dylan uses figures of speech in the lyrics like similes and metaphors. The
title itself is a simile, "Like a Rolling Stone" meaning to be lost and spinning out of control, just like
the woman life. Alliteration means, the commencement of two or more stressed syllables of a word
group either with the same consonant sound or sound group. This was shown in the first stanza,
"Once upon a time you dressed so fine/Threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?/ People
call say 'beware doll, you're bound to fall'/ You thought they were all kidding you/ You used to laugh
about/ Everybody that was hanging out/ Now you don't talk so loud/ Now you don't seem so proud/
About having to be scrounging your next meal" The alliteration

negative statement than one of patriotism. At least, that's how I interpreted the lyrics. Throughout
the song, the same two keyboard (synthesizer?) chord is repeated, while the drums mostly keeps the
same beat. It toke a couple listens and watching the music video to hear that the electric guitar also
has an influence after the first verse. As much as I generally enjoy Springsteen's work of the

But, his vocals are meant to angry as, in one respect, this is a protest song.

Patti Smith: Her Significance In Music
Patti Smith, Her Significance in Music
She is known as one of the most influential artists of the emerging New York City punk rock
movement. Born in Chicago in 1945, Patti Smith came to New York City in 1970 as a painter, writer
and a performer; working with such artists as her then boyfriend, controversial photographer, Robert
Mapplethrope, and actor Sam Sheppard. Furthermore, she was also writing for such magazines as

Patti was and still is to some extent a shock performer, with loads of an aggressive energy and non–

Always the activist, Patti has a unique perspective on feminism. In an interview from 1976 she
shared how the title of Ms. was "really bullshit". She went on to say famously that "Vowels are the
colors and souls of poetry and speech. And these assholes take the only fuckin' vowel out of the

Analysis Of The Article ' Rolling Stone Magazine '
Through poor journalistic choices, Rolling Stone Magazine has landed in some hot water with the
publication of the article A Rape on Campus, regarding the alleged gang rape that took place at the
Phi Kappa Psi fraternity house located on the University of Virginia's campus two years ago.
Because of their lack of neutral reporting, Rolling Stone will most likely be potentially facing
multiple liable lawsuits brought against them in the near future.
1. I believe that Rolling Stone defamed the fraternity in question (assuming that their allegations are
not 100% fact) because of the allegations made in their article. It has come to light in recent days
that Jackie, the alleged victim's, story may not be supported factually. The article identified the
fraternity in question by not only publishing its name, Phi Kappa Psi, but they also told where the
fraternity was located on campus, as well as mentioned the fraternity's involvement in previous
sexual assault cases that have taken place at UVA in the past. The article was published in the most
recent publication of the Rolling Stone Magazine, so the fraternity in question does in fact have a
libel case against Rolling Stone, if the allegations are false.
There is not a defamation–of–group case because the accusation is only referring to 7 members of
the large fraternity, which likely has more than 75 members. However, the article suggests that the
gang rape took place as a part of an initiation ritual, which implies that every

Analysis Of Here There Be Tygers By Stephen King
Stephen King was born in 1947 into a poor family that was later abandoned by his father. He always
had a passion for writing and became a high school teacher before he could kick–start his
outstanding writing career says Biography.com. "Here There Be Tygers" is one of King's earlier
works and it emits strong similarities between the short story and his life. Such as, it is set in a
school and he was formerly a teacher. Also in the actual piece, "Here There Be Tygers" a boy has to
go to the bathroom but is afraid of the teacher so he holds it until the teacher calls him out on having
to go. From there he goes to the bathroom, which is in the eerie basement and to his surprise he
finds a tiger. He goes back up without going to the bathroom to find his friend coming to get him
because he was gone so long. The boy tells of the tiger, but his friend doesn't believe him and
against the boy's discretion his friend goes down to the tiger and is presumably dead. He goes back
up and almost goes into the girl's bathroom, but decides to go back down to the awaiting killer tiger
again because he would rather get eaten by a tiger than embarrassed and criticised by his peers for
going to the bathroom in the girl's room. The underlying message I got from this short story was
how society judges and treats people for things they can't help, such as having to pee. Anyway, this
could connect to Stephen King and how he felt as a boy or even now in this world where we judge
people on everything. In an interview with The Rolling Stone, Stephen says, "They're always
dreams that focus on some kind of shame or insecurity" (Green, The Rolling Stone.) This shows
how Stephen King connects with the way Charles feels about having to go to the bathroom in class,
he connects with the insecurities and shame he must feel. So I believe that Charles could be a
version of himself just in an alternate world he made for himself. Stephen sets it in a school to give a
basis for old or young readers so that you can relate to it. He also creates a suspense that is the
general focus throughout the whole short story. Lastly, King creates a simple read with non–
complex sentences that any age could read. Another short story by Stephen King is "The House On

