1. How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
2. Representation
When we try to define representation we look
at how other objects are defined by individuals.
Representation is highly subjective and depends
on the perception of the particular thing being
looked at.
3. Social Groups
• The teen social groups being represented are
from both working and middle class students
but I have also considered gender and how
that is appropriate to representation.
8. Class
- The way I have portrayed class in my film is
stereotypical of what class is today. The working
class person shows a lack of wealth by his actions,
and resorting to crime to get out of his situation.
The symbolism of him looking into the fridge and
finding nothing inside represents the struggle of a
working class individual. The middle class girl in my
film is symbolically typical of what one thinks of the
middle class. The is represented by the way she
dresses, her body language and self confidence.
9. Gender
The representation of the male is stereotypical this
is represented by him getting what he wants by any
means possible. This is illustrated in my film when
he steals the drink out of frustration of having no
money. I also try to represent the dominance of
men over women by the use of charm to get what
he wants, and the women falling for it. The woman
in my film tries to live up to what society thinks of
as beautiful and she is especially blinded by the
idea of beauty and where it can get you.
