Social Communications is a complete communications
agency with a strong, well-connected South West team,
based in the heart of Bristol. Led by versatile practitioners
who know the South West intimately, our experienced
PR, public affairs, marketing and creative teams are
specialists in their fields.
This enables us to tailor our services to each client’s
requirements, from delivering a stakeholder engagement
campaign to taking control of an entire brand identity and
marketing strategy. Our team’s experience of delivering
significant campaigns across the South West means we
have a strong understanding of what makes the region
tick and the stakeholder and media relationships that
underpin this.
This local knowledge combined with a creative, human
approach and passion for helping organisations succeed
enables us to deliver services that work for clients in the
South West.
INTRODUCING SOCIAL COMMUNICATIONS 3
SERVICES4
Public Affairs
Our experienced public
affairs team has managed
campaigns for the
UK’s biggest names in
infrastructure, housing,
retail and energy –
consistently delivering
results for clients including
Lidl, Extra MSA Group,
Bradford Council, Places for
People, Story Homes, Peel
Environmental, Bruntwood
and Linden Homes.
We engage the silent
majority and seldom heard,
giving them a voice to help
shape the communities
they live in and become
advocates for new
sustainable development.
Our services include
stakeholder mapping,
political analysis and
briefing, public
consultation events,
project websites, social
media campaigns,
supporter activity and
much more.
In the South West, our team
has worked extensively with
key stakeholders, including
LEPs, local authorities,
national government and
the region’s universities.
Whatever your public affairs
requirements, we have
the skills and personality
to make your proposal a
success.
SERVICES 5
Public Relations
Your reputation is one of
your most valuable assets:
a product of your actions,
what you are saying and
what others say about
you. Our team of creative
thinkers can give you a
powerful voice in the crowd,
helping you tell your story
far and wide.
We have delivered full
public relations support
for industry-leading
property, construction and
infrastructure companies
across the UK, including
Mace, Places for People,
National College for
High Speed Rail, WCEC
Architects, United Living,
Urban Splash, Bruntwood,
TCPA and Keepmoat.
Whether you need press
releases, crisis and issues
support, copy writing,
Twitter feeds, websites
or blogs, we can provide
you with intelligent
communications support.
SERVICES6
Marketing
Communications
Marketing activity is fully
integrated into our wider
communications offer.
As such, we can ensure a
consistency of approach
and message across all
platforms. Using a strategic
approach to all marketing
communications activities
we develop and plan high
impact campaigns that
utilise the most effective
tactical channels to engage,
influence and get a reaction
from your target audiences.
From innovative direct
response campaigns to
brand awareness, and
everything in between, we’ll
ensure you reach the people
who need to hear from
you. We constantly monitor
and report on marketing
activity against benchmark
performance, to ensure
maximum return
on investment.
SERVICES 7
Design & Content
Our creative team brings
content to life, whether as
a standalone design brief or
part of a wider campaign.
We specialise in the creation
of brand imagery and
creative visual collateral
across print, digital, video
and exhibition materials –
and bring it all together with
engaging content and copy
to build and enhance your
voice.
We create striking and
memorable visual work,
carefully tailored to clients’
individual styles and
sensibilities. We are forward
looking, and keep up keenly
with design trends. And we
don’t just create artwork:
we can see it through
production for you, working
with trusted suppliers
for quality, fast and cost-
effective service.
SERVICES8
Branding
Your brand is not just
your logo, slogan and
design scheme; but your
customer’s total experience
of your business. We have
delivered full brand and
value identities for a number
of clients, in each instance
helping to define and clarify
an ethos that feeds into
everything they do.
Whether taking on a full
rebranding exercise or
merely developing an
existing one, we undertake
a careful and considered
process. This can include
focus grouping and
stakeholder engagement;
competitor analysis; client
and audience workshops;
and positioning, values
and messaging. We then
ensure a carefully managed
roll-out with development
of appropriate brand
guidelines for use across all
suitable media.
SERVICES 9
Social Media
We don’t view social media
as an add-on to existing
services, but as an integral
part of any successful
communications strategy
in its own right. In order
to ensure our clients get
the most out of the right
platforms, we always ask
why they want to make use
of it first. We also establish
their business objectives
and understanding of social
media, enabling us to give
the best recommendations
possible.
We ensure clients build
their presence on the right
channels and in a strategic
way from the start, and
for tactical social media
campaigns our whole
team works together –
with design, copywriting,
marketing and social media
planning. We can deliver
monthly cycles of content
planning, production and
analytics, and audit both
you and your competitors
to understand social media
strengths and weaknesses.
SERVICES10
Digital Marketing
We understand that
every company’s web
requirements are different,
and can scale our design
and development projects
to suit your needs – from a
simple corporate brochure
site to a fully functional
sales and marketing suite.
We can take full control
of your digital content
strategy, or hand you an
effective and intuitive site
that you can operate and
update with the minimum
of fuss.
We couple this creative
offer with extensive digital
marketing services, and will
bolster your SEO capabilities
either as part of a
wholescale redevelopment
or integrated with your
existing site. We get the
best out of combined
SEO, PPC and remarketing
campaigns to deliver
consistent, effective results
in acquisition and retention.
SERVICES 11
Video & Photography
With a dedicated team
working on shooting,
production, editing and
delivery, we can ensure that
your visual media has a
consistent look and feel and
sits in close harmony with
your brand and other design
elements.
Our in-house video team
has extensive experience
behind the camera and
in the editing suite for
both television and
corporate production.
We’re comfortable creating
event recaps, talking head
interviews, animation,
time lapse, drone and fly-
throughs, and more.