The Hero's Journey in Cameron Crowe's Film "Almost Famous"
Almost Famous (2000) is a dramatization of writer/director Cameron Crowe's real–life experiences
as a teenage rock reporter for Rolling Stone. Based on thinly–veiled autobiographical material from
the precocious beginnings of Crowe's early career, the screenplay shapes sentimental memories into
movie magic. But how did Crowe give his own coming–of–age tale such universal appeal? A closer
look reveals that Almost Famous, like most films worth their salt, is yet another incarnation of the
greatest and only mythological adventure, "The Hero's Journey." This relationship can be explained

He doesn't refuse the call. It's his mother that needs convincing. "As long as I know this is just a

"protective aspect of the THRESHOLD GUARDIAN" (Campbell 82). Notebook in hand, William
knocks at the backstage door. The surly bouncer that answers is the personification of another aspect
of the THRESHOLD GUARDIAN, an ogre of ill will who slams the door on William because he's
"not on the list." William joins a nearby cluster of waiting girls and is instantly smitten by the lovely
Penny Lane–not a groupie, but a retired "Band–Aid." When the girls get whisked backstage, Penny
promises to try to get him a pass, establishing herself as one of his ALLIES.
As William waits, the members of the band Stillwater arrive late to the show. Recognizing them, he
introduces himself as a journalist and asks for an interview. They refuse, yelling, "The enemy! A
rock writer." It's no accident that this nickname sticks. The band members–particularly Russell
Hammond, the guitarist–are the ENEMIES of William's adventure. Far from traditional, out–and–
out villains, these antagonists take more "curiously fluid, ambiguous forms." (Campbell 97) They
are the SHAPESHIFTERS that Lester Bangs has warned him against, the "fake friends" that will
"ruin rock and roll." It's not until William flatters them with his detailed knowledge of their music
that they offer up a fickle form of friendship, bringing

Even though I'm a fan of the Rolling Stones, I never really knew their history and how Brian Jones

with drug addiction that lead to the end of his career and eventually his early death shortly after he
left the Rolling Stones. Despite their loss, The Rolling Stones continued on and performed a concert
shortly after in Brian's memory. Not to my surprise, the remaining members continued on a path of
struggles with addiction.
Though they were constantly in the media for all of their scandals, I found it interesting to learn that
their struggles actually helped contribute to their fame, especially with the younger generations. In
my opinion, this set the trend for all of the other rock and roll bands to come. Reflecting on some
other rock and roll bands that come to mind, it seems that they all have one thing in common. That
one thing usually involves drug addiction that opens the door for other unfortunate events. Oddly

Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones is influential because it talks about the chaos surrounding the
Vietnam War and protests concerning the war. The Rolling Stones believe that the chaos of war has
spread outside the realms of war as was traditionally known. The Rolling Stones have never shyed

written and released in 1969 in the thick of the Vietnam War and the height of it's subsequent
protest. The Vietnam War was known as The Living Room War because it was the first consistently

In "Gimme Shelter", The Rolling Stones sing, "see the fire is sweeping our very street today", this
shows the frenzy and the extent of war protests in the late sixties. Prior to 1965, opposition to the
Vietnam War was primarily a leftist view but due to efforts by returning vetrans and media
publications a broad majority of Americans felt indifferent towards involvement in the war. High
profile figures such as Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Jane Fonda, Muhhamed Ali, and
John Lennon had all been outspoken opponents of the war. American religious groups took a
pascifist view and called for peace as soon as possible. In 1968 there were 221 protests at 101
universities as over 16,000 Americans were killed in Vietnam during that year and public awareness
of atrocities committed by the United States in Vietnam was heightened. By the end of the 1960's
protesting had become violent as indicated by the line in "Gimme Shelter", "gimme shelter or i'm
going to fade away" which speaks to the feeling of danger and closeness to the war in citizen's daily
lives and the need for escapement. A faction of the Students for a Democratic Society arose with a
more militant stance and advocated for the destruction of governemnt property and war materials

