1. We had trouble with our preliminary Evaluation video so instead
we all decided to present them differently and individually.
2. What have you learnt throughout the making of
your preliminary Task?
We faced a lot of difficulties during our preliminary task because first of all we wanted to get
the location exactly right and we had to get a good look. Then when we thought about
finishing up and putting it onto our blogs we found that it wouldn’t let us post it and it
looked like we had lost all of our work. Luckily we found it with the help of the ITC help desk
and got it uploaded, a little bit behind schedule but we got there!
I have also learnt that working as a team and good communication is crucial, if we hadn’t
have seen each other as much or spoke as much then we probably wouldn’t have got the
video up to the standard we did.
Another thing is that establishing roles to the right people is also important, while me and
Eleanor were the less confident ones of the four of us we stayed behind the camera, Tahlia
and grace weren’t to bothered by being filmed so they were the actors in the short film.
Planning didn’t take us long at all, we all put our individual ideas out and then we spoke to
see which would fit best and came up with a storyline, overall I think planning took us
around 3 lessons.
Editing took longer than anything, we did work in two groups to make it quicker and make
sure everyone got a practice at editing, but because something went wrong and we lost the
files we ended up completing it past the schedule due date.
3. Areas of success:
Personally, I think me and Eleanor worked well during filming because we
kept trying different angles of the camera to see which one would fit best.
Tahlia and Grace did well to keep letting us try different angles and also
helped us to decide which one was best.
The fact that planning didn’t take long at all was a success because it
helped us to get filming quicker, and if we hadn’t have started filming as
quickly as we did then maybe we would have been even longer to
complete it.
There were no disagreements within the group so we all worked really well
together and listened to what each of us had to say and most of the time
we managed to incorporate everyone's ideas into the clip.
We managed to use many different camera shots which made different
effects to the story and created more suspence.
4. Areas of Development
Next time we film I think we could incorporate the lighting into it and use lighting
to add to the overall effect.
During planning I think making short quick notes would benefit us more than
going into so much detail, we could add in detail when we film.
5. How well did you meet the brief?
We did struggle with filming the 160 degree rule because of the lack of space we
left ourselves around the table but we did try to use the 180 degree rule
We did use shot reverse shot during dialogue to create a quick moving scene and
to make the audience feel panicked when watching it.
We used a low shot to catch graces feet running away from Tahlia to create
something different and unexpected.
6. Evaluating how well you Contributed to
your group.
I think I contributed well to the task as I was sharing the filming role and I put many
ideas forward and came up with some ways to add certain effects when we were filming.
However, I did seem to struggle with editing which resulted in me not being able to
contribute to the editing side of things as much as I did filming, but I intend to work on
it and next time I will hopefully be able to contribute more to the editing side of things.
I believe we worked really well as a group and we all got on and got the work done
contributing to the parts we felt strongest in. We helped each other when we were stuck
which meant we all progressed and learnt new things whilst getting the task done.
By doing all of this hopefully it will help us to think of stronger ideas and our thriller
opening (which we are ultimately aiming to make) will achieve more effects than our
preliminary evaluation.
