What are the factors affecting diffusion? Explain how in 1-2 sentences each. Solution Diffusion is the process of spreading more widely(it may be a liquid or gas). There are several factors that can effect the process of diffusion.few can assist the diffusion and few can persist the diffusion. The following are the several factors with their effect on diffusion process: A)Temperature: As the temperature increases diffusion occurs more rapidly.these two are directly proportional to each other.for example when you increase the temperature of air it rushes up as its density decreases. B)Particle distance: every substance is composed of infinite particles.for the particle which is closer it takes less time to diffuse and for the particle which is farthest it takes more time to diffuse.these two are directly proportional to each other. C)Concentration difference: A chamber divided into two compartments and filled with two different fluids is the example of this type.particle diffuses from one side of the wall to the other side based upon the difference in concentration on both sides.hence the rate of diffusion increases with increase in concentration difference. D)Particle size: Particle size matters alot because a smaller particle at a given temperature moves more faster than the larger one at the same temperature.hence particle size is inversly proportional to the diffusion rate.