Stephen King Analysis
Stephen King was born in 1947 into a poor family that was later abandoned by his father. He always
had a passion for writing and became a high school teacher before he could kick–start his
outstanding writing career says, "Biography.com". Stephen King, a 'New York Times'–bestselling
novelist and one of the most well known authors of our time, was directly influenced by the culture
he grew up in and his own experiences in life. "Here There Be Tygers" is one of King's earlier works
and it emits strong similarities between the short story and the culture he grew up in. In 1974, a year
after Stephen King's mother died of cancer, King had published the short story "Sometimes They

worse. In The double–edged pen: Omnipotent fantasies in the creativity and addictions of Stephen
King, King proposes, "The death of his mother was one of the major factors that propelled his
drinking habits to another level" (Kahoud 335). With those two things combined, death and
addiction, King was influenced. You can see this influence intermixed throughout the short story
"Sometimes They Come Back" and throughout many of his stories. In the story the tragedy of his
mother's cancer is seen throughout, for the main character's mother died of cancer as well (King 2).
The addiction is shown as well, through physical demons that drive the main character to an

How Did The Beatles Influence The British Invasion
Hayden Hall
MUH2019
9/5/14
The Beatles and The British Invasion The only successful invasion to happen on America's soil was
the British Invasion of the early 1960's, and thankfully it was a beneficial one to the United States at
that. The tide of new music that was the British Invasion housed one of the music industry's most
influential groups, which was The Beatles. They established themselves in Liverpool, United
Kingdom in 1960 and started out doing covers of songs, some of these being American songs, but
their real success began when they started writing their own music. The British Invasion included
several other influential bands such as The Who, the Rolling Stones, the Dave Clarke Five, the
Hollies and much more but the Beatles were undisputedly the most influential band of these music
groups. The United States was so receptive of the Beatles and this British Invasion for a multitude of
social reasons, and this reception led to the birth of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Girls They Fall For Jerks Analysis
Throughout the course of professor Lowenkrons' English 1013 class, we have analyzed many
examples of success. We concluded in the first essay that though success is subjective, there are
objective keys to success that each source used to achieve it. In the second essay, we studied the
career of the successful alternative rock band, Pearl Jam and the different ways they achieved and
maintained their success. In this last essay, we are going to focus on what it means to be part of a
community of successful people. A successful community benefits an individual in two ways. They
help by evolving the mindsets of others and offering support to overcome challenges. (Cracked.com)

David Wong teaches us how to stand back up after getting punched in the face with failure. In his
article, he uses the stereotypical nice guy who wants to get the girl, but ends up getting friend zoned.
The girl ends up falling for the jerk, leaving the nice guy upset and distraught. Instead of having
sympathy for the nice guy, Wong takes a different approach. In fact, he says, "Don't complain about
how girls fall for jerks; they fall for those jerks because those jerks have other things they can offer."
The moral of the story is that we are what we produce. In the cause of the nice guy, all that he
produced was that, he was in fact, a nice guy. There are thousands of "nice guys" in the world.
People want something different. Rejection is inevitable during the process of success. Every source
I have mentioned, have experienced rejection in one way or another. Mark Cuban was fired from his
job, David Wong faced rejection for 13 years before he made the New York Times' Best Seller List,
Pearl Jam lost their battle against Ticketmaster, and the Tortious was made fun of by the Hare.
Though their rejections were different, none let their rejections define who they were.

What Is The Impact Of Pablo Escobar War On Drugs
Before conducting my research for this project Pablo Escobar was just the average criminal who
sold drugs in a country filled with narcotics. I became more drawn to the life story of Pablo Escobar
after watching the critically acclaimed Netflix series, Narcos. Narcos tells the story of Pablo and his
rise and fall from power. Narcos is being told through the eyes of an American DEA agent working
to take down Pablo Escobar. That led me to question why America was concerned with a drug dealer
in Columbia, and what means they took to stop him. The aurora that Pablo had was larger than life. I
soon became enthralled by Pablo's story and soaked up every bit of information about him that I
could. I began my research by reading interviews given by people who were associated with Pablo.
Pablo's son, Sebastian Marroquin, has given many interviews and written books about his life as the
son of one of the most infamous criminals in history. From his interviews I learned more about just
how lavishly Pablo and his family lived. For a secondary source I used the Rolling Stone. The
Rolling Stone taught me about the cultural impacts that Pablo Escobar and the War on Drugs had on
America. It also gave me a summary of how America is still waging war against drugs today. ...