CASE STUDY
The Greater Cambridge
Partnership is investing more
than £500 million over the next
10 years to improve transport,
housing, skills and technology
as part of a City Deal. The group,
made up of local councils,
businesses and the University of
Cambridge, has enlisted Social
Communications to engage local
people and ensure their voices
are heard.
Our initial review of
previous public consultation
exercises and the proposed
engagement strategy led to
recommendations ensuring
new activity consulted with a
wide range of local residents,
commuters and service users
and mobilised potential
supporters. We worked together
to reposition and promote
the benefits the initiative can
bring for all through rebranding
(including brand guidelines) and
a refresh of key messages and
the overall vision.
We are currently strategically
advising and providing capacity
on engagement activity for the
partnership. Part of this was the
#OurBigConversation campaign
which aimed to raise awareness
and get people talking prior to
the start of formal consultation.
In order to engage with the
general public, we launched the
campaign at a busy Cambridge
United game and ran over 20
pop-up events in supermarkets,
train stations, Park & Rides,
high streets and freshers fairs
across Greater Cambridge, put
on business briefings, chatted to
people on social media channels
and held live online talks. A
travel survey with Travel for
Cambridgeshire also took place
and we increased participation
through a prize draw. The
campaign saw high levels of
engagement at our pop-up
events and on social media, as
well as positive media.

We have been working with
international construction
firm Mace since Autumn 2016.
The team has helped to raise
awareness of the depth and
breadth of Mace’s expertise
across the country.
A focused stakeholder
engagement campaign has
helped build connections with
potential new business targets.
Activity has included identifying
suitable business networking
events which Mace should
attend or speak at, based on the
topic, format and attendees. A
number of roundtable dinners
have also been arranged
to engage with priority
stakeholders.
Alongside this, a targeted
PR campaign has secured
broadcast, print and online
coverage to highlight Mace’s
thought leadership on a range
of issues including devolution,
city region transport strategies
and the expansion of Heathrow.
On the latter, we secured live
television and radio interviews
with BBC News, Sky News
and Radio 5 Live in October
2016. These opportunities
saw Mace CEO Mark Reynolds
and Infrastructure Managing
Director, Jason Millet, share their
own expertise and views on
Heathrow’s expansion plans.

