12. - How long is the sequence?
The sequence is 1:39
- What information is the audience given in terms of genre and narrative? What does this lead you to
expect from the film?
From The teaser trailer, the audience will get a clear sense that the film is a teen drama based and the
audience will get a clear understanding of the narrative of the film being about the bullying. This leads the
audience to expect that the film will be based on the characters in the trailer and will follow the same
narrative.
- What questions does it leave the audience with? Enigma?
The teaser trailer leaves the audience wanting to know how the film develops with the bullies. It leaves a
mysterious ending as we do not find out what happens to the girl and how it ends.
13. - What is the USP (unique selling point) or key selling points?
The usp of this teaser trailer is the wide variety of shot types and camera angles used in the teaser trailer.
I also think that the way the storey is told from multiple people's point of view we get more of a personal
feeling to the film which is a unique selling point.
- What type of audience is being addressed? You might like to think in terms of age, gender,
background, cultural experience and interests. It is useful to consider mode of address, what is
represented and how characters are represented in the trailer as part of this.
The type of audience being addressed in this teaser trailer would be the teenage demographic teenagers,
around the age of 13 to 24. We know this because of the heavy and obvious focus on school life and the
majority of the characters being teenaged. I think that this film would be could be skewed more towards
female. This is because the majority of the cast is female and have more female themes like personal
image. The personal experiences of the viewer would also likely affect the likelihood of them watching this
film, such as if they were bullied at school or involved with a similar situation, then they may feel like they
can relate to the film.
14. Main Title, using
same branding as
text graphics as in
the teaser trailer
Powerful slogan
conveying the real
element to the film.
Bully placed behind
victim displaying how
she might be following
her around.
Low key lighting used to
convey the dark undertone
throughout the film with the
bullying theme
Eyes down to show
the sad emotions of
the victim.
Eye looking directly into
the lens displaying a
more evil feeling.
Red lips matching the
red text graphic
reinforcing the evil
aspects to this film
Another short slogan
giving more of a
narrative to the film
Only half faces
shown only
giving away half
of the person
Close up camera angle clearly
showing their emotion.
15. How you think the marketing team behind the poster are trying to attract an audience (USP)?
The marketing team of this film promotion campaign uses emotions conveyed in the characters face in
order to show mystery and attract the audience in wanting to watch the film. They have done this through
the use of camera angles: the close up angle and mise en scene: positioning of the characters, use of low
key lighting and the colour themes of the poster. These clearly display the theme of the film of bullying
within the teen drama genre.
How is analysing this film poster useful for your own production planning?
This poster uses a lot of helpful techniques and has a lot of good ideas that would be useful for us to
develope on in order to have a successful poster. Our film idea has similar themes to this film with the
bullying. This means that we can use similar ideas and they will work for our film idea. I especially like the
idea of using low key lighting in the poster which is more unusual for a teen drama poster.