The Interview of Jimi Hendrix
Good afternoon readers, this is Will Pyron reporting in. I have just been hired by Rolling Stone
magazine to be the world's first Time Traveling Interviewer/Reporter and by using the patented
Rock'in, Every Now and Then® time machine. I am going to go back to the year 1970 to interview
Jimi Hendrix. I chose to interview Hendrix, because Rolling Stone considers him to be the greatest
guitar player of all time and the 6th greatest artist of all time. Hendrix lived a very short life dying
only at the age of 27 after overdosing on drugs. His music career only lasted a short four years, yet

effects and turn them into a completely new and unique sound unlike anything that had been heard

and what their true potential was. And then I will follow that question up by asking him "Who was
the first artist you heard that used effects in their music that really drew you in to wanting to

1960's Counterculture Movement
Introduction Culture, defined by the Merriam–Webster dictionary, is the traditional beliefs, social
forms, and characteristic features of everyday existence shared by people, whether racial, religious,

definitions, a counterculture is interpreted as a group of people who have views/beliefs that disagree
with the current societal characteristics of everyday life. There are and have been many
counterculture movements throughout history and the world. Countercultures that happen do not
have to be big; some can happen within small communities without recognition. This extended

How Did The British Invasion Influence People
The British are coming! The British are coming! The Rolling Stones rolled right into into America
during the British invasion with The Beatles and The Who. The Rolling Stones made it into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and are still touring after about fifty years from coming to America
during the British invasion.
People wonder how the Rolling Stones came to be. The Rolling Stones former members included
Bill Wyman playing the bass, Brian Jones playing guitar as well as Mick Taylor. The current
members of the Rolling Stones are Kieth Richard playing the guitar, and singing. Mick Jagger, and
Ron wood singing also, Charlie Watts plays the drums. In 1993, after the Steel Wheels/ Urban
Jungle tour, Bill decided it was time for him to retire from the group, he was tired of touring (Loss,
2004). Brian Jones stepped down from his position of the Rolling Stones leader as Mick Jagger had
taken over. Since then, the band got their first U.S. hit in 1964 with a cover for Not Fade Away by
Buddy Holly (Norman, 1998). Select critics followed the British invasion to change the favorite
genre of music for American teens. The British Invasion was a slang term to express the generation
of British bands that were popular in America following The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones in

Gimme Shelter is a categorical documentary that depicts the Rolling Stones and their free concert at
Altamont Speedway in 1969. With the documentaries direct cinema approach, the camera becomes
an observational tool, such as a fly on the wall, so it can focus on capturing the reality and full
representation of an event and its characters. In this case, it captures the tragedy and chaos that
shaped itself as one of the most disastrous and violent concerts of all time. Categorical documentary

This format follows a very simple, consistent pattern regardless of the topic. First, the subject is

Journalistic Dishonesty In Dante's Inferno
In her popular translation of Dante's Inferno, English writer Dorothy Sayers explains that Bolgia 9
in the eighth circle of hell is reserved for "sowers of discord," those who are "ready to rip up the
whole fabric of society to gratify a sectional egotism." If Dante had assigned fraudulent journalists a
place in hell–melodramatic as it is to think about–he probably would have put them in Bolgia 9. Any
intentional inaccuracy in a story is a betrayal of the public's trust and is inexcusable for a
professional whose job it is to report the truth; as Walter Lippmann once affirmed, "There can be no
higher law in journalism than to tell the truth and to shame the devil." But just as Dante recognized
in concocting his orderly progression of torment that there are shades of wrongness, so too are some
fraudulent stories are more deserving of condemnation than others. Below, I will examine five cases
of journalistic dishonesty– Janet Cooke's "Jimmy's World" in The Washington Post ("The Post"),
Jayson Blair's reporting for The New York Times ("The Times"), Mike Daisey's feature on This
American Life ("TAL"), Sabrina Erdely's "A Rape on Campus" in Rolling Stone Magazine (Rolling
Stone), and Stephen Glass's stories for The New Republic– and argue that the offences in each vary
in pervasiveness, level of duplicity, and impact on society. I will then scrutinize the responses of
each publisher, evaluating the timeliness and approach of each.

