The document discusses the production of a film opening. It describes the logo created for the opening, which incorporates elements of film noir through black and white imagery and vintage camera film to convey sophistication and retro elegance. The name "New Age Pictures" was chosen to represent drawing inspiration from older films but adapting them for a modern time period. The production company responsible for fundraising, budgeting, and scripting should share the same vision. The film Syrup and its production company Lila 9TH Productions, which features strong female protagonists, served as inspirations. Magnolia Pictures is suggested as a distributor since it distributed Syrup successfully and similar films. The film opening credits only real people who contributed to the
2. For the logo for our film opening, we were trying to
convey a level of class and sophistication. We also
wanted to incorporate an element of the dominant
genre we used as inspiration for our film opening,
film noir. We did this through only using black and
white which already connotes an idea of vintage
elegance. We also had vintage camera film coming
out of the logo the reinforcing the idea of the film
being very classic, vintage and almost retro. The
name also was intended to display the fact that we
drew inspiration from older films and a 1940s genre
but adapted it with small conventions of more of a
modern time period. ‘New Age Pictures’ is what we
thought would best represent this.
3. The production company is responsible for fundraising
for the production, budgeting, scheduling and
scripting of the production. They provide the
essential resources for the making of the film. This is
why it would be important for the production
company to have the same vision as you and to be on
the same wave length. We drew inspiration from a
film called ‘Syrup’ because of their strong female lead
evident throughout the motion picture. Since then, I
did some more research into the making of the film
and it was produced by a company called Lila 9TH
Productions. This company has produced three films
in the past five years and all of them have a similar
kind of unorthodox strong female protagonist.
4. A film distributor is a company or individual responsible for
the marketing of a film. The distributor may set a release
date of the film and the method in which the film is meant
to be exhibited or made available for viewing. It is
important to make sure that the distributor has the same
vision for the film as you do. The release date is also very
important for them to consider because it is a huge factor
as to how much exposure the film would get. I would get
Magnolia Pictures to distribute my film as they distributed
‘Syrup’ which was one of the inspirations for may film
opening and was a big success, gaining a lot of exposure
in mainstream cinemas. They have also distributed a lot of
films which are of a similar nature to our film opening and
would have a good idea of how to market the film to our
target audience effieciently.
5. We started off by having our production logo
We then just embedded credits
throughout the film opening of myself
and the people in my group, the
actors who featured and also my dad
who helped with the production of the
music. We felt that it was important to
only have real people who contributed
to the film opening as we all feel a
sense of pride in what we have
produced and everyone deserves the
credit for what they did.
