What is good about this documentary?
- The introduction was a of montage of stressed out teenagers in
various situations (real life), shows realism and it builds up the
audiences emotion of feeling empathy for the teenagers feeling this
way, itâs a montage of more than one person it comes across more
true where as if it was the same person looking stressed lots it
wouldnât look real.
-they did something I had not seen before which was big wording
showing on screen popping up along with the persons walking speed
as if their thoughts were following them.
-tweets how up to involve social media along with tweet update
sound. This shows the involvement of social media in this
generations life, I think this was a good touch.
-This episode focusses mainly on relationships as thatâs what takes
up a lot of students time
-shot reverse shot to show feelings during conversation, shows facial
expressions and reactions to what eachother are saying. In this clip it
was two boys having âbanterâ with eachother about girls.
- Throughout they are in settings they would normally be in such as
e.g. college, home doing makeup, playing pool, at parties. This allows
the audience to know what generation they are and also what each
individual person involved gets up to e.g. if they are at the party
theyâre most likely more rebellious
2. -Show on public transport to show they canât drive (shows age) but
they act as though the cameras arenât there which makes it come
across more natrual
-They involve underage activities such as drinking
-In some cases you hear voices begin to talk before clip moves to
showing their faces. This is effective as it makes the documentary
flow and it joins one clip to another with sound as well as picture.
-As certain individuals are talking the clip cuts away to things relating
to the person such as alcohol, clothes, messy room. His is effective as
it makes it more interesting to watch and also backs up what theyâre
saying making it more believable.
-They speak about how girls get treated differently to boys so they
are under more pressure to do good, look good and behave good as
though they get judged more than boys. Show boys agreeing with
this statement to show itâs not a bias opinion.
-They use informal language such as swear words, makes it relatable
and shows certain âslangâ brits use.
-link music to topic e.g. if theyâre talking about alcohol a song about
getting drunk comes on
-They donât look at the camera at times they âdonât knowâ theyâre
being filmed. Makes it look real.
A race to nowhere documentary trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uem73imvn9Y
-this was the trailer for the film/documentary, we was planning to do
a trailer-type theme too so this documentary was handy.
-it was in America but they focused mainly on stress that schoolkids
go through so it was relatable to UK schools too.
-The introduction music is quite sad; it sets a scene that it is tough
for students now days.
-Music is played in the background as kids talk about how stressful
things are. This is non-diegetic sound so they cannot hear it and
3. therefore shows what theyâre saying is real. The music compliments
what they are saying.
-fast motion walking in hallways representing the speed of things
and growing up fast.
âIâm afraid children will sue us for stealing their childhoodsâ & âwere
expected to be superheroâsâ â are quotes that stands out, it is
helpful to our documentary as we want to know adults opinions as
well as students
-montage of serious things being spoken about such as depression
and suicide due to stress shows how serious the topic is.
-I think we should use music similar to this documentary as the topic
is very similar and I felt it complemented it.
- They asked a smaller child their opinion on pressure and what he is
expected to do to show a whole population of people sharing the
same opinion.
-take clippings out of what each person says and match it all up
together showing all of their stress is similar

They show in environment of school whilst showing her writing.
-They balance it out by showing a mix of her with friends and
learning to show the social side of her life.
-put behind a red/black/orange background when talking- represents
anger, stress
- sound goes from loud to quiet- make sure we donât do this
-only have one person being interviewed- make sure we donât do this
as it is does not give a variety of opinions.
I looked at a documentary to do with teen pressure on body image
and eating disorders as that looks are a part of our âpressureâ
documentary.

-include a website for help- we could include a teacher or their email
e.c.t
- get different people to all contribute to a statement/ fact so each
person says a part of the fact
-when they answered questions or asking random people to say
something you could tell they was reading off a piece of paper- make
sure we donât do this