more than just entertaining music in their decade long run. On their eponymous 1968 self–titled

many a persons' attention for it's unusually "heavy" music style. While other songs on the album
also share this unusual aggression, most notably "Birthday" and the single version of "Revolution

Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band, has been considered to popularize the idea of a Concept Album,
or an album with every song on it having a unified lyrical theme ("The Beatles Release..."). While it
was Frank Zappa's band, Mothers of Inventions, that is typically considered introducing the first
conceptual rock album with 1966's Freak Out! it is the more commercially successful Sgt. Pepper
that really reinforced the idea of one (Riley 11). The albums' title track and its reprise bookend the

I'll never stop/I've been running hot/You got me just about to blow my top". When listening to this
song, does one hear the ravings of a man in love with a woman, or the beginning of an ad for
Microsoft Windows '95? Recently, popular artists are releasing more music with the intent of selling
out to big corporations. The Rolling Stones are an early example of this form of music production
when they sold "Start Me Up" to Microsoft for $3 million. This song was exploited for the sake ...

For example, I have seen many commercials featuring bands I recognize, often with catchy jingles
or lyrics. However, I rarely find myself listening to the actual content of the lyrics. I was once
watching a commercial for a microwaveable burrito company, in which Bon Jovi's "Wanted: Dead
or Alive" played. This song contains lyrics about gritty cowboys from the Midwest, not about a
simple microwaveable burrito. Since these two subject matters are completely different, I was left
with more confusion than with a craving for a burrito. If the company, for example, did a spin–off of
"Dead or Alive," including lyrics about a burrito, this would be more appealing to consumers as the
two subjects are in agreement. My friends and I thought that Bon Jovi's music had a deeper purpose
as opposed to being written just to be sold off to a burrito company. This resulted in a loss of respect
for the band in the eyes of me and my peers. Like Bon Jovi's situation, YouTube star Tay Zonday
who had his song "Chocolate Rain" go viral on the web, changed his song so that it could comply to
a Dr. Pepper's commercial . Zonday's immediate stardom sparked many businesses to try to take his
song. The winner of the rights to his song had Zonday change his lyrics in order to fit in with the Dr.
Pepper theme. This corporate scheme turned an original piece into a song that conformed with what

John Penn's Violation Of Media Ethics
The article published in the Rolling Stone the day after the capture of the infamous drug lord, El
Chapo, sparked conversation nationwide. Penned by actor and political activist Sean Penn, the
article is anchored by a private interview he had with El Chapo in October. The controversy
surrounding this article is directed towards the story behind the story, as Angela Kocherga described
in an interview with PBS Newshour. After speaking with Jann Wenner, founder of Rolling Stone,
Penn went forward with his interview without alerting authorities about his contact with one of the
world's most wanted fugitive. The question of whether or not Penn violated media ethics remains
unanswered as debates continue across the nation. From the interviews following the publication of
the article, it can be deduced that Penn is acting as a citizen journalist interested in improving the
state of journalism and that the editors of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his interview with 60 Minutes, Penn admitted that he spoke with the Wenner before venturing out
into the Mexican jungle to meet with El Chapo. Although the exact details of the conversation
remain unknown to the public, it can be assumed that the Rolling Stone founder granted permission
for the story. The green light granted to Penn made it seem valid to use surreptitious methods of
reporting to gain a story. Wenner did the exact opposite of minimizing harm as a journalist, as he
allowed someone with no real experience to go out to the field and communicate with a highly
dangerous fugitive. While Wenner did not have a direct role in the negotiation with El Chapo
regarding him approving the piece before publication, he did allow Penn to do what he wanted. By
giving El Chapo power to control the news, Rolling Stone might have sacrificed other quality
content in an attempt to prevent

Bruce Springsteen's Accomplishments
It was very enjoyable to listen to Bruce Springsteen's interview about his song picks. Most
importantly, I got introduced to so many old great songs that somehow also influence my mind. I am
a college student who is fascinated by old songs. I love Bruce Springsteen's choices. The songs he
picked not only pleased him acoustically, but also brought about great influence on his career
journey. It's all over now by The Rolling Stones never failed to inspire Bruce Springsteen in the
early stage of his career. At the time that he got thrown out of the band, he was frustrated and he
made up his mind of being a "lead guitar player". Through the repetitive practice, he finally
managed to play a "relatively decent version of Keith's solo". This record ... Show more content on