Social Communications' South West team

  • 1. SERVICES 1 Our credentials South West office social-communications.co.uk
  • 3. SERVICES 3 Social Communications is a complete communications agency with a strong, well-connected South West team, based in the heart of Bristol. Led by versatile practitioners who know the South West intimately, our experienced PR, public affairs, marketing and creative teams are specialists in their fields. This enables us to tailor our services to each client’s requirements, from delivering a stakeholder engagement campaign to taking control of an entire brand identity and marketing strategy. Our team’s experience of delivering significant campaigns across the South West means we have a strong understanding of what makes the region tick and the stakeholder and media relationships that underpin this. This local knowledge combined with a creative, human approach and passion for helping organisations succeed enables us to deliver services that work for clients in the South West. INTRODUCING SOCIAL COMMUNICATIONS 3
  • 4. SERVICES4 Public Affairs Our experienced public affairs team has managed campaigns for the UK’s biggest names in infrastructure, housing, retail and energy – consistently delivering results for clients including Lidl, Extra MSA Group, Bradford Council, Places for People, Story Homes, Peel Environmental, Bruntwood and Linden Homes. We engage the silent majority and seldom heard, giving them a voice to help shape the communities they live in and become advocates for new sustainable development. Our services include stakeholder mapping, political analysis and briefing, public consultation events, project websites, social media campaigns, supporter activity and much more. In the South West, our team has worked extensively with key stakeholders, including LEPs, local authorities, national government and the region’s universities. Whatever your public affairs requirements, we have the skills and personality to make your proposal a success.
  • 5. SERVICES 5 Public Relations Your reputation is one of your most valuable assets: a product of your actions, what you are saying and what others say about you. Our team of creative thinkers can give you a powerful voice in the crowd, helping you tell your story far and wide. We have delivered full public relations support for industry-leading property, construction and infrastructure companies across the UK, including Mace, Places for People, National College for High Speed Rail, WCEC Architects, United Living, Urban Splash, Bruntwood, TCPA and Keepmoat. Whether you need press releases, crisis and issues support, copy writing, Twitter feeds, websites or blogs, we can provide you with intelligent communications support.
  • 6. SERVICES6 Marketing Communications Marketing activity is fully integrated into our wider communications offer. As such, we can ensure a consistency of approach and message across all platforms. Using a strategic approach to all marketing communications activities we develop and plan high impact campaigns that utilise the most effective tactical channels to engage, influence and get a reaction from your target audiences. From innovative direct response campaigns to brand awareness, and everything in between, we’ll ensure you reach the people who need to hear from you. We constantly monitor and report on marketing activity against benchmark performance, to ensure maximum return on investment.
  • 7. SERVICES 7 Design & Content Our creative team brings content to life, whether as a standalone design brief or part of a wider campaign. We specialise in the creation of brand imagery and creative visual collateral across print, digital, video and exhibition materials – and bring it all together with engaging content and copy to build and enhance your voice. We create striking and memorable visual work, carefully tailored to clients’ individual styles and sensibilities. We are forward looking, and keep up keenly with design trends. And we don’t just create artwork: we can see it through production for you, working with trusted suppliers for quality, fast and cost- effective service.
  • 8. SERVICES8 Branding Your brand is not just your logo, slogan and design scheme; but your customer’s total experience of your business. We have delivered full brand and value identities for a number of clients, in each instance helping to define and clarify an ethos that feeds into everything they do. Whether taking on a full rebranding exercise or merely developing an existing one, we undertake a careful and considered process. This can include focus grouping and stakeholder engagement; competitor analysis; client and audience workshops; and positioning, values and messaging. We then ensure a carefully managed roll-out with development of appropriate brand guidelines for use across all suitable media.
  • 9. SERVICES 9 Social Media We don’t view social media as an add-on to existing services, but as an integral part of any successful communications strategy in its own right. In order to ensure our clients get the most out of the right platforms, we always ask why they want to make use of it first. We also establish their business objectives and understanding of social media, enabling us to give the best recommendations possible. We ensure clients build their presence on the right channels and in a strategic way from the start, and for tactical social media campaigns our whole team works together – with design, copywriting, marketing and social media planning. We can deliver monthly cycles of content planning, production and analytics, and audit both you and your competitors to understand social media strengths and weaknesses.
  • 10. SERVICES10 Digital Marketing We understand that every company’s web requirements are different, and can scale our design and development projects to suit your needs – from a simple corporate brochure site to a fully functional sales and marketing suite. We can take full control of your digital content strategy, or hand you an effective and intuitive site that you can operate and update with the minimum of fuss. We couple this creative offer with extensive digital marketing services, and will bolster your SEO capabilities either as part of a wholescale redevelopment or integrated with your existing site. We get the best out of combined SEO, PPC and remarketing campaigns to deliver consistent, effective results in acquisition and retention.
  • 11. SERVICES 11 Video & Photography With a dedicated team working on shooting, production, editing and delivery, we can ensure that your visual media has a consistent look and feel and sits in close harmony with your brand and other design elements. We’re comfortable creating event recaps, talking head interviews, animation, time lapse, drone and fly- throughs, and more.

  • 17. CASE STUDY The Greater Cambridge Partnership is investing more than £500 million over the next 10 years to improve transport, housing, skills and technology as part of a City Deal. The group, made up of local councils, businesses and the University of Cambridge, has enlisted Social Communications to engage local people and ensure their voices are heard. Our initial review of previous public consultation exercises and the proposed engagement strategy led to recommendations ensuring new activity consulted with a wide range of local residents, commuters and service users and mobilised potential supporters. We worked together to reposition and promote the benefits the initiative can bring for all through rebranding (including brand guidelines) and a refresh of key messages and the overall vision. We are currently strategically advising and providing capacity on engagement activity for the partnership. Part of this was the #OurBigConversation campaign which aimed to raise awareness and get people talking prior to the start of formal consultation. In order to engage with the general public, we launched the campaign at a busy Cambridge United game and ran over 20 pop-up events in supermarkets, train stations, Park & Rides, high streets and freshers fairs across Greater Cambridge, put on business briefings, chatted to people on social media channels and held live online talks. A travel survey with Travel for Cambridgeshire also took place and we increased participation through a prize draw. The campaign saw high levels of engagement at our pop-up events and on social media, as well as positive media. Client Greater Cambridge Partnership Project Name The Big Conversation 17
  • 19. 19CASE STUDY We have been working with international construction firm Mace since Autumn 2016. The team has helped to raise awareness of the depth and breadth of Mace’s expertise across the country. A focused stakeholder engagement campaign has helped build connections with potential new business targets. Activity has included identifying suitable business networking events which Mace should attend or speak at, based on the topic, format and attendees. A number of roundtable dinners have also been arranged to engage with priority stakeholders. Alongside this, a targeted PR campaign has secured broadcast, print and online coverage to highlight Mace’s thought leadership on a range of issues including devolution, city region transport strategies and the expansion of Heathrow. On the latter, we secured live television and radio interviews with BBC News, Sky News and Radio 5 Live in October 2016. These opportunities saw Mace CEO Mark Reynolds and Infrastructure Managing Director, Jason Millet, share their own expertise and views on Heathrow’s expansion plans. Client Mace
