 AHET’s SUFRO® consists of wastewater recycling using
submerged ultrafiltration (SUF) followed by reverse osmosis (RO)
process
 The submerged ultrafiltration membranes are flat sheet back-
washable membranes with a nominal pore size of 0.04 microns
that prevent the passage of all solids and bacterial cells, colloids,
macromolecules as well as most viruses
 A robust reverse osmosis (RO) plant that incorporates multiple
process control loops which protect the system from operator
errors or negligence
 SUFRO® is very simple to operate and control
 Easy to add on in a “plug and play” manner to upgrade an existing
plant with very little down time
 SUFRO® can be used after any secondary biological treatment,
with COD of <150 ppm at the inlet of SUFRO®

 Compared to conventional UF RO systems, SUFRO® can sustain higher suspended solids of up to
1500 ppm owing to its configuration
 The biomass in the clarifier overflow (in case of any upsets in the biological system) is effectively
retained in the SUF tank which is then recycled back to the aeration tank, thus preventing biomass
washouts and in turn protecting the process of aerobic bio-degradation
 It eliminates the use of pressure sand filter (PSF), activated carbon filter (ACF) and basket filter,
otherwise required for conventional UF RO plants
 Backwash and CIP water requirement for SUFRO® is 50% lower than for a conventional UF RO
plant
 Overall hydraulic load on the wastewater treatment plant is reduced because of these features
 Ease of operation, 30% reduction in footprint, superior treated effluent quality and consistent
performance are other major advantages