On one hand, Motown had been an essential element of his youth; on the other hand, the Motown
was a great school where he can learn his craft. This pick is valuable to him as it gives him the sense
that how great pop records can be structured and created. Like A Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan was
the song on top of his list and somehow transformed Bruce Springsteen's life. In this song, what
shocked him most was the snare drum that opened the song. The words he used to describe the
feeling towards this song were "torrent", "rushing towards", "floods", and "alerts". There was always
a song that hit someone in the way that exerted an enormous influence on someone's work and even
his/her life. Listening to this song, I had the similar feeling that the snare drum really pushed the
song up to another level. As for my self, I am very into I Want to Hold Your Hand by the Beatles.
Beatles have been one of my favorite bands since high school, and I have taken Beatles music class
in college. I Want to Hold Your Hand was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The former
was a legendary musician in the music industry, while the latter is still active on the stage as a
songwriter and singer. This song is remarkable to me since it was the first Beatles record that was
made utilizing the four–track equipment. Additionally, it was Beatles' first

  • 3. The Music Of Guns N ' Roses ' Guns N' Roses is a heavy metal band that helped the rise of heavy metal as the mainstream genre in the 1980's. Their music has a unique sound with influences from heavy metal and hair metal/glam metal periods. One song that illustrates both of these musical influences is the song "Welcome to the Jungle" on the album "Appetite for Destruction". The members of Guns N' Roses got their start as a band in Los Angeles, California. At the time of their band rising to fame, America was still in the transition of heavy metal becoming a mainstream genre again. Although metal was present throughout the 1980's it was not until the late 80's when it achieved mainstream success. The popular music genres at the time were hip–hop, electronic music, soft rock, alternative rock, and pop music. Country music was also a popular genre of music in the early 1980's but eventually got less popular. While Guns n' Roses were building up their popularity it took nearly a year to get the gigs they were looking for. In that year the odds were against the band. They had a hard time when it came to getting gigs because "... a series of frenzied, violent shows landed the Gunners on the shit list of everyone, including club owner, rival bands and the press – everyone but the fans, who grew in numbers with each passing gig," (Del, "Axl Rose: The Rolling Stone Interview"). Once they had a large fan base, Tom Zutaut noticed the bands popularity and decided to sign them to Geffen Records in 1986. Even though ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Case Study: A Rape On Campus This case study will examine the ethical issues journalists face when reporting rape and sexual assault stories, with specific analysis on the story published in Rolling Stone magazine titled: 'A Rape On Campus.' It will demonstrate the poor decisions made by journalists through their lack of fact checking and their negative portrayal of character. I will use ethical theory and self–regulation codes to establish where the journalist in question crossed the line in their reporting. This case study will highlight the impact of the article and will establish better methods of practice to avoid a repetition of this style of reporting in future rape/sexual assault cases. CASE BACKGROUND On November 19 2014, Rolling Stone magazine published a controversial article detailing an alleged gang rape at the University of Virginia, USA. In the story the victim, identified as Jackie, claimed that she was beaten and raped by seven men at the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity house. The 9,000 word piece was met with a nationwide outrage and the school ended up suspending all fraternities. However, the claims of Jackie were quickly questioned and Charlottesville police found no evidence that rape had occurred. It later came out that Sabrina Rubin Erdely, the ... • 7. Like A Rolling Stone Poem Analysis Bob Dylan's song "Like a Rolling Stone" was written in 1965 after he had taken a break from the famous life. Like many of his songs, this specific song has a special meaning to him. In the majority of his interviews he bashes his songs and doesn't give us the true meaning of them. Dylan does not give the meaning of his songs for the sole purpose of his listeners to have their own interpretation of the song. My interpretation of "Like a Rolling Stone" is about an unidentified woman referred to as "Miss Lonely" (13) who's has been given everything in life and her fall from fame. In the words of Dylan, "How does it feel, ah how does it feel?/ To be on your own, with no direction home/ Like a complete unknown"(46–48) the woman falls from fame and is left on the streets lonely, homeless, and unknown. In order to write such a poetic song Dylan used imagery, descriptive words, form, metaphors, similes, and alliteration to covey the message. In the structure of the song Dylan uses third person point of view to tell the story of the woman. He uses the word "you" which tells us that someone is speaking directly to the woman. There are eight stanzas and in between each on there is a repeating stanza, the chorus, which asks the woman a the question "How does it feel" The rhyming scheme in each stanza of "Like a Rolling Stone" is A–B–A–C–C–D–D–E. In the first stanza second line, there is and internal rhyme with the words "dime" and "prime". Other scheme is, The las word of each stanza all rhymed. Dylan uses figures of speech in the lyrics like similes and metaphors. The title itself is a simile, "Like a Rolling Stone" meaning to be lost and spinning out of control, just like the woman life. Alliteration means, the commencement of two or more stressed syllables of a word group either with the same consonant sound or sound group. This was shown in the first stanza, "Once upon a time you dressed so fine/Threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?/ People call say 'beware doll, you're bound to fall'/ You thought they were all kidding you/ You used to laugh about/ Everybody that was hanging out/ Now you don't talk so loud/ Now you don't seem so proud/ About having to be scrounging your next meal" The alliteration ... The narrator then finds himself in prison, after attempting to burn down the refinery in protest of not getting his old job back. He ends by saying that he was born in the USA, but this is more of a negative statement than one of patriotism. At least, that's how I interpreted the lyrics. Throughout the song, the same two keyboard (synthesizer?) chord is repeated, while the drums mostly keeps the same beat. It toke a couple listens and watching the music video to hear that the electric guitar also has an influence after the first verse. As much as I generally enjoy Springsteen's work of the seventies and the eighties, his locals make it difficult to understand during the first couple of listens. But, his vocals are meant to angry as, in one respect, this is a protest song. Works Cited "Born in the U.S.A. (song)." Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, 2 Nov. 2016. Web. 2 Nov. 2016. . Z, Jay. Analysis Of The Article ' Rolling Stone Magazine ' Through poor journalistic choices, Rolling Stone Magazine has landed in some hot water with the publication of the article A Rape on Campus, regarding the alleged gang rape that took place at the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity house located on the University of Virginia's campus two years ago. Because of their lack of neutral reporting, Rolling Stone will most likely be potentially facing multiple liable lawsuits brought against them in the near future. 1. I believe that Rolling Stone defamed the fraternity in question (assuming that their allegations are not 100% fact) because of the allegations made in their article. It has come to light in recent days that Jackie, the alleged victim's, story may not be supported factually. The article identified the fraternity in question by not only publishing its name, Phi Kappa Psi, but they also told where the fraternity was located on campus, as well as mentioned the fraternity's involvement in previous sexual assault cases that have taken place at UVA in the past. The article was published in the most recent publication of the Rolling Stone Magazine, so the fraternity in question does in fact have a libel case against Rolling Stone, if the allegations are false. There is not a defamation–of–group case because the accusation is only referring to 7 members of the large fraternity, which likely has more than 75 members. • 25. Analysis Of Here There Be Tygers By Stephen King Stephen King was born in 1947 into a poor family that was later abandoned by his father. He always had a passion for writing and became a high school teacher before he could kick–start his outstanding writing career says Biography.com. "Here There Be Tygers" is one of King's earlier works and it emits strong similarities between the short story and his life. Such as, it is set in a school and he was formerly a teacher. Also in the actual piece, "Here There Be Tygers" a boy has to go to the bathroom but is afraid of the teacher so he holds it until the teacher calls him out on having to go. From there he goes to the bathroom, which is in the eerie basement and to his surprise he finds a tiger. He goes back up without going to the bathroom to find his friend coming to get him because he was gone so long. The boy tells of the tiger, but his friend doesn't believe him and against the boy's discretion his friend goes down to the tiger and is presumably dead. He goes back up and almost goes into the girl's bathroom, but decides to go back down to the awaiting killer tiger again because he would rather get eaten by a tiger than embarrassed and criticised by his peers for going to the bathroom in the girl's room. The underlying message I got from this short story was how society judges and treats people for things they can't help, such as having to pee. Anyway, this could connect to Stephen King and how he felt as a boy or even now in this world where we judge people on everything. In an interview with The Rolling Stone, Stephen says, "They're always dreams that focus on some kind of shame or insecurity" (Green, The Rolling Stone.) This shows how Stephen King connects with the way Charles feels about having to go to the bathroom in class, he connects with the insecurities and shame he must feel. So I believe that Charles could be a version of himself just in an alternate world he made for himself. Stephen sets it in a school to give a basis for old or young readers so that you can relate to it. He also creates a suspense that is the general focus throughout the whole short story. Lastly, King creates a simple read with non– complex sentences that any age could read. Another short story by Stephen King is "The House On ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Based on thinly–veiled autobiographical material from the precocious beginnings of Crowe's early career, the screenplay shapes sentimental memories into movie magic. But how did Crowe give his own coming–of–age tale such universal appeal? High profile figures such as Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Jane Fonda, Muhhamed Ali, and John Lennon had all been outspoken opponents of the war. He always had a passion for writing and became a high school teacher before he could kick–start his outstanding writing career says, "Biography.com". Stephen King, a 'New York Times'–bestselling novelist and one of the most well known authors of our time, was directly influenced by the culture he grew up in and his own experiences in life. "Here There Be Tygers" is one of King's earlier works and it emits strong similarities between the short story and the culture he grew up in. In 1974, a year after Stephen King's mother died of cancer, King had published the short story "Sometimes They Come Back" (DeFilippo 1). Around the same time, Stephen King's substance abuse problem got worse. I became more drawn to the life story of Pablo Escobar after watching the critically acclaimed Netflix series, Narcos. Narcos tells the story of Pablo and his rise and fall from power. Narcos is being told through the eyes of an American DEA agent working to take down Pablo Escobar. That led me to question why America was concerned with a drug dealer in Columbia, and what means they took to stop him. The aurora that Pablo had was larger than life. I soon became enthralled by Pablo's story and soaked up every bit of information about him that I could. I began my research by reading interviews given by people who were associated with Pablo. Pablo's son, Sebastian Marroquin, has given many interviews and written books about his life as the son of one of the most infamous criminals in history. From his interviews I learned more about just how lavishly Pablo and his family lived. For a secondary source I used the Rolling Stone. The Rolling Stones rolled right into into America during the British invasion with The Beatles and The Who. The Rolling Stones made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and are still touring after about fifty years from coming to America during the British invasion. People wonder how the Rolling Stones came to be. The Rolling Stones former members included Bill Wyman playing the bass, Brian Jones playing guitar as well as Mick Taylor. The current members of the Rolling Stones are Kieth Richard playing the guitar, and singing. Mick Jagger, and Ron wood singing also, Charlie Watts plays the drums. In 1993, after the Steel Wheels/ Urban Jungle tour, Bill decided it was time for him to retire from the group, he was tired of touring (Loss, 2004). Brian Jones stepped down from his position of the Rolling Stones leader as Mick Jagger had taken over. Since then, the band got their first U.S. hit in 1964 with a cover for Not Fade Away by Buddy Holly (Norman, 1998). The Rolling Stone taught me about the cultural impacts that Pablo Escobar and the War on Drugs had on America. It also gave me a summary of how America is still waging war against drugs today. ... Journalistic Dishonesty In Dante's Inferno In her popular translation of Dante's Inferno, English writer Dorothy Sayers explains that Bolgia 9 in the eighth circle of hell is reserved for "sowers of discord," those who are "ready to rip up the whole fabric of society to gratify a sectional egotism." If Dante had assigned fraudulent journalists a place in hell–melodramatic as it is to think about–he probably would have put them in Bolgia 9. Any intentional inaccuracy in a story is a betrayal of the public's trust and is inexcusable for a professional whose job it is to report the truth; as Walter Lippmann once affirmed, "There can be no higher law in journalism than to tell the truth and to shame the devil." But just as Dante recognized in concocting his orderly progression of torment that there are shades of wrongness, so too are some fraudulent stories are more deserving of condemnation than others. Below, I will examine five cases of journalistic dishonesty– Janet Cooke's "Jimmy's World" in The Washington Post ("The Post"), Jayson Blair's reporting for The New York Times ("The Times"), Mike Daisey's feature on This American Life ("TAL"), Sabrina Erdely's "A Rape on Campus" in Rolling Stone Magazine (Rolling Stone), and Stephen Glass's stories for The New Republic– and argue that the offences in each vary in pervasiveness, level of duplicity, and impact on society. I will then scrutinize the responses of each publisher, evaluating the timeliness and approach of each. The Journalists Although a one case of fraud is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
